Sorry I must be tired just realised I didn't spell forever properly! And then it wouldn't save, all sorted out :)

dontevenblink · 15/06/2014 21:59

Hi ladies, thanks so so much for your kind words of support, they really help (you made me cry, but in a good way - I am soooo emotional at the moment :) )

I do speak to my mum once a week on Skype, which is brilliant, you're right velvet it does help. She is coming out later in the year, arriving on Sep 18th so she can meet the baby. She manages to come out once a year for 2 weeks (all the time she can get off work unfortunately), she came out last feb, and would have come out in April but decided to change the date so she could meet the baby. I think talking to her on sat eve really set me off as I told her I was feeling homesick and she got upset too saying how much she missed us all. I do definitely think that pregnancy is making me more emotional than normal, and everything on my mind that I do normally bottle up is just coming out. I do have some good friends here so will take your advice and go out with them one night I think.

DH knows to tread carefully around me now at least Grin

Hope you are all good :)

I get leg cramps in the night ella, I find stretching my calf muscles before I go to sleep helps, although mine don't hurt unless they are cramping so I don't know it its the same thing. I stand on the bottom step of the stairs on the balls of my feet with heels hanging over the edge of the step, then hold the bannister and lower my heels towards the floor as far as is comfortable and hold for a few seconds. I repeat about 5-6 times. It seems to stop my legs cramping, but if yours are sore anyway I would be very careful as you don't want to make it feel worse! Maybe some paracetamol would be better for now x

DearDinah · 15/06/2014 23:48

Leg cramps aren't too bad, just get tinglyness, right now I'm battling heartburn & have run out of gaviscon :-(

polkadotdelight · 16/06/2014 06:30

Sorry to hear all you ladies are having a bit of a time of it. If it makes you feel any better I have been awake for hours - too hot and can't get comfortable due to hips aching. Have been very emotional this weekend (presume this is normal for 26/27 weeks?) and woyld give anything to stay home today.

lilone1234 · 16/06/2014 12:13

Had my second GTT today, as fun as before lol. Wondering when I will get my results as they don't write/phone you about them they just check at next midwife appt. I have consultant appt tomorrow but they said they might not have them through by then in which case i'd have to wait several weeks til next appt which surely isn't good if it comes back I do have GD! And i'm more worried about it this time, but I stupidly ate a load of crap yesterday and was still eating chocolate at half 9 when you have to start fasting at 10! Last time I didn't have an appt until 4 weeks after the test, so I didn't get them until then.

Had growth scan too. Baby is about 1.2kg and the measurements looked mostly fine to me, he did the waist twice though so apparently that's coming up a bit big - more to fuel worry of GD. Won't really know what it all means until they go through it at consultant tomorrow. He said she was still a girl as well lol (but I don't think he really knew...) and she seems fine apart from that, got to see her little face and little hands Grin

ilovemonstersInc · 16/06/2014 14:18

Lilone of you have gd they will ring
and 1.2kg is spot on for what ive read. This baby is 2kg! Well he was last week

hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that mothercare have an event evening this month (you'll have to check your nearest one for dates) you get a goody bag and 10% off anything you buy plus they have talks on all sorts of stuff. You do have to book it though so just give them a ring.

Also when I joined the baby group at mothercare I got a book of vounchers- some of which I used but the rest expired last week so I asked about a new book of vouchers and voila I got given one with dates expiring in December!. They also have a sale on clothes, you have to look around the racks. I bought 4 pairs of pj's (0-3m & 3-6m) for 1/2 price so £3 a pair.

Also jojo maman bebe has 15% off plus free delivery until 30/6 code MTL41. Im looking at the cocooonababy, makes it £110 so if anyone knows where to get it cheaper plse let me know....

Ikea sale start 20th June and if you join the ikea family card and you get an additional 10% off sale prices.

Kiddicare & babies r us sale now on too. Gap have 50% off and/or 15% off online full priced items.

BHS & Tesco and morrisons have a sale on baby clothes etc.

Boots still have 3 for 2 on maternity pads (thick bricks and slim ones too!)

Hope some of the above helps you out. What pushchair have you all plumped for? Im leaning towards the uppababy vista....

don't even Im glad your feeling a little better Smile

ilovemonstersInc · 16/06/2014 15:35

Blossom I posted about that last week ive booked in but not received the invitation in the post which they said I would. Saving shopping til then I need bras!

Ooh thanks whiteblossom might do a bit if sale shopping at the weekend then.

Well I've felt sleepy and out of breath all day today so it's been tiring. Booked my whooping cough jab though and got home to find that DH had put together the chest of drawers for the nursery so that was a nice surprise :)

No idea still what pushchair I'm going for whiteblossom argh. Might just go into a shop, close my eyes, spin round then point at one haha!

holls2000 · 16/06/2014 21:01

I saw an ant in the kitchen today, and rather than dealing with it, I went totally berserk! An hour later, whole kitchen bleached, hoovered twice, mopped and floor scrubbed, skirting boards done. DH had to point out I hadn't had supper....!
Have ordered an icandy peach jogger, and a besafe car seat. That made it all feel so real. Pram and seat in stock so shop holding onto them for now, MIL told me not yo have pram in house so have to find a friend to look after them.....
Have managed to LOSE one of my maternity bras. How is it possible to lose a bra that size?! Jeepers.

DearDinah · 16/06/2014 21:12

I got a second hand oyster babystyle with carrycot, only cost £180. I hope it's ok, will be getting my SIL maxi cosi car seat so that goes on it too, I know they don't recommend 2nd hand car seats but she's only had it 6 months & I know they've not had any accidents, heartburn is beyond a joke now, it started today at 5 o'clock, gaviscon doesn't seem to be touching it, I also discovered stress incontinence today also so that was nice & unpleasant. Best step up the kegels Blush

Cindy5389 · 16/06/2014 21:22

Hey, hope everyone is feeling ok (apart from the cramps, heartburn, tiredness ect - we really don't have an easy ride) I am still getting cramps, tried tonic water, now trying bitter lemon as it also contains quinine and tastes better, but so far no real effect. I did read online that u have to drink loads of the stuff to feel any real benefits, so I'm not holding out much hope.

For any of you with other children.. With regards to nappies, I know a little while ago some of u mentioned about stocking up now. Well they come in so many sizes and brands. Firstly any brands to avoid, and secondly how many boxes/how long did ur baby stay in that size. Coz I don't want to stock up and not use them.

KatharineClover · 16/06/2014 21:32

Hi Cindy - re nappies (I use reusable nappies on DS now! but used to use disposables at the start.) It's hard to say what brand is best as some suit fat legs, some suit skinny tums etc, I found it was trial and error to avoid the leaks and pooexplosions (until I moved to cloth nappies - no leaks!), sometimes one brand worked best for a while, then would start to leak and another one would work best. I think pampers were the best for us, but I'm sure other people will swear by other brands! I also found DS moved up a size well before the upper weight limit on the box. I think he was in size 1 for a short amount of time but can't remember much precisely - I wouldn't stock up too much in advance :) Asda fragrance free wipes are good, and I used their cheapie nappy sacks.

KatharineClover · 16/06/2014 21:37

Had to remove my wedding and engagement rings yesterday as they are tight on my fingers. Heartburn / indigestion are irritating me - I think milky drinks help? I am weird and I like the aniseed flavour gaviscon though!
Our extension is almost finished, there are boxes and stuff absolutely everywhere, but I am surprising serene - I'm putting this down to my natal hypnotherapy CDs and having had a meeting last week with my doula :)

topmammy · 16/06/2014 21:44

Anyone's pets behaving oddly around them? My cats keep being desperate for a fuss and currently I'm laid on the sofa and one of my cats is sat on a table right next to my head staring at me. Haha Confused

Good question about nappies Cindy I got pampers New baby up to 11lb I think. It was BOGOF and I already had another little bag so I've got over 100.... my mum thinks that's probably too many by the look on her face when I told her but oh well!

I think I have got a craving..... ironically for Krave cereal Hmm Just want to eat it all the time and think about it very often while at work lol. Wish I would crave fruit instead!

Teabiscuits · 16/06/2014 22:01

katherine hooray for cloth nappies! I use them on ds and love them. I've got a hire kit coming of tiny newborn ones, then both can share once the new baby has outgrown the tiny ones as I use the one size fits all type. Glad I'm not the only one here who uses them, I tend not to mention them too much as people often think I'm bonkers. Grin

I'll be using disposables in hospital, and I do use the odd one on ds and just go for pampers but mainly out of habit I think. I used pampers before on both DDs, but that was a few years ago when supermarket brands just weren't worth the hassle. I think a lot of supermarkets have better designed ones now.

I also remember signing up to pampers website, and getting money off vouchers in the post but I don't know if they still do that.

Nazly · 16/06/2014 22:44

Ladies what are we allowed to take for heart burn and indigestion ? Apart from gaviston; I am getting desperate now...

White we are also going for uppababy vista, were waiting to see if we can find any in the summer sale, but I doubt these go on sale, as they are popular... Will still wait another couple of weeks before ordering and will look around for deals...

Flowers ella. Ibs is a bitch. Ds doesnt have ibs but think he some type of bowel problem and hes in a lot of pain at times too. Hes 4 in September :(

best thing to do when you get a cramp is walk immediately as soon as yoi feel it coming on. Takes the edge of the pain away. Ive dealt with a lot of cramps in last pregnancy but only1 so far in this. I shot out of bed and started walking dh didnt even flinch!

Nazly when I was pregnant with ds1 I was away in another country and my dad told me to drink half glass of 7up with half glass of milk on top of it in same glass. It actually worked. No harm in trying

Nazly - I've been told ranitidine for heartburn, had to go to hospital last night because of extreme pains just above my bump which they thought could be indigestion (I'm not convinced) and they recommend ranitidine. You can get it from the pharmacist without a prescription.

Ella - IBS is horrid, I had it dreadfully in early preg, but it's settled now. Have you tried peppermint tea? That helped me a lot! Also have you ever looked at the fodmap diet? My mum started it last year and swears by it. It seemed to make a lot of sense to me, and has been thoroughly researched by several top universities, including Kings. Not that cutting things out is easy!

We want the uppababy vista... Just holding off as we need to see where finances are. We've been given an old silvercross travel system, but it's heavy and we can't use the carseat as it's too old!

KatharineClover · 17/06/2014 13:54

Lol teabiscuits I'm cloth nappy bonkers too :)
