New thread ladies. I should really leave it to someone who can link the old one. Can someone add the edd list and whatnot? Or maybe we should start again now edds are changing after scan.

Just been looking into the hypnobirthing classes in my area. £250.....don't think that's inmy price range which is a shame, it looks amazing!

tak1ngchances · 04/04/2014 10:04

So far this morning these things have made me feel sick:
My face cream
Brushing teeth
Putting on jewellery
Going into the bathroom
The smell of petrol
The smell of paint

I am 1/4 way to work and really suffering. Dr has prescribed Cyclizine, is anyone else on that?

Kirstipops · 04/04/2014 10:15

MrsB I'm the same, I will just be using the CDs, I watched a rundown of the CD's By Maggie Howell on YouTube, she didn't even mention classes so I think the CDs and book alone would help even if you didn't go to any classes.

mrsb87 · 04/04/2014 10:34

tak1ng I was on cyclizine at the start of my hg. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, didn't touch the sickness! I was put on stemetil, avomine, prochlorperazine, metoclopramide and domperidone before they gave me ondansetron which has stopped the sickness but the nausea is still there!
They might work for you if your only getting the nausea though.

Thanks kirsti could you put some links on the fb page??

Excellent scan news everyone! Congratulations! Grin
Re potty training, we potty trained DS just after Christmas when he was 22 months. We stayed in for a whole week (which was really hard for me as I like being out) and did lots of nice indoor activities. He was bare bummed for the first 4/5 days then in pants. At first they're not able to identify the sensation of needing to go if they have anything on. I put him on the potty according to body language or if he said he needed to go. As someone else said from then on no more nappies in the day - pull ups etc are essentially nappies and can be confusing. You are looking for a 75% success rate in the bare bummed week, if it's less then they're not ready. When we started going out I took him to the toilet every half an hour for the first month, every hour for the second and now every hour and a half. We also used a musical potty, stickers for wees and chocolate buttons for poos. It's helpful to have a portable seat for when you're out and about at first until they're confident balancing. Good luck!

Loulou888 · 04/04/2014 11:09

excited if she's not ready don't stress over it. We kept trying ds and he just was not interested. We left him another month or two and hey presto! When he did he was dry in the day and night too.

sazzlehopes · 04/04/2014 12:21

Pebble i get the sneeze pain all the time...so i reckon enough of us are having it not to worry!

Excited We did it with ds at 2 and a bit, he went mad about sitting on the potty, refused, threw tantrums etc nothing worked, but as soon as we got him to go on the toilet (with the portable potty as the seat and then we took that out with us) it was a win and easy(ish!!) I think the excitment of getting on a stool, and flushing a big toielt helped with being exciting?! Who knows?!! First 3 days a few accidents, then suddenly nailed it. Rewards helped, as did the Pirate Pete potty book. My inlaws bought it and I thought it was stupid and naff, but actually it may have helped a bit to read a story about it all? I agree, go cold turkey, just pants so they know what 'wet' feels like, no pull ups. But also, if they are just not ready don't push it as it'll just be awful for you an them. Good luck Grin

binkybunny · 04/04/2014 12:31

Is anyone else running out of foods they can stomach. Having now thrown up after most of my favourite foods I cant eat or even think about them without feeling ill. I'm actually getting stressed out about what I can eat now! Salmon and dauphinoise potatoes with brocolli is about the only thing I look forward to :-( Hoping its just a temporary thing!

LondonJen · 04/04/2014 12:44

Thanks for the welcome Kirstipops

Pebble that sounds like round ligament pain to me. I read it feels like an elastic band snapping back and that's what I have experienced when coughing! It happens when you cough or sneeze or stand up too quickly. Worth a google. ps I only know this cos it was mentioned on another thread I am on and I had to google it!

Bump I got told the same things as you at my scan but on the sheet of paper for my file it also said 'liver visible' and same for a few other organs.

Great to hear about good scans and twins! So exciting!

Loulou888 · 04/04/2014 13:32

Still waiting for my 12 week scan appointment. How much notice did the appointment letter give to you?

Kirstipops · 04/04/2014 13:44

I think I only got about a week and a half loulou. Why not try to chase it up, just incase your letter has been lost in the post?

Loulou888 · 04/04/2014 14:20

Just rang hospital to speak about scan....Why am I not surprised nothing as yet from midwife grrrr it's Easter school holidays over next 2 weeks and I can't get anyone to have my children at a drop of a hat. Rang midwives who say "hospital always say that but we don't resend we will chase it next week" Plus nieces birthday week on Sunday supposed to be going swimming etc I didn't want to tell anyone that I'm pregnant until after scan but big belly in swimming costume may slightly give it way.... Angry

mum2kiss · 04/04/2014 14:35

You tagged me about hypnobirthing kirtipops but I think you meant to tag mrs b! Lol

You ladies are making me.feel curious about it though. £250 deifnitely wont be happening for me but as I now know that pain relief will be unlikely im thinking some sort of relaxation method.might be good for me.

Thanks to those who posted crl lengths. Ive come to their conclusion that if my babynis older than she says I dont think it will be more than a few days or so...I just hope we dont get the same sonographer for the 20 week scan!

My appointment for 20 wk scan came today. 27th May...in the half term so I plan to take dd to try and help her come to terms with the idea!

Kirstipops · 04/04/2014 15:01

Haha thanks mum2kiss, that's what I get for rushing in my lunch break!

ExcitedCJ · 04/04/2014 15:24

Sazzle thanks for the book tip, just ordered the Princess version, we have the portable toilet seat, must start taking it out. No accidents today & we have been to the beach & out for lunch, she even did a pee in the coffee shop toilets. Choc buttons & a silly song & dance I made up this morning have got us on the right foot today! We went nappy free from last Saturday, I think she is prob 75% there. Thanks so much again for all the tips & support, I needed it yesterday when both DD, DH & myself were covered in poo! :(

Mrsb & Mum2 I paid £250 for the Hypnobirthing last time and ended up as EMCS due to pre-eclampsia, however I would say that I was tremendously calm when they told me they were going to have to get baby out NOW & the spinal etc didn't bother me a jot as I was practicing my 'being in a calm place.' However, my point is, I lent my friend the book & CD, which she read the night before she went into labour with #2 & she had an easy natural birth & attributed it to the techniques she read. She had #3 at home!
I'm going to look into the hypnotherapy, armed with both if I get a chance to have a non surgical birth I could just pop the baby out in Tesco & get back to my groceries!! :)

mrsb87 · 04/04/2014 15:49

I don't disagree that it's worth every penny cj, its just we couldn't even think about spending £250 knowing we have so much to prepare for.

porcito · 04/04/2014 15:59

Wow more twins! Congrats on all the good scans, everyone! I think here in Mexico if I mentioned hypnobirthing they might deport me but it sounds great. I might look into the CDs and try do something with that.

Yesterday, being the clumsy oaf I am, I fell over, in front of a whole class. I went about 4 hours without panicking, then after the pain didn't go away, took myself off to the poor doctor again. Baby was fine, covering its eyes with its fingers like a little tree frog. I've got some weird medicine that doesn't even exist in the UK to stop what she said were contractions caused by the fall (eek). Today I'm not moving from my chair. Was clumsy enough before growing a human!

mum2kiss · 04/04/2014 16:33

Im the same as mrs b...We've just shelled out for nct classes...theres not a cat in hells chance dp will agree to spending another £250 on classes and if im honest I wouldnt even want to push the subject because I know it would mean me sacrificing some maternity leave :(

ExcitedCJ · 04/04/2014 17:09

Sorry, I don't mean, spend the money, I mean, you don't have to! The book & CD seemed to work just fine for my friend! I'm all about being economical...

mum2kiss · 04/04/2014 17:14

Gotcha ;) will have to do some investigation...I can imagine those cds mist be like gold dust!

Kirstipops · 04/04/2014 17:26

They're a tenner to download or a bit cheaper to buy used on Amazon :)

pebble82 · 04/04/2014 17:56

I bought the natal hypnotherapy cds and book from amazon for about 18.

won't be doing classes as with everything I've ever learnt (uni courses etc) I never find face yo face learning of any extra benefit to learning myself at home.

In terms of letters bring sent about scans I've not had any. My midwife just wrote the dates in my notes for me to find. I had no idea where to go so had to assume they were at the maternity department of the hospital. They weren't! Scans are at the ante natal clinic next door. That now seems obvious but when you've never been there and don't know the different buildings (very limited on signage!) how I was supposed to know that I'm not sure. My 20 week scan is on 30th May according to a scrawl in my notes. I'll probably ring them nearer the time to double check as no official paperwork.

Not overly impressed with communication or service so far. The community midwife was lovely. The hospital staff were grumpy, running late and I felt like I was on a production line. Hope the birth centre is slightly more welcoming.

ohthegoats · 04/04/2014 18:08

I've just had to go on the long dreaded trip to buy a swimming costume (for gym and for holiday), and a bikini for my holiday that starts on Monday. I HATE buying those things, it's just a minefield of cellulite wobbles and body panicking. I went to Bravissimo, where some lovely, lovely woman spent ages sorting changes for me - I ended up with frilly polka dot bikini bottoms, and a bright red top - no hiding behind a black one piece then. But really, frilly bottoms are GREAT, they cover up a multitude of sins, and detract from the gut issue too. Also went bright red polka dot swimming costume. First time I've felt confident about looking decent in swim stuff in YEARS. Maybe pregnancy will sort out my body issues, I mean - it's not just my body anymore is it.

pebble82 · 04/04/2014 18:21

Ohthegoats every time I go away I go into a panic about my body and every time I get there I look around and see all kinds of women with bigger thighs, flabbier guts, wrinklier skin than me looking twice as confident and more fabulous. What I've now learnt is no one else is bothered so if you accept your body you'll have a much better time. Even skinny tanned 18 year old beauties have insecurities.

I'm actually looking forward to flaunting my bump in Portugal this year. I now have everything I've ever wanted so if anyone thinks I look fat I couldn't care less :-)

CareBearWithFangs · 04/04/2014 18:29

I wonder if they have any sort of natal hypno stuff on iTunes. I don't have anything you can play CDs on in the house, just my car.

I can't remember who said down thread about running out of food they can stomach but that's how I feel too! I'm living off toast and jacket potato's.
