You other mothers can't deny,
When a girl walks in with an ever expanding waist
And a round thing in your face
You....'d better give her some cake....

etc, etc,

New thread! Enjoy!

Just took our cards down as a first effort in the changeover from Xmas to baby, Thingy!

Thingymajigs · 29/12/2013 09:02

Yay! We are all getting organised. Christmas for me was a big time marker in the baby preparations so now its out of the way I've got no excuse to not get ready. I probably need new markers in January though or the month will drag.
Happy anniversary Ruey. Hope you had a lovely day.

Sassy20 · 29/12/2013 09:11

Thingy - I took ours down on Friday after seeking permission from dd who helped me! Just wanted to get tidied up and also to get baby things out of loft to check over and wash etc. x

jazzcat28 · 29/12/2013 09:28

Morning all! Scary that some of us are having Braxton Hicks already - it's a countdown to real contractions from here!!! I've packed most of baby's hospital bag and my own now, just need to get a few more bits then we're good to go.

Our nursery is almost done now, just need my dad to come to visit in January to help hang curtains and the one wall of wallpaper. Also need to make a decision about which cot mattress to order online to fit my old cot - there are so many choices of fillings/coverings!

We are off to PIL for NYE and it will be spent in a working men's social club with DH's family. I will be sober whilst everyone gets totally mullered around me. Then I will be on a uncomfortable single bed in a freezing bedroom with DH on the floor. Not really looking forward to it, but it's only 1 night I guess.

Am entering a limbo period for the next 2.5 days - DH back at work, I'm off work, the nesting urge may take over. I have a real urge to deep clean the kitchen....

Shropshiremummy2B · 29/12/2013 09:29

I'm eager to get my decs down, past Boxing Day they start to look messy and out of place!

I'm not sure I'm any more clumsy than before having said that, when I do drop something on the floor I'm suddenly more aware of the massive effort needed to retrieve it!

Tight tummy in the evenings if that is BH, but otherwise I think the little bub is as happy in there as I have been having it in there! Always the hostess.

winterflowers · 29/12/2013 09:44

Tight tummy here too, especially when I've been walking around a fair bit. Good if it is helping to tone tho! When are we supposed to start on the rraspberry leaf tea as well?

Also can't quite believe next week is January - our first babies will be with us, and I really really need to do some . preparations! jazz I need a new mattress too but am flummoxed by all the choice.

Yy shrops to the picking things up! Cannot say it is done gracefully that's for sure!

Happy anniversary ruey Thanks

Artisticme · 29/12/2013 09:58

Yes very clumsy here too, think Iv managed to fall at least once a month since being pregnant. Luckily no major disasters!!
Also getting a lot of BH but more when I'm on my feet at work, also a lot of pressure down below and period type pains. I don't remember having that until the last few weeks first time round!! Bit scary considering I am in no way prepared yet.

I am also massively tempted to take all the decorations down but feel as if I should hold out till OH gets home from work as he's been away for Christmas. May give in and put them all away though!

LovesToBake · 29/12/2013 10:02

I'm with you all on the Christmas decs. Friends coming over this afternoon so I've just made pastry for mince pies which I'll make with DS shortly when DH brings him back from their Sunday morning swimming date! So I think I'll take all of the decorations down this evening and draw a line under Christmas. Next stop, baby!

Feel I've made a little bit of progress on getting started with sorting baby stuff - I listed our spare room double bed & mattress on Gumtree yesterday and have had quite a bit of interest so really hoping someone will firm up and come and collect this afternoon. Once that's gone, we can get the ikea stuff we need to turn it into DS' new bedroom, decorate it and drag baby kit down from the loft to start going through what we need this time round, what needs washing etc.

I'm actually amazed none of us have had babies already but I bet come 1st Jan there will be a fair few announcements imminent. Eek!

Julietee · 29/12/2013 11:14

Yep, those of you due in the first bit of Feb will be term really, really soon! Argh! I'm jealous. Won't be there til 2nd of Feb.

Jazz That NYE sounds like a bit of a nightmare (maybe only to me because I hate that kind of thing). We were going to go to a local friend who was having a pizza party, but she's since decided to go to a party in East London, and I cannot be bothered with the shlep. So will most likely be DH and me alone together (for the last time).

I don't have any xmas decorations to get down as I didn't put any up! DH wants to next year for the baby - I think he won't be aware of what's going on anyway and will try to eat/ pull down the decorations, so will end up being more trouble than it's worth.

tinypolkadot · 29/12/2013 11:16

I've also been experiencing mild period pain, but it seems to be linked with needing the loo and I always feel like I need to go!

Yes to the clumsiness. I'm contantly jabbing myself in the belly, I keep forgetting how big it is! I've also been getting the odd BH but not regularly I don't think.

I can't believe some of your decorations are down already! We usually keep ours up til new years day but now I'm wondering if we should take them down as well.

I agree we must be due our first birth soon! I think the next thread will be action packed

EeyoreIsh · 29/12/2013 11:22

I was going to keep my tree and decorations up a bit longer, but as my parents are coming down for NY with their hyper dog I might take the tree down early!

laura0007 · 29/12/2013 12:01

I'm taking mine down today. I hate clutter and they are starting to annoy me. The boxes have all been on the floor in the nursery since I put them up two weeks ago and the OCD in me just can't cope with it anymore!

Artisticme · 29/12/2013 12:05

Aw just even reading the jan thread! So scary to think it's us next! And so many of them goin so early too! Wonder who will be the first here:)
Been meaning to ask where do I find the stats thread? And also could someone please add me into the fb page please:)

Timpani · 29/12/2013 12:18

Not been around for ages!

I'm getting tonnes of BH! And a bit periody when I need a number 2 as well. Can't believe I'm so close to the end and the preparations haven't started! No nursery to decorate!

Priority number one is get down the stuff (Moses etc) from the loft, wash everything, get the car seat back and pick up our double buggy from the shop. I've decided it can all wait til the first week in January. But eek, I'm 35 weeks already. Yikes.

Artisticme · 29/12/2013 12:22

Found the stats thread and added myself to it:) didn't realise there were so many of us!! Exciting:)

winterflowers · 29/12/2013 12:23

Omg the Jan thread will be us so soon! Scary and exciting and amazing. Can't wait to meet her now, will console myself with one last scan in Janto see her

CubanoHabana · 29/12/2013 16:10

Currently trying to come up with lots of slow cooker recipes that I can prep and freeze once on mat leave, although tempted to do it earlier, as I have such a fear of baby coming before I have a chance! Still got 3 weeks left at school and the staff are notorious for going home one night from school and going into labour before mat leave begins, this has happened with 5 out of the last 6 pregnancies!

marzipanned · 29/12/2013 17:19

Good point cubano, I really need to start filling the freezer.

Popped into Boots today and got some maternity pads (which look a bit rubbish, but thought at least I've got some now...) and nappies. I don't know why but I felt fine buying the bed, pram, etc, but nappies...that sort of unnerved me?!

We didn't end up putting Christmas decs up this year either as the sitting room wasn't finished until the 23rd or something. Normally I leave them up til the last possible minute but I have a feeling this year I'd be tearing them down too.

Not only clumsy, but a liability in other areas too - DH and I went to the shops this afternoon and I left the front door not only unlocked but also wide open...

barebranches · 29/12/2013 17:40

so sorry everyone lost the thread.

Really excited because this week im sorting out my hospital bag! On Tuesday me and DH are going to go and spend our £100 of nectar points on things for baby and hospital bag!!!
ahhh 6 weeks to go!! Grin

misskatamari · 29/12/2013 18:02

Phew we've just got back from visiting DH's family down in Cardiff and I'm all caught up with the thread Smile.

I'm getting really tight uncomfortable bump in the evenings too - I don't know if it is BH as it lasts for bloody ages. It still seems like the baby is really high up in there. Hopefully I'll get some good news on NYE when I see the midwife and she might be head down - although i'm doubtful, she seems pretty comfy in there. I'm 35+1 so getting a bit concerned but hopefull she'll get shifting soon.

I'm sooo glad to be home and get to sleep in my own bed tonight! It's been lovely to see the family but bed at PIL was like rock so every 45mins I was awake with sore legs and hips and having a mammoth turn over. Last night was in my niece's really awful single bed (which was at least softer, if rather springy) - and horror of horrors - a downstairs loo at the back of the house! Luckily I only needed about 5 wees in the night so it wasn't too traumatic trekking to it.

I'm planning a similar NYE to most of you - having a quiet night in with DH. He's hopefully off work for the next 3 days so we're planning on just having a lovely lazy rest after a busy Christmas week. Then it's time for operation prepare for baby! I feel the need to make lists and get major batch cooking done! I've bought my birthing pool on ebay finally - so baby HAS to get right way round now so I can have my home birth! Still quite a few bits to get and sort though, plus nursery to sort out and paint.

Eeeek it's so exciting that we're all so nearly there. I do get a bit freaked out every now and then when I realise i'm going to have an actual baby but on the whole I'm just so excited to meet her! Grin I'd best be nice to the cats for the remaining few weeks before they never have any love or attention again!

CubanoHabana · 29/12/2013 18:41

I'm getting a touch worried about baby and cats... The furr balls have been incredibly clingy over past few days, don't know if it's because I'm on holiday or hormones or what but I am now stressing about how they will be when baby gets here...

Thingymajigs · 29/12/2013 19:03

I'm getting worried about our cats too cubano. I don't believe for a second that pets have an instinct and know we are pregnant. Mine haven't got the foggiest and look at me gone out when baby kicks them. They do notice when you don't give them as much attention though and mine are playing up quite a bit. The stories about babies being suffocated by cats seem completely unfounded but mine are quite keen on sleeping on people so the worry is there. I'm wondering whether to start banning them from my bedroom because we are going to co-sleep for 6 months. Does your cat normally sleep with you?

laura0007 · 29/12/2013 19:19

My cat normally sleeps under my bed during the day then she goes outside at night but I've started shutting my bedroom door so she can't get in. She isn't happy though and sits outside my door crying. I don't know what else to do though I don't want her to think she can sleep in the Moses basket once it's in there and she will I know it!

CubanoHabana · 29/12/2013 19:28

Mine don't sleep in bedroom but when you are on settee either try to sleep high upon chest or on head... Which is not fun when furr ball in question is 2 stone...

Thing I worry about is that they are our babies and have been for last 2-4 years, think they will get upset when real baby comes along... And the big one makes it very obvious when he is upset, with non usage of litter tray amongst other things!

With regards to Moses basket, little one will probably try to sleep in it and big one will (and has) try to sharpen claws on it, and given his size, nearly pulls it off the stand. Means no nap time for me when baby sleeps unless kitty's not in room...

CubanoHabana · 29/12/2013 19:31

Also, is it dates or prunes that we should eat every day near the end and when for raspberry leaf tea - 32 or 36 weeks?
