Might not mean anything frank, my BP was high for me a couple of weeks ago but I know that's because I was running late, in a mad panic dashing about and they were ready for me as soon as I turned up. When I had it taken at the EPU a week later, having been sitting still for an hour, it was much lower again. So hopefully its just that.

I have got a sore stomach and a very bad mood going on today.

eurochick · 20/01/2014 11:37

frank it can very hugely. I've had mine taken twice at the EPU, a week apart. Both times I was stressed, for obvious reasons. The first time I had been getting wound up at the rude chavs people in the waiting room and it was absolutely sky high. The second time it was completely normal. So don't read too much into one reading.

eurochick · 20/01/2014 11:38

wink I've got a stinker of a cold and a dodgy stomach too. I think they are part of the same delightful package. And I can't take the good drugs.

MyNameIsWinkly · 20/01/2014 11:41

Sympathy euro. What are your cold symptoms? Jakemans lozenges are very good for congestion and sore throats, and you can't beat a bit of vicks for the cough.

I am strongly considering not going to work today, I don't have euro's cold but I'm knackered and the dodgy belly shouldn't be taken into a small communal toilet.

MyNameIsWinkly · 20/01/2014 11:44

Also, this crappy weather is bringing me down. I did some fantasy holiday shopping just now - would it be entirely ridiculous to consider a week in Cyprus with a 3 month old at the end of September?

eurochick · 20/01/2014 11:55

Mostly I just feel like crap. I ran into the office this morning, grabbed my laptop and paper and came home. I think I'm going to have lunch then go back to bed for a while.

I have:
a tickly cough
a dodgy stomach
a slightly snotty nose, but it's not blocked
and I just feel like death warmed up.

Bleugh.

SinkyMalinks · 20/01/2014 11:59

Little babies are pretty portable Winks. How long is the flight to Cyprus though?

I spent last night on the phone to a friend planning our next holiday which will be with an ?8 month old and a 3 yr old. The 3 yr old on a flight might be interesting... But am hugely excited already, despite it being almost a year (and several life changing events) away...

Frank, like the others have said, don't worry too much about your blood pressure. When on the pill I would always forget about my appointments to represcribe it, so would run to make it then be sent to sit for 30min to let my bp fall to an acceptable level. And I normally run a low bp. Make sure it's watched. Sure it'll be fine. And I saw you'd said fat face hadn't returned. All good.

I was pretty much house bound yesterday with Braxton hicks. Was hoping it was dehydration/one of those things but took me ages to get to work today as I get them after about 10metres. Tedious. Any opinions, is this me till the end, or might they ease off again?

Hmm, 4.5 hours gatwick to larnaca, maybe Spain would be a better bet. Is majorca warm at the end of September?

FrankelInFoal · 20/01/2014 12:20

Oh we're a healthy bunch aren't we! Fair point about not taking one set of readings in isolation, I'll see what it looks like on Thursday and let the midwife guide me.

Sinks I don't think I've had much in the way of Braxton Hicks, maybe the odd twinge here and there, but if they keep ramping up I'd talk to your midwife. My understanding is that they shouldn't be painful per se like a contraction, more of a tightening and release.

SinkyMalinks · 20/01/2014 12:33

No. Not painful really, but tight and really uncomfy if I'm sat up/curled up. Need to be lying flat... Am seeing midwife next week so will mention it if it carries on.

I think our plans is the canaries, so 3 hours ish? I have friends who have flow to Australia/USA with tiny babies though, so it's totally doable.

pinkr · 20/01/2014 16:06

Little pink has her first cold. Poor wee pet is so mmiserable...feeding is really difficult and she's ccrying and then trying to smile. she's a trouper.

FrankelInFoal · 20/01/2014 18:10

Aww poor mini-pink Sad What can you do for her, bar snuggles?

pinkr · 20/01/2014 19:02

Have given calpol And used a baby vicks but there's not much else for it. It's awful when they get so upset

pinkr · 20/01/2014 19:06

Oh and Frank my BP rocketed during one appointment and they wouldn't let me leave the hospital until I'dbeen monitored for three hours. The reason...Being kept waiting ages then being taken intoa diabetes clinic which was...a consultant, a dietician, a midwife and a diabetes nurse plus a diplus a student midwife. All in the one room and alstaring at me whilst they took turns to ask questionsand examine me etc. No bloody wonder my BP shot up!

MyNameIsWinkly · 20/01/2014 20:14

Oh poor wee little Pink, though she's done well getting to 5 months without being poorly. It's awful when you can't just make it all better.

I didn't go to work in the end, I vommed spectacularly then sobbed a bit. Feel a little better now but drained. How are you doing euro?

maamalady · 20/01/2014 22:54

I have had a lovely calm evening, which has ended rather disappointingly with a dodgy stomach. I think I may have caught winks' and euro's bug through the internet...

I don't blame you for not going to work, winks! Get some sleep and hopefully all will be improved in the morning :)

Get well soon minipink, too :)

FrankelInFoal · 21/01/2014 07:51

Not you too Euro! Lots of rest and fluids all round I think.

eurochick · 21/01/2014 11:29

I feel even worse today. The stomach part has eased but the cold symptoms have ramped up. I am sitting here next to a pile of snotty tissues. Apologies to anyone I transmitted it to over t'internet. At least I don't have loads on at work, so I can just do a few bits on my laptop from home.

Poor little pink. It must be even worse if you spend the majority of your time horizontal.

winks that sounds awful. No wonder you feel drained.

MyNameIsWinkly · 21/01/2014 11:53

I seem to have caught euro's cold via t'internet.

I've had a shite sleep, waking up to cough and create some airspace in my bunged up nose. HWCA didn't sleep either, he's taking his mum off for her second round of chemo today. Sofa, cream cheese on crackers and a cup of tea it is. euro, draf, hope you both perk up soon.

On the plus side, my lovely new chest of drawers and bedside tables arrived this morning (at 7.30 - who delivers at 7.30??) They're gorgeous, and I can get rid of the crap, falling apart chest of drawers in the spare room (which makes space for a cotbed. Scary.)

ALittleFaith · 21/01/2014 14:21

Afternoon all. Sorry to hear about all the ailments. Tis crap when diffed and you can't take anything good. Hoping all recover quickly.

We had a cheap bouncer from Tesco that Faithlet loved. We did also invest in a Fisher Price swinging chair which got the non-sleeping child to sleep. Bouncer is good for plonking baby in while you shower.

MyNameIsWinkly · 21/01/2014 20:22

Quiet in here today! I'm looking forward to a very rock and roll night consisting of a glass of milk, 2 paracetamol and an early night.

FrankelInFoal · 21/01/2014 21:44

Hope the lurgy isn't keeping everyone out of action.

I'm fuming after a conversation with my mum. She's just told me she hopes I'm not planning on going back to work full-time after my maternity leave because it us now my "job" to bring up my children and not pay other people to do it for me Hmm

She then proceeded to give me a lecture on "the man is the head of the household it's his job to earn the money for the family". I pointed out it's not as simple as that these days with bloody large mortgages to pay and that, by the way, HWHNN is not the head of me - we are equal partners in this relationship.

She very condescendingly said "I used to think like that."

AAAARRRGGGHHHHH Angry

I love my mum to pieces but my god her prehistoric religious beliefs drive me insane at times.

MyNameIsWinkly · 21/01/2014 21:58

Oh frank, how bloody infuriating! My mum worked full time and just as well, my dad was in construction and worked bloody hard but there wasn't always work for him so she made sure the mortgage got paid and we could eat! And I never felt like she wasn't a proper mother ffs. But as for arguing - logic and sense just don't work with fanatics. Shame.

FrankelInFoal · 21/01/2014 22:06

Exactly Winks! I tried to point out to her that it was far more important that children are housed, fed and clothed and that sometimes that means both parents need to work full-time, but it fell on deaf ears.

The stupid thing is I may well decide to go back to work part-time rather than full-time, I'll decide nearer the time based on what works out best for us, but it was her attitude about it that wound me up IYSWIM.
