Toddler loved his 1st ever day in child care. Husband due home any minute - hoping his 1st day teaching wasn't too traumatic!!

SleepyNess · 06/01/2014 19:04

Still had migraine this nirn

SleepyNess · 06/01/2014 19:10

Sorry!

Woke up with migraine this morning so no work for me. Finally got better at around lunch time - after 60 hours!!! Arranged a phone-in appointment with a Gp for tomorrow. Only that - this is a new Gp so not familiar with my history, not ideal but well.

Re NCT - our cost over £300!! Crazy! It better be worth it! :) It's not THAT local to me, about 10 min bus drive away, but nothing nearer so fingers crossed there'll be some couples from our way.. Oh and they do one men-only evening! Very intrigued! :)

Congrats on happy scan. Seeing mw tomorrow! Will be told off for not drinking enough.. But it's just so hard to force myself to drink or even eat - anything that's not dried mango or hazelnuts has to be forced down!

Bumblebeesmum · 06/01/2014 19:22

Sleepy drinking lots really really helps reduce the headaches - I find I can tell when I don't drink enough I wake up in the night in agony. It's hard to force yourself & to remember though. Hope they get better soon

mylittlel · 06/01/2014 19:27

im really thirsty all the time, even worse when had something with pepper or chocs

hackneybird · 06/01/2014 19:43

bee have a lovely dinner, pleased it was a good scan. Have to wait til 22nd for mine.

lady great to hear your good news, and I hope the wait didn't ruin your Xmas too much.

bumble my DH started a new job today as well! He says his first day went well. Hope your DH didn't find it too much of a shock- was he off work as a stahd for long?

Hi ladies, would like to join your thread. I'm only 14+3 but having twins so I'm expecting them to make an appearance around the middle of June. First pregnancy so totally crapping myself! Reading through your earlier posts - cant believe so many have nhs services who are difficult over telling you the gender - mines told me what the sex was at my 12 week nuchal scan (didn't realise this was unusual) - having one of each.

Ps re the age discussion - I'm probably classes as a practically geriatric first time mum at 38 - but what can you do - always been a late developer

Redcliff · 06/01/2014 20:08

Hi twins and welcome. I also got told at my 12 weeks scan (boy - just the one) so am also surprised that many trusts won't - I find it hard to believe that telling would be that problematic. If people really want to find out surly they would find the money for a private scan so really think that some trusts are over reacting.

Jessiebaba · 06/01/2014 20:10

Welcome Expectingtwins That's amazing that you were told the genders at your NHS 12 week scan! Shock One of each is lovely though!

Glad your scan went well Bee

I must be one of the younger mums-to-be on the June bus - I'm currently 26 but as long as the baby doesn't come more than a couple of weeks early, I'll be 27 when he/she is born. I was planning to wait a couple more years before having my first but fate intervened. My mum was 34 when she had me and was considered to be quite old back then - I never noticed though Wink

Vickyvix · 06/01/2014 20:16

Congrats bee lovely news :)

And lady that's fab news, so pleased you've finally got the results and can relax and enjoy things.

Riblet it is the Signature course we were looking to do, just need to pick whether to go for early June to early July or late June to late July, I'm not sure they offer the essentials one in my area.

Hi expecting welcome to the thread, and congrats on your twins!!

jaykay987 · 06/01/2014 20:36

I told work today. Not as bad as I had feared. Feels quite nice that it's off my chest now!

So is everyone planning on finding out the gender? We're going for a surprise!

Has anyone seen the news story about the girl who gave birth in her onsie?! She was tuck in the hospital car park - so made me giggle about your earlier chat.

First day back in the office over and done with. I need to plan my annual leave, as I need my leave date before I can fill in the form that triggers my health and safety assessment.

I'm not allowed to carry holiday or bank holidays, so it looks like I'll have seven weeks to take before I start ml! Does anyone else have this? It seems loads and I doing want to be home alone and bored - especially if I go overdue it'll seem like forever!

Re health/risk assessment - has everyone had one? I'm due to travel a lot around Europe for the next couple of months, and I'm not looking forward to doing lots of flights alone. Is anyone else in a similar position? Do you think had might suggest it's not a good idea? Or am I just wishful thinking?

MarlenaGru · 06/01/2014 21:04

Could you do a few days a week instead of 7 weeks off jaykay?
I am hoping to take 4 weeks before but I got bored last time with 3 weeks as I went 2 weeks overdue but not commuting was blissful!

No idea about health assessment unfortunately. I have avoided telling HR so far. Just because I hate telling people really!

wispaxmas · 06/01/2014 21:05

Redcliff, didn't work for me, you either need double square brackets around the URL or click the button to automatically create links if you're on the website. This should work www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/8754811/Parents-could-be-barred-from-knowing-the-sex-of-their-unborn-baby-by-European-ruling.html

Interesting, but I doubt it will actually go into effect here.

Mitchell2 · 06/01/2014 21:34

I don't think my NHS trust tells you. I was speaking to one of the sonographers about it and in my area there is cultural considerations, where certain sections of the community will terminate often at a very late stage if the sex isn't the right one. I mentioned that people could just pay privately anyway, and she agreed but said the trust didn't want to contribute to it. Not sure if this is 100^ correct though

Sareva · 06/01/2014 21:36

Glad it went well Bee
Wow Jay - seven weeks before your ML does seem quite a bit, I'm lucky in that I can carry over as much as I like - so plan to tag it onto the end.
I bought some clothes today at lunchtime for my expanding waistline, fell asleep on the tube on the way home and then left my bag with my new clothes when I woke up disoriented at my stop Sad

wispaxmas · 06/01/2014 21:47

Jaykay, could you take a week this month, then the same next month and the month after? Surely it doesn't all have to be taken in a big lump, and do you really get 7 weeks?! That's loads, I only got 25 days!

MarlenaGru · 06/01/2014 21:47

Oh no sareva Sad

wispaxmas · 06/01/2014 22:00

Sareva, I've done that before Confused I left a brand new jacket I had bought in Hobbs. That was painful!

Redcliff · 06/01/2014 22:02

Oh no - have done my share of leaving stuff on buses and trains ( including my sons toy penguin) so I feel your pain. I guess it's worth checking with lost property ?

BEEwitched · 06/01/2014 22:07

Mitchell2 I understand that and it's really sad, but termination isn't an option in NI and we have a very small percentage of ethnic minorities, so I don't know why they won't. There was a big sign on the door warning you off!

Sareva · 06/01/2014 22:09

Yes Redcliff - have logged an enquiry, hopefully someone handed it in.

Ouch Wispa - at least mine were M&S sale items, I'm trying to console myself by saying they would not have fitted anyway Hmm

jaykay987 · 06/01/2014 22:11

Oh no savera how annoying!

Yes, I don't have to take it as a lump. I'm currently thinking two or there weeks before due date, and then use the rest to reduce me down to three days a week for the 6/7 weeks prior?not sure if they'll let me know. I can ask!

Wispa - I get 27days, but I also had a little I rolled from last year into this which has to be used. Then I have to use the bank holidays that arise between my due date and the end of the year. All are covered by the use it or lose it policy! I guess it's a nice problem to have. I just wish I could have rolled them into next year, so I could use them to stay home with the little one, rather than feel like I am wasting them now.

Mitchell2 · 06/01/2014 22:29

bee that's weird.. Although maybe they are concerned about people traveling to uk for terminations. It's such a hard thing, on one hand I totally see why they wouldn't tell, on the other hand why should people have to pay more to know if they want.

savera that's such a pain Sad but maybe as you say you can just fitted for long?

jay I'm still travelling, with my last trip potentially at 30 weeks to South Africa. They haven't done a risk assessment but have made it clear that with my travel I just do what I feel comfortable with. I remember your trips are a bit back to back and there's not much flexibility?

Mitchell2 · 06/01/2014 22:29

You can reason they won't have fitted for long.... Stupid iPhone.
