All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

Sorry baby all ok here but still no kicking. Had a growth scan and ctg!!

Maybe I shud tell u at this point I'm thistle with a name change!!WinkWink

PotatoPolly · 10/02/2014 19:31

I know what you all mean about sex, it just feels like a lot of effort! poor dh!
I've fallen in love with Lin&Leo baby bags, but they're just too pricey Sad

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 10/02/2014 20:13

Would people recommend Mother&Baby magazine? Is it any good? It's not available in any local supermarkets I've checked but the subscription deal looks pretty good :)

Glad to hear all is ok thistle/bornin :)

moobaloo · 10/02/2014 20:37

Oh hello thistle/bornin!

Please someone tell me I'm being daft... Had pain in the right hand side of my ribs for the last couple of days when I sit/slouch and have got it into my head baby has his foot stuck in my ribs Hmm this happened to someone I know and babies foot was all bent when he was born, so not completely nuts thinking!

In my vivid dreams I see my stomach move and see feet and hands pressing out clearly, but in real life I don't see my stomach move due to anterior placenta. Sad. Baby jumped this morning when dp dropped something though! Could have been a coincidence but I think he heard it!

Re. Bag chat. I got a bababing from eBay for a tenner Grin happy! It's not beautiful, but so useful with lots of pockets, built in mat and cute illustrations to tell you what goes in which pocket, nappies/bottles etc. and carabiners to hook dummies and toys too! I love gadgety stuff!

mummytobe88 · 10/02/2014 20:49

moobaloo I'm sure everything is fine. More than likely is baby's foot but definitely wouldn't think it was stuck. Just having a good old stretch!

I know this is going to sound ridiculous/ungrateful but I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with everyone buying things for the baby. This is the first grandchild on my oh's side so everyone is uber keen to buy us everything. I'm truly grateful as we're also moving house this year so have very little free cash lying around to buy things but I feel like I cant pick things up when I'm out and about as everyone else has already bought them! It's my first baby so want to enjoy picking up bits and bobs.

Even as I'm writing this I know it's ridiculous, maybe just the pregnancy hormones!!

moobaloo · 10/02/2014 21:03

Thanks mummytobe! I know how you feel with everyone buying things, this is the first baby in both of our families for 18 years!! No pressure haha! Have had to forcibly stop people from buying things now as we have too much! It's lovely they're so keen but a little overwhelming! I like to buy things, usually second hand, because I want to sell it all once it's no longer needed, ( no space to keep stuff and not much money!) and I'd rather not be selling presents as that feels quite ungrateful!

Also, on a totally childish note, relatives have bought lots for baby... But nothing for me, and I'm so skint it's a real struggle for clothes etc. I keep scouring eBay and charity shops but am living with 1 pair of jeans a couple of tops and 1 dress, plus any pre pregnancy stuff that will stretch over bump and not look daft. Gets me down that I have so little to wear and everything I want costs ten times as much as something I'd buy for the baby. He's not here yet and he has far more clothes than me!

Will stop being self obsessed now Grin !

mummytobe88 · 10/02/2014 21:15

That's exactly how I feel as well, would hate to have to sell on prezzies because they certainly aren't unwanted but we are on the verge of having too much!

My little one is also going to have a better wardrobe than me at this rate and she's not even here! As I say we're moving house from rented 1 bedroom to our first bought home with 2 bedrooms so at the moment have absolutely nowhere to put her clothes.

I'm currently living in two pairs of leggings, one pair of jeans and jumpers/tops that fit over the bump.

I'm just having a moan as I really am loving being pregnant and am so grateful for everything. Got to love the hormones though haha

Squiffie · 10/02/2014 21:20

Thanks for the car info flea have passed onto DH!

The no sex talk has made me giggle! We're getting some action although nowhere near as much as DH would like as I'm sure he'd like to do it at least twice an hour a day!

I've been swimming today for the first time in ages and did, wait for it, drumroll please 26 whole lengths, lol Wink

MrsFooCough · 10/02/2014 21:47

potato I've seen bad things about Lin&Leo customer service, charging £50 to repair despite having a warranty Hmm

SarahJinx · 10/02/2014 21:54

Mummy, I have four work outfits and wear them pretty much in the Same order each week! H&M good for cheap basics - tees, vests etc - and I saw maternity jeans in Primani last week too.

Moomin I work for the publishers of M&B, it's a lovely mag, might be able to pm a half price subscription link if you're interested?

Sex? You crazy guys. Last time we did, I was around 17 weeks, only just over all the early bleeds (which I now know we're the result of placenta prevaria) and I bled again afterwards, it freaked DP out, and frankly me too so we're mutually agreed, we have the odd sort out here and there and he has huge boners of a morning, poor boy!

GTT tomorrow, grrrr.

randdom · 10/02/2014 22:19

Have just got some really good value baby clothes off eBay. £10 for 34 baby grows. They are second hand but have arrived and are in really good condition.

For people who are looking for maternity clothes it might be worth looking for clothes bundles on eBay. They are usually good value.

ClearlyMoo · 10/02/2014 22:23

This is probably one for AIBU but got home from work to find DH had done post holiday laundry. Welled up with love THEN realised only his own stuff. So I cried. I feel bad now for being cross at him, but if he'd just put one pair of my socks or pants in I'd feel less like it was selfish. He was really apologetic, said he wasn't thinking. I know I should just be grateful he does so much housework anyway but after 5.5hrs sleep and 3 hrs driving today my temper was short. Think it's ok now!

Squiffie so impressed about swimming - 26 lengths is my maximum and certainly not for a first time swim.

28 wk MW appt 2mrw (I will be 27+3) scared I will be gtt candidate as gained a fair bit of weight and am thirsty as anything. Are offer people who've had all clear on gd front also thirsty?

NannyPlumForPM · 10/02/2014 23:39

Moomin- I think mother and baby is really good -
Especially when you move onto slightly older babies rather than pregnancies etc. The other one you might wNt a look at is gurgle - they sell it in mothercare and elc as well as a couple others :)

Xavielli · 11/02/2014 04:15

Clearly - I'm always thirsty during pregnancy. My GTT has just come back clear. :) re: washing, that's a bit rubbish! These men just don't think sometimes, added to the fact that pregnancy turns things you'd usually just be a bit 'meh' about into a huge deal.

PotatoPolly · 11/02/2014 07:52

Ooh thanks mrsfoo, maybe I'll avoid them then! Just seen that there's loads of blooming gorgeous bags half price on their website, think I'm going to go for one of those!
Ohh the washing thing sounds exactly like something my DH would do- not purposely, just without thinking!

NannyPlumForPM · 11/02/2014 10:23

Erm I can't help with the dh bashing- I would be over the moon if dh didn't hide his boxers behind the bathroom door and I'm pretty sure he thinks the washing fairies wash the clothes and they end up back in his draw nice and clean?

He recently came back from a stag weekend and I washed everything haha, saying that he does all my cooking and buys me lots of nice things.... So I am basically a housekeeping prostitute Grin will do housekeeping for good food and treats

MasterFlea · 11/02/2014 10:53

Ha Ha at the Washing fairies! If only there was such a thing. Clearly I think it was a pretty normal reaction that you had. Good that you talked about it with him too. And crying is normal for a pregnant woman. I tend to get ragey rather than teary.

dobedobedo · 11/02/2014 11:09

I rarely do dh's washing. I tend to do my own and ds's and leave him to do his own. We clash, laundry wise. We have very different views on laundry. (also if he tumble dried my jeans or knickers it would make me feel fat when they were too tight so I don't trust him)

Today I'm mostly in a rage. We have this new colleague in work who everyone loves, and he's very likable and funny, except he's trying to take business from me and collect the bonus on it so tomorrow I'm working with him alone and I'm going to have it out with him. Who does he think he is? I'll rip his head off.

These hormones better be useful for something! Angry

AliOh · 11/02/2014 12:19

My DP always only does his washing clearly - it really annoys be tbh because half the time he puts on a half load wash of his own clothes, why cant he just throw in a few of my things in too?! I shouldn't moan but I'd rather he just let me do all the washing - doesn't help as well that he will put a wash on and then expect it to magically take itself out and hang itself on the airer Angry

Still, I cant complain because that is one of his only faults, he does do more around the house than any man i know!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 11/02/2014 12:36

We just wash whatever's in our basket, whenever the washing machine is free. Joys of living in shared housing Grin

We've just filled in the application for that flat. Feeling nervous... fairly sure they won't rent to us because we're students, and it's a £150 application fee. Have put down that we're expecting and that OH works though, and hopefully they'll maybe understand that we're not just looking for student digs for 9 months of the year, we're actually after a family home.

LongTailedTit · 11/02/2014 12:37

The only time DH does his washing separately is his work clothes, and that's just to save us getting sawdust in our pants, he's probably more domesticated than me, tho he does admit to being crap at hanging washing out - he lays it on any old how and then wonders why it's all a creased mess!
He's got the week off and is currently Viakalling the sink...

I had my GTT this morning, it wasn't too bad, grim clear stuff to drink tho. I took my knitting for the 2-hr wait, figured I may as well do something useful!

MrsFooCough · 11/02/2014 13:18

Re the washing stuff, DH has never been very good at it. Bought a cheapo tumble drier when we moved in together and he looked at it, TERRIFIED. He'd never used one before. He was 38 at the time. Hmm
So now we live with my DMum and DDad, and DMum does the washing/housework as I can't lift anything and she won't let me anyway! Also DH won't let me use cleaning products, because they might hurt Bean smug face, sits back and lets him do the work hehe so it all falls to DMum to do laundry/washing up and DH to do cleaning type stuff, so bathrooms/hoovering/steaming the carpet when DDog does a DPoo. Ahem.
So I feel your pain with the washing his clothes thing, he was USELESS with that sort of thing, but luckily it's not an issue any more Grin SO RELIEVED because I used to get so annoyed!

Midwife appt on 18th, I'll be 25+6 so is that just a bump check and BP and urine etc? Will I then be given a date for my GTT and all that jazz? Haven't heard anything about the bloody thing and tbh I'm sh*tting myself, I HATE blood tests. Ugh. Just put in a bloody TAP for the next 3mths.
Also when do I get to talk to a consultant about my birth plan? I need to find out stuff about the anaesthetic available, mobile epidural and all that...HALP!

ClearlyMoo · 11/02/2014 13:42

This morning I did a load of my post holiday washing and ONE of DHs socks as that was all I could find of his to wash...! He actually went and massively redeemed himself... He hung all the washing out to dry (mine and his one sock) while I was on a conference call (I am working from home!) so all is forgiven!

Waiting for MW now, doesn't look like it's my normal oneHmm which is a shame. I also did the worlds tiniest wee into a pot which is ridiculous given how much I normally need to wee! Not sure it'll be enough for the tests!!!

Bornin1984 · 11/02/2014 14:17

For us it's a case of whoever is home does washin and cleaning! We both work alternative shifts but dh is Monday - Friday!

Will wash pfb clothes seperate when he comes and they won't be tumble dried either

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 11/02/2014 14:32

MrsFoo do you definitely need GTT? Mine was done at 25 weeks. My midwife did book me in for mine so it's possible you'll get your GTT appt at your midwife appt :)

Yep my 25wk appt was bump check and measure, heartbeat listen, blood pressure and wee. 28wk has blood tests too.

Really not looking forwards to my Anti-D on Friday. It's weird, usually I'm fine with injections but this one scares me Hmm
