We've already picked our boys name about 10 years ago Xmas Blush

RedRobin1 · 01/01/2014 13:33

when we have two or three names picked for boys and we are not sure we love either of them! Find it impossible to pick a boys name we like.....

I had picked a name for a girl in the first trimester itself! It was so easy! Whereas boys is a complete nightmare. Oh well!!! Not long till we find out which one we get to use Smile

I'm happy we will be having a 2014 baby now SmileSmileSmileSmile can't wait till the little one makes an appearance. This week is going to go slow slow slow! Feels like the first trimester all over again - minus the nausea and sickness!

How you doing twinkle? More dry retching?

thingy how you keeping? Not log for you either.

I was actually contemplating requesting an early induction (hospital policy is 40+12)! I will go spare if this baby doesn't appear by then!

Twinks are you finding out the sex?
Happy new year everyone Grin

weechops · 01/01/2014 17:37

Happy new year everyone! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and new year. My wee guy is now 2 weeks old and it feels like he's always been here. Thingy and red not long now! :)

twinklestar2 · 01/01/2014 18:10

Lol - nope, gonna keep the sex a surprise!

I'm sooooooooo tired today, have spent most of the day sleeping in the sofa and could easily sleep more! I'm 8+3, got aaaaages yet! Told OHs best mates last night, couldn't help ourselves!

Thingymajigs · 01/01/2014 19:41

That first trimester tiredness really takes it out of you. Make sure you get lots of rest and your OH does lots for you.
Can you ask for an early induction red? I know I managed to get a slightly early induction with ds1 but that was related to mild blood pressure changes and they left it up to me. Could be any day for you now. Smile
I can't believe he's two weeks already wee. Has he put on much weight? I'm so jealous of all the baby cuddles. Looks like ds3 will arrive just in time because my 10 yo has decided he doesn't like cuddling up much anymore.
I'm hoping the pressure and strong BH mean I won't go over my due date but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm actually a little concerned that he's trying to turn around right now. Stay still baby!

weechops · 01/01/2014 22:46

Thingy - he's a total milk monster! Health visitor weighed him yesterday and he's now 9lb 8oz! That's nearly a lb a week he's put on! Just waiting for him to wake up now for last feed about 11 then he usually sleeps for about 4 hours. Up for a feed and back down for 3 hours. I can cope with that :) and plenty of coffee and red bull during the day :)

fatasbutter · 02/01/2014 06:13

Happy new year all! WineThanks

Glad to hear you're almost there red! Not long to go at all!! I'm so jealous - have had LOADS of BH and exhausted, heartburn central, back pain and lots of pressure in pelvic area - and I'm only 33+5! Cannot believe how much longer this is going to go on for! Grin but then again am not ready for the arrival either, so can hopefully distract self with preparations now that Christmas is finished...

wee - 2 weeks already?! Lovely to hear the new arrival is settling in!

thingy how many weeks are you now? I think I'm only a couple behind you aren't I? Hope you are more prepared than me!! Wink

Thingymajigs · 02/01/2014 09:21

Now that sounds like an ideal baby wee. I'd like to order one just like yours along with your quick labour. 2lbs is loads for rwo weeks. Well done baby chops. Smile
I'm at 35+2 weeks fatas so we are due close together. You could easily have your baby before me. We are nearly prepared actually. We were given loads of baby clothes and other baby items so it was just a case of buying car seat, pushchair, cloth nappies and acquiring stuff for the nursery which is nearly done. We are going to put up some shelves in there today and sort it out so it's all ready even though he won't be using it for months yet. I need to pack a hospital bag at some point and fit the car seat base but that's it really. It's probably best not to rush the preparations because I'm going to be left twiddling my thumbs for 5-7 weeks now. What have you got left to do?

fatasbutter · 02/01/2014 09:54

Hmm let me see... Mainly it is the buying of a house and selling of a poky flat!! Think we can manage that in 6 weeks?!! Shock
But otherwise there's no room for nursery etc in flat so it's just buying a new Moses basket mattress and packing a bag for hospital really!

Thingymajigs · 02/01/2014 14:55

That is all that your baby needs. Before we found this new house in October we were planning on staying at our old place for a couple of years. So our baby's list included: co-sleeper cot, car seat, nappies, baby clothes and a hanging rail for his clothes. I wish I'd stuck to that when we moved because my bank balance has suffered massively.
Good luck with the property sale. Hopefully it won't take long but I won't envy you trying to move with a new baby or whilst heavily pregnant. At least you could get out of the heavy lifting though.

BlearyeyedLol · 02/01/2014 17:16

Omg I can't believe fatas and wee are almost ready to pop!!! Other people's pregnancy does go a lot faster than our own!!

RedRobin1 · 03/01/2014 20:54

Some news from me......

Went into labour at 4.30am this morning, got to hospital at 9am as started bleeding during contractions and midwife wanted to monitor baby. Turned out I was already 8cm dilated and was bleeding because of speedy labour forcing cervix to dilate too quick.

Waters didn't break so had to be broken and that's when they discovered baby was breech! So got rushed in to theatre for emergency c section. All went well and the team were brilliant. My little girl was born at 12.45pm

I am now holding my little girl Eva and am totally besotted with her. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me and I am the happiest I have ever felt.

She was 6lb 9oz and has lots of hair. We are struggling with breast feeding and stumbling along as we both learn. She seems to fall asleep while feeding and I don't have any colostrum or milk coming out. Little worried that she hasn't fed much in the last 8 hours or so. Any tips?
Feel sore from surgery but I am just over the moon to care about the pain. Smile

Thingymajigs · 03/01/2014 21:06

Oh, yay!! Congratulations! I've been wondering how you are today but didn't want to ask incase you were fed up of waiting. That is a beautiful name and I'm so happy for you. Smile Smile
I can't believe they didn't realise she was breech before then. I thought she had been engaged for 8 weeks. Makes you wonder how much they can really tell just by touch alone.
I always thought you and alex were having girls... think of all those pretty clothes you can buy. Smile Aww, congrats again.

Ooh, this might mean I'm next. Confused

weechops · 03/01/2014 21:49

Wow congratulations red!!! So happy for you and what a beautiful name :) well done you! Xx

RedRobin1 · 03/01/2014 22:26

Yes I was equally shocked as she hasn't turned so she must have been breech since 32 weeks!

Our midwife was quite scatterbrained though! I'm just glad they detected it quick as I was getting the urge to push (shudder!!)

I'm so in awe of her. All that ttc pain and pregnancy discomforts were soooo worth it just to hold her in my arms today. I love her.

twinklestar2 · 03/01/2014 22:32

Oh red so so happyGrinGrinGrinGrin
And a girl!! take that mil Wink I said girl after you said that your hair had slowed down on your legs , see that old wives tail is true!!
Shocked with the breech, just goes to show! Eva is abeautiful name, yes pic please even if it's only up for a day for us Wink my dd1 was 6.10 with lots of hair Smile
With regards to bf if you want to please stick with it, they really need so little in the early days about a tea spoon and it will come out even if it doesn't feel like it, I could never see any come out of mine or hand express but I've ebf both of mine until 4 and 6 months it's such a good start to give her even if just for a few days! Your milk will come in with vengence soon enough! Both mine did loose quite abit in the first week, dd1 went below 6 so the hv re visited again before she could sign her off but after that they both gained 7/8 0z every week
Well done you! Great birth story

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 04/01/2014 14:06

red wow congrats on your little girl. I know an Eva, it's such a pretty name (the Eva I know is my age and is lovely).

Don't know what to suggest with the breast feeding but kitty is right they hardly need anything in the first few days. I breast feed both of mind and both times was in tears on day three as I felt like I was starving them.

I could never express unless I had a baby on one boob and a pump on the other. It's all about the release of hormones, even if your baby isn't feeding it might help you express some colostrum. Best of luck.

fatasbutter · 04/01/2014 20:04

Wow red! Congratulations!! Hope the pain is settling down? Eva is a beautiful name!
Did you have a general anaesthetic for the c section or just a spinal? I'm still undecided about having a c section so all information gratefully received re pain levels etc! (If that's not too cheeky while you're still in early days of bliss!!) Wink

tedmundo · 05/01/2014 14:18

congrats to red and mr red .. Eva is a stunning name and she sounds utterly divine.

thingy .. I tried to convince ds2 that tutu skirts are fine for boys in the middle of john lewis last week. He was having none of it. . I buy a LOT of girly stuff for my best friend (she adopted 3 girls!) to get my pink fix. Also had a chuckle at your oh sht moment that you are next! or wee* might pip you to it?

Due to issues at birth, ds1 and ds3 were cup fed formula at birth due to blood sugar imbalances. I also bf them in between. By day 4 milk came in and off we went. Just keep a tube of lanisoh handy and slap that on at every opportunity. I was not a particularly successful bfer but managed all 3 to a minimum of 8 weeks.

RedRobin1 · 05/01/2014 17:16

Hi fatas I had a spinal as it's much better than GA. You can stay awake with a spinal and they numb you from waist down. It wasn't a pleasant experience and recovery is taking long.

I was bed bound the first day and it was horrible not being able to pick her up when she cried and had to ring for midwives who were lovely with her.

Bf is so not easy! when I felt same as you yesterday that I was starving her. Last night was hard as she wanted to feed from 10.30pm to 5am with not many breaks in between. In fact I probably got a 15min break in all those hours. But I think her constant feeding has helped my milk come in today and she seems a lot more contented.

We are waiting to be discharged and go home. Can't wait! She is lovely although last night when I wasn't getting enough I felt so helpless and she just wouldn't settle.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 05/01/2014 23:28

That's great red I think if the baby feeds a lot it does help your milk come in faster. My midwife said babies always seem most ravenous the day before the milk appears - its like they can sense it's nearly there and are trying harder to get it.

ted is right about the lanisol, I wished I'd remembered from having dd that you need to use it. One nipple crusted over with a scab with ds. My own fault I know I need to use lanisol straight away or suffer the consequences.

ted getting all three to 8 weeks is good going, I was lucky with bf, the first week was hell both times so after that it seemed easy peasy.

Ds is sleeping soundly but I need to wake him to put a new nappy on, I'm a cruel mother.

thingy your next Grin
