Hi

Im new to this site but having read the messages Im given some hope. My story is that i have always had irregular periods, i went through tests when i was 17 and again at 23 (now 27) and everything came back fine. Ive been with my husband now for nearly four years and we have been trying to conceive for three years. We started having tests last July, my husband came back fine, my scans and dye test was fine, but my blood test wasn't. In April of this year they finally diagnosed me with PCOS. I have been given provera, metformin and clomid to help with the process.

Due to commimentments and a recent holiday i have only just started taking them. I am due to start my first round of clomid tommorrow, and was wondering if anyone had a really bad time with it.

I like the support this site gives and although my husband has been great, i don't think he fully appreciate how hard taking all the tablets is and the emotional stress of it all.

I would love to hear from anyone in who is going through of all this, because at my work place everyone seems to be on thier second child without the stress that i seem to be going through.

pixistar · 26/06/2008 13:48

Hi Walla,

I really appreceiate how you feel. It's pretty much the same for you as it is for me. Everyone at my work either already has kids (without fertility treatment) or is on their second. So this website to me is a great chance to chat with people that understand what it is like to go through test after test and the harsh fact that we may not be able to have kids,I really hope we can - but you just don't know & it is all a waiting game. My hubby is great, though I think he does not understand how I feel. I'm due to start Clomid in July (it can't come quick enough). I'm really hoping that clomid will work (I have a 3 month supply) If that does not work then I'm in for more invasive tests . I feel so frustrated and really feel that I have let my husband down. You see these Mums on the street shouting & swearing at their kids & think why do they have them, if they are going to talk to them like that. I've seem a prime example of that today. It really upset me.

Sarah1109 · 26/06/2008 16:38

Hi Angel,

I'm good thanks. My body's doing weird things, like it can't make it's mind up how to feel, but other than that I'm pretty good.

Lets hope you just tested too early, and you'll get a positive result next week!!

Fingers crossed hun.

Take care.

xx

Wallacex · 27/06/2008 09:06

Hi Pixistar,

Thanks for the message! No how you feel - my husband has two kids from other relationships and they are great lads, but i do feel like ive let him down, he says it
doesn't matter but it does - it feels like ive failed which is something i never thought i could do.

I took my first clomid today, but with all the pills im taking i feel like im rattling - hehe, no side effects so far but don't know how it takes for them to enter the system and take effect.

Fingers crossed that they work as i really don't fancy taking the metformin anymore. What other test do you have to go through if the clomid doesn't work?

pixistar · 27/06/2008 12:46

Hi Walla,

Thanks for the message. My hubby also has a kid from a previous relatioship. My consultant has advised that they need to try clomid first to see if it will work. If it dosen't then they need to check that my tubes are not blocked (I can't remember the name of the proceedure). I know someone else that is on metformin for pcos. She's only 19. It sounds as if her gyne just wants to get rid of her (she's been to see him about 17 times in the last year, so I imagine that is why!). She has had some bad side effects from it. I hope that you don't get any from the clomid. Mind you if you do end up preggy then it's probably going to be very worth bad side effects! I've recently found out that twins run in my family on my Dads side. It jumps generations. Wonder if I will have twins. Wouldn't mind that (don't think I will have anymore 2 will enough). I'm not due to start clomid until mid July. I feel like I'm wishing my life away. I come on just before I was prescribed Clomid - typical!

Well best of luck with the clomid. Let me know how you get on?

Angel008 · 27/06/2008 13:28

Hiya sarah 1109, how are you hope your well??? Guess what....i came on today lol so im starting 2nd roud of clomid tomorrow morning. Lets wait and see what hapens next month. I think sometims with clomid it takes the mind and body time to adjust to it. My blood test results are back on Monday too. Having really weird p pains today but not as bad as normal maybe soething to do with the clomid.

Oh well.....im dissapointed but not as muh as i thouht as i would be because i prepared myself for it not to work this month and knew it wouldnt as its something different and new and although i read all the positive review i also took note how many people fell pregnant after they had to switch to 100mg 3 months later so im not stressing. Yes i would over the moon if i did fall pregnant but im just taking each day as it comes now......... :-)....

So tommorrow is round 2 !

Wallacex · 27/06/2008 15:43

Hi Pixistar,

How weird that i find all consultants seem to be different. I wasn't allowed to consider any type of fertility treatment until I had than scan, not sure if im spelling it right but its called a hystrosalpinogram - its not bad at all - afterward it just feels like slight cramping pain which if you suffer from period pain, its a doddle.

Oh twins in the family - now thats a handful, i used to say i never would have liked twins, but now i don't care, twins, triplets - i just really want one.

I can understand the bit about you wishing your life away, i was given all my medication in May, but as i wasn't sure of what side effects i might get, i decided to wait til after we had been on holiday before i took them - i glad i did, but i just kept counting down the days until i could start.

How much clomid do you have take? Im taking 100mg and have six months worth of it.

I seem to be gettingn a stomach upset from the metformin, but so far nothing from the clomid, but will keep you posted on that one, your are right though it must be worth going through all of this to get a baby at the end - i hope.

Sarah1109 · 27/06/2008 18:33

HI Angel,

I'm really sorry it hasn't worked for you this time, but it's so good that you're staying positive.

I'm a firm believer in not dwelling on things that you can't control. I hope I can follow my own advice when it's my turn next week!!

Lets hope that this month is more successful for you.

Take care hun, and keep your chin up!!

xxx

pixistar · 27/06/2008 20:17

Hi Walla,

He started me on 50 mg then said if that does not make me ovulate then it's up to 100mg. What day's do you have to take clomid on? I have to take mine on day's 2 - 6.

Angel008 · 27/06/2008 22:17

hi sarah1109,

thnx 4 that message, i hope your round of clomid works for you. Lets wait and see maybe we might fall pregnant together! lol

by the way did u get pregnacare ....that reminds me i gota stock up tomora!

take care

Sarah1109 · 28/06/2008 08:06

Hi Angel,

Yes I got some pregnacare, so I'm now fully loaded!!

I have so many signs that I might be pregnant, it's getting ridiculous! I feel sick in the morning and evening. My boobs have grown loads and they're really tender. Things are different "down below". I'm really tired that I'm usually in bed by 10! I can't stop eating during the day! I have to get up in the night to pee!

I keep telling myself it's the tablets that have made my hormones go crazy, but it's getting increasingly difficult to not get excited that I might be!!

Sorry, it's probably not what you want to hear right now, but I really needed to "let it out"!!!

I hope things work for you this month! I really do.

Have a good weekend hun! xxx

Wallacex · 28/06/2008 08:32

Hi Pixistar,

Well thats something, i bet you counting the days till you can take them. I also have to take mine on days 2-6, but the problem I have just found is that Ive only had a three day period so now im not sure what to do, do you think I should carry taking them even though my period has stopped - why can't things be simple?

Sarah1109 · 28/06/2008 09:48

Hi Wallacex,

You do need to carry on taking the pills on days 2 to 6. These are the days in your cycle, and it doesn't matter if your period has finished quickly or not. (Lucky thing, wish mine was 3 days!!!

Hope this helps.

Best of luck to you, hope it works.

xx

pixistar · 28/06/2008 14:01

Hi Walla,
I agree with Sarah. I think you should carry on taking them on the days advised ever if your period was only 3 days long. If your still not sure is there no one under your consultant you can ring & ask?

Wallacex · 29/06/2008 09:33

Thanks for the messages Sarah and Pixistar,i have done as you suggest and carried on taking them, it makes sense to.

Think i must be quite lucky as im having no side effects from the clomid, but that metformin is playing having with my stomach.

Does anybody know anyone who took Clomid and it worked on the first cycle, what are the chances?

cheekymonkeywanted · 29/06/2008 19:40

just finished my first round of clomid last week and had my 10 day scan on friday and good news i have one good flcle waiting to be released over the next week...so no leaving the bedroom for me or my husband. Cant believe it worked really as i have PCOS so wasnt expecting any good news....although early days yet...just good to know that the tablets have done there job.

hopeful1 · 01/07/2008 16:09

Hi,

This is my first time to this site. I begin taking clomid at the end of this week. Just to give you all hope, I am a clomid baby and now 31 My husband is infertile due to a condition he has and we are having IUI with sperm donation this month for the first time. I am trying not to get too excited though. My sister had 2xIUI with clomid but it didnt work for her but she got pregnant first time with IVF and now has a set of perfect twins who are 1 year old in two weeks.

Your stories have kept me reading for over an hour and I should be working.

I just cant concentrate. I have also been wishing my life away....its all I can think about!!

Thanks

Sarah1109 · 01/07/2008 19:03
