Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh thingy I'm knackered, with bad sciatica since 2 days ago and even worse heartburn. Only 36 weeks tomorrow so a bit envious that you're 2 weeks closer to a bit of relief from some of these symptoms!! Then again, flat about to go on the market so I want the viewings over with by the time we pop! Apparently 2 weeks should do it as the market moves so fast up here...!

C section semi booked in but no definite date - I'm convinced I'm going to go into labour before they do it (they are waiting until AT LEAST 39+2 and maybe as late as 39+6!!) - so am not relaxed at all, as I thought I would be after my consultant appointment. Hmph. (Me me me -- sorry!!)

fatasbutter · 17/01/2014 18:20

ted - how is Bruce?? Really don't feel you can't go if you're worried about dehydration - drs generally don't mind this at all as it's a valid concern, and also it's so tiring looking after them when they are sick so they can at the very least reassure you that they think he's ok (at a time when you feel so knackered!)

tedmundo · 17/01/2014 21:21

Thankyou for thinking of us. It has been a tough day. He really went downhill after lunchtime so when dh got back from work he whizzed him up to the surgery. Dr said we did the right thing and he is now on anti biotics. Poor lad. His eyes are like pissholes in the snow.

I really hope it means he starts getting better soon. This has been going on for weeks now.

Fatas and thingy .. I really hope these last few weeks are OK. Sciatica sounds foul though fatas. Can you take pain relief for that?

The only birth I have not had is a planned c section. My consultant was fascinated as I had covered pretty much all other scenarios. Induced then vaginal birth for ds1. Started naturally then ended in c section with ds2. Induced but ended with forceps for ds3.

Right, I'm off to find some chocolate.

Thingymajigs · 18/01/2014 05:32

Lots of sympathy fatas. Sciatica is awful. Since baby has lowered I can breathe a bit better and heartburn has eased off but the restless legs and pelvic issues have gotten worse. I occasionally get that shooting pain down my bum and leg which I think is a symptom of sciatica..? I can't imagine having to cope with that day in day out.
Our babies will be here soon though! So many people from the Feb antenatal thread are already posting pics of their tiny newborns. I can't wait to hold my baby boy now. And... I'm blubbing again. Silly hormones and lack of sleep. Blush
Aww, I hope Bruce picks up soon bless him. I remember ds2 getting chicken pox at 2 weeks of age and it made him so weak, you just feel helpless. Let us know how he's doing.
Oh what a surprise, I'm starving again. Time for a Biscuit .

Alexandra6 · 18/01/2014 05:33

How's he doing ted?

Yes please rant away when - makes me feel better when I moan and rant! Wink

S just slept for five hours straight wooop! After a few truly shocking days of tears and screaming during the day and bad nights, that block of sleep was lovely. Going to hopefully get a couple more hours in too. She's doing a weird choking sound and pulling a face like she has a bad taste in her mouth, she does that a lot, wonder if it's the reflux. Am still really hoping her tummy calms down by 12 weeks, I really want to avoid medication.

Alexandra6 · 18/01/2014 05:37

Morning thingy you're up too! Enjoy that Biscuit I'm trying to do dairy free for a few days to see if it helps S and yesterday I found some delicious dairy free lemon cookies and a tasty cashew nuts and date bar to replace chocolate, was really pleased - it's the little things these days!!

Alexandra6 · 18/01/2014 05:38

Oh and sorry you have heartburn, I've never had it but apparently it's like reflux I think so what poor little S seems to suffer with.

Thingymajigs · 18/01/2014 05:45

Morning! That just shoes how much we care as mothers. We give up alcohol and all sorts during pregnancy and then you even give up chocolate during breastfeeding to help her. That is dedication. Smile
I've never had issues with heartburn before this pregnancy either but for the last few months I've had to swig from a Gaviscon bottle. Incidentally I found that chocolate and sweet treats including acidic fruits make the heartburn worse so I don't know if that transfers through breast milk too. It does make you wonder how these tiny babies cope with that discomfort. Fingers crossed that she's over the worst now her tummy is developing. And that's great news about the sleep, I bet you feel so much better.

kittykatsforever · 18/01/2014 07:15

Hello ladies was so lovely reading all your posts although hugs to those of you suffering!
I've been on Holliday for 10 days and home last night , no internet connection all that time so missed my mumsnet feed Confused
Happy birthday for last week twinkle, it was mine 2 days ago and I was 35 too Shock we seem to have a very January bus! Lovely hearing your up day and can't believe it's only 15 days til your scan!! Your pregnancy definatly went quicker then mine too Wink
Sorry to hear a lot of poorly babies around, hope they all recover soon! When I found my dd the same, it has gotten easier but I still have arrr days and love her Friday nursery day aswel, it definatly doesn't make you a bad mum!
Fatas that does seem a late date, what did your first arrive at?
Red how old is Eva now? I was told off by hv for expressing too much in the second week as it causes more production so your body makes more, she told me to try just to take the edge off rather then empty although I don't think it caused any problems for me personally,
Wee you are anazing coping without even a few minutes respite from dh, how long is he away for?
Thingy restless legs sound unpleasant but not long!!!!
Ted even in your sad poorly posts you've made me lol you paint such a good picture

RedRobin1 · 18/01/2014 09:04

Thingy and fatas you have my sympathies with the sciatica pain. I had it on and off through third trimester and it was agony!

Thingy when is your due date? Hopefully not long now till you get to meet him! Lovely to have the name picked too makes it more excitingSmile

ted hope Bruce gets better soon with the antibiotics. It's awful watching them suffer and not being able to help.

kitty hope you had a lovely holiday! I keep dreaming off a pool and sunbed! Thinking of booking one when dd (love typing dd) is 8/9months. She's 2 weeks old now! Time goes quick doesn't it. My HV told me off for expressing too. But I find she feeds better if I express a little before feeds as I have a fast let down and she chokes while latching on and that, I believe, IS the cause of our latching problems. She latches on so easy after I express a bit and give her the boob. Hopefully everything will settle down in a few weeks.

Did you guys suffer from back aches after birth? My lower back aches badly if I try do too much. Wonder if it's a c section thing or vaginal birth also? I have a poor spine even pre pregnancy so maybe it will take longer to get in shape. It's just frustrating.

RedRobin1 · 18/01/2014 09:06

alex yay for the 5hr block of sleep! That's fantastic! Hopefully the dairy cut back will help her too...it's amazing the things we do for our little ones.

Anyway I stink of milk and poop - will try and get a shower while she sleeps!

OP posts:
kittykatsforever · 18/01/2014 09:37

Yes red with dd1 I had to express when milk came in as she couldn't get on, best do what works for you!
Go on holl before they are too old though, easiest to take little ones who sleep a lot so you can still read and lie down abit!
Was nice getting winter sun though Grin

Thingymajigs · 18/01/2014 10:03

Hope you had a nice holiday kitty.
I'm due on the 3rd but fully expect to go over. It's weird because I'm desperate to meet him and get my body back but I'll be sad to see the bump go as this will be my last pregnancy. I'm being busy this weekend going for long walks to hopefully speed things up a bit and get the boys out for some exercise.
fatas, a few weeks ago the guidelines changed so that 37 weeks was no longer full term, its now 39 weeks. So they put off inductions and c-sections until then which is no good if you think you might go into labour early.
red, I've never had back problems after 2 vaginal births but I've heard of a connection between back pain and epidurals. I think that just lying down on your back with the weight of the bump for hours would cause problems though along with breastfeeding without enough arm support maybe.

tedmundo · 18/01/2014 10:08

Will post more later but YES YES to what kitty saysred .. Go on holiday while they are small and they nap in the buggy in the shade while you lie on a sun bed and read. We went to gran canaria in Oct when Bruce was 7 months. Best. Holiday. Ever. Big boys in pool in front of me, baby sleeps, happy times!

He is still so poorly. I gather it can take 2 days for anti bs to kick in. Thank god it is weekend so dh home.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 18/01/2014 14:45

Hi thanks for letting me rant. I think I expect a bit much from her she's not quite three and is just acting like a typical three year old they are all hard work

ted sorry the antibiotics haven't kicked in get - hopefully he will be feeling better by this evening

fatas and thingy best of luck with the last uncomfortable weeks if pregnancy. Won't be long now.

alex 5 hours is good, I really feel for you though. Dd cried all the time and its soooo hard. Even with a stinking cold ds is easier than she was on a good day.

kitty welcome back from holiday, it sounded great.

twinkle best of luck for the scan, hoping the first trimester symptoms stop soon.

Alexandra6 · 18/01/2014 14:58

It's so unfair isn't it when how some are easier than others! I love her to absolute bits but am scared to have another in case we have the same thing - crying, reflux issues etc.

I know what answer I want you to give, but does it really get easier?! I know you still have tough times but is there light at the end of the tunnel honestly or have I got a few years of drama ahead?!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 19/01/2014 11:40

Yes it gets easier alex she was a happy baby after 3 months when the colic stopped. You just had to keep her occupied, once she figured out how to sit up it was great she could entertain herself really well.
The bad thing is she has always been a crap sleeper, even at nearly three years she only sleeps through 50% of the time but still soooo much better than the newborn stage.

She can be a troubling monkey at this age too, has a fierce temper on her but I like to think it shows a strong character that will stand her in good stead when she's older. She spent all morning spinning in the kitchen and wobbling, laughing and falling over like a drunk.

fatasbutter · 19/01/2014 20:35

Ah yes, agree totally re going on holiday while they are tiny and can't crawl!! And while their diet is easy to cope with!

thingy how dare they change guidelines buggers and yet how typical! I didn't know that - who does those guidelines? I went into labour at 40+3 with my first, so I've no real reason (except cynicism and paranoia!) to think I'll be early apart from tons of BH every day and the fact that I'm totally overdoing things and can't seem to find time to rest! I just need to relax (in my mind I mean!) and accept that what will be will be...

tedmundo · 19/01/2014 21:02

It does get easier Alex. I feel so sorry for you that this has been such a tough start for you both. My niece was a truly dreadful baby, I remember my sister telling me she hated her. Her older sister was a doddle so sis felt she had ruined the good times. By 12 weeks she was fine and a more chilled out teen you could not meet. We all love her so much, despite her dreadful trout pout selfies on fb.

kittykatsforever · 20/01/2014 08:07

Ha ha got to love those teenage selfies! Thank goodness we didn't have mobile phones when we were that age!
Yes Alex it will get easier, my dd1 had terrible colic, I know we didn't have an evening meal together for around 3 months and the screams could go on for hours but as soon as she hit 3 months that was it and we had the most chilled baby, she also became the best sleeper of all my friends always having 13hrs a night straight! Plus my dd2 has had no problems so it is just unlucky if it happens, no guarentee it will strike again, I can't even really remember those days now as it was such a short time but I know while I lived them it seemed to be forever

twinklestar2 · 21/01/2014 23:32

Hello everyone i had my booking in appt today with midwife. Scan next week, just want everything to be ok! Taking the retching as a good sign though. My boobs feel less heavy and sore now, is that normal? They're still very veiny though but that could be the progesterone I'm on?

Does anyone hear from littlemisssnowshine anymore?

kittykatsforever · 22/01/2014 07:19

Yes all very normal winkle, symptoms will come and go the whole way through, 1 week to go, you must be so excited!!
We havnt heard from little miss for a while although she did post a pic to our secret fb group more recently then posting on here, think she's finding herself quite busy

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 22/01/2014 10:13

twinkle symtoms come and go, given that you are still retching I wouldn't worry about the boobs at all.

twinklestar2 · 22/01/2014 11:20

Thanks both, I just want next week to come quickly so I know that everything is ok.
