I know what you mean topbanana Im getting at least 3 phone calls every day asking if im still here

1Baby1Bump · 04/09/2006 12:41

sounds lovely topbanana. just have a kip then the baby is there!!

homemama · 04/09/2006 14:14

Can you all tell what my scan showed??????????

Not only has baby turned but he is fully engaged. Yippeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!
The consultant said he was positive baby was head down as soon as he touched me but sent me in for scan just to put my mind at rest.
Apparently, being engaged at 37+wks is a sign that maybe its on its way as often subsequent babies don't engage until labour or just before.

mabel1973 · 04/09/2006 14:22

YIPPEEEEEEEE!

Gizmo · 04/09/2006 14:52

Oh that's great news homemama. No wonder you felt sick!

So I guess that means no ceasarian for you then? How do you feel about that?

homemama · 04/09/2006 14:53

Thanks Mabel. Sorry, I'm a bit giddy!

I can start willing him or her on now. Thanks for all the positive vibes!

liquidclocks · 04/09/2006 14:56

That's absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!

(and so pleased I hadn't got your hopes up for nothing!)

TopBanana · 04/09/2006 14:56

Great news homemama
She/he will be here in no time!

puppy · 04/09/2006 14:57

oh Homemama that is absolutley brilliant news

Was thinking of you earlier, Congrats

homemama · 04/09/2006 15:00

Gizmo, I'm soooooooo relieved. I was absolutely terrified at the thought. Both of the operation and the recovery with a toddler to look after.

I know a natural birth isn't for everyone and that a CS is the best option for many woman whether that be for physical or emotional reasons but it just wasn't for me. Of course, I may have had no choice like many women but thankfully it now looks as though I have.

I think it's because I'm a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to pain.

homemama · 04/09/2006 15:02

Thanks everyone!

I wonder how Tassis is this morning?

Myrtle1 · 04/09/2006 15:13

Clairemow - congratulations! I hope you are all doing well.

Homemama - its great the baby has turned and is engaged - you're all set to go.

I had m/w appointment this morning and she said the baby was heading downwards but wasn't engaged yet. Its lying on the lefthand side which is why I keep getting shooting nerve pains in left hip.
DH and I have thought of another name for a girl but I'm not sure if it would get teased or not but what do you all think of Matilda?

liquidclocks · 04/09/2006 15:39

Homemama - 'scared of pain' - but you prefer to face labour - hmmmm....? But still, I'm very pleased for you as I knowit's what you wanted!

Myrtle - can't think why she's be teased personally - would you mind people calling her Tilly?

mabel1973 · 04/09/2006 15:46

Myrtle - Matilda was one of my choices if this one had been a girl - I love it and think Tilly for short is really cute!

homemama · 04/09/2006 16:06

Liquidclocks, I know that sounds strange. But my last labour was quick and not too bad compared to the experience of others. I coped with G&A and I didn't tear so had no stitches and was up, dressed and wandering around feeling fab an hour later. (was bloody exhausted later that day though )

It just seemed that with a CS, I'd be lying on my back in discomfort if not pain for at least a day or two followed by a few weeks of discomfort/pain at home.

Of course, sod's law now dictates that this one will be a horrific 36hour labour with every intervention possible and 3million stitches!

homemama · 04/09/2006 16:08

Oh and I like Matilda too!

clairemow · 04/09/2006 16:16

Homemama, that is brilliant news!! . I'm so pleased for you.

I love Matilda, think it's really cute. And Mattie is nice for shorter too as well as Tilly.

Homemama, to answer your question (I think, still a bit knackered...) - I have about a million stitches, as Fraser had a hand round his head and I got third degree tearing. Although v.v. painful at the time (as no time for epidural etc.), it doesn't hurt anywhere near as much as my scar from section last time.

Fraser crying now, so going to feed him. Good luck vibes to everyone. XX

clairemow · 04/09/2006 16:16

oh and Liquid - congrats on passing your year - it sounds as though you've been working really hard and with the pregnancy and migraines and all, you're amazing!

Myrtle1 · 04/09/2006 16:16

Liquid - I'd be happy for people to call her Tilly or Matilda, was just unsure about whether it sounded too different or old-fashioned maybe. Mine and DH's family are both quite traditional in their name choosing and we've already had a lot of "oh no you can't call it that" type of comments from them. We'd picked out things like Xanthe and Wren. I still really love these names and might call it Matilda Wren for girl or maybe Ronnie for a boy.

compo · 04/09/2006 16:34

great news Homemama
I like Tilly too Myrtle
LC - well done for passing your year
Clairemow - hope the stitches aren't giving you any problems and Fraser is letting you get some sleep

muminaquandary · 04/09/2006 16:56

Hurrah I have my beautiful girl, she arrived on Fri 1 Sept, quickly and without the c-section - really really happy. Have posted on birth announcements. Good luck everyone MIAQ xxx

Gizmo · 04/09/2006 17:10

Congratulations MIAQ - do you have a name yet? I must say September really is off to a flying start.

I forgot to say Liquid, well done on getting through your first year: I have 50% of my next professional qualification 'on hold' for six months, so I'm well impressed with anyone who can keep their eyes open long enough during pregnancy to deliver essays .

Just add my vote for Tilly - very pretty. I know it's been said before but why, when there is so much choice of pretty girls names, is finding something nice for a boy so tough? I have about 3 weeks to go before DS2 arrives and haven't had a single conversation with DH yet about names, mostly because I can't think of a shortlist longer than one, and I need to give him some options.

tassis · 04/09/2006 17:12

Can't stop so will read all later

But CONGRATULATIONS MIAQ - lovely news!!

Will look for birth announcement later.

(nothing happening here...)

nickiey · 04/09/2006 17:16

Hiya ladies, Im cureently 33 wks preggers with my third, he isnt due until the end of october but im going in to be induced on Sept 28th because of my firstborn was stillborn at 37wks. my ds was also induced 4 weeks early. Im begining to get really nervous now, lots of issues surrounding the inducement and birth are coming to a head.
I guess tho that knowing what day my baby will be born is a good thing, but I am starting to worry about the birth-even ho ive done it twice before!

liquidclocks · 04/09/2006 17:43

Was going to come over here and tell everyone about MIAQ but she'd already thought of us - thanks MIAQ and congratulations!!!

Welcome nickiey! That's my EDD - nice for you to know you have a definite date though very sad about the circumstances. Do you know if you're having a DD or DS or are you waiting?
