Just got 2 very very (very very very) faint lines. The magical due date doo-dah says 3rd Oct is the magic number. Who knows? It could all go tits up still, but if you, like me, suspect you might be in the early stages it would be nice to chat.

I'll start the list shall I?

Just to b awkward I'm not on your list. Baby #1 edd 26th oct x

Loopylu84 · 17/02/2014 17:54

Pebble we're going for an early scan a week on sat by which time I'll be 7+2, just something we wanted to do and given that we'll probably get lots of our baby stuff second hand it felt like the scan would be our little luxury! There are a number of private places that do them-seem to range from about £80-150
We booked ours with The Fetal Medicine Centre in London, it's very near to us but also the profits from the centre go back in to the Fetal Medicine Foundation which is a research charity so seemed like a good way of going about it

Incidentally, for those interested in the Harmony test it may be worth contacting the hospital you've booked with to see if they're offering it to high risk candidates for free. When I got my booking and scan appts through last week from UCLH there was some info included stating that if you're found to be 'high risk' after the 12 week scan you'll have the option to enroll in a study which includes the Harmony test (although they're calling it something different). I know Kings were previously doing something similar too but not sure if it's still ongoing

PrincessWellington · 17/02/2014 17:55

I'm not on the list :-(

pebble82 · 17/02/2014 18:07

Can someone explain a Harmony test?

I think although I know I can't see much at 6-7 weeks it might be nice to see a heartbeat. But DP not so keen on spending 100. He just says what will be will be and he's sure everything is fine (he's a statistics man!)

I'm just a worrier. But suppose a loss at any stage will hurt just the same. Probably will just wait and be patient.

Emmylu · 17/02/2014 18:45

Please could you add me? Emmylu DC1 EDD 25th Oct. Thank you!

mum2kiss · 17/02/2014 18:59

Im a worrier like you pebble. My dp is of the mindset that everything is fine, there is absolutely nothing to worry about, and stop wasting time scaring yourself on mumsnet! He just doesnt get it! Lol!

CareBearWithFangs · 17/02/2014 19:02

Binky do those bands really work? I might get some in case morning sickness starts to get worse.

What's a harmony test?

I am also tempted to get a private scan but I know it'll only ease my mind for a day or so and I can't keep paying for private scans so I think I'll leave it.

Loopylu84 · 17/02/2014 19:10

Harmony test-link here www.nhs.uk/news/2013/06June/Pages/New-Downs-syndrome-blood-test-more-reliable.aspx

thegirlwhouk · 17/02/2014 19:20

We're paying for a private scan (Sat 9th) for a bit of peace of mind really. I want to tell work and close family after that, but we wanted a bit of reassurance before getting other people's hopes up.

We might get the harmony test too, but we'll see about that further down the line.

We have plenty of places nearby that offer the tests and we can afford the £80. It's a personal choice I guess, some people aren't bothered about seeing the little bean at 6 weeks (which I get as I know there won't be much to see!) but for us it's a special little luxury and we're both so excited!!

upnorth11 · 17/02/2014 19:36

Can't believe it, but just came home from a weekend away indulging in all sorts of nice but naughty things... Did an ic test at 6 tonight, an almost immediate faint line, and a digital one afterwards confirming it. "Pregnant". So happy. Dh still flabbergasted... According to the nhs calculator, I will be just in this club with a dd on Oct 30. Will try to catch up on everyone's stories... X

CareBearWithFangs · 17/02/2014 19:39

Congratulations up north!

officelady · 17/02/2014 19:42

Evening everyone, nice to see the list getting longer and longer!
I have been very well behaved this week and only done one POAS test Wink
Slightly disappointed that I still haven't heard from the midwife re: initial appointment or booking in, I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow. It would be nice to be "officially" pregnant Grin
We have already decided to have the Harmony test, it's £550 at a private clinic close to where I live and they can do it at 10 weeks. I know it is £££ but the way I look at it, I'll save that amount of money by giving up wine for the next 9+ months and I'm high risk due to being as old as the hills, so hopefully it will give us peace of mind, or at least let us know what we are dealing with. If I was a lot younger I wouldn't bother though, when I had my kids they didn't even do the nuchal screening. Its amazing how things have progressed in that time!
Is anyone else constantly starving? I literally cannot stop eating. I will be the size of a house at this rate!

MrsDeltaB · 17/02/2014 19:44

Nervous wave hello here. EDD DC 3 (holy poo!) 04 Oct. Had two losses last year hence being tentative but so far 7+2 and all is well. Look forward to chatting more!

bumpbangbump · 17/02/2014 19:48

Welcome to all the new faces. Upnorth, you could be one of the last to join if we're already getting due dates of 30th!

I would love an early scan but we can't really justify the expense. I think extra scans are pretty awesome. We had 2 extra scans with our first as my bmi was too high and I might just sneak that again this time as although I've lost a lot of weight, my bmi is still over the recommended limits. Low risk but maybe...

We'll be having the combined nucal screening but won't be seeking out anything else unless that comes out with worrying results. We were lucky to be very low risk last time.

How's the sickness mrs

bumpbangbump · 17/02/2014 19:49

And yes office, I am eating for 2... 2 small countries!!!

upnorth11 · 17/02/2014 20:01

Thank you, this will be #1. Don't know when I ovulated at all this month as I didn't use opk and the cbfm never showed a peak so I am ready to sell that on eBay. My regular cycle length is 35 days so put that in the calculator, however, something is telling me that I OVed much earlier than day 23 , so my dd might be earlier... Maybe the midwife will be able to enlighten me at some point. It's still early days I guess.

mrsb87 · 17/02/2014 20:02

I can understand having extra tests and scans of you're high risk for any reason. You would definitely require that for any sort of piece of mind.
Bumpbang the sickness seems to let up in the evening's so I can at least enjoy a bit of time with dh before dreading waking up in the morning. I'm off back to the doctor tomorrow as the metroclopramide only works from about lunch time onwards. Until then I'm still spewing empty stomach type stuff (sorry if tmi). I think I'm starting to go stir crazy on my own all this time in the day!

ohthegoats · 17/02/2014 20:05

We have already decided to have the Harmony test, it's £550 at a private clinic close to where I live and they can do it at 10 weeks.

Yep, exactly the same here. I want to be able to make any necessary decisions at 13 weeks or less.

ExcitedCJ · 17/02/2014 20:11

I'm freaking out about drinking wine before I knew I was preggers.
I had a couple of glasses of wine on a couple of occasions the week after conception.
Any words of wisdom to calm me down?
May have to fork out for a Harmony test to help me relax a little.

Symptoms at 5 weeks :- Achy boobs, spotting for 2 weeks, nausea when I eat chocolate, mushroom aversion, spots, no patience, hormonal rage, headaches & totally knackered.
I sound like a bundle of fun! Wink

helsbubble17 · 17/02/2014 20:16

It's lovely to see so many October peeps!! I found out 2 weeks ago so I think I'm 5 weeks at the min. I'm getting tired being lectured to, about exercise!! Love my body pump and spin, and as long as I feel fine don't see why I should stop lol!! I know it's only because people care. Have stomach pains and heart burn at the moment. I'm sure the sickness will kick in soon :.)!!

bumpbangbump · 17/02/2014 20:18

You don't have a placenta until about week 6 I think so the baby is living off its yolk rather than what you're ingesting. You'll be fine!

helsbubble17 · 17/02/2014 20:18

And definite hormonal rage on and off lol, for no reason!!

binkybunny · 17/02/2014 20:22

carebear the bands work for me. I get really really sea sick and have used them successfully on a few rough crossings. This morning they were a Godsend. I was sooo nauseous :-(

You really dont get to see much at an early scan and until 8 weeks there was the chance of not seeing a heartbeat. We were lucky and saw a tiny tiny flicker of a heartbeat at 6 weeks. Amazing but I'd rather have waited until 12 weeks than go through last weeks stress. It was quite how I imagined seeing our little tadpole for the first time!

ExcitedCJ · 17/02/2014 20:23

bumpbangbump I love you! Thanks, will sleep a little easier tonight.

officelady · 17/02/2014 20:25
