You other mothers can't deny,
When a girl walks in with an ever expanding waist
And a round thing in your face
You....'d better give her some cake....

etc, etc,

New thread! Enjoy!

Merry Christmas all! I'm thinking mince pie for now whilst the pigs in blankets are cooking in the oven.

Seem to have reached a stage where I am perpetually hungry - good thing it's Christmas!

Have wonderful days, and it is quite an amazing thought our little ones will be crawling all over causing chaos next year xx

CubanoHabana · 25/12/2013 10:46

Merry Christmas everyone!

misskatamari · 25/12/2013 11:22

Merry Christmas preggos! I hope you're all having lovely days Grin

We've got the lunch prep done and the giant gammon is cooking, and I've started on a small Buck's Fizz Smile. Going to try and eat something a little more sensible than chocolate before lunch time finally arrives but don't know how successful I will be in those efforts. Lots of love to everyone! xxx

Happy Christmas everyone! Lovely chilled day here, DS has been loving his presents and we're just waiting to get him off to bed before tucking into our lovely turkey meal in about half an hour. Gaviscon at the ready for after the meal, sure I'll need it!

Littleen · 25/12/2013 23:47

Happy christmas :)
So the guests finally arrived after a 21 hour trip due to the weather, and we've had both norwegian and english christmas meals and opened presents! It's all really nice! I still don't feel the christmas spirit, but hey - it might just be one of those years when it never arrives! Nice to just relax a bit anyway :D

DawnOfTheDee · 26/12/2013 18:21

Back home now after Christmas at my mum and dad's. Mum was lovely and said to let her know if i need her to come over and help/keep me and DD company once DH is back at work (they live 1.5hrs away). Might have to take her up on that if this headache doesn't shift. I have enough painkillers to last me till tomorrow morning (just) but unless there is vast improvement i'm going to go back to the gp. Headache has lasted 4 full days now and is intense - this can't be normal..

Otherwise we're meant to be at the inlaws tomorrow which i'm hoping i can make at least for a bit. DH's sister is due in feb too but doesn't live near us and I'd really love to catch up with her.

Boiler due to be replaced on 30/31st. Hope all goes to plan....our little house is quite cosy and easy to heat so managing with lecky heaters for now but if the temperature drops it won't be much fun!

Glad to hear you have a boiler woes end date in sight dawn - thankfully this winter has been milder than last year.

Boxing Day has consisted of DH getting in a strop about losing monopoly to my brother, eating leftovers and generally looking forward to getting home. I can only take 2-3 days of staying with my parents and we have just about reached my limit!

In boring GD news, my one and only new pack of test strips doesn't work with my reader thingy so have been unable to check blood since 5pm yesterday. Have another pack waiting for me at the pharmacy back home so hoping these will work otherwise I'm going to be unable to complete my log before consultant appointment on 31st. Bit worried they will think it highly fishy that it stopped on Christmas Day but I have kept the faulty ones to prove my innocence!

Are we ready for round 2 of stormy weather tonight/tomorrow then?

bugsyburge · 27/12/2013 08:32

Morning all,

Merry Christmas!!! lovely to hear about all of your Christmas days on facebook.... hope those of you sufferring are feeling better today. I'm not a poster on the FB page because I'm paranoid I'll post it on my main page!!

we've had my mam & grandparents staying with us since Xmas eve which means DH & I have been on the sofas. it's been lovely to have them but I have to say I'm looking forward to having my house & my bed back later Smile although Xmas time will be knackering for a completely different reason next year!!!! I'm always amazed at Xmas how many times I wash & dry crockery & how many times I make cups of tea!!!

got a quick turnaround today though...my mam & grandparents will set off back to Manchester then we are going out with some friends for a drink & then i will be back home to clean the house in preparation for my dad & his missus coming to stay for the night on Saturday....on sunday I will be sitting on the sofa & not movingGrin

has anyone braved the shops yet?!

enjoy your day preggos

Sassy20 · 27/12/2013 09:08

Morning. Glad everyone has enjoyed Christmas. We had mil with us on Christmas Day till Boxing Day and in all honesty I was glad when she went and I got my house back! Didn't help that she suddenly announced she's developed a really sore throat and cold about two hours after arriving and then miraculously produced lemsips she'd brought with her. Is it just me or is it pretty unreasonable to come to the home of a heavily pregnant woman full of cold?! I was pretty pissed off after that. To add insult to injury we were all supposed to go to my parents on Boxing Day but they cancelled as both full of horrible cold and didn't want to pass anything on to me or dd.

Anyway to be honest I'm glad it's all finished this year and am looking forward to putting all decs away and getting baby stuff out. Smile

sunflowered · 27/12/2013 10:15

Glad people had good christmases on the whole despite nights on the sofa and coldy relatives... Have had a lovely couple of days with family but quite excited to switch from xmas decoration to nursery decoration soon as someone else said.earlier Smile

31 week mw appt this morning and all seems to be on track. Bump measuring ok despite surviving on a diet of mince pies since I last saw her, and head starting to engage which might be why I've been feeling marginally less uncomfortable the last few days. Fingers crossed that means the baby's set to make a timely arrival and won't keep us hanging on into March.

KalevalaForMePlease · 27/12/2013 10:25

Hello, Merry Christmas! Hope everyone had a lovely day! I managed to survive Christmas with GD, thankfully here in Australia it's all cold meats and salad for get togethers anyway. Had to sit in another room when all the cakes and desserts came out! Is stinking hot as well, mid 30s every day.

I do miss Christmas at home with my own family, this is my third one in Oz now, and I am getting better at just enjoying the day and trying not to compare too much, this year was the first year I didn't find myself crying in the bathroom half way through so an improvement! I am soooo eating and drinking all around me next year though.

Saw today that I have only 56 days to go on my baby app, I think I have been putting so much off till after Christmas, and now I have so much to do!

EeyoreIsh · 27/12/2013 10:46

Glad most people had lovely Christmases, mine was really relaxing, with my family. About to make the journey home, after three days of doing nothing but eat I'm quite looking forward to getting home and doing things.

Dawn, I hope your headache gets better soon. I've had migraines that have lasted three days, but never four.

I've tried to put on weight by eating lots but failing! I'm still the same weight I was four weeks ago. My bump is certainly growing though, even if the fundal height is coming up a bit small.

marzipanned · 27/12/2013 12:03

Eeyore I'm sort of relieved to hear you aren't putting on weight either, weighed myself this morning and I've dropped a few kilos (how?! Maybe not consuming all the alcohol calories over Christmas made a difference...?!) I then tried to measure my own fundal height as not seeing a MW til 36 weeks and came up at 29cm - clearly doing it completely wrong. Anyway!

Sassy I'd be a bit ticked off about the cold thing too, mainly because the only cold I've had this pregnancy took about a month to get rid of and it is really miserable when you can't take anything for it either. I hope you followed her around with the disinfectant :)

Kalevala I know exactly what you mean, the whole pregnancy has felt like it's gone so slowly and suddenly it's almost January and I feel I have absolutely masses to do.

Going to devote a couple of hours to dissertation now then hopefully make the most of having DH at home for the next few days to get furniture moved around, curtains re-hung, etc. It was a bit sad coming home from my aunt's beautiful, cosy, welcoming home to our stinky iceberg last night but we will get there!

Julietee · 27/12/2013 12:32

Just back from my 32 week midwife appointment (though I'm not actually at 32 weeks til Sunday) and it was really positive. Blood test results all good - apparently my iron levels are fab :)
And he's head down! I'm so proud! I was sure I'd been feeling his head up by my stomach but it must be his bum.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 27/12/2013 16:02

Just dropped off so re-marking my place!

winterflowers · 27/12/2013 17:40

Good news julietee, I have the same with mine as well - hoping she doesn't budge now.

Hope you avoid the cold sassy it is irresponsible to do that and you should make it clear people can't do that when LO is actually here!

Good luck sorting the house marzi hope it is all warm and homely again soon

CubanoHabana · 27/12/2013 18:27

julitee are you sure we aren't the same person?

32 weeks Sunday, mw today, head down, fab iron levels...

Painful anti-d for me today, after bragging to husband that when I had it after some bleeding, it didn't hurt at all...

Paid for pram in full today, buying any other baby things on Monday with mum, including (hopefully) a new car that can actually take a car seat!

notoneforselfies · 27/12/2013 23:32

grr. Just had to get up out of bed, get dressed and in the car and drive to the 24 hour supermarket and back to buy gaviscon. Awesome.

Fedup1992 · 28/12/2013 04:43

Merry Christmas every body!! Hope u had a fab Xmas

First night in our bed in 3 days and I can't bloody sleep ahhhh

Had a debate with my mum last night 40 weeks in 10 months

I'm 34 weeks which I'd say was 8 and a half months u get to nine and have to go to the end

But she says it's 7 months I'm well confused what do u lot say xxx

notoneforselfies · 28/12/2013 08:42

I'm also 34 weeks. That's counted from May 3rd. Start with the first day of your last period and count either full weeks or calendar months.

So if I wanted to look at months that means I'll be 8 months on Jan 3rd. My due date is Feb 7th, where I will be 40 weeks, or 9 months and a week. If I go to 42 weeks then it's almost 10 months. So it is a bit of a stretch to say 8.5 months now if you are 34 weeks... Wink

Poppy954 · 28/12/2013 09:19

A month is not exactly 4 weeks fedup or there would be 13 months in a year. Your mum and notone are right.
At 34 weeks you are 7.8 months pregnant. At 37 weeks you'll be 8.5 months pregnant and at 39 weeks 9 months.
40 weeks is about 9 months and 1 week.

Fedup1992 · 28/12/2013 10:04

Baffles me all of this.

Anyway I'm just glad the end is near xxxx

EeyoreIsh · 28/12/2013 10:13

Some people do count the months as lunar months (28 days/4 weeks) which would lead to 40 weeks = 10 months. However, in England we tend to go with calendar months.

DawnOfTheDee · 28/12/2013 10:37

I think in France they do it by calender months....i.e. they say pregnancy lasts 10months rather than 9.

I kind of do a mix of the two but as DD1 was over 15 days late I was definitely pregnant for nearer 10 months rather than 9!
