Hi all! Had my whooping cough vaccination this afternoon. It didn't really hurt - hope that's some comfort to some people! Arm a bit achey but nothing to shout about!

Consultant this morning seemed happy with measurements from the growth scan, though I really do wish they would actually explain what it all means...but results of GTT not back yet. He said they would call if there is something bad, but I really wouldn't put it past them to not do that...he did spend quite some time on the phone to the blood people complaining about why none of the test results were available to view on the system when they should be.

My blood pressure is going up with each appointment, but they never seem to have an issue with that either as it's not deemed as 'high' yet. I don't know if that's normal or not...

Whoever said they would just stand in a shop, spin around and point at a pram - sounds like a good plan to me! Between appointments and shopping lists and to do lists and still actually having to be a sane person that works full time i'm about to lose my mind with all the things that need doing!

I'm feeling the heartburn pain Sad just got some peptac from through pharmacy...hadn't realised that minor ailments were included in the free stuff pregnant people get group so was buying gaviscon when the helpful woman said the pharmacist could give me for free.

Was in the chemist because I have a gum infection, dentist has given me antibiotics so hoping they kick in soon as sore hips, heartburn and sore mouth is making sleep difficult and me a very grumpy lass. Angry

ilovemonstersInc · 17/06/2014 16:57

Flowers that can't be easy ella x

Just been upto local pharmacy for ds1 meds and pharmacist said ohh ive got a script here for some iron for you. I told the consultant time before last check my iron levels and she said no do it in a few days when you come back. I couldn't go back as I was ill so have had to wait. She could have done it that day and had results early and therefore I could have beem started on iron earlier too. I become extremely anaemic during pregnancy to the point where I need iron drips and physically can't get up no matter whatneeds doing. That's how ive felt and now im on same dose of iron as I was postnatal with ds2 after a pph!

ilove It is a pain when they don't listen to you and underestimate how well you know your own body!

For those with heartburn - I have found that having a glass of milk helps and also sucking mints.

I expect this baby to have plenty of hair with the amount i've had!

Dazedconfused · 17/06/2014 18:31

thanks ilove am glad to be home and blobbed on sofa.

Teabiscuits · 17/06/2014 18:51

You can tell we are all very pregnant now - everyone seems to be suffering with something Sad Hope you all feel better soon Thanks

Personally I'm just already bloody fed up with pregnancy to be honest. Starting to wish I could unstrap the bump for a few hours and feel normal again, and be able to have a bottle of some wine. To be fair though by the time I have had this baby I will have been pregnant for a total of 3 years altogether, which is over 10% of my entire life so far! Shock

topmammy · 17/06/2014 19:41

I suffered with ibs as a teen ella, I think due to a bit of anxiety and also it triggered if I ate white bread, which still makes me ill now if I eat too much if it. So I can sympathize :( Sometimes I think ibs is a bit of a vicious circle as the more you remember you have it the more it seems to be set off. Thats my experience anyway. Really hope it settles down for you. Buscopan was always my friend but of course I dont think you can take that in pregnancy.

dazed I had a gum infection round my wisdom tooth shortly before getting pregnant and I was super grumpy! I'm sure those antibiotics will have you feeling better in no time though :) They did for me.

lilone that was me who mentioned the spinning around trick to pick a pushchair, hehe. How much does this uppababyvista one cost that a few of you have been mentioning?

Can't really complain much at the mo (thank the lord!) I feel ok apart from my skin feels like it can't possibly stretch anymore! Got a few stretch marks just on one boob Hmm the other one is fine, how strange! And I can't stop eating Krave! Blush

KatharineClover · 17/06/2014 20:38

I'm usually a really stressed-out person but I'm so chilled at the moment! My SPD is great too (touch wood!). It is very bizarre, I'm putting it down to my lovely doula and the natal hypnotherapy - I can talk about DS's birth without getting upset now, and I feel so so positive about this baby's upcoming birth, it's amazing and so empowering! :)
Sorry to hear about everyone's aches, pains and worries. Ella, it might be worth contacting your gp in case there is something they can do - being stuck at home because of your IBS isn't fair on you x

Ella if you think your ibs might be more psychological than just caused by what you eat then ask your GP about CBT - cognitive behavioural therapy. They could help you to retrain your brain so to speak to stop connecting going out for appts etc to a response from your gut. There are books on CBT too.

Baby won't stop kicking me in the bladder... It hurts so much Confused

Nazly · 17/06/2014 22:33

Kath that's amazing, do they really have such good effects? A very good friend of mine recommended hypno B classes to me but I just could not justify the cost in my head... This is my first and I feel I don't know nearly enough about anything, and since neither my hospital nor my local midwifes were prepared to offer me antenatal classes ( as I didn't choose our local hospital), I finally decided to register for NCT classes which are really expensive... I now think perhaps I should have done hypno instead given my anxiety level for giving birth is going up everyday....

All, thanks for your advices; Coolcat, thanks, just asked DH to buy some ranitidine on his way home
For me milk seems to work but only for a little while...

Nazly · 17/06/2014 22:38

I don't know what to do, my right hand man resigned today and he will now be off before my ML starts, I was hoping he will take over on so many of my responsibilities, now not only he is not going to be there, but also I have to take over his responsibilities for a while before we can find a replacement for him... (!!!)
Really stressed out because of this on work front

It didn't help that when I got home instead of relaxing and taking my mind off things, I started watching clips of giving birth on youtube... There are so many of them, and they are scary to be honest.... It is just strange and I do not feel ready for it...

Nazly · 17/06/2014 23:34

Coolcat dh just brought home some ranitidine, it says in the leaflet do not take if pregnant; should I be calling my gp beforehand? Or can I just take it...

cookielove · 18/06/2014 03:04

Hello all, I'm still in California whoop whoop, snd suffering from swollen ankles. Quick question, the baby seems to have one day where it moves loads and the next, hardly anything. Hmmm not sure if I should be worried or not! !

Sad times, my friend carrying triplets lost one of them today, so sad i can't be there!

Sorry to hear some of you are suffering!

misog2000 · 18/06/2014 07:34

Hi everyone, just checking in. Sorry to hear some of you are really suffering now Sad, I'm a bit behind most of you only 26 weeks now so I'm still getting off quite lightly ATM I think. Still managing to look after the horse myself without any issues, I've stopped riding now as getting on and off was uncomfortable, so she thinks she's having a holiday, little does she know I've drafted my sister in to take over keeping her fit until I can get back on post baby Grin

IBS is awful Ella, I've had it since about 14 and mine was largely stress related prior to pregnancy, I have found that certain foods affect it really badly since falling pregnant though, I have gone totally gluten free now and it's made a big difference. I was in a lot of pain with bloating in the evenings but seem to have got rid of the worst of it by avoiding wheat. Hope you are feeling better soon.

My work has ramped up to a whole new level of stupidly busy now, and will probably stay like that till I go off just before my due date. I'm coping at the moment, but will have to flag it if it becomes a problem. I did have a piece of good news though, I can pick up my new car at the end of the month (work lease car) - while I am gutted to lose my speedy little sports car, getting in and out of it is becoming a struggle and it's expensive, so I'm reducing my outgoings significantly by downgrading to a normal type car.

Hope everyone has a nice day x

DearDinah · 18/06/2014 07:37

cookie I was just thinking the same thing, I hardly felt baby at all yesterday but the day before loads, I think it's normal, the MW said if you can feel 12 movements a day that's fine, perhaps with all the excitement you just haven't noticed, hope you are having a lovely time!
It's our anniversary today & we're going in a bit if a baby moon, just overnighting in a fancy hotel (thanks wowcher!)
Three years ago I married my best friend, he's a pain in the ass sometimes but glad he's my pain in the ass! Lol

DearDinah · 18/06/2014 07:38

Sorry to hear about work troubles, I'm relishing this week off cause I know when I get back it'll be bedlam till I leave, I have to train someone, I've never trained anyone in my life!
Take it easy ladies xxx

ilovemonstersInc · 18/06/2014 08:05

Flowers deardinah happy anniversary! Its my 5th anniversary next month Shock and im only 22 Blush lol.

Cookie sorry to hear about your friend. This baby has days where hes really quite like yesterday but is okish the next day or so. Obv if you get pain or any abnormal discharge get checked. Or if you feel something isnt right best way to wake lazy baby is drink icecold water and have something sugary and lay on left side. Usually does the trick.

Someone said 12movemnts a day. Thats very dated advice and now current advice is if theres any reduction in movement or you feel something isnt right get checked. Its on the count the kicks website

Hi nazly I bought the natal hypnotherapy CDs from amazon - for about £30 I think - and borrowed the book that goes with them. I listen to the pregnancy cd most nights on my MP3 player and it relaxes me so much (and the baby always kicks loads!) often I fall asleep listening. My husband and people at work have commented on how chilled out I am (not like me at all!). I've also read Ina May Gaskin's guide to childbirth which is a little hippy but really empowering. Just a few months ago I was in a flat spin over birth, so worried about another PPH, panicking about being stuck on my back again, or giving birth at home before I could get to hospital. Now I feel so confident! I -never- thought I would feel like this! My body is made for giving birth, just like any other bodily function. I know I can birth my baby safely and calmly. The relaxation mantras on the cd are great, I regularly use them if I feel an ache or pain.
Sorry! I think I got a bit keen there haha, but I am really amazed by the turnaround in just a few weeks, it feels so wonderful to be excited about birth rather than fearful :)

CoolCat2014 · 18/06/2014 13:00

Nazly - very helpfully the NHS website says in one place says take twice a day and in another says you should only take if GP thinks you need to. Maybe phone your midwife... It's obviously recommended by my board as I've had it mentioned a couple times (I used to take some years ago when I had stomach acid issues, it was the only thing that helped then, so remember it!) if midwife doesn't know then pop into GP, at least then you could get it free on prescription, though they might suggest something else.

whiteblossom · 18/06/2014 14:51

Katharine remind me which hpno cds you have, I want to order those asap. They sound very positive and re-assuring whilst relaxing too.

Here's a link to 40% off bodyshop- I printed off and took it in the shop today and saved loads. I like the bodybutters and dry body oils.

www.vouchercodes.co.uk/thebodyshop.co.uk?ppcid=vclbhwtxmyogncgbmuvdgeyqqojfhhkfnytevfjfqbldssvtgxnmtdvdqeoqgojfqyxthpxugxgxtsxevjutkfjfgpmsmptemqlxqvjnisljqnnmjdldgeoqgyjiqyxjhpnkqxqxjsxeiilwrgxtsnxe&v=10&ph=61240edc&kid=30dadc2c-3e8d-3e28-23ba-00000d403a58&gclid=CKfq8a7Hg78CFWfkwgoduBEAWQ&rc=2046962

I had a mw apt today, all went well, measuring spot on. Mw still useless on following up with consultant, she didn't even have GT results...

Though I got the feeling she would have said everything was fine regardless.

KatharineClover · 18/06/2014 16:34

Hi whiteblossom these are the ones I got www.amazon.co.uk/Natal-Hypnotherapy-Programme-Hospital-Centre/dp/1905220537 it's a 4 cd pack with 1 cd for pregnancy, 1 for birth preparation from 32 weeks, 1 of birth music (the same that is played on the first 2 CDs to trigger the relaxation response) and 1 for postnatal recovery. They also do ones for home birth, c-section and twins. I googled videos of people giving birth using natal hypnotherapy - so calm! The book that goes with the CDs is really great - it explains all the theory of hynotherapy and of birth physiology and has lots of positive birth stories in it too :)
