oh mum the dodgy bowels is the worst. happy due date :) I hope for you he/she comes soon as well. can't wait to hear if it's boy or girl

Mogz · 22/12/2013 16:17

Hope everyone's doing alright and not getting too fed up with babies still in residence! Sorry I've been AWOL, the infection I got back back with renewed gusto and has knocked me for six, the docs want me to start a new course fo antibiotics tomorrow but I'm going to quiz them six ways to Sunday first about whether they're safe to take whilst I'm feeding Genevieve (still expressing).
DH is being a star with feeds and nappies and cooking and cleaning, I want o sing his praises...BUT he is also massively getting on my nerves too. It's because I'm tired, worn down and no used to having him about so much I guess.
Anyone got a cure for baby hiccups?

lisbapalea · 22/12/2013 16:18

Sorry for those of you still waiting - I really do feel for you and hope the twinges and contractions start very soon!

I am feeling a bit low after an unsuccessful midwife appt this morning. After a great result at the 3day check on Friday, Hannah has now lost 11% of her birth weight and is slightly jaundiced. I am now on a feeding mission - certainly no problem with supply as my boobs pretty much pour milk, but their size and firmness means Hannah wears herself out trying to latch and doesn't get a satisfying feed. So am basically now shoving a boob in her mouth the moment she opens her eyes!

We're being checked again on Tuesday and if she's not gaining weight then I am definitely going to introduce formula for at least some of her feeds.

Feel a bit gutted as things seemed to be going so well, and so differently from my experience with DD and yet we appear to be in the same position after all despite the good start.

On the plus side I had my c/s stitch out and am apparently healing well - she said I should be able to drive in 2-3 weeks which is great as I live in the middle of nowhere so will need independence!

Hey all for those not on Facebook Tabitha Florence born yesterday at 18:12 weight 8lb 9oz. Just on gas and air as couldn't tell how dilated cervix was and second stage progressed quick!!! No tears just grazes which hurt like hell!! If I can give any overdue ladies one piece of advice - my sweep was on Friday morning, and yesterday morning me and Dp 'did the deed' by 11am I was having regular contractions!! So if u can face it, prop your bums up a bit afterwards and let the sperm work it's magic!!! Still in hospital as awaiting babies blood results cause I'm o rhesus negative. Also not quite latching on right so getting some help. Xx

Mogz · 22/12/2013 18:13

lis have you tried expressing by hand for a few minutes before you feed? It might make it easier for her to get more milk. Your midwife should be able to show you how to. Good luck with it, hopefully the jaundice will clear up quickly once you get the extra fluids in her.

Congratulations Mumma, what a gorgeous name.

mumoftwoboysS · 22/12/2013 19:28

Many congrats mumma! Ooh maybe I should try dtd just not sure I can face it- sure it's just going to be painful and uncomfortable..but I do want baby out!!...

mumoftwoboysS · 22/12/2013 19:35

rose sympathise - I've been having the same - contractions starting -ESP in te evenings then they tail off when I go to sleep. They're starting again tonight...

MrsShrubs · 22/12/2013 19:36

lisb have you tried nipple shields?? My littley went on breast feeding strike with me so we started expressing, midwife suggested nipple shields and now he's back on the boob, the extra length of them compared to nipple has really helped us.

Congratulations to the new mums!!

Stom91 · 22/12/2013 19:51

Me and dp dtd earlier and I've had some seriously spicey burgers .. If that doesn't get dd out then nothing will.

Well I thought it was kicking off last night, constant mucous, loads of BH then waves of mild contractions through the night but then stopped this morning. I've had the odd contraction today but mostly nothing. Very frustrating. No way we're dtd, DH is dying of man-flu.

extracrunchy · 22/12/2013 22:56

Hi all! Belated congrats to Kchapper, and Mummy, Yoga and Mumma too! Busy weekend Smile

To those still waiting and fed up - thinking of you and crossing fingers!

Rough details for Bess's birth were vigorous and apparently very effective sweep at around 1pm, contractions started 8pm, hospital at 4cm around midnight. Was told to try and get some rest between contractions, but at 2mins apart from around 2am till 5am that was pretty much impossible! So had Meptid at 5am (still only 5cm), slept a bit, waters went about 9am (I think! All a bit of a blur!), jumped in the pool and Bess was born in water a bit later. The water was amazing - she was so calm when she came out and still is!

Have quite a few stitches (9 1/2lb baby will do that..!) but otherwise all good. She's feeding well and DS loves her Smile

Alyssa1978 · 22/12/2013 23:10

mumoftwoboysS · 23/12/2013 04:38

Well I'm not sure what's going on- was having contractions 10ish minutes apart from 3.30am then had one that was really painful had to get out of bed and it seemed to go on forever with sciatica pain shooting down my leg. Really should go back to sleep but hoping it's the start of something...
extra sounds like a lovely birth despite the stiches! Hoping I get a water birth too- we'll see!

mumoftwoboysS · 23/12/2013 09:22

Congratulations snow that does sound stressful and hard for you having to assert yourself regarding giving baby your milk- I didn't realise they weren't so pro bf over there- good on you for doing what you thought was best as it's easy to do as they say when you're in a situation like that thinking you have no options. Hopefully now you can enjoy time with baby at home relaxed and a bit more refreshed!

Well contractions stopped at 6am - argh!! So pissed off as was really hopeful. Sigh... I really really dont want an Xmas day baby but it's getting dangerously close now. My main worry is I'll end up in hospital on Xmas day and miss seeing my boys open their pressies- sob!! That CANT happen. Sad....

Stom91 · 23/12/2013 09:36

Woop ds has gained 300g! Jaundice clearing and he bfed this morning for first time since Friday (have been healing bleeding nipples, nice). I'm sure there are more struggles to come but feels like a big step forward. And mw says ok to feed on demand again so no need to wake a happy sleeping baby. So today is a good day.

Congrats to those with new babies and contracting vibes to others.

Can't remember who it was with jaundice? Having just been through it I would think hard about topping up, depending on how important bf us to you. I can see now I used ff too quickly and once it was in the house I fell back on it at every step. Now my milk production is down and I'm expressing constantly to try and recover it, and I've been very upset about maybe not being able yo bf, so the stress has made milk levels even worse. If you're happy with either outcome then go for it, nothing like a happy full baby, but it sounds like you have plenty of milk.

lisbapalea · 23/12/2013 15:56

Well done hotcross that's great news!

I have been feeding as much as possible since yesterday in the hope to shift the mild jaundice and to get some weight back on, so am really hoping we get a good outcome with the midwife tomorrow. Thankfully the feeding has had a great result on my boobs which are now less rock hard and easier for Hannah to get hold of. But some of her feeds have been very short, just 5-10mins, before she nods off, so I have been struggling with trying to wake a sleeping baby to keep this feeding marathon on track!

Older DD has also now got a suspected perforated eardrum and diarrhea, and the dog has conjunctivitis! So we're off out shortly to see the GP and the vet! Happy flipping Holidays!!

Any news from Rose or other babies in waiting? Thinking of you all!

mumoftwoboysS · 23/12/2013 17:13

So I'm getting loads of BH but nothing regular and they're not getting worse- when will I know if it's real? I'm worried if I wait till they're 5 mins apart it won't leave me enough time to get to the hospital (history of rapid labour progression) argh! Driving me nuts.

itsliz · 23/12/2013 20:20

mum is it worth calling the labour ward and explaining the situation, just to see what they say? At least then they'll know to expect to see you at some point soon!

Still feeling really weird, achy, queasy and out of sorts. Been to the loo 5 times in the last 24 hours too - I don't think it's a clear out, but who knows!

Pleeeeease baby, don't turn up at Christmas, don't turn up at Christmas, don't turn up at Christmas...

mumoftwoboysS · 23/12/2013 20:29

its well they've stopped now so I don't have to worry for now at least! I'm just worried they'll fob me off- last time a mw said oh you're not that advanced (my contractions were irregular and I was able to talk to her calmly) and I didn't make it so now I'm paranoid/terrified of it happening again.

I hear you- I'm thinking the same- please don't come on Xmas day!! I'm actually hoping baby is late now- 27th onwards is fine!....
