Glad it's not just me mum! I was determined to get past my birthday meal on 14th, my birthday on 16th and DP's work's xmas do on 19th (as he would've been too drunk to drive to the hospital!) without going into labour... So all that's left is Christmas and then the little one can turn up whenever he wants Grin

If the BHs start up again, maybe phone and tell a few little white lies so that they don't fob you off - make things sound a bit worse than they actually are to give them more of a sense of urgency!
If they tell you to go in then you can always say that things have died down a bit since you phoned Wink

Stom91 · 23/12/2013 21:22

Yup I'm 2 days over due so if she doesn't come tonight she can wait til after Boxing Day!! Lol. I have a sweep blocked for the 27th. I'm really nervous about are they horrid? I'm scared only cos (tmi) when having hanky panky and dp puts a finger in that hurts. So I can't imagine a sweep is going to be nicexz

Well I've woken up on my due date to cramps and pink discharge. I think I'm actually having mild contractions but not sure. Will have to see if it turns into anything-seems she may really want to be a Christmas baby. I'm sure her big brother isn't going to be too impressed Xmas Shock

Dusty04 · 24/12/2013 09:48

better me too!! It's not my due date until Boxing Day but after zero signs I've woken up with pink streaked discharged and cramps across the bottom of my bump..

Please stay in there until at least Boxing Day little one!!

Stom91 · 24/12/2013 10:26

Good luck better and dusty
I've woken up to that clear sticky jelly stuff and periody pains... Baby can wait til at least after my Xmas dinner!!

lisb I've been there! It's exhausting all the tickling and blowing on their face and so tempting to stop when they are sleeping and all you want is to sleep too.

I've stuck with the bf for 24hrs now but had to top up all 3 night feeds. It's hard adjusting to the no sleep again, with a bottle it was up for an hour then asleep for 2, last night was more the other way round.

HV just came and overwhelmed me with info, like I need to get a photo done fir my red book? Really? Also said that ds should nit sleep on a sheepskin, is that true? It's the only thing get will sleep on set the moment, I move it between pram and cot!

MollySJ · 24/12/2013 12:06

Hat reason did she give for not sleeping on the sheepskin? Sounds crazy to me but then again I'm not HVs' biggest fan......

MollySJ · 24/12/2013 12:06

What

mumoftwoboysS · 24/12/2013 12:11

Yeah its I'm obviously not enough of a drama queen and need to scream and moan down the phone in pain for them to take me seriously!

stom I think sweeps can range from uncomfortable to painful (tho I've never had one) but think of it as a necessary evil to avoid artificial induction. And I guess it will only last a few moments.

Saw mw this morning and she offered me a sweep but I declined (I'm 40+2) as I want to avoid an Xmas day baby if possible! She doesn't know if my hospital will allow me to go there for a sweep later this week, otherwise I have to wait till NYE to see her. Hopefully things will happen naturally before then.

better and dusty hope your babies stay put till 26th! I was getting loads of BH etc but it seems to have died down a bit now Hmm

hotcross photo for your red book?? Bollocks. I have one for each of my DC's and no photo and the Hv never mentioned if. Doesn't sound like a priority for you right now either! Not sure re sheepskin. Not surprised baby wants to sleep on it, so snuggly. I know they're supposed to be good at keeping baby warm in winter and cool in summer so don't see how overheating is a problem unless it's more that they might get some bits in their mouth?

Alyssa1978 · 24/12/2013 14:48

hot I've never got a picture for any of my red books and sheepskins are only a risk factor once baby starts to roll onto the stomach, which is when they should be removed from the cot.
Xx

Well we're back in hospital as despite the feeding marathon Hannah was stuck on an 11% weight loss this morning and she is still slightly jaundiced.

We did top up in the night as she was horribly unsettled and have topped up again since which has hopefully had an impact as she was 30g heavier in hospital than at home!

The midwives and paediatrician that we've seen have all said we're doing the right thing and they don't think we'll need to be admitted, so fingers crossed the blood test says the same. Was a bit of a quivering wreck watching them squeeze blood out of a needle in her tiny hand, but Hannah was incredibly brave and seems to have forgotten about it already!

Can't believe the nonsense about a picture in the red book being a priority - some of these midwives and HV's are nutters!!

BetterWithCranberryWensleydale · 24/12/2013 19:57

Are you hanging in there Dusty? I've been having pink discharge all day. I thought my waters may have gone but i don't think so. Losing lots more pink mucous now. No contractions since this morning though despite making a mad dash around town for last minute presents.

Hope your DD's test comes back ok lis.

hotcross I didn't have picture for red book for DS - how strange. No idea about the sheepskin either Confused.

Just popping back in to say Merry Christmas.

Gabriel is now approaching three weeks old. I've had three re admissions since he was born so we are now on our record fourth night in a row outside of hospital. Let's hope it lasts!

Good luck to all you ladies still cooking.
