Hello everyone, off we go again...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

great news weejo, and try not to worry babyspice. I don't know if this helps, but it helped me to think that there was nothing I could do either way. We are all just vessels after all! Symptoms change and they can't unfortunately tell us anything. I also know that the worry never stops (not even when our dear little ones are grown ups!!) so have sort of forbidden myself from being a worrywort about every little thing/appointment/every time there's a scan coming up, as I know that - as I go on - I will feel more "invested" and I can't afford to start from def-con 5 on the worry scale at pre-12 weeks.
All that said we should all of us be delighted that TTC has worked and we have got pregnant, for however long, and the signs for that and holding a baby in the coming year are really good.
I don't know that I feel any more relaxed either, it didn't necessarily feel more real seeing the scan (it was as though it could have been someone else being scanned, I was a bit "not in myself"), but I put that down to it all being new and having no idea/expectation. I'm sure it will sink in when we start to show/feel kicks etc, but until then I still feel totally in the dark!!
sorry for long ramble, haven't really spoken to anyone other than DP and he is just as weirded out by it all....

PinaColadas · 22/01/2014 09:49

Brilliant news Weejo

Dream was totally amazing

Forgot to say too, was at the docs last night for flu jab (owchy my arm huuuurts today) and when I was in the waiting room (coat on, no way anyone could have seen my little bump or known I was expecting) this little girl, prob 4 or so pointed at me from accross the room and said 'Mummy, that lady is having a boy' I was like :O Didn't say anything but it was quite freeky and coincidental!!

HungryHorace · 22/01/2014 09:52

Flymo, you're so level headed about it all. I admire you. :-)

I worried less with my last - first - pregnancy than I am with this one. Crazy really!

Piña, what an awesome dream. :-)

I vaguely recall dreaming I was having twins too. God knows how I'll cope with 3 under 18 months. But that's the risk we took when TTC.

HungryHorace · 22/01/2014 09:54

That is really spooky, Piña! Can't wait to see if that turns our to be true!

And yes, great news, Jo. How come your DH wasn't allowed in for a lot of it?

babyspice2501 · 22/01/2014 10:02

Thanks flymo and nametobe... I know your right. I think the older we get the more we panic. I didnt worry half as much with ds and dd!

Pina how weird! She must be psychic? Waiting to see if you have a boy now!

Feelingfatty · 22/01/2014 10:21

Oh god morning nausea has just come back with a vengeance at the gym...was on lat trainer and literally started wrenching...so embarrassing! Had to get off and go sit on a bike, Bleugh!

WeeJo08 · 22/01/2014 10:24

Thanks ladies. I do feel a bit more reassured but I think I probably feel less so than yesterday! I don't know why. The dating was a bit weird. The first doctor (who, coincidentally, was an old school friend) asked me how far along I thought I was, I said 10 weeks, she scanned me and said "Ten weeks exactly" and said the baby was measuring 3.4cm. So that was fine and I was really pleased. She had a bit of bother with the settings on the scanner and measured twice as it came up with two different measurements, but again, at the end, she re-confirmed the 10 weeks.

Then I had the rest of all the appointment bits and then had to go and see a different doctor again at the end (I think because I had a third degree tear the last time so they wanted to check if I wanted to go for a vaginal delivery this time or not - I do.) The doctor looked through my notes and said, okay, so we're 9+1 and I said, erm, hang on, the other doctor said I was ten weeks exactly. She said oh, a week out is totally normal at this early stage. But I wasn't happy about it and asked again later in the conversation, and she said, why don't I scan you again and then we can see. So we did that and she said I was 9+4/9+5, which is still a slightly less, but made much more sense.

When I came home and looked at my notes, the 9+1 bit had a measurement of 3.0 something cm, so I think what might have happened is the first doctor noted down the wrong measurement from when the settings were a bit funny. And THEN, when I looked at my notes for my due date they had written 19th August which is 2 days ahead of what I thought in the first place....aaarrggghhh!! Obviously, saw the heartbeat which was great and I know there's such tiny margins at this stage, but still - a bit annoying!

What do you guys think? Confused Sorry for long post!

babyspice2501 · 22/01/2014 10:39

Oh gosh weejo. That sounds too confusing to me! That wasnt your 12 week scan was it? If I were you id wait until your 12 week scan as it's so early in pregnancy the measurements could make such a difference. Im not sure if that helps?

Ive just had to rush out to get a maccy ds breakfast. Really needed but feel I need to gag now!

WeeJo08 · 22/01/2014 10:42

BabySpice Yes! That's the 12 week scan! They don't offer the nuchal screening here at this stage, it's the quadruple test done at 16 weeks, so your !12 week" scan is done at any point between 8 and 14 weeks. And yes - SO confusing! Confused

babyspice2501 · 22/01/2014 10:44

flusteredmumtobe when you say p has been against pregnancy from the start do you mean your partner? If so why is he being like that? And we are all here for you if you need a chat xx

flymo79 · 22/01/2014 10:44

hmmmm, how frustrating weejo. I had some uncertainty around my dates due to the fact that I know how long my cycles normally are and the midwife who did my early-bird booking-in hadn't taken this in to account, so when it came to my scan my dates were different and I was 12+3 instead of 12+6. I'm sure the few days don't affect the size that much at this early stage, and there will be differences depending on if you're asking someone to date you on LMP or on a scan... I suppose it all catches up in the end and they probably have to make allowances each time... sorry, probably not helping! I'm not clear on this myself, I just kept asking if it was ok and what they expected, and they kept saying yes!

babyspice2501 · 22/01/2014 10:46

Omg weejo! How annoying! Im going to read your post again and see if I can offer better advice lol!

babyspice2501 · 22/01/2014 10:51

So does your due date put you at 10+2? Thats like 3 different dates isnt it? I would maybe speak to your midwife and tell her all the different dates youve been given and maybe ask for another scan as your still none the wiser?

londonchick · 22/01/2014 10:59

So sorry to Misery and Fizzy xx

Good to hear about other scans!

I'm feeling quite calm at the moment. 11 days to my scan and still feeling/being sick and overly exhausted but I do feel if it turns out there is no heartbeat, it will be for a reason and this baby wasn't meant to be. We all long for happy, healthy children. Sometimes it just takes a while longer. I'm just glad at this stage my body actually managed to get pregnant!

One day at a time for me I think.

WeeJo08 · 22/01/2014 11:00

Babyspice Yes, three different dates! Well, probably four - the 9+1 measurement, the 9+4/5, 10 exactly and 10+2....aarrgghhh!

Feelingfatty · 22/01/2014 11:03

Hmmm weejo no idea! Other than sounds like alls okay, they're obviously happy which is a good sign, are you telling everyone now or waiting until 16 weeks? I think id burst by 16 weeks!!!

WeeJo08 · 22/01/2014 11:16

I think we're going to start telling everyone now Feeling, still feel a bit funny doing it before 12 weeks, you know? Got my big scan date as well, had to phone up for it today - it's 1st April at 11:20am.

BunnyBaby · 22/01/2014 11:18

Ah WeeJo, great news on the scan!

I'm going to ask about the erosion/ectroprian thing at my next appt, as the most part I have normal discharge, but say 12-24hrs following large BM I may see the tiniest bit of red / brown / pink then back to normal. Instinct says it's OK.

Add me to the list please...

31y/o - baby #1 - 11 + 6 - due 7th August 2014

Scan on Tuesday for me..... so nervouse but very excited at the same time.

My symptoms have eased too. I do have a hideous headache today though, early to be for me tonight (again!).

flymo79 · 22/01/2014 12:07

Hi don't squeeze! I remember you from ttc boards! congratulations and good luck for the scan!!

lucyfluff · 22/01/2014 12:14

Weejo - I was told being up to a week out on scan measurements/dates is fine. I think anything over that then they check growth of bubs more frequently. I wouldnt worry about being put back a few days.

I cant believe it was your 12 week though!!! so is the next one 20 weeks??

travispickles · 22/01/2014 12:38

Fantastic news weejo and flymo! Very mixed feelings about my scan.

babyspice2501 · 22/01/2014 13:09

Oh my days weejo! I cant believe it lol! If that was me I would speak to my midwife and ask her because although its fine to be out by a few days, I wouldnt know which one to base it on and still feel like im in limbo on a proper due date etc

babyspice2501 · 22/01/2014 13:09

Welcome dontsqueeze!

PinaColadas · 22/01/2014 13:39
