You other mothers can't deny,
When a girl walks in with an ever expanding waist
And a round thing in your face
You....'d better give her some cake....

etc, etc,

New thread! Enjoy!

baby has been wriggling in a really pushy way! I don't know if it's because I was painting and giving myself braxton hicks, but it's like it's trying to escape Grin

sunflowered · 28/12/2013 12:51

Think I might have had my first taste of braxton hicks this morning - like sudden trapped wind at the top of the bump? Or might just have been trapped wind...

Take it easy with your painting eeyore. If you were stretching upwards you might have been making more space for it to wriggle in?

I'm measuring back in calendar months from due date (so thought of myself as 7 months on 22 december) Can't wait until 22 Jan when I'll be enjoying my first day of maternity leave freedom Smile

laura0007 · 28/12/2013 15:29

Mine does that regularly eeyore! I think he's had enough in there now. I've just packed Leo's hospital bag, just mine to do now. It's starting to feel very real!

HarlemWobble · 28/12/2013 15:48

Hello preggos! Sounds like you all had lovely Christmases.

We're on the third and final leg of our Xmas road trip, currently catching up with FIL and DH's extended family. Looking forward to getting home tomorrow evening though and getting on with sorting out more of the house. We braved Ikea yesterday and picked up some more furniture plus ordered the furniture for the nursery. Can't wait for it to arrive next weekend!

I think I might have had Braxton hick on Xmas day. My whole bump went hard and I had period like cramps intermittently for about half hour or so. DH got quite excited that it might mean a Christmas baby! I'm slightly confused though, as I thought BH were meant to be painless (according to NHS online) but these were definitely a tad uncomfortable!

EeyoreIsh · 28/12/2013 15:54

Laura I hope mine is getting ready to come out. I'm 35w tmw, and in the last week I've certainly felt more twinges, such as stabby pains down below, lower back ache and period like twinges. That said, the BH aren't painful, just very tight.

I've just had a very long snooze on the sofa, time to get back to painting!

laura0007 · 28/12/2013 16:12

My Braxton hicks aren't painful Harlem. It just feels like someone is squeezing me round my (non existent) waist. I keep getting stabby pains in my fanjo eeyore, feels like he's digging his way out with his nails!

gnittinggnome · 28/12/2013 16:21

harlem I got some pains that were quite like period pains, along with a rock solid bump, intermittently over Christmas Day, and got a little excited that I might be looking at a Christmas baby, but fortunately not! It was either BH or as someone else suggested, wind! It did give me pause though, thinking about how much stronger it would get, and how I would handle it when push comes to shove and labour is properly happening.

But, am clocking in at 36 weeks tomorrow, so definitely in the imminent arrival zone...

notoneforselfies · 28/12/2013 17:13

I'm getting, on average, about 1 BH an hour these days. I hope this means I'll have a hard-as-nails super toned uterus by Feb and will push him out in one go! They are bloody hard to walk through as they contract so much I can't stand up straight! (not from any pain but just because the muscles are so scrunched) The stabby cervix thing has quietened down for the last few days, thank goodness. Hopefully that's as effaced as it'll get for a while/until labour...

LovesToBake · 28/12/2013 17:46

Evening all! Not liking the sound of the stubby cervix pains, glad I haven't experienced those beauties yet. Not sure if I've been getting BHs or not either, maybe this is my payback for 6 months of puking.

Like a lot of you I'm suddenly realising that Christmas was a major mental milestone for me and the next one (January 1st) is only a few days away now so I really am going to have to start doing all of the things I've been saving up to do 'while on maternity leave in January'! Have done nothing yet and bought nothing, apart from a pack of size 1 nappies and two packs of maternity pads. Next week will still be a bit of a funny one as DH back at work and nursery closed still so DS home with me, so I'm now mentally shifting all of my baby prep and spare room sorting to the w/c 6th Jan now! Although I did list our spare double bed and mattress on Gumtree today so I guess that's the beginning, just hope someone wants to take it off our hands (and give us some cash to go towards all the new furniture for DS' new room).

Can't remember who else is doing pregnancy yoga these days? I went to my third session this morning and really loved it, walked home feeling so much looser and more free in the hips/pelvis area which must mean it's doing what it's supposed to do I guess. Also lots of lovely lounging around in relaxation poses at the end!

Has anyone got NYE plans? I feel a bit lame but am keeping my head down when anyone asks (for fear of being invited somewhere) as I'm just hoping to have a cosy evening in with DS, cook a nice meal and maybe watch a DVD or something. Doubt I'll even make it to midnight to be honest!

marzipanned · 28/12/2013 17:47

Wow, I haven't had any BH. Would like some I think just so I know my body is ramping up for things to get going...

Baby has been incredibly active for past week and very quiet today. Ate loads of ice cream which didn't help so going to glug cold water and kick count. I must admit after my last experience going in for monitoring I'd really rather avoid doing it again so... get moving little one, get moving.

marzipanned · 28/12/2013 17:50

Oops sorry x-post Loves.

I'm still doing pregnancy yoga! I really enjoy it and sleep very well afterwards. It also usually gets baby squirming a fair bit which I love.

NYE - exactly the same as yours but substitute DH for DS! I'm not a massive fan of big NYE celebrations anyway as they are so often anti climactic and result in feeling like utter death on the first day of the new year, so perfectly happy to just have a quiet cosy night at home.

Actually I have to say, having DH off work at the moment has been the best Christmas present imaginable, and I can't think of a better close to the year than curling up in bed together with a DVD, something good to eat and the cat snoring away at our feet.

EeyoreIsh · 28/12/2013 18:27

marzi, that's so sweet about having your DH around Smile

Loves, I was doing yoga but haven't got a month. I plan to go weekly in Jan until baby arrives, and will also be getting some acupuncture. I love the feeling afterwards, all open and chilled. It makes the ligament pain worse immediately afterwards but it improves after that.

I wouldn't have recognised my BH as such, but I get a very tight bump in the evening and after walking/standing/painting. I asked the mw, and she said they were BH. They last for ages though, so I'm expecting a very toned uterus dammit!

Painting done for today, about to cook a really healthy dinner as feeling very deprived of fruit and veg. I got two ottolenghi cookbooks for Xmas, clever DH Grin

My parents are coming to stay for NYE, so DH and my dad will go to the pub before coming back for supper. I fully expect to be asleep before midnight!

LovesToBake · 28/12/2013 18:46

Oops Marzi, that was a typo - I meant an evening in with DH on NYE, definitely not DS - he will be tucked up in bed (I hope!)

marzipanned · 28/12/2013 19:21

Loves, I wondered whether perhaps your DH was going off to some wild party while you and DS snuggled at home!

Eeyore, isn't Ottolenghi FAB! If one of the books happened to be Jerusalem, there is a sea bass recipe in there that is the best fish thing I've ever made. Definitely one to try. Funnily enough we are having a stir fry tonight as I'm feeling a bit veg deprived too and I can get about 5 different portions of vegetables in there...

Julietee · 28/12/2013 19:48

Omg Sunflowered are those braxton hicks?? I went through a period of getting that all the time and it was so uncomfortable! Would stop me from walking/ eating. Luckily it's subsided for now. For me that doesn't feel like a tightening but an extreme bloating and it makes sitting (and everything) so miserable.

Cubano :D

I really must get added to the FB group! Sounds like some of you who are further along are going to be having babies soonish and I want to see pictures! I believe a couple of ladies have tried to add me but I never received any notifications about it or gained access to the group. I don't use an email to log in (I use myfirstname.lastname) but I do have a facebook email address apparently.

gnittinggnome · 28/12/2013 20:54

Is anyone else getting clumsy? I am becoming a liability, and it's profoundly annoying. I've just thrown blister packs of pregnacare all over the floor when tidying them away, and literally everything I touch in the bathroom has had at least one dunking in the cats' water bowl. I used to do yoga, and have excellent balance, and was never ever clumsy! Argh!

CubanoHabana · 28/12/2013 22:19

I bent down to pick washing up from floor and managed to almost knock myself out by hitting my head on the washing mashing cupboard handle... At least I was close to the floor already... Clumsy isn't really the word for me at the moment - more like walking catastrophe!

EeyoreIsh · 28/12/2013 22:20

Yep, clumsy anyway, but today I managed to get paint on my jumper Sad

Thisisfreakingmeout · 28/12/2013 23:31

I have beenexperienc

sunflowered · 29/12/2013 01:23

Clumsy isn't the word for it - complete disaster area. Have given up picking things up as I go when cooking now, just have to stop and sweep every half hour or so...

Julietee it could well be trapped wind... was more of a sharp pain than a bloated feeling though, and was at the top of the bump which made me think bh not excess sprouts. My bump is so stretched it feels permanently hard so not sure I'd noticed the difference - when family members have had a little feel over christmas they've all been a bit surprised at how solid it is (tummy was a bit on the soft side before pregnancy!)

Also starting to get the odd stabby feeling down below. Used to have a coil pre-ttc and this.feels similar to how period pains would start, which is a bit disconcerting.

Sassy20 · 29/12/2013 03:20

Yes to being more clumsy than usual.

Bloody insomnia is back tonight Hmm

rueyrichardson · 29/12/2013 07:25

Yes, I am super clumsy too. Also experiencing some tightenings and period pain type feelings quite low down. I don't think the baby is engaged though judging by the amount of movement, its little bottom seems to turn up all over so I think transverse/breech more likely at this stage. Scan on Tues so I will find out! Went to a wedding yesterday, and it was our own wedding anniversary too so I indulged in a glass of fizz, which I regret a bit now as I feel kind of bleurgh. Have a cosy Sunday all!

EeyoreIsh · 29/12/2013 08:25

congrats on your anniversary ruey

I'm 35 weeks today, can't believe it! I've just been reading the January thread and they're all popping out their babies! That'll be us soon Shock

Thingymajigs · 29/12/2013 08:43

Oh my god they really are having babies. We are next. Shock You'd think the year of TTC and 8 months of pregnancy would make this obvious but it still amazes me that I'm about to produce another person.
Bump feels very heavy now and turning over in bed is a mammoth effort. I'm wistfully remembering my smaller pre-pregnancy frame and what seems like gymnastic agility in comparison to this state. Last week I got stuck and had to roll off the sofa in front of DP.
Off for a long walk today in a local park to get rid of the post Christmas sluggishness. Next time we go we'll be taking ds3 with us to show him the deer and ducks. Smile Can't wait.

Thingymajigs · 29/12/2013 08:48

Oh, in a mad state of nesting I took down all the Christmas decorations early yesterday. Ds2 wasn't impressed but I really wanted to start preparing for the next stage and get everything clean. The nursery is finally being painted tomorrow so I'm happy. Has anyone else taken theirs down yet?
