good morning preggos - I knew I should have come here for company when I woke up an hour ago Grin finally got to sleep early last night but forgot to sleep in the other side Angry I am also hungry but cba getting up yet. ds will probably decide to sleep in til 7 today too.
feeling v tired and emotional this last week or so. cried yesterday because I trapped my finger in a door (fair enough) but also because the cheese grater and soup spoons were dirty.
my craving for bleach is back with a bang - I just want to sniff it ALL the time! might mention it to mw next week as could be a sign of low iron but I do rather enjoy this craving Shock
no bags packed here yet (only 32+6) but baby now has some leggings so feel like I am making progress Grin

Another one who's been awake since 4.30! Read for a bit, then ate a banana at about 6 as was hungry, then had to get up for gaviscon and now just lying here unable to sleep despite being tired! Dd will no doubt be up soon and I'm going to be knackered later on. Ugggh. X

rueyrichardson · 02/01/2014 08:19

Morning all. I have backtowork-itis, currently I am on my (later than usual) commuter train plotting how I can work from home a few days next week to overcome the exhaustion! MW for me this arvo, hoping that she will come up with some info regarding low lying placentas and how people with them should mainly sit around and eat crisps. At the moment I don't have a problem with sleep in the night, but I feel for those who have - nothing more frustrating. Lavender oil in a vaporiser at bath time helps me occasionally but does not really prevent early waking.

5 weeks to go til EDD.

misskatamari · 02/01/2014 08:44

Thanks for the sleep suit scratch mitt tip marzi - I think some of mine do have them on - will need a look. If not I'm tempted to just bung some baby socks on her hands - surely they're the same! I see a consultant at hospital on Monday for scan to check if baby is breech then if so I'll see mw the week after when I'm 37 weeks. If not and baby is right way round she'll come over on weds and discuss home birth things. Fingers and toes crossed for that option!

Wow there must have been something in the air last night - I was awake from about 5 too and ended up eating crackers in bed as started feeling sick. Eventually got back to sleep for a bit about half 7 but now I need to be up and awaiting courier deliveries. Maybe I can have breakfast and just nap on the sofa so I can hear the front door.

Ruey I hope you manage to get some work from days - early morning trains do not sound like fun at all. I think more sitting around eating crisps is definitely needed Smile

misskatamari · 02/01/2014 08:46

Artisticme - I've sent you a pm on the app so fingers crossed you get it. Thanks for the tip on how sunflowered!

LittlePandaBear · 02/01/2014 08:52

Morning all - although it still feels like it should be nighttime. I've also not been sleeping properly at all - either it's baby squirming, me not being comfortable, DH with his cold breathing on me, or last night it was DD waking me up lots.

She's started having the most vivid imagination which is cute in the day (she has an imaginary friend called Barney) but not so cute at night! She was crying that she had 2 balloons in her mouth. It was a nonsense but she was upset about it. The night before she said that the pirates were coming and I had to stay with her to keep her safe. I think I've been letting her watch too much tv...

Oh well, I'm 34 weeks today :)

winterflowers · 02/01/2014 09:37

ruey definitely find a way to work from home! Hopefully they should allow you to be a bit more flexible now you're getting close...

Need to start thinking of hospital bag snacks, but knowing me as well I'll end up fancying something totally bizarre and unpackable.

Love the idea of socks as scratch mitts misskat, I don't have many.of those either yet but seems like a better investment!

Artisticme · 02/01/2014 09:59

dawn I'm pretty sure debenhams and next have a few different baby grows with the fold over mits:) they really are so much better!!

Really feel for everyone having sleepless nights:( I'm only getting them maybe once a week at the moment other than DD waking up with bad dreams.

misskat just noticed I have an inbox:)) haha thankyou I'll go have a nosey and see if I can message you back.

misskatamari · 02/01/2014 10:22

Snack wise I'm thinking nuts and dried fruit, sweets, cereal bars, nakd bars, bananas, coconut water, sports drinks, lots of water and ice bottle, sandwiches, apples, emergency Pepsi max incase I'm knackered and need a caffeine boost, crisps (always need crisps on hand).... That's all I can think of for now. I always carry snacks with me as notice my blood sugar dropping easily and feel really crap when it does so want to make sure I have lots on hand if needed. God I'm gonna need a hospital suitcase (the type you take for two weeks on holiday!)

DawnOfTheDee · 02/01/2014 10:48

Thanks Artisticme I'll have a look.

misskat I remember when i was in having DD1 I asked dh to get me a coke and they wouldn't let me have anything fizzy. Can't remember why now.

I couldn't actually manage eating that much as i felt a bit sicky here and there but when i did the best things were cereal bars (also useful when you have a newborn btw!) and dried apricots.

KalevalaForMePlease · 02/01/2014 11:22

I don't think I had any snacks last time, didn't even think of it! This time with the GD I suppose I'd better be more organised.

Oh my God, that first cup of tea and sandwich after you have the baby is the nicest thing ever! Mine was a cheese sandwich. I didn't like cheese sandwiches but I fell on it like a savage. Poor DH got nothing. I now like cheese sandwiches!

Julietee · 02/01/2014 11:23

Bag not packed (nor bought for), hardly any baby clothes, no travel system/ car seat.... ohhhh christiscles.
The only thing I'm actually organised with is the NCT bednest hire! Still, no sheets for that even once it does arrive. I think I am the least organised person on this thread.
Has anyone else had no nesting instinct yet? Just me?

Meanwhile I remain jealous of those of you already past 35 weeks - somehow that seems a lifetime away from 32 weeks! Then again, it has all the way through these past few threads and I've always managed to catch up eventually...hmm.

DawnOfTheDee · 02/01/2014 11:27

Julietee I'm not much of a nester. My instinct consists of thinking about things I should do then every so often making some microwave fudge.

Been looking on debenhams website for sleepsuits with fold over sleeves/mitts attached. I can't quite tell but do these look like they have they foldy over bit on ? linky

Littleen · 02/01/2014 11:32

marzi I get dizzy several times a day - only slightly, but annoying! It's due to increased blood supply according to my midwife and 1000 books read :) Nothing to worry about.

Hospital pillows and beds... Got to ask my midwife next week, don't even know which bag to put stuff in yet. As far as I remember, hospital beds are amaaazing to sleep on. Then again, last time I was in hospital for a few days I was in a very zombie-drugged-out state, so everything would probably feel comfy!

Sherlock.. Will have to watch it! My other half and his brother have decided that Sherlock is the name of the baby. Hrmf. Boys eh!

I feel utterly freaked out that little one still have loads of growing to do (still got 7 weeks left). Movements can be quite painful and sore, and I just don't get how it's going to work! Also the actual giving birth part have suddenly dawned on me, and I am not impressed by the idea...

prettyprudence I have on several occasions cried when the cheese grater has been dirty too - feel you on that one, haha! Even worse since getting a dish washer, as then I don't even have the option of cleaning it to use it, just have to wait!

Julietee My nesting instinct arrived about 3 days ago! So you're not the only one not in a rush :)

marzipanned · 02/01/2014 11:34

Dawn I had a look at my newborn size babygros and they all have the inbuilt mitts. Since they were in gumtree bundle they are from all sorts of places - Next, Sains, etc. It looks to me like the ones in the pic you linked do because you can see a bit of extra fabric sticking out from behind the cuff (most obvious on the very far right sleeve)

www.next.co.uk/x533900s4#872147x53 Looks like those ones might too but a bit hard to tell not in person!

Julietee · 02/01/2014 11:38

Dawn Haha, I like it :)
Those suits do look like something's going on at the arm, but the description is quite poorly written so I wouldn't trust that they'd have included that in the details.

Ok - help identify a clothing item for me.
What are those long onesie type things called that end in a dress/bag fastening instead of legs? So you don't have to fiddle with the legs while nappy changing? My aunt told me they're really good.

P.S. I reckon one of us will have popped by the time I start NCT classes on the 15th!

DawnOfTheDee · 02/01/2014 11:41

Cheers marzi I thought that too. I'll take a chance on them i think as they're in the sale!

gnittinggnome · 02/01/2014 11:42

julietee I've seen them referred to as "bunting bags" or sometimes "changing bags" as you can change a nappy without undressing the baby / getting them cold.

Julietee · 02/01/2014 11:45

Thanks! Will have a google. I'm currently searching the mothercare site with no luck.

Timpani · 02/01/2014 11:48

Oh goodness it feels so very real now it's 2014. Due date is less than a month away now. And if it's anything like it's sibling it'll be born before the month is out. Argh.

I haven't packed a bag, got anything down from the attic or ANYTHING.

misskatamari · 02/01/2014 12:01

Ooooh good call Julietee - I wanna try and get some of those for sleeping in too. I know someone posted a link a while ago but can't remember where it was for! My nesting comes and goes. Some days I just don't want to move from the sofa and others I can be quite proactive. The sun is out today so I'm being productive Grin gonna have a break and eat some cheese and crackers (mmmm pasteurised brie!!!) and then get some sort of hospital bag list together on the computer. Then I'm going to attempt to make a dent in the room of doom! Oh god and I need to try and get to the library as I have 5 books over a month over due! I'm gonna get told off and a mega fine. Books are in said room of doom too so fingers crossed I can actually find them!

LittlePandaBear · 02/01/2014 12:15

Miss Kat - you can call the library or renew online these days - not sure if you can pay a fine without going in though but you may be able to stop the fine getting any bigger!

I think I like nesting as I'm a bit of a shopaholic and it's a good excuse to buy stuff. I'm more about the buying than the cleaning though - haven't washed the sheets/clothes/blankets yet so I have that to look forward to.

Also agree about getting sleepsuits with fold over mitts, the separate ones just seem to fall off all the time. I'm sure Next and Sainsburys have these as standard and probably loads more places too.

tinypolkadot · 02/01/2014 12:16

Sorry to hear about all the trouble sleeping. I went to bed at just after 1am last night to discover dh cuddling my maternity pillow which meant it was all warm and out of shape. I like to get into a cool crisp bed when I can, so got off to a bad start but managed to sleep until 11.30! Shock couldn't believe it when I checked the time.

Dh has just text to say he's had to get all 4 tyres replaced. Just had mine done 2 months ago, bloody expensive but I guess at least the bean will be safe when he arrives.

Hospital bag - I have tried to do it a couple of times but just stand there looking at the list and all the baby stuff and not knowing what to pack first. Also what size is everyone taking? When they say 3 baby grows is that 3 0-3 month and 3 newborn or a mixture of the two? What if he's tiny or long?! Argh, too many things I don't know! As for snacks, I've bought a 4 pack of toffee crisps, is that not enough?!

First proper day of maternity leave for me, yay, and we start nct classes this evening. It's getting closer!

misskatamari · 02/01/2014 12:19

I thought I could do it online too but couldn't find anywhere that actually let me do it. Tried calling and all the lines are busy so will try again in a bit to stop the fine growing (fingers crossed). It's lovely outside so I'm hoping to take a walk up there anyway later (maybe with a quick trip to feed the ducks) although I probably won't actually be bothered Grin

I think the sleep suits I bought at Sainsburys had the fold over hand mitt things too so would definitely second looking there ladies
