I mostly got money which I'm going to put towards maternity clothes :)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 12/01/2014 20:26

red it does get better. Use lansinol (sp) but your nipples will toughen up. Plus she will feed less soon. [honest]

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 12/01/2014 20:27

I love cash gifts for birthdays, have fun shopping.

tedmundo · 12/01/2014 21:13

Happy birthday for yesterday twinkle. Have fun shopping.

The only boobage I have ever had that was worth looking at was in pregnancy. They are tiny again now, sadly. DH tries not to care ha ha!

Bruce was baptised today and I didn't get struck by a bolt when I renounced Satan, so all in all, a good day.

BlearyeyedLol · 13/01/2014 00:37

Happy birthday twinks! It's me next week but I'm a tad older Confused

twinklestar2 · 13/01/2014 08:46

Hope you had a nice day at the baptism, ted.

does anyone remember having extremely saucy dreams in the first trimester?! Is it the hormones?

Alexandra6 · 13/01/2014 09:08

Hello! Happy belated bday twinkle and yes to those saucy dreams!

Congratulations red!!! Am so happy for you and lovely, lovely name Smile BF was bloody tough at the beginning for me and I don't know why HVs keep saying it shouldn't hurt as everyone says it does at first, I also had the major cluster feeding, but BF is so much better for me now as it suddenly stopped hurting a couple of weeks in, literally overnight.

How are you doing wee?

I've been struggling quite a bit, Sophia just kept on crying and the crying sessions were a nightmare, she seemed so distressed. Saw the GP who prescribed infant gaviscon but I hate giving her medicine so haven't given it much. Anyway I feel like a new woman today as we had such a good weekend with her - yes she cried, but we were able to soothe her after a while (boob/dummy/swing/walking around) and she just seemed much more settled generally. She slept lots - and last night slept for 6 hours straight! Amazing! She's only 5 weeks (7 weeks developmentally by due date) and I don't want to tempt fate, but am hoping this means at the very least we'll have good days and her reflux can't be that severe. So after some real low points, I'm feeling happier and more importantly, I'm hoping she's happier Smile

RedRobin1 · 13/01/2014 14:15

Lol twinkle yes to those saucy dreams. They actually seemed so real Wink

It does hurt initially alex and yes HVs keep saying it shouldn't but it does when she first latches on and then it stops when she starts suckling.

Eva gave us a good nights rest yesterday and like you alex I feel like a new woman on a good day.

Hope Sophia settles more and more and you don't need the gaviscon. Can't believe she's 5weeks already! Where has time flown xx

when I have nearly drained my tube of lansinoh! It's so relieving!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 13/01/2014 19:21

alex glad she seems more settled, hopefully it's just a newborn thing - I think almost all babies are more settled at 3 months. Nate is only just managing 6 hours and that's with me co sleeping

red glad you got a bit of rest. I wish the hv's would be more honest about breast feeding. They paint it as trouble free bliss then wonder why most women struggle with it. It gives me the rage, if they were honest breast feeding rates would probably go up.

Alexandra6 · 13/01/2014 21:06

Couldn't agree more on that when!

weechops · 14/01/2014 17:29

Happy belated birthday winkle :)

I'm so tiiiiirrrrrrreeeeedddd!!!!! The baby likes to torture me by pretending to go to sleep after nighttime feed, but really he waits til I put him down and he opens his eyes again, and repeat and repeat!

It's only been 3 days since dh went back offshore and I'm done in! But I did manage to catnap this morning after nursery run which helped. It's lucky he's so cute :)

tedmundo · 16/01/2014 09:42

Morning all. Any news on those about to pop?

wee .. I feel for you. Bruce has become the worst type of Velcro baby. He cries as soon as I put him down. And to make it worse, he now knows to lift his arms up to me to signal 'up' and it is irresistible! Trying to cook has become a complete stress and I am at the end if my tether with him. On top of that, ds2 and now ds1 have tonsillitis. And I have woken up today's with a decidedly sore throat.

Sob.

winkle how is your sickness and tiredness today? When do you next get a scan?

tedmundo · 16/01/2014 09:46

alex .. delighted to hear you may have turned a corner with Sophia. I truly hope this is the start of her settling for you. The relentless crying can start to make you go a bit scatty.

Hmm, there is my total 10 mins of break from Bruce. He has played in the playpen while I slurped a cup of tea and caught up on here. Back to it....

Alexandra6 · 16/01/2014 10:29

No we're back to square one here I'm afraid ted! Had three amazing days and I tried not to be bitter that some people have days like that all the time! but now she's really windy/colicky/refluxy/crying again. Total of four hours sleep broken up last night, if that, and haven't had a chance to make breakfast yet today Sad I'm still obsessing about what might help (baby massage, cutting out dairy again, expressing to give bottles with boob etc etc) - it's enough to drive you mad sometimes! Thank god for the happy moments in between like when she smiles her gorgeous little smile at me or has a good afternoon nap!

Hope I'm not scaring the pregnant people! Apparently some babies are easier which doesn't make me feel any better!

RedRobin1 · 16/01/2014 13:15

I'll join the crying baby club. Eva doesn't seem to settle unless DH is holding and cuddling her to sleep. She's totally a daddy's girl which makes me very nervous about what I will do when he goes back to work Hmm

She still just prefers one boob and struggles to latch on and breastfeeding always seems like a battleground. I end up crying and giving her to DH or just have a frustrated hungry baby on hand. She doesn't like the bottle of expressed milk either and seems to choke on the level 1 teat. We keep persisting and I have one boob over compensating with demand than the other :(

There are times when I want the newborn phase to be over already but then I see her smile in her sleep and everything seems worth it.

ted it can't be easy for you either - hope ds's tonsillitis gets better and he recovers soon!

alex hopefully the colicky reflux phase ends soon for Sophia - it must be so hard i can't begin to imagine.

twinkle how are you doing love? Have you got another scan soon or is it the 12weeks one next? How far along are you now?

OP posts:
Alexandra6 · 16/01/2014 13:29

Ah red sympathy from me! Totally get that wanting the newborn phase to be over feeling, but then loving parts of it.

How much is she crying? I'm still trying to gauge what's just normal and what's really excessive!

S has finally fallen asleep after a rough morning of crying/screaming - I desperately need a nap but am too scared to move her and go up to bed in case she wakes up!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 16/01/2014 22:04

Aww hugs to red alex and ted the newborn phase is soooo hard but there are lots if good points.

Ted dd is still Velcro like and she's almost 3, it drives me insane. I'm a confident person but quite introverted at heart, if I don't get a bit of alone time I get seriously cranky.

She never leaves me alone I love her to bits but I secretly love love love Fridays when she goes to nursery. Makes me feel like such a shit mum but all I get is either "do a story of Melody / Eva / Piggly" and I have to spend hours making up pretend stories for her, reading a story won't cut it. Or she's in definant toddler mode.
She plays up, no dd if you do that again you will be put on the naughty step. So she looks me in the eye and does it again. So it's to the step with her, cue screaming hissy fit. And repeat for eight hours.
She won't even watch 5 minutes of tv without me being sat next to her. It's like having a small demanding shadow tripping you up every 5 minutes.

Sorry for the rant, had no sleep last night and the kids are getting to me a bit.

On a more positive note I've lost a bit of weight - started a diet and gone down from 11 stone 11 pre Xmas to 11 stone 6. Still far too heavy but it's a start.

twinklestar2 · 16/01/2014 22:55

Hey girls sorry to hear babies are being hard work!

I'm ok, thanks for asking :) I tend to have a good day and then a bad day but it seems to have subsided over the past couple of days - although ask me tomorrow and I may say different!! Scan is in 15 days :D Booking in appointment is next Tuesday. I'm 10+4 today :)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 17/01/2014 10:30

Ooh scan soon for twinkle. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Sorry for yesterdays rant, bit tired so things were getting to me.

tedmundo · 17/01/2014 11:13

Rant away when. It can be cathartic. Bruce asleep in my arms. He keeps being sick. I can't handle much more illness. Thankfully the big ones are at school today.

twink the booking in makes it all so real. Very exciting!

Thingymajigs · 17/01/2014 11:37

Your pregnancy seems to be going fast twinkle. I'm sure my first trimester dragged on for 6 months. Bet you are so excited for the next scan. I'm excited for you tbh. Smile
I can join all of you with in the sleep deprivation club, although my nipples are fine. Grin I have had awful insomnia this pregnancy caused by restless legs syndrome which makes me legs and calves spasm at night when I'm pregnant. But the finish line is in sight. Baby's room is all done in a woodland theme, name is picked and we are just waiting now. 38 weeks on Monday so I'm not quite holding my breath yet but its not far away. I can't wait to join the rest of you with newborn snuggles and to have a reason to be sleep deprived.
Getting sharp pains on my cervix (is that effacement? ), strong BH's but nothing to suspect an early arrival. How are you doing fatas?

Thingymajigs · 17/01/2014 11:40

Well done on the weight loss when. I'm hoping to get straight on with losing this weight once baby is born too. haha, as if that'll happen
Hope little Bruce feels better soon ted.

tedmundo · 17/01/2014 11:45

He's in a bad way this morning. I can't go back to the dr. I have been 3 times in the past 2 weeks. He is going to think I have a crush on him! which I do ha ha

Thingymajigs · 17/01/2014 11:53

Aww bless him. Is he holding much down at all? I wouldn't hesitate to take him if he might be dehydrated. Even if your dr does contemplate a restraining order. Grin
