Travis - I've just had the worst nights sleep because the kicks I "normally" get on an evening didn't happen yesterday. Woke up and my tummy is bouncing today. Why he couldn't have done that last night I don't know! But as everyone's said I guess it's all down to position. They don't know the worries they cause, these little things...

memedragon · 01/04/2014 07:09

Thanks for the tip about sour things bunny, will have to get a stash of grapefruit juice just in case!

DisneyDiva87 · 01/04/2014 08:45

You're right bunny I got confused by the way my work pays maternity leave. SMP is only for 39 weeks and then my last 3 months would be unpaid completely but my work stops paying me after about 4-6 months (depending on which option I choose). So I will have 12 or so weeks of just SMP but only up to 39 weeks.

All will be fine Travis I was reading that the baby is most active at night while we sleep because us moving about rocks them to sleep so it's possible it's just sleeping and/or has moved position.

isitme1 · 01/04/2014 09:01

Baby is most definitely more active at night as baby woke me up and after a while I could feel baby kick yay Grin

22honey · 01/04/2014 10:07

Hi everyone! Just a quick update, had 20 week scan this morning, all fine and it is a GIRL! Totally over the moon as this was exactly what I wanted, was terrified of bad news this morning :) Placenta is posterior but she said its normal and I have another scan at 36 weeks to see if it has moved.

Hope everyone else has great results also :) xxxx

Secretlypregnant · 01/04/2014 10:36

Huge congratulations, 22honey! Lovely news :-)

Quite a few other scans happening today also. Hope everyone has equally good news.

travispickles · 01/04/2014 10:51

Hello all- scan mark 2 has happened and she has signed off as all well. The picture isn't great but after my fears of no movement I am just pleased he is all ok. Good news in all scans so far- such a relief for everybody.

isitme1 · 01/04/2014 14:27

Aww bless congratulations 22!
Just spoke to an unhelpful mw at the hospital as I had to chase results up (im under renal hypertension anc) and she told another mw it says theres something therebut says may have been ccontaminated sample? Wtf? It was an mid stream urine sample I peed in a pot and sealed the bag. Ive beem giving samples every 2 weeks at least for years! And this has never happened. She sshould have said I will get dr to ring you back or ask them. She told me results were fine. When I asked about what sje said to other mw she said yes it says this. Last time results showed something like that mw gave no antibiotics but renal dr said I should have been given them as that is still am infection. Ive been in pain since feb! They gave me wrong antibiotics and now havr to wait until I see consultant again next Thursday. Not happy.

weeza13 · 01/04/2014 18:23

oh dear isitme, sounds like you are having a rough time, hope things smooth out a bit soon. Really great to hear that scans are coming fast and putting minds at rest with good results. I had never heard of anterior placenta until I was told I had it, there seem to be a lot of us with the same thing. mind you I knew very little about most things pregnancy related and still find it all a baffling but exciting process.

travispickles · 02/04/2014 13:37

Hi all - any scans today?

DisneyDiva87 · 02/04/2014 14:41

Hope things start to look up for you itisme

Is someone able to add me to the facebook page?

HungryHorace · 02/04/2014 18:34

PM me your real name and a description of your profile picture and I'll add you.

2beornot · 02/04/2014 22:14

Hi.

Think I've just about caught up!! Been away for a few days (very much needed!).

23 weeks today - baby moving lots now! Dd say hello through my belly button - it's so sweet! Water retention is def here now - ankles ache after a day on my feet.

I got offered a seat on the bus today - I could've kissed her!! Not because I needed the seat (I politely declined) but because it confirmed I actually look pregnant and not just fat!!

mssleepyhead · 03/04/2014 06:27

Ah, 19 weeks has brought a new symptom... Is anyone else suffering from palpitations? Lying in bed last night I had about 15 minutes where I felt like my whole body was shaking with every pulse. I could feel it everywhere: my hand, my chest, my tummy, my legs, and I could hear it pounding in my ears. It was so unsettling! Any tips on how to manage it if (when!) it happens again?

flymo79 · 03/04/2014 08:40

morning MsSleepy, I get palpitations most mornings, they started quite early on for me, around 14 weeks I think, and I was worried at first but now it is quite normal for me. I don't know if - for me at least - it is because first thing I'm a bit dehydrated...? normally they calm down by the time I've done my morning routine, got to work and sat down with a big bottle of water. A bit exhausting though!

isitme1 · 03/04/2014 08:40

Ms I would try and stay calm and occupy yourself so you try and forget about it. It happens to me but not for all that long. Its horrible and very unsettling but if I occupy myself doesnt seem as bad as im focused on something else well at least trying to focus on something else

DisneyDiva87 · 03/04/2014 08:58

MsSleepy me too!! I am 19 weeks today and I woke up during the night with a really strong pulse and feeling like I had just run several flights of stairs or was really nervous about something. It was really weird. I never thought it could have been linked to the pregnancy. It was the same sort of reaction I get if I have coffee or an energy drink.

Still not felt movement but last night I did feel a pulse down where I imagine I would feel movement for the first time.

flymo79 · 03/04/2014 11:14

can I ask those that already have LOs what they wish they had known with number 1? I am suddenly feeling quite overwhelmed at all the "new" stuff that will be coming my way, and wondering what I can do to prepare....

isitme1 · 03/04/2014 11:44

I wish I knew well had a proper braun thermometer like the ones in hospital from day1.
I wish I knew that the best thing to help routine is feed baby, wind baby and change baby then back down in bouncer, floor, crib etc changing position time to time.
White noise helped a lot here. I bought the slumber bear with the little noise box. When ds moved it would go off therefore settling him.we used it for 2years! Absolutely brill it was. You could record your own voice on it too and it had a lil blankie with it so you could keep it with you during day and close to baby at night so it smells like mama is near.
take time to relax. When baby is asleep you relax too. Sack the housework just make sure essential is done and if anyone offers to do anything dont refuse.

flymo79 · 03/04/2014 12:43

thanks isitme, this is all excellent (and totally new!) information!

keep it coming, second- and third-timers!!

HungryHorace · 03/04/2014 13:16

An alternative to the best is Ewan the Dream Sheep. My June antenatal group loved it. There must have been 20 or so bought. :-)

And don't buy too many clothes. So easy to go overboard and they're just not needed.

Trust your instinct. You'll be right, even if you doubt yourself.

We knew DD was intolerant to something and should've pushed the GP harder, but trusted his judgment. So it delayed diagnosis by a couple of months.

FriendofDorothy · 03/04/2014 13:22

I am having one of those days where I am worrying about everything. Today my current panic is that the baby has the cord wrapped around her neck which will cause it to do. I know it's unlikely but it's such a horrible thought process to get out of :(

isitme1 · 03/04/2014 14:26

Horace these things are good arent they!
While I was pg with ds1 mum would get me the pregnancy and baby magazine and it was recommended in there. The heading of the article was something like can this stop your child from getting colic. After seeing what 'colic' could do I got it asap!
Ps according to a few paediatricians there's no such thing as colic, it was used in old days when drs didn't know what was wrong! Most of the time now colic is actually reflux (both silent and active) or trapped wind/constipation.

DisneyDiva87 · 03/04/2014 14:47

Keep yourself busy Dor all this worrying isn't going to help you or the baby. Maybe you should look in to attending relaxation classes or something? Even if the cord is around the baby's neck (unlikely) chances are it'll be fine anyway as there is no reason for the cord to tighten so much that blood flow stops (remember the baby doesn't breathe!). There were a few people I knew at school who had the cord around their neck when they were born, with no problems and that was over 25 years ago. You need to keep yourself occupied and focus on the positive points that your baby will be healthy and happy.

mssleepyhead · 03/04/2014 18:43

Thank you for the tips on the palpitations. I think if it happens again I might need to get up because being busy sounds like good advice. The problem last night was that just lying in bed there was nothing else to concentrate on. So thanks for the tip!
And Friend of Dorothy - I'm the same... I go through good and bad patches, but the bad ones are terrible and I get the same kind of thoughts as you. No advice, just sympathy : )
