We've now welcomed mini sun, dawn, kat, zazou and selfies (please tell me I haven't missed anyone...)....who will be next?!

Those of us waiting impatiently will be showing down on dates, pineapple, RLT and curry while having awkward whale sex.

eeek babies really are flying out all.over the place!!!

wow sassy that does not sound fun & is additional stress that you just don't need.... I agree with what others have said because you need clarity!!! delayed 36 week appt today....all feeling very real now Shock

SugarMiceInTheRain · 29/01/2014 08:36

Insurance companies usually tell you to check with your doctor, and as long as the doctor clears you to drive then you're ok.

I have finally got round to booking my pre-birth haircut, leg & bikini wax and eyebrow threading/tinting. Dyed my hair darker yesterday to avoid the problem of root regrowth in the hazy, sleep deprived weeks with a newborn. So hopefully I won't look quite so horrendous Grin Also finally got the guts to tell school I can't come in and help any more. I think DS2's teacher was expecting me to go in til I drop, and possibly even come in after the baby is born Confused Have also told my pupils that next week will probably be the last lesson til Easter, but I may do some early in the following week (day or two before baby arrives) depending on how I feel.

Sassy when expecting DS1, I was seen at the consultant's clinic by a registrar who didn't have a clue what was going on, even after reading my notes, couldn't answer any of my questions and was just a waste of my time. Phoned the consultant's secretary to complain and asked to see the consultant. They arranged for the consultant to come and see me at my local GP surgery instead of me having to traipse to the hospital in the next town. Result! Smile Hope you get hold of somebody and get some definitive answers.

HarlemWobble · 29/01/2014 08:46

Sassy how annoying! Hope you get to speak to someone soon to clarify the situation. Sounds like you were all prepared for the ELCS. Is that definitely off the cards if placenta has moved, or could you still request one?

Another one here who can't quite believe how many babies have been arriving! Baby was head down and 3/5 engaged at last weeks me appt. Reckon I could still go way overdue though, I just have a feeling LO isn't ready to make an appearance any time soon.

Ruey spending most of the day on the phone to work when on mat leave does not sound like fun. Hope it won't be a regular occurrence for you.

3 days left at work for me. I'm excited but also worried that I've still got so much to do/handover. I'm trying to be patient with my mat cover but he's so god dammed slow!!

How was the nct bf class Winter? I enjoyed ours although felt the teacher was a bit evasive when asked for an honest opinion on how much it would hurt to begin with. Hmm

Have a good day preggos! And good luck with the EVC today Jazz and tomorrow Middy

Sassy20 · 29/01/2014 09:52

Thanks Bugsy, Sugar and Harlem. I've spoken to the hospital and got an appt with yet another consultant this afternoon to discuss my concerns. It will then be up to them whether I can have another scan or not. Keep your fingers crossed for me. X

excellent news sassy,.... if in any doubt about what they are saying then cry until they do everything until you are happy Wink

CubanoHabana · 29/01/2014 11:11

Good luck sassy and jazz

Sassy20 · 29/01/2014 11:46

Thanks everyone - I will stay until I'm happy and yes I will probably cry as well as did on the phone to the antenatal day unit mw! X

Littleen · 29/01/2014 12:05

Good luck with your appointments and ECV's ladies! Will keep fingers and toes crossed for success!

Sassy20 · 29/01/2014 12:24

Well another update. Just been contacted by Senior Midwife at hospital who spoke to other mw from day unit who I spoke to this morning. She was really nice and sympathetic and has booked me in for an internal scan this afternoon before my consultant appt. I feel so much better as this will give me the definite measurements and peace of mind I need. Smile X

winterflowers · 29/01/2014 13:00

That's great news sassy and I'm pleased they are taking.it all seriously :)

The bf class was fun harlem but don't feel ee learned much that you can't pick up from books. Would have been nice.to have something more practically or experience based. The lady was v positive about it all as well, perhaps shielding us from reality? But it is good to know we can call on them at any point for help.

Am SO exhausted at the moment even though am sleeping maybe 8/9 hrs a night. I am NOT prepared for two hourly bfing and nappy changes at all. Eeeeek

SugarMiceInTheRain · 29/01/2014 13:44

Glad they're taking it seriously Sassy - it's no fun being messed around so close to giving birth, when you feel so fragile and hormonal.

Just been out for a sneaky lunch date with DH, got to make the most of being able to do that before everything gets turned upside down again! When I picked him up from work I was soooo hungry, but find I can hardly eat anything before feeling stuffed as there's just no room in there. I guess grazing is the answer Grin Getting kicked to bits right now, actually feeling internally bruised not to mention as if I'm going to constantly wet myself as my bladder seems to be under permanent pressure Hmm

Sassy20 · 29/01/2014 15:53

Well I'm now cleared for a normal delivery so bring on the Pilates ball, hot curries, sex and pineapple!!! Grin

Placenta is far enough away and consultant has reassured me all ok for normal delivery - the waiting game begins! Thanks for everyone's support. X

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 29/01/2014 16:26

Fab news Sassy, although it must be hard to get your head around it as it's not what you were expecting.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 29/01/2014 17:20

Glad you have received clarification now Sassy. Bring on the birth! :)

sassy so pleased for you! Get on that ball love and bounce for Britain Grin

For those of you not on FB or who may have missed my earlier post here's a bit more detail about my ECV today:

Went to labour ward for ECV at 08:30 this morning. (Didn't mention this on FB but the receptionist was the crazy one who was in the OBEM episodes filmed at our hospital! DH thought I was bonkers when I told him). Got my very own 'birthing' room. Midwife looked after me until the doctors arrived. In their droves. It seems a breech baby plus ECV = very interesting stuff. In the end the normal doctor tried to turn it and then the senior consultant tried and both times I was in agony as they only got it to move about 30 degrees. They tried for 30 mins in total. They felt I was in too much distress and baby was not budging so decided to stop.

Then everyone just left as if the biggest gig in town had been cancelled - not even a goodbye! DH was not impressed. Midwife and doctor wrote up notes and looked in a big diary and said 'how does x date suit you for your ELCS?' So we are booked in for week 39 (keeping date a secret). Have told our parents a white lie and told them it's 2 days after the real date so we can still have the surprise birth announcement.

Later got home to read through my notes (which have now doubled in size). Found this gem "Jazzcat welcomed to labour ward, introductions given, notes reviewed. Obs taken with consent... ... Jazzcat farted." Later enquiries with nursing friends suggest this should read fasted but made me giggle so thought I'd share with you!

So now we are counting down the days to becoming parents, getting excited about knowing the date and keeping the secret to ourselves (and DH's boss). Now just need power and boiler fixing so I can have a bath....

Sorry for epic post but I'm bored without TV whilst waiting for power!

rueyrichardson · 29/01/2014 18:26

Good news Sassy. Hope you can get your head around the change of plan! My immediate reaction when we went from ELCS to planned pushing was to buy jelly babies and Jaffa cakes (good for energy in labour) - course I have eaten them all now.

Sorry about the ECV Jazzcat. Sounds painful. Lovely that you can plan now though and be really ready - mentally and at home.

Went shopping today in a fit of "must make the most out of mat leave". Oven cleaning tomorrow. Oh joy.

Littleen · 29/01/2014 19:00

Glad to hear things are getting clearer and more sorted for people!
I've just been at my aunts, and she's given me lots of little basic clothes, bed sheets and a sleeping bag for the pram! Woop woop!

CubanoHabana · 29/01/2014 19:04

I don't believe it - so last week clutch went on oh's car, had to pay to join AA to get car towed, then £500 for clutch, now went to drive His car to pick him up from train station, to find flat tyre (nail gone right through tyre inner wall), so had to pay £180 for 2 new tyres (he wouldn't just get one) - that's over £800 in a week on one car! Won't get them fitted until friday, so can't go into labour until then, as oh not insured on my car!

Sassy20 · 29/01/2014 19:21

Thanks everyone. Yes I've now got to get my mindset back to a natural birth. My way of coming to terms with the idea of the c section was to think of all the negatives of natural delivery that I wouldn't have to go through! Now I have to switch it over and think about all the positives of not having a c section and pushing this baby out!!! X

notoneforselfies · 29/01/2014 20:04

Totally dropped off the thread in the last few weeks but marking place and intend to read all in the early hours tonight Smile

Could be the start of something Champagne x

Littleen · 29/01/2014 21:31

Cubano Sounds like a bit of a nightmare that :O

Champagne Hope you feel better in the morning, or perhaps it's the start of something more? ;)

Does anyone else get frustrated at every book/magazine/website saying how because we're pregnant, we should be treated as princesses and pampered from head to toe by our other halves? Just makes me feel like there's something very wrong, as it's not happening!!
