Plate, Patchwork and Ipsumlorem, I'm with you on the work front. It's getting worrying how few days I have left versus what I would like to achieve.

Drama, hope you are ok. I had a funny spell last week and it was horrible, but fortunately I felt better after about half an hour.

I have started having painful contractions today and yesterday. Before they were just uncomfortable but it has been a definite change having an hour or two of something that feels similar to period pain.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Incapinka · 26/04/2014 00:14

Am peed off... Came to bed at 930 as knackered after 6 months of crap sleep. DH insisted on sleeping in the other room to help me sleep. Fell asleep by 10 and awake by 1130. FFS. Have also had a bit of a sore inner thigh the last month but it's been ok until DH sent me off to ride the horse in the sun this evening thinking it would do me good and the spring grass has sent him hyper. Have now wrenched inner thigh badly causing me to have difficulty moving and now thinking perhaps it's time to stop riding which up until now was the one thing keeping me sane. I obviously feel very lucky to be pregnant, can't wait to meet baby etc but do hate the actual pregnancy process...

In other news DH on new training schedule for IM. First comp on Sunday. Oh whoopee do...

Moan over. One day I will post something jolly on here!

mixi82 · 26/04/2014 04:24

I'm wide awake now... Had a snooze late afternoon so couldn't get to sleep until 1am anyway. Just realised for the first time that I have leaky boobs too!! Is this normal at this stage? I'm 28 wks with first bambino so it's new to me. Better to sleep with a bra and with pads? I don't really know!!

icklekid · 26/04/2014 05:25

Oh the joys of pregnancy- I guess rest is the answer incapinka sad that riding is causing you pain though Sad

mixi totally feel the lack if sleep pain- I think leaky boobs are normal around now and will be investing in those non wired bras to sleep in when it happens to me...With pads if needed!

Everyone at work keeps asking how long I have left, to me seems like ages but could do with it going fast! This week was so busy and only 4 days Envy I also have so much to do but too depressing to think about that...One day/week at a time is my maximum!

Anyone watch shield? I was so confused last night, not helped by falling asleep throughout- we recorded and watched it later than 8 I promise!!!

What are you most looking forward to post pregnancy that is non baby related?
Mine is eating an evening meal without it making me sick! Preferably with a large glass of wine!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 26/04/2014 06:46

Definitely agree on the evening meal/wine front. Blue cheese!

Being able to sleep on my front again. I sneakily try and fool my body into thinking being on my left side is the same by snuggling into the big pregnancy pillow, but it doesn't work, whereupon I find myself edging onto my front and then obviously the baby starts kicking me to move because he's squashed.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 26/04/2014 06:49

Oh and thanks for the ankle sympathy Maggie.

I'm also dreading getting on a bus with a buggy. They (and the Sola we very luckily got for free from a colleague) seem a lot heavier than I thought they would be. Hopefully I can manage with a sling/carrier for tube/bus journeys.

BlueC2 · 26/04/2014 08:24

Another one feeling the pain of yet another atrocious night of non sleep! Soooo frustrating when you're exhausted and desperately need the sleep!

For me I am looking forward to more comfortable and better sleep once baby here (I did manage that last time so hoping for another good sleeping baby!), an end to heartburn and not feeling like a beached whale!!

Just so tired. Grrr

mixi82 · 26/04/2014 08:32

I'm just looking forward to being a little more independent and things like not struggling to bend to put a pair of socks or shoes on! Also, to be able to drive pain free without rib/back ache....ahhhh, will love that!

A nice ice cold glass of beer at a BBQ.....especially as it will be summer, perfecto! :D

Back on baby stuff, I'm going to get a huge sports bra today and breast pads for night sleeping. Put a bra on when i woke up earlier and one boob kept slipping out regardless!!

Incapinka · 26/04/2014 08:34

Better sleep (disrupted by baby but so shattered at least you do sleep rather than this ridiculous pregnancy insomnia). Brie. Being able to breathe deeply. Not having to consciously think on how to get up from the sofa/bed. Having a core again to support my rubbish back. Not having a stomach getting in the way. Being able to sort out naughty spring-grass high horse rather than sitting there hoping he will behave. Riding my road bike. Not seeing a fatty in the mirror! I could keep going on and on for ages. It is all so worth it in the end but I loathe being pregnant. Especially when most of my friends think I am mad for not enjoying it - they loved it! (This makes me question their sanity!)

ellentullo · 26/04/2014 09:11

Whilst it is sad to hear about everyones physical sufferings, I am much comforted that other people are fed up with pregnancy. I have had it easy from the physical point of view but am just so bored of it. With 2 mmcs and this pregnancy, that's 1 year of cumulative pregnancy in 15months.

Was feeling guilty about being fed up, especially with a friend who has just had second failed ivf, but it sounds as though it is a common theme

Plateofcrumbs · 26/04/2014 09:31

Mmm things I'm looking forward to post baby:

-lovely cold pint of lager (I don't even drink pints that often these days but for some reason I'm really craving this)
-running
-guilt-free rare steak and red wine
-Brie and Gorgonzola
-the bottle of cucumber vodka I was bought as a Christmas present, and G&Ts
-pâté on toast
-sleeping which ever way up you feel like
-hot yoga classes

AuntieMaggie · 26/04/2014 10:15

Ha plate I don't usually drink lager either but am really craving a cold pint Grin and exercise lots of lovely exercise! Oh and bending over!

I've just been updating the list of things I need with stuff I bought this week and there's still loads I need I think... if there is anything that's a waste of time on the following can you let me know?

  • 4 fitted crib sheets
  • 4 fitted moses sheets
  • 4 flat sheets
  • baby monitor
  • baby bath
  • bath thermometer
  • baby sponge, nail clippers, scissors, comb
  • baby toiletries (bath, powder, etc)
  • nose sucker thing
  • wash cloths
  • nappy rash cream
  • a selection of different brand nappies
  • breast pads
  • maternity pads
  • cheap knickers (instead of the maternity disposable ones)
  • nipple protectors (not sure I need these but saw them mentioned somewhere)
  • nipple cream
  • dummies
  • sun blinds for car
  • hats

I already have a crib, moses basket, sling, pram, blankets, sleepsuits and vets, muslins, changing mat and a travel cot (damn Aldi)

I wasn't sure whether to bother with those bundler things

ismarah · 26/04/2014 10:30

Ladies, ladies! You're missing a trick: buy Le Rustique camembert, which is pasteurised, then bake it for about 20-30 mins. Voilá, safe cheese!

I'm looking forward to hot yoga and exercise, the ability to use my body like I want to and being taken seriously as a human being again, rather than dismissed as an incubator for something medically more important than me. (Still grr after yesterday!)

I am not looking forward to attempts at breastfeeding, 24/7 attachment and 10 years of the same discussion with my mother about why we choose to live in the UK to raise our child/ren

jaykay987 · 26/04/2014 12:02

for anyone fancying a pint......Becks Blue - when it's been in the fridge for ages is yummy! tastes like the real thing!

BlueC2 · 26/04/2014 12:14

Ellen I often feel guilty for disliking the actually being pregnant thing, having suffered an MMC myself and having many friends who have really struggled to conceive or had losses. Tbh I try not to moan too much irl so I guess it mainly gets expressed here where it's easy to vent and get it out so to speak!

So I'll have another little moan that DH in a foul mood today so we've argued most of the morning (fun?!) which has left me v fed up and even more tired! Have to take DS to a birthday party later on at a soft play place which I'm dreading at the moment-hoping I can just sit quietly somewhere whilst all the kids run riot!

AuntieMaggie · 26/04/2014 12:44

foxtrot sorry I missed your post earlier - hope you're ok.

Plateofcrumbs · 26/04/2014 12:45

jaykay that's the daft thing, I'm happily drinking Becks Blue which is about the only halfway decent non-alcoholic version of anything, but I'm still really craving a pint.

Actually I did find this non-boozy fizz which is pretty nice (unlike alcohol free red wine which the devil's work):

MrsA2 · 26/04/2014 13:04

Just checking in to say hi as we moved house yesterday and appear to now be in an internet black spot til we get internet end of next week. SO glad to have finally completed though. Now surrounded by boxes but at least we (hopefully) have a few weeks to get up straight. And we love our new house.

Glad those of you with the first NCT class this week had a good session.

Speak soon when I have internet again!

ZingWatermelon · 26/04/2014 14:17

Envy Envy Envy @ MrsA

Hurrah MrsA! Smile

Incapinka · 26/04/2014 15:01

Auntie Maggie am very impressed with your list! I didn't bother with a baby bath or thermometer. Initially we used the kitchen sink or had him in the bath with me which was very easy. Also it's only been recently that I have dared to go near him with scissors or clippers. I used a nail file/emery board which was pretty quick and there was no risk of lopping off a finger!

Patchwork88 · 26/04/2014 16:17

Spent this afternoon at nct nearly new sale, which was amazing! Loads of things available in great condition at such a cheap price...totally recommend esp. if you know what you're having' thankfully we're having a surprise otherwise I think we'd have needed a truck to help us home!! articularly pleased with a lovely grobag for a fiver Smile oh and everyone was really friendly and there was some info about local nurseries and water babies etc. and of course yummy cake! All round success and highly recommend!

AuntieMaggie · 26/04/2014 16:33

Oooh patchwork there's a nearly new sale here in a few weeks :)

Another lovely symptom of pregnancy for me is a really flaky scalp - what is up with that?

incapinka my list is a variation from threads on here and other lists... we have a big bathroom so I thought I could sit on the floor with the baby bath rather than bending over the bath but I'm also thinking about one of those baby bath seat things... a friend of mine has always taken her 4 in the shower by showering herself first and then bringing baby in with her... I may try that...

zing or others that have done this before... how many bags did you take into hospital? I'm starting to think one won't be enough!

fifi669 · 26/04/2014 16:43

I took a small suitcase. If you have a straight forward delivery you won't be in that long to be honest. I was in a week due to my blood pressure and people were always coming on with supplies.

Patchwork88 · 26/04/2014 17:20

Blush followed up my bargain hunting with some serious spending in john lewis lol!!!
On the plus side only thing left to get is a changing bag!
oh and top tip today is that boots have 3 for 2 on mum to be pamper stuff (sanctuary, champneys etc)
