First day back at work and feeling so nauseous at my desk! Retchtastic!!

weechops · 06/01/2014 20:37

Twinkle woohoo for the retching! :) never thought I'd say that to someone ha!

Well little ds is now 3 weeks old and just lovely. Dh goes back to work offshore on Thursday eek! Back to 2 on 2 off which is fine usually but I'm panicking slightly just now!

Up til now I haven't had to be anywhere on time with all 3 in tow, so bit nervous for school/nursery runs and general getting stuff done! Sure, it'll be fine :)

tedmundo · 06/01/2014 21:06

Oh winkle my heart goes out to you. The retching is the utter pits. You are younger than me so hopefully your pelvic floor is withstanding the pressure better than mine did!

Had a car prang today. My passenger opened up her door into an oncoming car. Had 5 kids with us. Crappy end to a happy holiday. Boys back to school tomorrow leaving me to talk to the insurers. Oh joy.

twinklestar2 · 06/01/2014 21:15

Wee - I remember your OH always going offshore!

Argh bad luck on the car, ted.

Thanks girls. Today is the worst I've felt all pregnancy. But that's probably cause I'm out of my little bubble at home and exposed to all sorts of smells and normal life! Not complaining though Grin

fatasbutter · 07/01/2014 17:22

Oh poor you red - I am so confused about what to go for and that doesn't sound too pleasant but if anything else goes wrong down below, a lifetime of problems there could potentially be worse so it is hard to decide....

Woohoo for feeling awful winkle! Long(ish) may it continue! Iykwim!! I am so happy for youGrin

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 07/01/2014 18:35

winkle kind of glad you are feeling awful, it sucks but lets you know everything is fine. Any day now you will suddenly feel a bit better and it will panic you then you'll feel shit again so you will know it is all still ok

ted bad luck with the prang, hope it gets sorted quickly and easily.

wee I'm sure you'll be fine after the initial "oh shit I'm on my own" best of luck.

twinklestar2 · 08/01/2014 20:58

Does anyone remember the terrible wind in early pregnancy? Blush

Thingymajigs · 08/01/2014 22:22

yes, I do. Grin In fact it only gets worse because the pressure prevents you from holding it in as well. So glad you're having symptoms even though they aren't the best. The first trimester dragged so much for me because I never had any symptoms at all.
How are you doing red? Is she feeding ok?
I had a 36 week check yesterday and everything is looking good. Baby is head down, not engaged and probably won't until labour. MW has confidently predicted a 7lb 3oz baby. My babies are getting progressively smaller which is a relief after my first.
Have you had your 34 week check fatas?
I've been feeling this weird bubbling sensation on or around my cervix today. Feels like baby is blowing bubbles there but obviously isn't. Weird. Confused

BlearyeyedLol · 09/01/2014 01:32

Me too on the farting front I'm afraid and it only got worse!!!!GrinGrin

fatasbutter · 09/01/2014 10:43

Ha ha! Yes I've been windy all the way! And worse with heartburn and burping etc as well! I'm just full of gas!!

thingy - had to cancel mw appointment as had to be at our old house to supervise the removals but have appointment with consultant next week to discuss c section. After a lot of thought and discussion with both people who have had them for similar reasons, as well as a few GPs, I have decided I will probably go for a c section- I realise it's not the easy or painless option, but the thought of problems later on if I had further damage down below is too scary! It's all too unpredictable! I just have to hope there are no complications during the operation!

How is everyone else doing?

RedRobin1 · 09/01/2014 14:01

thingy I'm doing okay. The recovery is harder than I expected :( just want to get back to normal but it's taking time.

Feeding is going okay. She seems to be ravenous at night and not feed much in the day. I end up very engorged in the day so have stated expressing. She has taken the bottle well and latching issues are now sorted. Just want to get into a routine with expressing.

Quick question - I can express good quantities - upto 90ml (3oz) from one boob. I store the breast milk in the fridge and prepare the 90ml bottle at room temp by warming in jug of hot water. Can I leave it out for 3-4 hours and offer it to her again if she doesn't drink all of it the first time?

It must feel good to make a decision on the c -section fatas. You can have so much more control now. Good luck with the house move, get everyone else to do the hardwork.and bark orders. Grin
How long does it usually take to feel normal after a c-section red? I guess much longer than the few days you've had. After I had ds1 which was a normal vaginal delivery (if a bit big) I was useless for weeks and could barely walk. So I imagine a section must take much longer than a normal birth to recover from so be good to yourself. Wish I could help with the milk question but I'm rusty in that area. I've forgotten all the little details after 10 years.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 09/01/2014 19:55

Hi red sorry it's taking a while for you to recover.

I've just checked my bf notes from HV

safe storage of breast milk in the home

Room. 6 hours
fridge.(5 to 10 deg). 3 days
Fridge (0 to 4 deg). 8 days
Freezer -18 or lower. 6 months

I wouldn't have thought it would still be ok after 6 hours at room temp, glad I looked it up.

twinkle yes bad gas in pregnancy, when pregnant it was just burping but the week after the birth was filled with me farting constantly Blush

fatas glad you made a decision on the c section front, I agree not worth the risk of long term damage.

twinklestar2 · 09/01/2014 22:01

Look after yourself, red, and take it easy x

Fatas - good news re c-section. I'm starting to read about labour and I'm shitting myself!

tedmundo · 09/01/2014 22:21

twinks .. I was shitting myself before the labour and, rather embarrassingly, at the labour.

Such glamour!

twinklestar2 · 09/01/2014 22:53

Pregnancy is not glamorous is it?!

twinklestar2 · 10/01/2014 14:35

Soooooo tired! Is it home time yet?!

tedmundo · 10/01/2014 19:02

Poor you twinkle. I remember crawling up to bed on my hands and knees after getting in from work one night.

I am nervous about returning to work when Bruce gets to school . I will have been at home for eleven years! Maybe the job market will be in better shape by then .

I hope you are home.and relaxing by now. Only a few more weeks until the easy middle bit. Not sick anymore and not too huge yet. Good times!!

RedRobin1 · 11/01/2014 05:26

Awww twinkle that first trimester tiredness is like a foggy cloud! I remember spending that time in bed or the toilet mostly! Hopefully not long till you are in the second trimester comfort zone Smile

Eva seems to be a little night owl and likes to cluster feed at night :( she feeds for hours! I hope this phase doesn't last long and she settles more at night.

It is surprising how long babies breastfeed for isn't it? I hadn't realised that one feed could take an hour or two of my time before I tried. This is where co-sleeping came into its own. After a short while I could feed ds2 without waking up properly. It's not for everyone though and you have to be careful but it worked beautifully for us. We are going to see how this baby sleeps first before we invest in a co-sleeper cot but I imagine we'll end up hiring the NCT bednest within a few days of the birth tbh.
Hope you managed to get lots of sleep twinkle. That first trimester tiredness is overwhelming. I unfortunately went from that straight to pregnancy insomnia and restless legs but its all good practice for when baby arrives (so everyone reminds me daily).

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 11/01/2014 14:19

Poor you twinkle first trimester exhaustion is just awful. I felt so tired I wanted to cry.

thingy I co sleep with ds. It's great and there is no way I could cope with a toddler and a newborn with out co sleeping.

twinklestar2 · 11/01/2014 20:07

It's my 35th birthday today :)

OH and I allowed ourselves to look in mothercare as a birthday treat Grin

How much should we spend on a buggy? Any ideas?! Is £600 loads?

My tits are massive by the way!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 12/01/2014 08:50

Lol at my tits are massive.

No idea about buggies. Dd was stupidly clingy as a baby and wasn't happy in a buggy. We ended up buying a cheap (£65) graco one. We still took it out with us but used it more to cart around the nappy bag and other toddler crap you need.

Happy birthday twinkle hope you are having Cake today

Thingymajigs · 12/01/2014 09:31

Happy birthday twinkle. Did you get anything nice?
You can spend whatever you want on pushchairs or nothing if you just want to use a sling. We ended up buying a baby jogger city mini for £240 because we didn't want to spend too much and we wanted one that would last from birth to 3 years. A lot of expensive pushchairs/prams are so bulky that you end up replacing them with buggies after 8 months. The choice is massive so it helps to write a list of things you definitely need from the pushchair (i.e; big shopping basket, travel system compatible, easy to fold, tall handle height, looks flippin' awesome) and work around that.

RedRobin1 · 12/01/2014 11:42

Happy Birthday twinkle hope you have a special one this year!

We did splurge on a pram (£700) as we had most baby stuff (Moses basket, crib, etc) borrowed from generous friends and family. We ended up getting the Stokke Xplory. The criteria we had for selecting was easy to fold, manoeuvre and be able to fit in the boot of my car! This was the only one that fit all 3.

when and thingy would love to try co-sleeping but the c section prevents me from lying on my side and I'm only able to lie on my back. Dd fed all night and my boobs are sore :'( having a tough time getting used to cluster feeding. She just wants to be on the boob all night long. Please tell me this gets better in a few weeks! Is she going through a growth spurt already?!
