It did a bit. We really enjoy diving and snorkelling together, which won't work with a little one in tow! We were discussing whether we could persuade friends with kids to holiday with us in future so we each get some time off!

That sounds "unhelpful". We considered whether or not we wanted to go somewhere where we would be a minimum of a 45 min boat ride even from an island with a hospital (let alone the actual hospital) but decided that our desire to go our favourite relaxing place for what will hopefully be our last holiday by ourselves for a while overrode that concern. I did check with my travel insurance that I would be covered for pregnancy travel before I went though. And then just enjoyed a fabulous holiday!

We'll all still be hanging around Bugs Grin

FriendofDorothy · 13/04/2014 21:49

Nah I'll still be here in October with a baby hanging off my saggy nips.

ALittleFaith · 13/04/2014 22:00

bugs everyone thinks that but it never seems to happen. Most of the 'recent' layers are still here. I can't see why you won't be able to go.

Tomorrow Faithlet and I will be having our last breast feed on her 1st birthday. I feel rather emotional about it all Confused Sad But I am looking forward to taking anti-histamines and feeling less hayfevery!

FriendofDorothy · 14/04/2014 09:22

sigh just had a quick visit to the antenatal ward as I haven't felt much movement.

The midwife took ages to find the heartbeat which did nothing for my anxiety levels but she found it in the end.

I think my current stressful situation is making me feel very over-anxious at the moment.

FrankelandFilly · 14/04/2014 10:15

Oh Dor that's very stressful. Glad everything is ok though.

We've had a stressful morning, E screamed off and on for an hour and a half from 8.30am. I mean proper screaming, almost like she was in pain Sad i ended up in floods of tears as I just could t calm her down. Every time is tried to offer her boob she just screamed louder, despite showing all the signs of being hungry. She's now exhausted herself and is asleep on my chest, and it just hope she'll be calmer when she wakes up.

eurochick · 14/04/2014 10:18

bugs I hit 20 weeks last week when I was away. It was a nice milestone to reach, but I am still hanging on for the reassurance (hopefully) of the 20 week scan. Centime has been a bit small at all points so far (including being only 5 cells at embryo transfer) so I have a niggling worry about her developing ok.

I haven't felt the bubbles or butterfly sensations people describe but I can definitely detect activity in there. The two things that have prompted most activity so far have been turbulence on the plane and snorkelling (being on my front and then upside down when I duck dive to look at stuff must be novel for her). :) There has not been anything I could describe as a kick though, so it'll be interesting to see if there is movement during my scan tomorrow so I can see if what I think I am feeling is actually what I am feeling.

I'll no doubt still be hanging around here then (I'm still on the BESH fred, after all). And hopefully there will be a couple more PESH by then! We are overdue another clusterdiff.

dor you are having an enormously hard time of it. It's not surprising that you are feeling anxious.

FrankelandFilly · 14/04/2014 10:25

Euro I've heard lots of people say they feel more movement when swimming. What time is your scan?

SinkyMalinks · 14/04/2014 11:26

Hum. Can only get on mn on my phone. After the password change/hacking thang I can't get my laptop or iPad to let me on - the reset option crashes every time!

Frank - sorry E's being a grump. I had a rubbish night with R. Mum has just taken him out for a walk to give me a break. I'm wondering if this is his 3 week growth spurt? Could this be E's 6 week one a bit early?

eurochick · 14/04/2014 12:00

Sorry for those of you suffering with grumpy unsettled babies at the moment.

sinks I can understand that feeling. I think I'll be offered it too, as we're in London. I reacted badly to it though (allergic reaction) and so it'll have to be carefully discussed. I do know someone who lost a lung to TB though (in fact despite being vaccinated) so the risks are considerable. I'll have to see what is advised in centime's case.

That's interesting about the swimming. I've been feeling similar sensations since about 17-18 weeks (mostly when dropping off to sleep or waking up) but thought it was just stretching at first. Talking of stretching, my belly button is now half out and it was very painful getting to that point. I had a laproscopy 18 years ago and they did a terrible job of stitching up the belly button scar, and the scar tissue is not enjoying stretching.

My scan is not until late afternoon tomorrow, and annoyingly I know have a work social event to go to afterwards, so I can't enjoy the early finish! I'll try to check in between the two, but if I can't then it'll be a late evening update.

SinkyMalinks · 14/04/2014 13:59

Waiting for jab. I feel sick and want to cry. Wish GHJ was here. I need a fish slap and a healthy dose of man the fuck up.

maamalady · 14/04/2014 14:12

You will be fine, sinks, and so will minisinks. The jab and the pus and the scarring are all infinitely preferable to your gorgeous boy contracting TB, so doing this makes you a Good Parent. :)

SinkyMalinks · 14/04/2014 14:51

Tis done. Fed him straight after. To be fair, think it was worse for me than him.

FrankelandFilly · 14/04/2014 14:59

Well done Sinks, as Draf said this makes you a Good Mum.

GingerScouse · 14/04/2014 15:27

Thirds the "good mum" comments. I'm still a bit Shock that people choose to deliberately not immunise their children against preventable diseases if there are no discernible side effects.

I have no problem with people doing their research and then deciding it's not for them, but most people just go off the Daily Fail sensationalist headlines and don't do it.

maamalady · 14/04/2014 16:24

Shock is right, ginge - I don't understand it either. Unless your child is vulnerable due to immunosuppression etc, I can't see any credible reason not to vaccinate.

The tuberculosis high/low risk by area is curious, though. I have never been vaccinated against TB, because I've lived in low-risk areas at the times at which I would otherwise have received the vaccine. I'm not guaranteed to stay in those low-risk areas, though, and I may take part in high-risk activities. I don't understand why it's not standard to vaccinate in every part of the country. Maybe it's a cost thing rather than a scientific one.

Bugs I remember the first trimester exhaustion well.

And yes, euro, we told ours specifically almost as soon as we walked in. Because she didn't ask.

I don't think I've bloomed at all during this pregnancy! I still feel shattered!
