Sounds good, sinks :) I'm quite daunted by the idea of a caesarean, as the laparoscopy laid me low last year even though it healed quickly and easily. A c section is surely much more intense as it's a bigger wound?

That sounds great sinks. V impressive, particularly after that marathon labour.

SinkyMalinks · 31/03/2014 18:26

I wouldn't have chosen a c section (obviously!), but I'm absolutely certain it was the best for me and minisinks (well, the only option..). I've found it certainly no harder than my laparotomy, but I was in hospital for the first 3 days, availability of strong painkillers and the distraction of a baby may have helped. It really hasn't been the end if the world, and in my eyes preferable to the forceps recoveries I saw while I was in.

SinkyMalinks · 31/03/2014 18:43

Laparoscopy, not laparotomy of course!

MissHobart · 01/04/2014 08:40

Bugs - if you're taking about constipation, I tried fybogel this week and nothing Hmm . GP told me to get lactulose, I'm hoping it's going to take effect with a vengeance today! Grin

MissHobart · 01/04/2014 08:45

Sorry, should have read more before jumping in Hmm

SinkyMalinks · 01/04/2014 09:10

You don't have to creep anywhere mrsH. PESH freds and besh freds can happily mix! But I think bugs is a bit of a laxative expert by now!

bugs I have found my boobs hurt just before they have a growth spurt.

MissHobart · 01/04/2014 10:54

Thanks! I'm holding out for a few more weeks before I "graduate" Grin

FriendofDorothy · 01/04/2014 11:44

This pregnancy I have found my nips really hurt every now and then. Lovely.

maamalady · 01/04/2014 12:13

Ooo, MissH, did you get a BFP?! Hurrah! I don't feel I can go on the BESH threads any more, so am behind on how everyone's doing. Congratulations, and come on over whenever you're ready Grin

Today I am wearing a maternity summer dress. My belly is HUGE - how can it possibly keep growing for another 11 weeks?! Shock Cake

Careful what you wish for Bugs Wink

My boobs got very veiny in pregnancy too and I went from a 34A to a 38B. My tip would be don't bother with maternity bras while you are pregnant, they're twice the price of an ordinary bra and a plain non-wired t-shirt bra will do the job just as well. They're not very flattering though Hmm

I'm waiting for a call back from my Dr to see if I can get an emergency appointment today. My nipple is agony and I'm worried it might be infected. If nothing else I'm going to ask for stronger painkillers as paracetamol and ibuprofen just aren't cutting it any more Sad

Hmm Dr called back, I'm to go and see my health visitor at the clinic first (Thursday). If she turns round and says it's infected and I need antibiotics I won't be impressed.

The main issue is pain as E first latches on. Once she's on, and stays on, the pain goes after about 10/20 seconds. It hurts if my clothes rub against it, but is managing that with breast pads and breast shells. My concern is that it doesn't seem to be getting better. The LC said it should improve once we fixed the latch, which I feel we have done, but I'll go along again on Thursday afternoon to get her to check it again.

CatsCantFlyFast · 01/04/2014 14:01

Frank I have toe curling excruciating grit my teeth and kick my legs kind of pain for the same time at latch on, particularly on my cracked nipple but also on the one that visually looks fine. Somebody said to me that their latch/let down was always this painful Shock Anyway it doesn't help you but you have my full sympathy. The only thing that helped somewhat with my cracked nipple was a day of half as many feeds on that side, feeding with a nipple shield and almost an entire tube of lanisoh. The difference the next day was noticeable but I still hate the latch/let down

FrankelandFilly · 01/04/2014 14:03

I'm trying to feed from the other breast more, but the painful one gets really engorged. I've tried expressing but I can never relieve enough of the pressure, it's almost easier to grit my teeth and let her feed from it.

I'm going to head out for a walk shortly, bit of fresh air should do us both some good.

eurochick · 01/04/2014 15:03

frank I ended up buying the non-wired t-shirt bras from M&S you recommended. I just bought a couple more last week, having stayed the same size for the past 10 weeks and now I seem to be busting out of them. Grrrr.

Breast feeding sounds hard...

FrankelandFilly · 01/04/2014 15:04

Result! Turns out the person who called me back was not a Dr but one of the nurses, she passed notes of her conversation with me on to the duty Dr who's just called back to say she's writing me a prescription for antibiotic cream which I can collect in a few hours. That makes me feel a whole lot better.

maamalady · 01/04/2014 15:11

Oh good, Frank, hopefully it'll make everything more comfortable :) Hopefully breastfeeding will get easier for you and for merks as time goes on - I guess all those stories saying "don't believe breastfeeding is easy" are right, eh?

It's all sunny and warm here, it's really nice and I'm in a good mood. Also HOTB is coming home from an overnight trip away as we speak, hurrah! He has picked up the family crib while he's been away - now that will be a scary thing to have in the house! That makes it real Shock On the plus side, we now have hundreds of clothes, nappies, pram, car seat, and a crib, so should be able to cope even if baybee arrives significantly early.

KatAndKit · 01/04/2014 15:22

Breastfeeding can be hard at first. Fortunatrly if you can get through the problems of the early weeks it is plain sailing after that for most people. I think ideally you have to give it six weeks to establish.

FrankelandFilly · 01/04/2014 15:29

That's what in holding on to Kat! If it wasn't for the cracked nipple we'd be doing ok - latch is fixed, supply is good, E is gaining weight, etc. just need to clear this hurdle.

SinkyMalinks · 01/04/2014 16:28

Third one here with an incredibly painful latch. RL friends have said both that it gets better after a few weeks, and that for some it can last as long as breast feeding (one friend is weaning at 6 months at the moment and still struggles with the latch)
