One tip I read if you're struggling with the initial latch is to express until you feel your let down then offer baby the boob. Worth a try? Hope the cream kicks in quickly Frank.

I think we're on our last two weeks of BF now. She's not as fussed as she was and I want to take antihistamines before my hayfever really kicks in! I can't believe she'll be one in less than a fortnight.

bugs glad the fybogel is helping. Nice to see you MissH, congratulations!

draf I stopped growing at such an alarming rate later on but yes, you will feel huge!

CatsCantFlyFast · 01/04/2014 18:33

I don't feel a let down as such, should I be able to? yet another thing to worry about

ALittleFaith · 01/04/2014 19:00

I don't feel my let down. I only know when it happens when I see myself producing milk into the pump!

CatsCantFlyFast · 01/04/2014 19:26

phew, not just me then

Today's worry is all stitches and foof related (stitches have fallen out and 2 bits of my skin that should be joined appear not to be) but i am too wimpy to call anybody

eurochick · 01/04/2014 20:41

I hope the cream does the job, frank.

merk I know nothing of foof stitching, but it seems to me that it would be better to get it seen before it heals too much the wrong way?

FrankelandFilly · 01/04/2014 20:45

I don't think I feel my let down, though I do sometimes get a pinching sensation in my shoulder blade. A couple of times I've spotted a little jet of milk squirting out, when E prematurely d'état he's herself. I managed to squirt in her eye the other day Blush

I've applied the cream once and already it feels so much better. Here's hoping we might actually make some progress!

FrankelandFilly · 01/04/2014 20:47

Are you still under the midwife Merks? If not does your health visitor run a drop in clinic you can go to?

CatsCantFlyFast · 01/04/2014 20:58

I've the health visitor on Friday. Everything looks a bit too healed already so petrified of what they will suggest

KatAndKit · 01/04/2014 21:19

You need the midwife or the gp to check your stitches, its not really be health visitor thing. Phone the ward and hopefully they will send a midwife to visit you.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 02/04/2014 08:26

Merk I wouldn't wait til Friday, follow wise kat's advice!

Hurrah for the cream helping and for the image of squirting milk in E's eye, frank. You're doing well!

Pleased the CS was reasonably okay sinks. Although I hated the recovery from my lap - where they did no more than look...

AFM I just need to let you know that between my laptop and my bump my lap is very full. I am now officially bigger than I estimate and keep bumping into things...

No way are you a 36! Are you adding 4 inches? If so you don't need to do that.you should probably be in a 32. I am way bigger than you and I only need a 36 when pregnant. Look at the bra intervention threads. I think Hester did that ànd had good results. My bet is you will be fitting a 32 c/d.

KatAndKit · 02/04/2014 12:24

If you get measured don't go to mothercare or marks. John lewis are generally good for fitting. Marks bras are fine but they do the measuring the old way so you never get a good supportive flattering bra.

I second kat's estimation. I am 34 inches now (and that is having gained in the past couple of weeks now Lembie's bum is poking in my ribs). I'd get a 34 C/D so that you can do a bit of growing and are comfortable and well supported. You are LOADS skinnier than me!

maamalady · 02/04/2014 12:53

Whenever I've used the bra intervention guides (or got a professional fitting at bravissimo) I end up with a band so tight it hurts like fuck. I'm currently in a bog standard non-wired bra from debenhams and gloriously comfortable. I don't give a crap if the bra is the "wrong" size - it does the job and it doesn't hurt :)

I wonder if bra intervention works better for those with less fat around the ribs? When I tried bras as per those guidelines I was almost in tears by the end of the day as the bottom of the wires was digging in so badly. It probably wouldn't have had the opportunity if I wasn't such a lardarse.

If they are spilling over the top it is because the cup is too small. Try a 32 d and a 34 c and d I agree sometimes if you just go by your under bust measurement it can be too tight, especially in pregnancy when you are expanding. There is no reason why a skinny person can't be an e cup by the way! If you are going to go soft cup look at bravado bras they cover more than one cup size as they are stretchy and extremely comfy albeit entirely non sexy.

eurochick · 02/04/2014 13:12

I couldn't agree more draf! A bra isn't the "right" size if it is so bloody uncomfortable I rip it off as soon as I walk through my front door! I'll stick to my method of trying a few sizes on and seeing what works.

I tried the bra intervention method once and ended up with a 32D. Feck that hurt. I'm much happier as a 36B (non-pregg).

I'm in Bravado nursing bras. Sizing is so easy as they just do small, medium and large Grin

Been out this morning to the drop in clinic, E his now tipping the scales at 9lb4oz - she's gained 10oz in 6 days Shock Guess my milk is working then!

KatAndKit · 02/04/2014 13:36

If you look on the bravissimo site there is a visual guide to checking if your bra fits. Print it out and take it to a cheaper shop. Trying on is essential unfortunately if you want a good fit. Sports bras are good for pregnancy and I think primark do a cheap one.

Good going on the chubbing up frank! She is clearly getting gold top from you :)
Am beginning to think about getting some stuff ready now I am in third trimester. Most of my hospital bag last time was useless stuff. Brain is too foggy to remember the stuff that is actually required.
