Differs and breast feeders are only allowed black and white bras full stop. You don't need special maternity bras, if you don't want underwires any soft cup will do. Hotmilk have nice but rather pricey differ bras if you want something sechsy.
Glad to hear GP is behaving nicely now.

I would like to complain about how hideous the third trimester is when you have a toddler. I still have over 11 weeks to go!

FriendofDorothy · 03/04/2014 13:40

I am sporting a rather lovely electric blue Bravado bra today.

I am having one of those days where my head is being a bit mental. I am currently worrying that the umbilical cord might get around her neck and she will die in utero. I know it is unlikely and I don't know why my head is doing unhelpful things today :(

Ooh crib has just been delivered!!!! I hope it works with our bed, if I have to send it back I will be back to the drawing board.

Dor the worries are so normal. I am paranoid about all sorts. It is much better now I am getting lots of movement.

FriendofDorothy · 03/04/2014 14:23

Which crib did you buy in the end?

maamalady · 03/04/2014 14:30

Heh, same here, there has to be kicking every now and again or I get paranoid. It doesn't help that you're told to keep track of baby movements, which I'm pretty bad at tbh - does "movement generally in early morning, late evening, and at some point in the afternoon" count?

Bravado do colours, do they? Excellent, I shall be investigating that...

Excellent panicked cry, faif! Glad things are a bit better today, sinks :)

Today I am 29 weeks and officially in the third trimester. HOLY CRAP. Shock It's like some weird dream. June still seems a long way away, but eleven weeks doesn't sound like much compared with twenty-nine...

Sorry things have been tough sinky! Pleased you got some excellent advice on here.

Totally normal dor. Like draf I panic whenever Lembie has a sneaky snooze (or I actually have a few productive hours and fail to notice his stirrings). My midwife explained the other day that a cord round the neck is not something to worry about, because they don't need to breathe until the umbilical cord gives in after birth. It was vaguely convincing, but I forgot half her reasoning. Is your midwife helpful, mine was and told me I could come in and have a listen whenever I needed it...

Hurrah for the reduced bloat bugs. You really do not need to have a bump yet, it will come sooner than you expect. I was in normal clothes til 16 weeks, and comfortable, except after too much food. How much longer til your next scan? Btw I didn't buy differ bras, just a normal one a size or three up. Mine is bright red! I bought it at 12 weeks and have worn it nearly every day since. Perhaps I should invest in one more Wink

Hurrah for the crib kat. You're very organised. My MiL is currently redoing the lining on the moses basket my sister used for her three children. So we'll soon have our first bit of baby furniture... About time too. I am finding third trimester quite knackering sans toddler, kat, so you have my respect!

KatAndKit · 03/04/2014 14:56

Bugs you probably won't have a noticeable bump till 20 weeks! First time round I just looked a bit fatter up to about 5 months.

Crib is chicco next 2 me. Was very hard to find one in stock anywhere. Its a bedside crib but you can zip up the side if you want to.

FrankelandFilly · 03/04/2014 15:17

Hurrah for crib delivery Kat

Bugs my bump didn't start to show till 17 weeks and looking back at my photos I didn't look properly preggo till about 22 weeks.

Just got back from the breast feeding group. The lactation consultant said she thought the reason my nipple is taking ages to heal is because E's mild tongue tie is causing her to latch on too shallowly. Unfortunately when I saw the GP about it he refused to refer her on to have it snipped on the NHS as it was "only minor". The LC was not surprised when I told her which surgery I was under as she said she'd seen lots of women under the same surgery and that, in her experience, the surgery was very unsupportive of breast feeding.

She's recommended I vary feeding positions (currently attempting rugby ball, with some success) so that she doesn't keep traumatising the same area. If in a couple of weeks it hasn't resolved, which it may do as E grows and her mouth gets bigger, I'm to go back and see her as she can do tongue tie snips privately. It'll cost £175 though Shock

CatsCantFlyFast · 03/04/2014 16:26

Frank is the antibiotic cream helping? I'm off to my doc this afternoon as the crater crack on my right nipple has got to the point where I'm in tears at the thought of latching her on that side

FrankelandFilly · 03/04/2014 16:39

It is working slowly Merks but I think that until the latch issue is resolved, either through growth or snipping the tongue tie, I don't think it will be able to heal fully. I know what you mean about the thought of the pain, I usually end up panting, wriggling my toes and clutching hold of something to get through the first 10 seconds.

CatsCantFlyFast · 03/04/2014 16:56

What I don't understand Frank is why the pain goes after the initial 10 seconds, if it was related to the crack surely it would hurt the entire time she is on there?
I read and thought I was prepared for how hard breastfeeding would be, but this is both mental and physical torture at times. Give me another labour over this any day!

FrankelandFilly · 03/04/2014 17:04

The LC said there is some evidence that the pain receptors switch themselves off. Don't ask me any more than that though!

Completely agree about how hard it is. It's a good thing I'm a stubborn old cow, I can completely understand why most women have given up within 6 weeks. In some ways the mental aspect is worse than the physical because you convince yourself you are a failure and that your baby hates you. Thankfully I think I'm over the worst of the baby blues, I still get a bit teary once or twice a day but it's not the floods of tears I had before, and a lot of it is related to HWHNN going away rather than strictly baby stuff.

CatsCantFlyFast · 03/04/2014 18:03

Yes the tears are great aren't they, I have caught VVTM giving me some interesting looks when I am crying in frustration again and he is trying to help.
Waiting to see the doctor now and for his own sake he best be helpful else he will get all of my hormonal tears and rage full force. God help him if he suggests topping up with formula Grin

CatsCantFlyFast · 03/04/2014 18:04

Oh and I agree about the stubbornness...it's all that is keeping me going when my last shred of sanity has disappeared in the middle of the night
Sinks thinking of you and hoping today has been easier

CatsCantFlyFast · 03/04/2014 19:07

Result, oral antibiotics acquired. He said maybe an infection though there's no visible signs. Roll on the next 48 hours and FX they make a difference

maamalady · 03/04/2014 19:09

Glad you've got something, merk :) fingers crossed it works!

OP posts:
FrankelandFilly · 03/04/2014 19:23

Well done Merks. I've got to use the cream for 2 weeks and if it's still not better go back for oral antibiotics. The things we do eh?!

CatsCantFlyFast · 03/04/2014 19:44

If the antibiotics work I will be a bit Confused that It wasn't suggested sooner
