We've now welcomed mini sun, dawn, kat, zazou and selfies (please tell me I haven't missed anyone...)....who will be next?!

Those of us waiting impatiently will be showing down on dates, pineapple, RLT and curry while having awkward whale sex.

Shrops I got it after walking up a big hill too so sounds like a similar thing. It was bloody painful though, luckily I live on top of said big hill so I could just waddle back to my house. Guess today's walk will be on the flat.

I'm still waking around the magical 4am but going back to sleep after DH goes to work and today didn't wake up again til about 11.15am. On the one hand, feel exceedingly lazy...on the other, know that such lie ins are about to become a thing of distant history.

My new concern is that the post birth knickers I've bought are not big enough. Understand if you have a CS you want something that comes over the scar so as not to rub on it but otherwise are tummy huggers really necessary? Or just something that you can fit a maternity pad in?

OP posts:
EeyoreIsh · 23/01/2014 11:53

I've just gone for some normal sized large pants. I don't think they cover my tummy, but they should be big enough to hold in the maternity pads.

Just had my haircut, so pleased to get it in before baby arrives.

Now feeling sick. I keep thinking I'm going to go into labour because I feel sick/have backache/the odd bit of period like pain. Can someone please slap some sense into me, thanks Grin

glitterhoops · 23/01/2014 12:09

God I absolutely hate this part if being pregnant- last night the baby kicked upwards and caused my stomach contents to flood my mouth, such an unpleasant way to wake up : (

Must get big knickers too!

Bumpiemalumpie · 23/01/2014 12:19

Oh god, I have not heard about big maternity knickers, what do I need?? what size do you get them in?? I started at size 13 Blush so do I get them in that or bigger????

marzipanned · 23/01/2014 12:49

Eeyore me too (re the pants that is) The labour symptom spotting sounds as bad as pregnancy symptom spotting Grin Fortunately (?) I haven't had any symptoms at all or I'd no doubt also be getting my (large) knickers in a twist. But fingers crossed!

Bumpie I was a 10 pre-preg, now wearing a 14, which is comfortable (roomy) and that's the size I've bought the post birth knickers in.

I just bought a pack of full briefs in M&S.

winterflowers · 23/01/2014 14:02

Me too julietee and in a size up from normal. They're massive and I love them.

Haven't really experienced the knitting needles ywt but do get stabbing pains along the front of my pelvis when walking too much... it's pants as the weather here is gorgeous lately in the day at least and I am so uninspired to go out and enjoy it. must motivate self

CubanoHabana · 23/01/2014 14:05

Have to agree that the labour symptom spotting is just as bad as pregnancy symptom spotting...

I've been feeling sick and back ache / period pain / stab by knitting needles... Told mw today and she said good, shows baby is getting ready but nothing about it actually being labour symptoms....

jazzcat28 · 23/01/2014 16:07

Gosh so many posts since I last posted! Won't be able to mention everyone so here's a generic big fat waddly preggo welcome to the newbies and Cake and [tea] to everyone else!

Back from our first women only NCT class which was lovely as we got to meet 2 mums who were bf-ing (literally, in the class) with their adorable 15wk old babies. Also 4 of us went for lunch afterwards which was great, though the competitiveness has already started! First it was who had found the cheapest buggy (I totally failed with my Uppababy but at least one of the others had a Bugaboo) then it was who was pee-ing the most in the night, then it was who had the most annoying MIL... Perhaps I'm just feeling a little pg and hormonal but it did feel like an endless conversation comparing ourselves and unborn babies! They did seem lovely though and hopefully most of us will continue to meet up in the coming weeks.

One of the topics that came up in discussion was a 'babymoon'. I had never heard of this phenomenon. Apparently it's big in the states and is starting to make it's way in over here. It involves the baby's dad taking the pregnant mum on a nice weekend away somewhere (preferably hot and sunny or to a posh hotel for a spa weekend) for a last trip together to pamper and relax before the birth. How have I not heard of this?! Thinking the closest I'll get to this from DH is him cooking dinner for me and possibly paying for me to have my highlights re-done...

jazzcat28 · 23/01/2014 16:07

Emoticon fail, that should be Cake and [cuppa]

jazzcat28 · 23/01/2014 16:08

Oh I give up.

Unplastered · 23/01/2014 16:09

I can so sympathise with the 4am crew. I went to bed early last night, only to be woken at 11, 2.30 and 4 by DD (which involved changing her bed TWICE!) and only dozing fitfully in between due to heartburn. DH of course simply snored through it all, and only realised this morning when he noticed the huge pile of pee-soaked bedding dumped in the bath to wash today :-(

gnittinggnome · 23/01/2014 17:48

jazzcat I had always imagined a babymoon was a period post-birth where it was just you, your partner and the baby.... Both sound like good ideas, although I'd rather bank the long-weekend for when I could laze around, wear sexy undies and drink obscene amounts of champagne. (Which I realise is going to be even less likely post-baby, but hey, I can dream!)

champs we were given a bottle of Laurent Perrier Rose for our wedding 2 years ago, and were going to crack it on our first anniversary (but I was already preggers by then, and no way was I going to let it go at one glass) so that is going in the fridge as I leave for the hospital!

I have a bottle of Moët in the fridge already! Although I must admit, I prefer Laurent Perrier rose - when hubby was trying to woo me, he bought countless bottles to try to impress me (which was fab - although would not let him do it now because of the cost!)

Mw today has said that she thinks we will only have 1 more appointment before baby turns up (next appointment at 37+4)...

gnittinggnome · 23/01/2014 20:09

champs since the GD diagnosis I've not had my favouritest ever takeaway, which is crispy chilly beef, egg fried rice, prawn crackers and prawn toast. Which is probably good, because I'm not sure there is much there that is recognisably "food" but I am very much looking forward to my pancreas recovering from its hysteria and letting me have this, just occasionally. (And if I'm not already there, I'm heading in on Monday for induction, so not long before my first attempt at breastfeeding with one hand, flute in the other!)

Cubano you need some determinedly booze-fuelled friends - my FB feed is full of which supermarket is doing what deal on fizz and single malts, it was saving us a fortune before Bean arrived! Let's hope your MW is right as well, that sounds like a good time for mini-Cubano to arrive!

Champs if that makes you feel bad, the MW made me book my 41 week appointment last time I saw her!

Thingymajigs · 23/01/2014 20:32

Yep me too. I'm already booked in for a sweep at home at 41 weeks. My MW doesn't seem to think I'll be popping anytime soon.
Anyone had relatives checking for "twinges" yet? I had my first today when my grandma called (she never normally does). I told her that I'd probably be going over so she shouldn't get excited. Seems like everyone is on red alert but me. I'm just sat here bored, twiddling my thumbs and trying not to eat everything in the house.

Shropshiremummy2B · 23/01/2014 20:46

Cheapsparklingwinebubble just doesn't have the same ring to it though, does it?!

We have a bottle of Cristal in the fridge although this is the third time it's been put in the fridge. First for engagement, then wedding, just never got round to drinking it. I guess it will be retirement when we actually get a taste.

lastnight ummmmm did it not strike you that I might just be well 'ard? Don't spoil my only pregnancy sign!

laura0007 · 23/01/2014 20:49

Yes thingy! My mum has text me everyday so far this week to see if there is any sign of her grandson Hmm annoying! Plus she's my birthing partner so does she just think I'm not going to bother calling her when I go into labour!!! Arghhhh!

Mmm dreams of prosecco and bollinger tonight Wine

After having a quick browse through recent posts, and in day 5 of motherhood here's my advice to those asking about maternity pats.
FWIW, in my experience don't bother with paper ones, just make sure you pack comfy ones. I just picked up cheapies from Tesco (in black), maybe one size up. What's really important though, is plenty of maternity pads, and a massive stash of sanitary towels at home.

I've been given a cot 56cm x 114cm - anyone know where I can buy sheets for this size?

Thanks
