Nova - LOL

Booboobedoo · 05/09/2006 16:10

Afternoon ladies.

Fatfox: has pregnancy aged you that much? 65? It's a miracle.

nova: the Portland? Get you!

Had fantastic news today: DH has got a whopping promotion and a decent payrise, starting the end of this month! Couldn't have come at a better time, tbh. Were racking our brains to think how we were going to manage, as mortgage is going up by £200/month at the end of September.

Very happy.

Sorry to hear about the Mum problems. Hope I'm not going to be like that. Apart from anything else, what do they think they're going to achieve by criticizing you? "Oh, Mum - I hadn't thought of it like that. I'll pop off for a termination now." Seems to me a good chunk of Motherhood is biting your tongue hard.

My Mum is quite tactless, but wonderful. Feel blessed. Hope I'm half as good a Mum as she is to me.

kittywits · 05/09/2006 16:30

thanks for the support, so lovely and makes a real difference

Rosylilly, the card is a great idea, unfortunately for me I'm an only child

We chatted a bit more amicably today and I said I was hurt by various " suggestion" that she had made. She was hoprrified that i thought she ahd meant those things. whether she did pr didn't is irrelevant really. She seems to have calmed down and she is a help and support with the kids. She tries her best but , well you know.

Fatfox and Diva, did you get a chance to check out that site I put up on the mmr thread. It's dead good generally and is worth a look at.

First day back into the mayhem of school runs and playground politics. I feel exhausted already!!

fatfox · 05/09/2006 17:05

Booboodedoo - congrats on DH's big payrise and he good timing - does he want another wife ?

Or a concubine even?

I'm 65 but in quite good condition

I've still got most of my teeth too

Kitty - thought that MMR thread was going to kick off earlier, but I guess everyone disappeared to do the school run!!

fatfox · 05/09/2006 17:17

Kittywits - just looked at that link - its very interesting isn't it?

Wakefield lives round the corner from us (or rather did, until he got driven out of his job) and his kiddies go to DS and DD's school.

There is no relevance to that last point; I'm just namedropping

kittywits · 05/09/2006 17:21

Fatfox I've just booked myself to go on a talk to be given by a famous woman in the field all about the myth of vaccinations. Apparantly she can back up her work with lots of research and studies. Should be interesting.

fatfox · 05/09/2006 17:33

I totally agree about the hysteria. What's the woman researcher's name ? I'd be grateful if you let me know about any other websites like that

Sorry about the highjack everyone

kittywits · 05/09/2006 17:48

She's called Dr Viera Scheibner. If I come accross any other sites I'll let you know.

Yes, sorry about that everyone, normal transmission will be resumed

DollyP · 05/09/2006 18:10

Hello everyone

This should really be a green face as yet again I am feeling pants. I will definitely try the ginger tablets onilly, thank you for the suggestion.

Booboo - congrats on your DH's new job! Fantastic news and very well timed. must be a great weight off your mind.

Kitty - so sorry that you are having mum trouble. My mum is great (we probably exchange cross words about once a week though still) but my MIL is hell on wheels most of the time. Do you need to be in regular contact with her? Sounds like it's really getting to you, I am so sorry.

Very jealous of your portland private room nova -you must let us know what it's like. Have you been before? I'm arse end of march too so you are not alone.

St Thomas ladies - I have had the male sonographer (ooer) in my last pg but not with this one. he's quite dishy isn't he? Yesterday I had a rather unsmiling woman. I am not actually habing the baby in St T's as they woulnd't have me. That pleasure awaits at Kings. Where abouts in London are you? I am in Dulwich and they said I was too far. I was in Kennington last time so they let me in.

Must dash as DD howling. Hope everyone is well today. XXXXX

TheBlonde · 05/09/2006 18:24

DollyP - I'm in Balham. Went to St George's last time with DS. One of my friend's had her LO at Kings - it sounded good there

kittywits · 05/09/2006 18:27

OOh Dolly, I was born and brought up in East Dulwich, next to Goose Green. Which part are you in? I'm Not there now though.
My mum is usful and the kids love being with her so I have to work out the net benefit.

oooggs · 05/09/2006 18:41

Hi all met the midwife today - she was pleasant and new to the area - no other news - just the usual!!

Booboobedoo · 05/09/2006 19:04

DollyP: I'm in Herne Hill! Also having mine at Kings. Was reassured to see that the whole maternity section is in the shiny new Golden Jubilee Wing: some of Kings is grim (esp. the Haemotology Dept).

Think DH has private health insurance as part of his work package, but didn't even cross my mind to check if we were eligible for private antenatal care. TBH, Kings is so good I don't think I'll bother.

So TheBlonde - I'm near you too.

kittywits: I know goose green very well: used to live in Peckham Rye.

We are the Sarf London Massive (getting more massive by the day in my case).

divastrop · 05/09/2006 19:25

evening ladies.
blimey, all these south londoners!im from north of the river originally, but i live in a faraway place now.when i first moved up here i was pg with ds1 and i was worried there wouldnt even be a hospital here,or that if there was it'd be a little cottage with a well outside.
kitty/fatfox,i havent been to the mmr thread recently,i 4got about it,ill have to have a look later.

fatfox · 05/09/2006 20:00

Dolly/Kitty/Booboo - and I used to live in Nunhead!!! Kelvington Road, near Peckham Rye.

small world eh?

Kings is a fanastic place to have a baby.

I had a Greek male sonographer by the way - need I say more

We're in west London now.

Anyone else from greater London?

oooohhhh I can feel a central London pre-birth meet up suggestion coming on.........

fatfox · 05/09/2006 20:05

By the way - any of you going to the Christmas meet up?

I haven't put my name down, as I've been feeling so rough I couldn't imagine gallavanting around London late at night - but would be interested to see if any other ladies with pot bellies are thinking of attending?

We could have a "low alcohol, 2 fags only - oh and make mine worcester source" table in the corner

kittywits · 05/09/2006 20:31

How strange that so many of us are from thar area. It's not like it was when I was a child. I used to love Rye lane, last time I was there it scared me to death!! I'm near Brighton now, but quite often fantasise about packing up and living in a remote farmhouse on France or spain and picking grapes.
In my mind's eye I would always have a beatific smile on my face and my non fighting off spring would be running around blowing dandelion heads in the long grass.... then I wake up.

morocco · 05/09/2006 21:14

stop it, all you Londoners!! you're making me jealous. no-one on here from Bolton I don't expect??
had a right laugh reading some of your posts! but sorry to hear some of you have been having mum troubles - hope they improve with time. How is it mums can always make us feel 15?? Luckily, weirdly, my mum has been so great about this time round, she must be getting practice or something.

where on earth do you live divastrop? no primark?? no mothercare??how do mums manage round there?

oh yes, I second the salt and vinegar crisp addiction!

eidsvold · 05/09/2006 22:19

nope not from London or Bolton

OP posts:
divastrop · 05/09/2006 22:37

i live in barrow-in-furness,in cumbria.i used to visit bolton regularly when i used to live in eccles a few years ago,i liked the market!
im going to write to mothercare and tell them they have till december to open a store here as i will be needing a double buggy and i am not paying £500 for one at the local rip off merchant baby goods store!

Rosylily · 05/09/2006 23:08

ooh I was on holiday in cork last year and I got a FANTASTIC double buggy reduced in a 2 bit shop from 900 euros to 200 euros. lucky eh? It practically pushes itself. Had to have another baby so can get even better use out of it.

I had a look on mmr thread and it got me all worried and confused. I hope research into it all becomes clearer soon. There is so much we still don't understand about health.

My ms is fading nicely thank goodness and I have arranged some free time for myself every week for me, me, me. suddenly everything seems good!

On the head ache thing, Strangely I suffer hideous migraines regularly but when pregnant, nothing! So I can't wait for menopause cuz I think migraines will go away for me then.

LaidbackinAsia · 06/09/2006 05:13

Morning all !

PLEASE can we have an embargo on talking about salt and vinegar crisps until saturday when I arrive in England . I literally salivate on the computer keyboard when I read about them ....

Sarf London Massive - I did my post graduate training at St Georges Hospital Medical School and so was 'Tooting' it up for a year .

Kitty - I lived in Brighton before moving to Sri Lanka - where abouts are you - Worthing way or east of Brighton ? We moved out to Sri Lanka to live a more organic and herbal life IYKWIM. It is a totally different pace - but my fantasies about washing my hair in a river a la Timotei adverts have not quite been accurate ! AND I still crave western "luxuries" like the above mentioned crisps.

Very jealous of the women here seeing tasty male sonogrophers - my last one looked like a female russian shotputter

kittywits · 06/09/2006 06:46

laidbackinasia I'm right between Brighton and Lewes. It's about 4 miles between each one, sort of due north I suppose. You're on early!

fatfox · 06/09/2006 09:15

Laidback : PMSL at Russian shotputter!

When you return to Sri Lanka will you take a suit case full of crisps with you?

I used to work with aguy who carried this really posh looking brief case round with him all day. One day he opened it on his desk and it was full of granny smiths. No paperwork, just granny smiths!

pennygaff · 06/09/2006 09:30

Morning
Can't wait to meet my sonographer, still waiting for scan date, I have pestered hospital but they won't tell me over the phone.
Does anybody know the Royal Surrey, nr Guildford?
OK I will not mention the 'C' word, but lets just say salt and vinegar or nothing else will do.
Hope all Bumps are padding out nicely, I have found my Next Maternity Jeans to be Number 1.
