Old thread is getting full so here's a nice new one for all our moaning, paranoia and getting each other through it. Can someone do the honers and copy our edd list over? Maybe link the old thread too?

Ha.. he also said "rock and ROLL!" when I said I was going to bed at half 8. The f word was used in the not at all lip wobbly over emotional response as I left the room,

ohthegoats · 27/02/2014 22:41

Hmm, I need to work out how to post crossed out stuff.

BumpNGrind · 27/02/2014 22:44

Trouble, you are AMAZING! Thank you so much, I've saved all of your advice and am going to follow it line by line. I really appreciate you taking the time to do that, I've never felt pain like this and didn't know where to start. Also living in a townhouse I'm finding it hard to avoid stairs but I will absolutely be going down them on my bum now. I have been a very flexible person but I've had to be lifted up by DH twice after sitting on the floor with my legs crossed and then not being able to move.

Thanks
ohthegoats · 27/02/2014 22:47

Fatpony, I'm having a week 10 - 11 scan as part of harmony test, which is private. Due mostly to my great age, and aversion to needles and tests with high false positives for older women, so trying to avoid needing those. If I was younger and lower risk I wouldn't bother. It's only 10 days early anyway really.

CareBearWithFangs · 27/02/2014 23:23

Am I really naughty for still eating rare steaks then? Why are we supposed to avoid them?

And I really want a runny egg now. But I cannot cook them at all. Literally years of trying, always over cook them.

I'm liking everyone's tv addictions. Has anyone watched orange is the new black? I've just finished the first series and now need something to replace it with. It was brilliant.

Welcome newbies Smile

TroubleAndFyfe · 27/02/2014 23:23

Bumpngrind glad to help; it sounds likely that you have hypermobility too if you're generally very flexible. PGP is extremely common in people with hypermobility as our ligaments are already too stretchy then the pregnancy hormone relaxin kicks in making them even more stretchy! The physio will diagnose you with hypermobility if you have that too. Going downstairs on your bum isn't too bad (bar 2 year old saying 'stand up mummy' repeatedly) but going up like that is quite hard work. Worth it though!

porcito · 27/02/2014 23:43

I loved orange is the new black. And runny eggs :-( I'm scared to eat eggs at the best of the times in my town in Mexico, never mind when I'm pregnant. We've just finished The Killing and now onto The Following, both gruesome but amazing.

BlueberryPoppy123 · 28/02/2014 00:25

:( all this egg talk is making me gag! Wahhh and I used to have everyday for breakfast!!!!

officelady · 28/02/2014 07:01

Keeping up with this thread is a full-time job! Grin
All this food talk has got me craving rare steak and pate Sad You can keep the blue cheese though! I am still enjoying a runny-yolked egg every morning, it's the only thing that stops me wanting to throw up! I'm sure the lion-stamped eggs in the UK are fine, the risk comes from salmonella and the hens have been vaccinated so that's good enough for me. And I had no idea about the Mcflurrys and milkshakes! The things we pregnant women have to worry about!!
I have only got 3 sleeps until my first appointment with the midwife. Now I'm panicking that because I haven't seen anyone medical up until this point I've been doing it all wrong and I'll get told off (e.g. runny eggs!). Hope she's nice and not scary Wink
And finally can I just say hurrah for Friday - work has nearly finished me off this week - I am planning a Very Lazy Weekend.

MrsF2510 · 28/02/2014 07:33

Oh my gosh ladies - how many posts?! I'm in the nauseous camp though have not actually been sick - this has lasted just under 2 weeks now (I am 8 weeks plus 2) though it is worse when I haven't eaten in a few hours.

Other than being tired, I am generally okay (though still on crotch watch - not sure whether that will pass!) Smile

Wishing everybody a Happy Friday!

binkybunny · 28/02/2014 07:41

Yay Friday... Wishing I only worked 4 days a week now would love love love to stay in bed!!!

Why are mcd milkshakes a no no? Was planning on one this weekend when we go to Aberdeen. Gutted now as I cant stomach fizzy pop Sad

Morning everyone! So sorry to the people with nausea, honestly I'm finding that worse than the vomiting. Mine is literally all day whatever I eat. I have a consistent horrid taste in my mouth which nothing seems to shift! That one of the symptoms of HG thats really rattling my cage.
I'm on the fence with the runny eggs, I don't see why not as we have the lion stamp but something in the back of my mind is stopping me.
Aww no binks I've never heard of not eating mcd's mcflurrys or milkshakes. That's a new one on me!

TroubleAndFyfe · 28/02/2014 08:23

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/foods-to-avoid-pregnant.aspx#close

The NHS recommend cooking eggs until yolk and white are solid due to salmonella risk, however, they state that it is unlikely to harm your baby if you do get it- you'll get diarrhoea and/or vomiting. Personally I've never had salmonella poisoning before so would consider it a very small risk with very low risk (though unpleasant) side effects.

They say that soft ice cream (I don't go to mcdonalds but understand this includes their milkshakes and ice creams) is fine to eat as is pasteurised.

BlueberryPoppy123 · 28/02/2014 08:27

The reason behind not eating McDonald's ice cream products is because it's not fresh ice cream it is left in the machine all day and has a higher chance to grow bacteria... It is definitely still on the do not eat list... (Sister pregnant, craving mcflurries) sometimes the ice cream machine doesn't even get cleaned daily so that's when it's higher risk... However all that said and done when I was pregnant with DS I had one, or 20 during my pregnancy...

BlueberryPoppy123 · 28/02/2014 08:35

Also after staying awake until 5am tossing and turning and sweating like mad!!!! I still woke up at 8 with DS, not at all tired still red hot even though I'm in pants and a crop top with bedroom windows open!
Feeling good not at all nauseous, (except the egg comments, still making me gag) yuk!
Today I'm going to see my best friend to tell her I'm expecting, I'm excited! hopefully she is willing to talk baby with me as as yet no one will, except on here with you guys... Hence why my phone is rarely leaving my hands an I'm commenting every couple of hours...

Also the Friday thing... I'm not a big fan... Spot the weekend worker lol!!

pebble82 · 28/02/2014 09:10

Happy Friday all (sorry Blueberry).

Mine is even better as I booked the day off to sleep. Lovely lie in, I'm normally up at 6.30.

Annoying thing was though that when DP left for work he shouted "love you, see you later. By the way there's cat sick in the doorway. I don't have time to clean it up. Bye"

Just wonderful. why???? Ohthegoats was right, how I didn't punch him I don't know!

Right, now for some crappy daytime tv before I cave and waste the day watching box sets.

ohthegoats · 28/02/2014 09:37

I can't go near an egg, even thinking about eggs is bad.

Today already feels better than yesterday... by last night I was FOUL. The twangly cramps seem to have subsided a bit - google was not my friend on that one.

Boyfriend came to bed at 1.30am, smelled of booze, and even though I was fully asleep, wrapped himself around me (HOT HOT HOT HOT), then immediately sneezed twice, right in my ear.

He ran me a bath and made me breakfast this morning though, so he's a bit forgiven.

Cakebaker35 · 28/02/2014 09:55

Wow such a fast moving thread! Welcome all the newbies!

Just jumping in about what to eat/not to eat - basically guidelines differ rom year to year, country to country etc etc, try not to stress about it, just go with your instinct, if you want a runny egg have one (I am loving a fried egg sandwich!) and as for a steak, I couldn't eat a well done one so medium here all the way. All pasteurised stuff is fine, as for McDonald's milk shakes I wouldn't eat those even if not pregnant if they sit around all day, yuck! Eat fresh and all will be well Smile only thing I have cut out is alcohol, other that that I'm into everything as I just can't stop eating, was just the same with dd1.

BlueberryPoppy123 · 28/02/2014 09:56

My DP the same he come to bed stinking of well he just smelt of work ... Wrapped himself around me as I wriggled to get him off... He says "come on babe," as he tried putting his hand down my shorts... I slapped his hand away an told him of he wanted his tackle for later use he needed to back away! He's very disappointed my 1st pregnancy I turned into a sex addict... Defiantly not this time!

Real sense of achievement today... I've managed to mop my floors and Hoover the carpets!!!! First time in a week!!! what a class A skank

Loopylu84 · 28/02/2014 09:59

Just been reading back over the last 50 or so posts-the thread moves so fast!

Blueberry im 29, how about everyone else?
Carebear for a perfectly boiled egg you need a pan of properly boiling water-for a large egg boil it for 5mins 30 seconds, 20 seconds less for a medium egg, that is based on the eggs being straight from the fridge though!

Have to admit that I havent been overly cautious with food, when you look at how many people get listeria every year it's literally a handful the majority of whom are not pregnant, plus the french all eat this stuff and the japanese continue to eat sushi so I'm just carrying on as normal, enjoying a glass of red a couple of times a week too!
Feel very sorry for those of you who are suffering so much with the nauseaSad I feel occasionally quesy but nothing remarkable and other that feeling sleepy I actually don't feel too bad, certainly not gone off any food yet but am still only 7+1 so there is still time...!

Captainmcgraw · 28/02/2014 10:52

Hi, have been lurking right from day one but haven't joined.

This will be no.2 if all goes to plan. Due 3-4th October. Had been trying for 15 months (bit of a shock as happened first month with DD) so very tentatively happy. Nausea, sometimes sickness, tiredness, oh and the bowels, the terrible, evil bowels...

Seeing the midwife for booking in today although have a feeling it's going to be rescheduled as realised silly GP booked me in for 10min slot at clinic. Kind receptionist changed my appointment for the last one so that MW can run over if she wants but not sure she'll be that keen Hmm

binkybunny · 28/02/2014 11:01

Yay to the milkshakes. Havent had one for years but after all the cheeseburger talk and craving one for two weeks I'm giving in and going for one this weekend. Nom nom nom :-)

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 28/02/2014 11:09

I feel so ill today, hot and fluey, ive got a horrible cough.

Managed to get up for an hour but am now back in bed.

Binglesplodge · 28/02/2014 11:34

Wow, this thread is really going quickly! I'm glad to see there are others who aren't avoiding runny eggs:I haven't had one yet just because I don't have any in the house, but I think as long as they have the lion stamp I'll carry on enjoying my delicious yolk...

7+1 today and very little in the way of symptoms. Would I know by now if I was going to get sickness, or could it still appear and ruin my fun?! Even the sore boobs have eased slightly and I'm finding that I feel pretty good until 4 in the afternoon or so. After that I'm exhausted and have no appetite at all. So far I feel I've got off pretty lightly though I have 2 mouth ulcers, which I never get normally! Could it be linked to the pregnancy either by hormones or through the best stealing my nutrition?!

Hope you all have a lovely, restful weekend! It'll be Breaking Bad on the sofa for me...
