Marlena could you maybe see if you could get a Bugaboo Cameleon at an NCT or nearly new sale if you really want it and know that it will be well used?

MarlenaGru · 09/01/2014 13:31

I have been eyeing them on eBay clutter The last NCT nearly new sale I went to scarred me for life Wink
I will see what dh says but if I sell it afterwards he might agree. Does anyone know if the Cameleon carry cot stands on its own? My sil got a My3 and the carry cot collapses when it is off the pram which seems ludicrous.

BEEwitched · 09/01/2014 13:31

I'm thinking of buying a baby hammock. The Leander cradle is beautiful but crazily expensive, though I've found a few affordable knock-offs - not sure I'd trust our ceiling to hold it, though!!!!

I'm buying this for downstairs: Playpen

Works brilliantly as a day time cot and for popping baby in while cooking/when the doorbell rings.

MarlenaGru · 09/01/2014 13:32

mylittle those swing things look very good! DD never slept anywhere other than in my arms as a newborn so we have a crib that I will set up this time but with the realisation that baby will most likely sleep somewhere very uncomfortable for me and it rather than in a crib!

ohcluttergotme · 09/01/2014 13:38

Playpen looks great Beewitched and good idea to keep them out of mischief as they grow!

Ladygonegaga sounds a great way to go about your labour. Did you hire the Tens machine and use it at hoem before you went in?
I've never used one but think I may see if I can hire one to use at the start of labour before going into hospital. Did you get my PM about being added onto FB group. Think I requested you on FB but may have the wrong person?

ohcluttergotme · 09/01/2014 13:40

Just completely ignore last message Ladygonegaga ! Thanks for adding me Smile

mylittlel · 09/01/2014 13:46

im just totally confused what to choose cot wise, my Dh came home and said that at work one of the ladies advised to get a crib or swinging cot (i cant find even this option on google, but heard about it myself), then my cousin said that when it swings its better, then my 2 friends had swinging mechanism, but one of them said not to buy crib or moses basket as its only for 3 months, so..what you think? or what would you use?

BEEwitched · 09/01/2014 13:51

clutter I like that it has an adjustable height bottom, all the ones I've seen in Mothercare are just flat - though I do love the look of those hexagonal ones!

BEEwitched · 09/01/2014 13:53

mylittlel I'll probably just get a cot, if I don't get seduced be the cuteness of a moses basket! (Or a Stubenwagen, which is like a cross between a crib and a cradle, with wheels so you can move it between rooms)

Depending on what baby likes and how fast it grows it might not be used much at all...

Bumblebeesmum · 09/01/2014 13:58

Mylittle a Moses basket is good if cot won't fit in your room to have next to your bed for first few months

LadyG I like sound of tens machine - they're expensive though?

Has anyone any experience / views on those bedside cosleeping cot type things?? I know they're ridiculously expensive but I did the accidental co sleeping after bf a few times last time & it seems a much safer & nice option??

BEEwitched · 09/01/2014 14:08

Just get a regular cot with a removable side? THat's what I'm currently thinking, there's also an Ikea hack out there to work this with one of their cots....

ohcluttergotme · 09/01/2014 14:09

Playpen

We got this for dd Bumble when she was over 6 months and it lasted really well and we used it again for ds and hopefully can use for this one. Is a little bigger than travel cots but really good as play pen as works as travel cot until they are 2.5 - 3.

Think the one your looking at looks like it will be good when they are little as you can have them higher.

mylittlel · 09/01/2014 14:11

we already have been given a cot, and i was actually was thinking just to buy new mattress, but then the fact that other people telling me that -rocking or swinging soothes baby makes me think- am i right in having just a cot?!

ohcluttergotme · 09/01/2014 14:15

Mylittlel

Could they mean this ?
Swinging Crib

We ahve a cot and moses basket but I'm tempted to get one as they think they do look good. I do have a swinging frame for moses basket and ds liked me to swing it after feeding him.

mylittlel · 09/01/2014 14:22

clutter nope, i found what they meant www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_171740_10001 its just way to expensive i think and comes only in white

mylittlel · 09/01/2014 14:23

www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_171740_10001 sorry didnt attach link properly, hope this one works

ohcluttergotme · 09/01/2014 14:28

That's really nice mylittlel but I actually prefer the Mothercare £45 one.
Think I'm going to go for Mothercare one until little one ready to go into proper cot.

There's just so much choice of lovely things and then you may have a little one who only wants to sleep in your arms Smile

SleepyNess · 09/01/2014 14:30

Marlena, could you elaborate on bee and newborns? I want the lightest pram I can get as my tube doesn't have lifts (just plenty of stairs).. Bugaboo bee looks good on paper (ie website) but its soooo tiny in real life that I'm not sure if its sturdy enough..
Having said that, I haven't actually handled any if them yet.. Any more suggestions?

Feeling so tired today.. Considering taking a nap in office loo...

mylittlel · 09/01/2014 14:31

thats true, lots of lovely items and its so difficult to pick one) i discussed baby sleeping matter with DH and we agreed that cot will be in our room by my side

MarlenaGru · 09/01/2014 14:40

sleepy the bee is very sturdy (the new one is even better but mine is the first version!)
It is also super light (I could carry it with dd in it up and down stairs if needed)
It turns so easily which is essential on buses and narrow London pavements.
The newborn thing is like a snuggle pod and works well but it isn't very breathable so it was quite warm. Not sure if new version is better though? I will research. I honestly can't fault the Bee after about 6 weeks! I might just use the sling initially but I just love the beautiful Cameleon Blush

Sareva · 09/01/2014 14:46

Bumble my OH is positive and both my DDs are positive so even although I hate the anti d, it's just as well I have been given it.
I also accidentally co slept whilst BF - but I'm being given a Moses basket for the first few weeks. Also I bought the graco evo, it was on special so ended up getting it for about £150 from mothercare this week. It's suitable from birth do I won't bother with the carrycot, and I have my old maclaren for later on.

Sareva · 09/01/2014 14:47

Ladies if buying stuff online don't forget about cashback sites, quidco and topcashback. Can save you a few quid...every little helps!

MarlenaGru · 09/01/2014 14:48

sleepy an old thread but seems I am wrong to assume it isn't ok for summer www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pushchair_chat/1243727-Is-the-bugaboo-bee-cocoon-really-o-k-from-newborn/AllOnOnePage

BEEwitched · 09/01/2014 14:50

DH and I originally liked the Mothercare Xtreme but the reviews are mostly bad so we've gone off the idea now, the Joie Chrome looks lovely but I need something that will be a bit more rugged.

ohcluttergotme · 09/01/2014 14:50

Marlena could you sell your existing praam system and put towaards new or nearly new bugaboo. It sounds like you really want it! Smile
