Hello everyone, off we go again...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Awww try not to worry. I know thats easier said than done. Remember my GP said about the placenta starting to work and that can cause bleeding/spotting so it could be that.

Good luck later on and let us know what the doctor says.

Owlysims · 25/01/2014 14:31

I will so thank you Smile

Owlysims · 25/01/2014 14:32

I will do not so!!

Hi all

I have a question based on reading a few of the scan posts.

I'm 11.3 weeks but my dating scan with the NHS isn't until 10 March (when I'll be 16.5 weeks) because I am currently abroad in Mexico.

I am getting a scan next week at a private hospital in Mexico City to make sure everything is ok and on target.

However I'm now a bit concerned about the nuchal fold test. Before I left the UK I met the midwife and asked her if 16 weeks was too late for the downs test, which from what I read it sounded like it might be. She assured me it wasn't and that would all be done in March.

Some of the posts I've seen on here suggest otherwise. Does anyone know anything about this? I would like the test for some sort of peace of mind but I don't expect to get it here next week. Is 16.5 weeks too late?

Thanks all.

P.s I'm not much of a poster but I keep updated on this thread a lot.

NameToBeDecided · 25/01/2014 15:21

I think the nuchal scan has to be between 11ish and 14ish but there's a combined blood test they can do after that, I had blood tests only last time cos awkward bubba wouldn't stay still for the measurements. She ended up a breech baby and isn't much better at staying in the right place even now Grin Might be worth speaking to your mw again to confirm if that's possible.

Shakshuka · 25/01/2014 15:30

I understood nuchal translucency is 11-14 weeks and that you can't do the same test after that because of how the baby develops.

Surely you can do the test in Mexico City though? Is there a doctor or midwife you can consult with?

HungryHorace · 25/01/2014 15:35

Arrrggghh...my scan is at 11.35, not 11.00. Boo! How will I last that extra half hour or so?!

Harry, can't your scanner measure the nuchal fold for you?

travispickles · 25/01/2014 15:43

I had the scan apt booked by midwife but I haven't received a letter from hospital. Usually the send a letter with details about how much to drink etc. is that right? I had better not turn up and find its not been booked!!

Harryhart · 25/01/2014 16:13

I'll ask them next week when I'm there. With this scan I literally just called and made an appointment a fortnight ago with a secretary. I guess I wasn't expecting much more than an ultrasound telling me everything is on track. I don't know much about what the antenatal processes are here and I'm not a patient at the hospital (apart from an hour next week) so I wasn't expecting to get more than I'm paying for. I'll definitely ask though.

My London midwife may have been suggesting I would get the blood test rather than the measurement scan. She wasn't very helpful generally, one word answers, got me out the room ASAP.

Thanks

Thought I had a reprieve this morning as I didn't feel sick. By lunchtime though the yucky taste came back with a vengeance along with sicky sicky sick feeling and bladder pressure. Urgh. I know someone who had this for 22 weeks!
11+2 today. A milestone surpassed. 5 days until scan.

Anyone else not sleeping at night?

HungryHorace · 25/01/2014 18:29

I can get to sleep, but if I wake I'm often doomed for hours. :-/ Not good when your baby still doesn't always sleep through.

RoseHoney · 25/01/2014 20:19

Ah man! It's been so long since I posted that I'm off the list!
I'll have to try and keep up, this thread just moves so fast!

How is everyone??
I'm good, counting down the days until my scan, only 16 to go!! Smile

Owlysims · 25/01/2014 20:32

At hospital, I've had internal and cervix is closed no red blood so that's good news initially. They are arranging a scan for me either tomorrow or Monday. But having to wait as had to have bloods taken as have high blood pressure and temperature so need to see if all okay with bloods to assess if I can go home Confused keep fingers crossed for me ladies!

jazzyjenbo · 25/01/2014 21:22

I went out to play with friends last night and got home at about 12.30am. All day today I have felt like I have been run over. I am so knackered. My lovely DH has let me go back to bed for a couple of naps but I am already ready for bed now!

Owlysims · 25/01/2014 21:38

Thanks guys still here and dh is so impatient I think it's worse than bloody waiting!!!

mssleepyhead · 25/01/2014 21:43

Gosh owly, I hope you're ok. Sounds like a difficult night. Fingers crossed for good news for you. X

BunnyBaby · 25/01/2014 21:59

Zeen - I understand the family comments, my lot are Irish, and love to greet you with 'wow - you got awful fat didn't you?' and they don't mean it in a horrible way, it does make me laugh and Shock.

Owly try not to worry, I get a light brown discharge sometimes 12-18hrs post poo. And when they looked into it my blood pressure was sky high with the stress. Once I relaxed it settled down, fingers crossed you get home soon!

Good luck on all the scans, up north having lovely newborn snuggles and cuddles with our 2 week old nephew - squee!
