You other mothers can't deny,
When a girl walks in with an ever expanding waist
And a round thing in your face
You....'d better give her some cake....

etc, etc,

New thread! Enjoy!

It feels a bit apocalyptic here tonight - there's a dustbin blowing down the road, fences blown down, massive tree blocking the trainline and no word from.builder so still have water running down the kitchen wall. Not flooding down, but there shouldn't be any water in that part of the kitchen. Sounds a lot worse than the 'big' storm earlier in the autumn Sad

Hope you're all tucked up safely somewhere warm (and that marzi and dawn you're making progress on the boiler front). Looking forward to opening my secret santa tomorrow morning Smile Bump is kicking away in excitement.

gnittinggnome · 23/12/2013 23:22

jazz I think that sounds like a really nice way to remember Junior. Not tacky at all.

eeyorish hope you feel better tomorrow, and get a good night's sleep. It sucks to feel under the weather (and what weather!) at any time, I think I'd just buckle now.

In other news, the M&P Urbo pram arrived today, my goodness but it's a very vibrant sort of purple! Which is great, because we'll coordinate! It kind of makes it feel more real - we got the chest of drawers up, plus a little stand next to it with a couple of little toys, his books, nappies etc up in our room, and it looks so pretty and full of anticipation. All we need to do is put up the snuzpod next to my side of the bed and it'll feel pretty darn imminent. The rest of the flat is a complete tip of cardboard boxes of flatpack nursery furniture / cot+car seat / materials for my business so quite stressy and not Christmassy/festive but that little corner is working it.

Am 35+1, I could in all seriousness be a mother in three weeks! Yikes!

sunflowered · 23/12/2013 23:30

3 weeks gnitting! Are you feeling more Confused or more Grin at this stage?

Also 31 weeks and also not doing hosp bag until Jan. We're in Belfast next week with in laws and couldn't fit hospital.bag into luggage allowance with all the xmas presents we need to take over... Tried to get the details of the local mat assesment unit there in case of emeegency, but couldn't find anything helpful.

bugsyburge · 24/12/2013 00:14

well Tesco was a hoot.....it was bloody packed & took 2 hours (this wasn't my main shop either, just the last minute fresh stuff!!!!) however that's two hours I don't have to waste tomorrow....I can instead get the cleaning & Christmas eve cooking done in preparation for our families arriving en masse tomorrow afternoon.

sleep well preggos Smile

Thingymajigs · 24/12/2013 06:56

Wow gnitting, that's not long at all. I'm so shocked at how quickly this is all going for all of us. I have little rushes of emotion when he kicks because I know this will be my last pregnancy and there isn't long left. On the other hand this bloody insomnia is driving me mad so I can't wait to feel that first contraction. It might be harder to differentiate between BH and labour this time because my BH's are quite painful sometimes.
bugsy you are very brave to be out food shopping and hosting for Christmas. How many people are you cooking for? Is it for Christmas day too? I made it quite clear early on that I wouldn't be lifting a finger or buying for adults this year and everyone is ok about that. Well, no one has complained yet anyway.
Lots of sympathy to everyone struggling with house issues. Sad This thread has been so unlucky with things like that. I hope everyone gets sorted before your due dates arrive.
34 weeks today! I will post a bump update on FB later with my Secret Santa pressie. And then I'm rushing off to the MW.
Happy Christmas everyone! This time next year we will have gorgeous 10 month old babies crawling around trying to pull the tree down.

LittlePandaBear · 24/12/2013 07:56

Morning all - DD had me up at 6.30am today and she's normally more like 7.45am when we're not at work and have to get her up earlier. DH had lots of wine last night so obviously he's more deserving of the lie in, grrr. I imagine she'll be up early tomorrow with the excitement of Christmas presents! Saying that, she's quite happy to sit in front of the tv first thing in the morning so is no trouble! (Parenting skills they don't teach you at NCT).

There is a September 2014 thread! Our babies will be 7 months old by then! Can't believe we're so near the end now!

Really hope everyone with house trouble gets it's sorted soon and well before babies start arriving.

I've been hibernating the past few days but hope the wind and rain stops for a bit today so I can take DD to the park for some fresh air! Hope everyone travelling today has a smooth journey.

Have a lovely Christmas Eve all Xmas Smile

xx

winterflowers · 24/12/2013 08:46

Last night was apocalyptic, couldn't sleep for all the wind and rain - looks much better today so safe travels for everyone on the move.

bugsy can't believe it was so busy at that time! 10pm seems so late to me now...

Hope everyone with house and water issues ( seems like almost everyone!) gets them sorted enough to be warm and dry and enjoy Christmas.

marzipanned · 24/12/2013 09:01

34 weeks today! Will take my notes and whatever MIL has put in my hospital bag with me to relatives for Christmas... but pretty much taking the same viewpoint that if baby does come now, we'll be in hospital for a bit and there'll be plenty of time for DH to get car seats and everything else required.

sunflowered AAAARGH. Best of luck with getting a builder out today. I think this is the biggest storm this year, though it doesn't seem to be hitting us too terribly (on east coast).

jazz I also think that sounds like a lovely way to remember Junior. Shock at your DH's friends thinking he was talking about the baby!!

Loved opening my secret santa this morning and it's so much fun seeing what everyone's getting! Have to go into town this morning to get one final Christmas present for my cousin - no idea what though... Have never left shopping this late before, intrigued to see whether town is a mad scrum or a wasteland...

Safe travels everyone who's on the road/trains today.

sunflowered · 24/12/2013 10:47

Still no word ftom builder but rain's stopped and ceiling/wall drying out. Have found another really little leak coming from the loft but figure that can wait until mat leave. Have been ignoring it since November so a couple more weeks won't make much difference I reckon...

littlepanda I'm really looking forward to august/september - hopefully will have a bubbly, happy little person to enjoy the summer holiday with Smile

Ladies on the January thread are starting to pop out babies now - at full term.. Not long to go Grin (though will be keeping legs firmly crossed until I get oast 35/36 weeks...)

Artisticme · 24/12/2013 11:08

Oh my goodness! Finally caught up! Can't believe how behind I got:( loved reading everyone's how we met stories:) and so sorry to hear about your cat jazz:(
Not much progression here, still no nursery as the 5 days my OH was home we had his grans funeral and had to clear out her house. He's not home until 3 of jan now so hopefuly will get it all done then:)
Finally finished my Xmas shopping yesterday, including food shop! Can't believe how angry people seem in the shops!! Haha I thought this is supposed to be a happy time of year!
So I'm 32+5 today woke up at 2.30 with a horrible cold and couldn't get back to sleep so not going to be a very enjoyable day at work. On the plus side only 4 more days left until maternity leave starts!! Can't wait:)

Anyway happy Christmas Eve you lovely pregos:) hope you all have a fabulous day tomoro incase I don't get back on:)

Littleen · 24/12/2013 11:30

Pfff, starting to feel a bit down this Christmas eve! Should be cooking christmas dinner for visitors by now, but with the weather the plane has been delayed 6-7 times already! They were supposed to arrive last night! So I'm just sat on my tod, other half still in bed, and I just don't feel like doing anything. My mum is home from the hospital for Christmas eve, but she's taken a rather extreme turn for the worse and I don't dare to go see them as I have a cold and don't want to risk it! It's all just very frustrating and sad too. Was hoping visitors would distract me somewhat from everything else, so fingers crossed the plane actually leaves soon!!

sunflowered · 24/12/2013 12:33

Littleen sounds like you need a small glass ofWine and some christmas elves to come and sort things out for you. Hope your visitors get off the ground soon and that your cold clears up so you can visit your mum over christmas.

tinypolkadot · 24/12/2013 12:58

I can't actually believe it's Christmas tomorrow, this month has just gone by in a blur!

Loving all the secret santa pics, I'm waiting for dh to get home before I open mine.

Litleen hope your visitors arrive soon and that you start to feel better soon too.

Sorry to hear everyone's building nightmares. That storm last night was horrific. We are on a building site and theres a usual large wet patch just behind our garden and this morning it looks like a lake! Next door has a gazebo in their garden, surprised it didn't take off in the middle of the night!

Had my mw app this morn and happy to report baby is now head down! Let's hope he stays there.
Still haven't packed my hospital bag! Argh!

Hope everyone has a lovely xmas eve and xmas day with some Wine and lots Cake Xmas Smile

Julietee · 24/12/2013 13:49

We've had 3 fence panels down and our garden table blew over!

Just went for a walk, overdid it on a steep hill and felt like i'd pulled something in my groin a few steps later. I had to hobble home, grr!

gnittinggnome · 24/12/2013 14:20

julietee my MIL grew up in Kenya, and uses a phrase "polepole" (sounds like poorly poorly) which means "slowly" in swahili, with additional subtext of gingerly, carefully, gently. Whenever I'm rushing around the place I can hear my DH's voice saying "polepole" and I can bring it down a notch. Which is helping, as my hip is now pretty sore... Here's to no more hobbling!

Julietee · 24/12/2013 14:32

Gnitting I like it. And should probably listen to it :)

marzipanned · 24/12/2013 15:24

gnitting I love that.

tiny that's fab news about head down baby.

littleen I hope your guests have arrived/arrive soon (and all the healthy stuff doesn't bother you!) Sorry to hear about your Mum too. I hope you get to see her before too long.

julietee hope the groin injury doesn't give you too much bother. Lots of stretching and maybe a (not too) hot bath this afternoon?

Just back from town. It wasn't too bad busy wise, but a bit depressing somehow. Lots of people puffing away over their kids' prams and looking mightily pissed off. Kids getting threatened with Santa not coming. Etc. I think the weather made it all feel more grim than festive too. Really glad to be home, and have carols from Kings on the radio, to prepare special dinner for tonight to.

sunflowered · 24/12/2013 16:03

gnitting we stayed in a place called pole pole on our honeymoon and it was amazing - the sort of place you do just have to slow down for a few days instead of running madly from place to place... Will remember that over the next few days when I'm ferrying dh from one family event to another. It is good advice Smile

Builder has replied. "I thought my roofer had fixed the leak". Yes builder, so did we, when your roofer said to us "I have fixed the leak." Evidence now overwhelmingly suggests he hasn't!! It's scary how much damage a small amount of water can do...

Left the oven on for most of the afternoon... Not only is baby brain a little dangerous, it also means I'm losing out on 'things I can nag dh about because I know I don't do them'. Left the car unlocked all night too...

Sassy20 · 24/12/2013 19:11

Finally sitting down after a hectic day! Had my 32 week scan today - baby growing well and currently around 4lbs! Placenta still low so they will reassess at my 34 week scan and then start to make plans - all scarily close now but exciting as well Grin

rueyrichardson · 25/12/2013 04:08

Merry Christmas to everyone! Have given up on sleep and am considering getting up and starting breakfast preparations. Insomnia rather than over excitement! Have an amazing day!

EeyoreIsh · 25/12/2013 05:22

Merry Christmas preggos Grin

Awake early with a rumbling stomach. It would be really bad to make a start on the mince pies already, right...

jazzcat28 · 25/12/2013 05:27

Merry Christmas fabulous preggos! Am wide awake thanks to insomnia and parents clattering around in the kitchen.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and manage to put all your house/baby related woes to one side for a few hours.

This time next year we will be up to fill stockings and tend to our 10mth old babies!!!!

tinypolkadot · 25/12/2013 07:01

Merry Christmas everybody! Have a wonderful day. I'm waiting for dh to get up so we can open pressies!

jazz I can't get over the fact that christmasses will be v different from now on, eek! Can't wait!

Sassy20 · 25/12/2013 08:45

Merry Christmas everyone. As a special present my dd let me have a sleep in and only got up 15 mins ago. Grin

sunflowered · 25/12/2013 09:35

Merry Christmas! Hope everyone has a lovely day and those of you with excited children already running around the house get a few moments of calm during the day Smile

eeyore I was just thinking about a mince pie for breakfast... It's not that different from a pain au chocolat if you think about it...
