hi folks - thought we should have a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
moggle · 06/06/2014 16:43

I am in surrey too, near Walton on thames. Annoyingly we are planning to move about 10 miles or so away before baby is born so can't really book or plan any antenatal classes yet apart from the ones at the hospital.

BrandSnob · 06/06/2014 16:50

Just checking in

Congrats Blamber. I'm glad you and Weeonion are alright

I'm in Surrey too, right on the South West London border.

ladydolly · 06/06/2014 17:11

when will we I'm 18 weeks and off to Dubai today, no note needed if you've had no problems. Just make sure you tell your insurance company.

Also, walking dead, amazing!!! I love it!!!

bunnykitten · 06/06/2014 18:29

I have had my 16 week appointment (am actually 18 weeks) and the midwife listened to the heartbeat which was very exciting. I've now caved in and ordered a doppler!

I'm another one in Surrey, Woking to be specific!

Greenstone · 06/06/2014 18:44

Just marking place :)

BabyButton1 · 06/06/2014 19:26

Ahhh im also close, I'm in farnborough close to Surrey border... :-) we should arrange a bump meet up at done point...

Advise please...I had swabs taken on Monday and the duty doctor called me today to say they were all fine. Later on I got a call back from him to say he had misread my notes and I have bacterial growth in my lady parts. He said I need to start taking penicillin straight away and see my own doctor Monday morning. Said that if not treated it can lead to second trimester miscarriage...has anyone had anything like this before or had to take antibiotics? Sure it's ok just having a little worry...especially because I've been so sick up until now.

Alita7 · 06/06/2014 20:39

good luck baby I hope they've caught it in time.

I am using my doppler to reassure myself and for fun but if there were any signs of problems I would go to the midwife even if there was a normal heart beat.

Blamber congratulations on your baby boy!

So so tired after a long day, had court for dsd, after the conviction for the abuse she suffered when living with her mum was appealed. It was upheld, so am happy about that, and had an absolutely brilliant no nonsense judge who really put the family in their place! Still makes me sad for dsd though. They did, when complaining about the massive fine given to them for appealing, (wanting the tax payers to pay) inform the court that her mum is now pregnant again... worried this is going to be confusing and difficult for dsd who feels extremely pushed out already and not living with the new baby will confuse her, though I she is very excited and happy about me having a baby, she doesn't know about her mums yet and I just don't know how she will react (there were lots of problems when her mums other two were born with her not being included). I also have a suspicion she has done it to replace dsd as she has too many rooms with housing benefit since dsd moved to us and maybe because I'm pregnant, sigh!

moggle · 06/06/2014 20:40

babybutton I'm sure if you get on the antibiotics it will be sorted out pretty quick, I don't think it should cause you too much worry. Easier said than dine though, I know!

bunnykitten we want to move to woking! Are you planning to give birth at St Peters?

MrsWombat · 06/06/2014 20:58

hopeful I'm having baby at QEII and my scans, VBAC appointments etc at QMS. You?

Kantha · 06/06/2014 21:13

Babybutton - I have had to take 3 courses of oral anti-bs so far during this pregnancy and am currently on a 7 week course of topical (cream) AB-steroid combination for a skin infection. I haven't had an infection in my lady parts so can't comment on that, but I just wanted to say that you aren't alone, and it has/does make me worry about the impact on the baby even though I know that they have been careful in what has been prescribed. Thanks

Hopeful83 · 06/06/2014 21:32

MrsWombat - I'm having my appointments at QMS too and the baby at PRUH. I'm pleased with QMS so far, they seem pretty organised.

Baby button - I hope you get it cleared up soon, lots of others on the thread have had antibiotics too. I had a swab earlier but the results came back clear, but the midwife who did it did say that if the results weren't clear, a course of antibiotics would be perfectly safe.

Elliekins · 06/06/2014 21:42

Oh dear, hope you're all better soon Baby.
I would love a Surrey/Berkshire meet-up at some point, I don't know a single other pregnant person within 80 miles of Windsor - half my friends have older children or toddlers and the other half are a LONG WAY off sobering up and starting families so I can feel quite isolated, at least socially.
I'm so bloody glad to have you lot! Smile
There is a Lazy Daisy class in Chertsey/Woking area too, if anyone else interested in joining that then maybe I'll change from High Wycombe to there, it's about equal distance...

Alita7 · 06/06/2014 21:50

would also like a Surrey berks meet up, I am in reading :)

Elliekins · 06/06/2014 21:58

Hooray! Smile

PosyFossilsShoes · 06/06/2014 22:01

Alita that sounds like a really stressful day, glad it went well though and that you're able to support your dsd. Have some well deserved Cake

BabyButton1 · 06/06/2014 22:20

Thank you all for your support :-) I'm hoping I have caught it in time also....i didn't have any major symptoms so thank god they found it now. I'm back on Monday for more tests so hopefully I will know more then...I think it's just first pregnancy panic reaction!!

Blamber congratulations...you can start buying gorgeous blues!! I'm not finding out the sex but I know I'm going to find it really hard at the scan to not find out. I best not cave with excitement.

Surrey/Berks meet - maybe we could meet for coffee or something mid next month when hopefully everyone will have had their 20 week scan and be glowing :-)

bunnykitten · 06/06/2014 23:17

Baby - there are definitely some antibiotics that are safe for pregnancy, so hopefully it should clear up fine.

Moggle - yes, we'll be using St Peters Hospital, and if all goes well I'll be able to use the brand new birthing centre there. I have arranged my antenatal appointments there and have also arranged the basic NCT course which I think is somewhere in Old Woking (I booked early as I was worried they would be full!).

Annarose2014 · 06/06/2014 23:38

Friend of ours just gave me a Baby Bjorn! So excited! Its prob not something we would have splurged on ourselves.

Its making it all very real!

Elliekins · 07/06/2014 01:12

I'm watching One Born Every Minute, I'm an idiot.
I'm going to have nightmares now.

utopian99 · 07/06/2014 06:07

anna that's kind of your friend - baby wearing is great for both of you. If it is a narrow based carrier (some of the new bbs are wider) you can wrap a muslin through the bottom for better/more comfortable hip position for the little one too..

Annarose2014 · 07/06/2014 06:48

Thanks, I have heard they kinda dangle with the BB. I'll have to figure it out. I think my DH will love it more than me actually. He's the sling type.

She's 46 so is done with babies after a suprise baby just last year! You always hear these amazing stories about 45 year olds getting pregnant out ofthe blue but it was still a shock when it happened in our little circle!

MrsWombat · 07/06/2014 07:17

Annarose my SIL gave me my wrap sling back the other day. It made me really happy too! Hopefully you will enjoy baby wearing and will look at other slings once your little one outgrows it. DP loved wearing DS in our Bush Baby. (similar to baby Bjorn)

MrsWombat · 07/06/2014 07:32

I can't believe I've only just found this website, but it gives lots of information and stats on your local hospitals. I've been looking forever for information on VBACS at my local hospitals and was about to do a FOI request. Blush They didn't have anything on the NHS comparison website when I lasted looked. Hope it helps someone, although you've probably picked your hospitals now.

utopian99 · 07/06/2014 08:13

We've got a choice between one 10 minutes away and a better reviewed one 30 mins away. Want to go for the one with better reviews but slightly nervous as ds was a quick birth and second babies are supposed to generally be faster!

Miskate · 07/06/2014 08:58

Mrswombat, that is incredibly useful, thank you
