Hi Sarashy,

Is that a fertility specialist that you have been to see? How insensitive can people get! It makes me really mad Wonder if she has kids or any desire to start a family?

MWmum · 27/08/2008 22:03

Hi new peeps!

Sarashy don't give up my mum was told the same thing....clearly not accurate! My cousin fell pregnant whilst waiting for IVF twice over so you never know. I keep hearing acupuncture is great. I used reflexology when trying for DD and think it helped but it is very expensive if you use a professional. There are a lot of success stories out there but of course they're not normally the people scouring these sites to be able to share so thanks to Pinkali and Amanda!
I'm waiting for round 3 going up to 100mg so now all I need is start AF.

debz9384 · 27/08/2008 22:52

hi sarashy u could always buy clomid online n take it 4 few months??? i noticed on a site that they sell it
thats total sad that they wont give u it i hope u r ok?xxxxxxxx

wishinanhopin · 28/08/2008 01:41

Thanks for the tip jonahsgirl. I'm a bit confused and stressed, as I'm sure all the ladies on this site are LOL!! I haven't had a period since going off the BC pill, so all this talk about what day in the cycle to start taking it is lost on me. My Doctor was pretty vague about the whole thing, and had the attitude of "well everyone's different" just relax and make love and see what happens....HELLO, you can't say relax to someone who is trying so hard to conceive. But from what I'm reading it is anywhere from 4-9 days after the last pill, so I guss we'll give it the old college try after that. Also a question to throw out there which may sound totally stipid, but I've heard that the quality and quantity of a man's sperm count goes down with requar daily sex, and you should try to get your timing right.
Thanks Girls LOVE this site and the kind supportive posts

Wallacex · 28/08/2008 09:03

Hi girls,

Im just after some advice I am going to start acupunture to see if that helps, but when is the best time to do it?, do you have done around the time you ouvulate or before or after, may be a daft question but does anyone know?

Pinkali37 · 28/08/2008 09:54

sarashy That is terrible. I don't have PCOS either but I was put on it as if you have had proof (i.e. blood tests) that you do not ovulate properly this is what Clomid is for! It is more dangerous for PCOS sufferers to be on it so you should be allowed. I would fight for it, it is your right!!! Was that a specialist you saw or your gp?

skates77 · 28/08/2008 09:54

Morning Ladies,

I am also thinking about starting accupunture but not sure if it is expensive and also wouldnt know the best time to have it done?! anyone got any ideas?

Sarashy I recommend getting some Clomid online too, doctors can be irritating sometimes and no amount of relaxing is going to make you pregnant if there is something that isnt right in there, only a woman can truly feel is something is going on inside.

Today i am having flutters in my bladder/womb, feels strange, also when i cough i feel different in there, anyone else? think it might just be another glorious side effect!!

Love to all xxxxxxxxx

skates77 · 28/08/2008 09:56

Oh Sarashy just had a thiught, my first gp wouldnt give me Clomid because he himself does not prescribe it so i had to see another gp at the same surgery, maybe try seeing a different gp??

xx

Pinkali37 · 28/08/2008 10:10

skates i started acupuncture a few days before I started the tablets. IT wasn't particularly planned like that however it certainly worked! I went every week for the first 7 weeks. I think my sessions cost £30. Which does get expensive BUT i was at teh stage of doing anything...

littlestar08 · 28/08/2008 10:16

Hi Girls,

I haven't been able to come on computer for few days...firstly just wanted to say stay positive and hopefully it will happen soon...

I had my appointment on Tuesday and because in my first clomid cycle on the 50mg my 21 day progesterone was 1.2 the gyno has decided to put the dose up to 100g...i had another blood test and will start the 100g once i have recieved the result from Tuesdays blood test.

A question I had is that I havent had my AF this month and rarely do, the gyno advised to take the clomid whenever i want without AF...does this seem ok? last time i was given progesterone tablets to induce the bleed...

You know the amount I have read upon clomid am sure I could prob giv my gyno a run 4 her money...I feel fresh again and put the last cycle behind me...

Sackfulls of babydust to all XxX

kjbrookie · 28/08/2008 14:42

Hi girls
Well i really want to join in because i am feeling really negative at the mo!
Let me tell you abit about me.....I am 37 and been married for 15yrs. We lived in Germany as DH was in the army and we started ttc not long after being married. I was put on clomid (10yrs ago) due to PCOS and ovulating i also had on blocked tube! I did however fall pg. When I went for my 12wk scan, the baby had died at 9wks so I had a D&C. Since then to this date, i blocked it all out and we got on with our lives! Just over 3 months ago, I took a look at our lives realised we were getting on in life and thought SHIT best think about a baby again! Easier said than done! Well I am now back on the old faithful clomid after my first cycle of 50mg, i had one lovely folly ready to pop, good blood and had ovulated. No pg though! 2nd month is my month i promised - period was late, got all my hopes raised, sympton spotting (as you do) but hey the bitch arrived last Sun! I am now on CD5 and day 4 of clomid. I start acupunture on Sat, i just wish i could feel positive but you know when you have that feeling deep down when you want something that it just wont happen - I just cant shift it! I am emotional, addicted to these websites/forums and they always make me feel abit hopeful, especially when you read a thread with an identical story and a positive outcome! Sorry for going on, but it makes things easier telling your story when you want to join in! I need some positive digs and my hopes back raised! thanks girls love to all kjbrookie xx

sarashy · 28/08/2008 16:39

Thanks girls.
feeling a little better today although still quite down about it all.
Dont think i could go for the acupuncture thing as im scared to death of needles. Dont know about buying clomid online as i wouldnt be monitored properly and i dont think my gynea consultant would be to happy about it. if i did succeed that way id be scared she'd know.
DH after long talks last night has finally come round to the idea of being on the ivf waiting list. (which cheered me up slightly as it gives me a little hope that one day it might happen.
MWMUM - what happened to your cousin is what im hoping for to, that it wont go as far as ivf and being on it will help me relax.

Ill think about the clomid thing, but i think ill give it up as a lost cause.

If nobody minds i would still like to be part of this thread and hopefully support some of you through your clomid trails.

big big big bags full of baby dust to everyone. itll hopefully happen for uss all one day

xxx

jonahsgirl · 28/08/2008 18:35

Hello everyone.
Hope your all well. Was so sorry to hear your news sarashy, but if I were you I'd ask for a second opinion. Judging by everyones stories it seems that all doctors are different in what they believe in and what guidelines to follow so it might be worth a try. You said that you were worried about taking clomid without being monitored but I was given 3 cycles worth from a fertility clinic then they discharged us from their department and referred us to the IVF clinic, so I haven't been monitored at all by anyone so it must be ok too. Glad your DH has come round to the idea of IVF so you've always got that to look forward to despite the waiting list. However, waiting list times are just an estimate and it could be much sooner than 3 years. We were told our waitng list time was 6 months but we recieved an appt 1 month later so you never know.
I've been thinking about acupuncture as well but I don't know anything about it, so I'll do some research and get back to you all.

jonahsgirl · 28/08/2008 19:08

Hi again.
Forgot to say a few things.
wishinanhopin We were told definately not to have sex every day because it reduces the quality of the sperm. However, we went on holiday for a week and forgot about the every other day rule (too much sun and sangria!!), so when we got home we did it every other day for the rest of my cycle and it still didn't work. Because I haven't got a clue when I'm gonna ovulate it's really hard to get the timing right. I was thinkin maybe I ovulated on holiday but because of the daily sex the quality of the sperm wasn't great as the reason it never worked. So this time we're stickin to the rule! We're not drinking as well to see if that helps! Also I've read that it's probably a good idea to give up caffeine too, has anyone else heard this too?
littlestar08 I'm not sure about your question I always thought that you needed to be on AF before you could start taking the tablets but I really don't know.
Welcome kjbrookie I'm new to this thread too.
Keep in touch sarashy
Speak soon and take care everyone xx

GemmaLuisa · 28/08/2008 20:06

hi everyone, new to this thread, it's so good to speak to others in the same boat as it's so frustrating all my friends keep popping out babies!! been on the POP for 10 years and stopped it over 2.5 years ago to TTC and have not had a period or ovulated since so finally doc has put me on clomid days 2-6 but as I don't have periods I took it straight away, no monitoring by gynae for me!!? finished 1st course 5 days ago, keep having really bad hallucinations and double vision and I've heard this means i'm allergic to clomid? Does anyone else have the same side effects? Have had insomnia and cramps too which is fine but the vision thing is scary. All the success stories are great to hear, but clearly it's not a wonder drug for all though so won't hold my breath. I've tried acupuncture, it didn't work for me with ovulation but my friend did it with IVF and it worked 1st time, well worth a go!

jonahsgirl · 28/08/2008 21:12

Hi GemmaLuisa I know what you mean when everyone around you is having babies left right and centre!! There are 3 girls at work all pregnant at the moment and it makes me feel really frustated watching their bumps growing every day!
Your side effects seem a bit worrying though, especially the hallucinations. I'd check with your doctor just to make sure everythings ok. During my first cycle on clomid I noticed slightly blurry vision but it didn't last very long and some insomnia too. I also had cramps and all sorts of aches and pains in my lower tummy but the worse was the haedaches. I'm on day 10 of my 2nd cycle and up to now I don't seem to being getting any side effects at all yet.

Vikks · 28/08/2008 22:11

Hi Everyone, I'm back. Welcome Newbies.

Still waiting to start my 100mg and definatly not pregnant!
GemmaLuisa, I'm with you! Everyone seems to be popping out babies. One of my very good friends has just told me today she expecting, I'm very happy for her but she said she was apprehensive about telling me. My friend must think I'm gonna turn into a crazy woman if I hear the word 'baby'! I might if they don't stop tip-toeing around me.

Baby dust sprinklings to all!

skates77 · 29/08/2008 09:38

Morning Ladies,

Yes babies are everywhere, I am going to be an auntie in the next couple of days and currently there are 6 pregnant ladies that i work with and your right they do all tip toe aroudn you. I am not some mad woman that will steal your baby or cry at the thought of you having a baby and not me (not in front of any of them at least!)

I ahve decided I am going to ahve accupuncture but not sure if i should ahve it around when i ovulate? anyone?

I feel as if the world has just been dropped onto my shoulders, my partners mum recently dianosed with liver cancer has been told that chemo would be too dangerous for her as she already has MS so they are sending her home to be more comfortable and we have all been warned that she wont make it til christmas this is upsetting enough but now DP has said he would really like us to get pregnant before the inevitable happens so that his mum can see that we are making the most of life. No pressure though!!

Baby dust to all

xxxxx

kjbrookie · 29/08/2008 10:38

Morning all!
skates77 - I start acupuncture tomorrow, i have had a 20min consultation already and tomorrow it starts! Its for 2hrs my first visit, the 1st hr spent talking about yourself and your history (incl everything, even the colour of your pooh and period blood! sorry for graphicness!) the therapist then arranges your programme to suit all of this. My second hour is the actual needle session which she showed me on my first consultation - they are SO tiny and to be honest that thin they surely cant hurt! I am really lookin to starting it as I have read alot of postive things about it also, I have the Zita West guide to getting pg and she totally recommends it! That'll do for me - The session cost £35 and I start weekly to begin with so Sat, then on and around ovulation etc, etc then goes down to twice weekly then monthly until no longer required. Although its good to do whilst pg too apparently! So thats what i can tell you. I will log on tomorrow if you like and tell you how it went and how i am feelin. I am on day 5 of clomid at the mo, having hot flushes, not sleeping, headaches and generally hormonal - the therapist thinks she can deal with all of these symptons! To be totally honest I hope so as I feel so pants about it all at the moment. My office is like a rabbit warren! one lot go off to have babies and the next lot start.........GRRRREAT! XX

skates77 · 29/08/2008 11:19

kjbrookie,

oh thats great thank you, I've been reading up about it this morning and I am determined to start but i cant seem to find any good ones near me, I will look a little further a field and see what there is out there. sounds very graphic to be honest but if it helps get us pregnant I will tell them anything they ask!

I am on day 21 of my cycle tomorrow but as I normally have longer cycles my bloods are being done monday morning, I feel funny today, kind of periody but not if you know what I mean, funny goings on in my abdomen which I guess is from the Clomid!

The sleeping does get a little better although you will find it much harder to wake up in the mornings, I could have an aeroplane go past my face without even a stir from me!!

pixistar · 29/08/2008 12:50

Hi Everyone,

Hope your all doing ok.

I just wanted to comment on GemmaLuisa's post. On my first round of clomid I had quite bad blurry vision. Spoke to my clinic yesterday & have told them about this. On the instruction leaflet it does give you a list of side effects that should be reported to your care provider. Blurry vision being one of them. I would recommend that you do tell them as they need to be aware. I told mine about it. It was quite bad towards the end of taking the meds but got better after I stopped & is back to normal now . They have agreed to increase my dosage to 100mg from 50mg, but have said if the vision gets any worse whilst taking that amount then I need to call them for further advise.

Sarashy - I'm really sorry to hear about your news. It would be great if you stay in touch. After all were all in the same boat on clomid or not.

In response to your posts about acupuncture. I must admit that I have not had acupuncture for fertility reasons. However when I was 18 I was pulled in to this chinese herbalist place by a chinese thereapist. He offered to five me a free acupressure session. Whilst giving me this treatment he did tell me that I had a hormone imbalance. That was before I ever had even thought of having kids. Didn't think any thing of it at the time..... until now .
By the way acupuncture does not hurt at all

I'm hoping AF will come soon. can feel the signs of the curse. I'm kind of dissapointed, then again I'm quite pleased because that means I can get on with round 2. So many mixed emotions at the moment. One second I'm all happy happy happy, the next second I'm absolutltly horrible. Don't know where I'm at. Feel one of the seven dwafs but can't decide what name I am?? My DH keeps calling me his little nest of vipers Actually I'm not sure if that winds me up even more??? MEN!

jonahsgirl · 29/08/2008 14:28

Hello everyone

Whilst we're all talkin about acupuncture I just thought I'd mention another alternative for those who have a needle phobia like sarashy. It's called Bowen Therapy and apparently it's got quite a good success rate for infertility problems. It's a hands on massage technique, that doesn't involve needles, which helps to trigger the bodies own healing mechanism. I had heard of it before when a friend had it for a back injury, she had been to various different physios and chiropractors with no joy, but had one session with a Bowen Therapist and was cured. However I didn't know it could be used for fertility problems til now as a result of doing a bit a research. It might be worth looking into that as well for all of us as it may be a cheaper alternative as well.

marcy08 · 29/08/2008 19:55

Hi girls, due my period today , not happened so did a pregnancy test, unfortunatley negative, still not started a period and been suffering with backache , heartburn and very moody, not me at all, do you think i may have tested too early, still living in hope, love to all Marcy xxx

GemmaLuisa · 29/08/2008 21:06

hi again everyone and thanks for your advice so far jonahsgirl, pixistar and Vikks.
I ended up at A&E last night having a check up of my eyes on doctors orders due to my vision problems and now painful left eye, and I was told to stop clomid straight away but seeing as I've finished it they arranged for me to see the gynae again next week. I'm gutted as if I stop taking clomid I don't know any other way of strating ovulation without hormones? I'll try anything!
marcy08 fingers crossed for you
pixistar that sounds promising that they'll increase your dose to 100mg, and jonahsgirl that's great you're not having the side effects this time. Did the doc check either of your eyes? It seems a weird side effect to be related to an ovulation drug? xx

Angel008 · 30/08/2008 00:05
