11 wks pg and in agony with constipation. I am actually going to pop. I have drunk a whole bottle of prune juice (yuck), drunk loads of water and now onto dried fruit.
What can I do? My entire large intestine hurts I can feel it!!

Mango is good. Bit of exercise can help too.

Make a conscious effort to drink lots of water. Sounds obvious but it really made a difference for me.

Go and buy lactulose, it will be your friend now and after the birth.
It is a good laxative and I find that it creates less wind than dried fruit Xmas Blush

Yy to lactulose

AllabouttheE · 04/12/2013 18:54

Another vote for lactulose. Get to doctor. Aren't prescriptions free when pregnant?

I sympathise. I really suffered in pregnancy. It is so uncomfy and painful

Thanks. Will ring gp's in the morning. Have been practicing my DS's gymnastic routine (he has an exam next week) to help prod things along. Got the pint glass out for constant water drinking.
I struggled with it when pregnant with DS but not this bad. Oh the joys.

you will get a charge exemption card from the midwife, at 11 weeks OP have you got this yet because I think that I didnt get mine until past 12? it also entitles you to free dental too Xmas Grin

our chemist has a large bottle of lactulose for £6 something, you start with a big dose on day 1 and then 15ml a day to keep everything moving Xmas Blush

dunkedbiscuits · 04/12/2013 21:27

I've got the card thankfully.
