You other mothers can't deny,
When a girl walks in with an ever expanding waist
And a round thing in your face
You....'d better give her some cake....

etc, etc,

New thread! Enjoy!

Me too Julietee I find it so hard sitting at my desk all day at work because of it...thank f-ck I only have four days left!

Finally did some xmas shopping today but it was sooo busy it ended up being a bit much. Am now yucked up in bed with a hobnobs flapjack - it's amazing!

Thingymajigs · 14/12/2013 21:02

I can definitely recommend The Hobbit part 2. It bares little resemblance to the book but it was really well paced. Long though be prepared to get a sore bum. Baby didn't seem bothered by the noise but went crazy when the Malteasers sugar rush hit him. He had a good kick of my ribs for most of the film.
I can't believe that some of you are Christmas shopping on a Saturday. Very brave. We had to walk through the shopping centre and I was knocked all over the place. I'm so glad I got all of mine done in November and most of that online.

Unplastered · 14/12/2013 21:15

Urh, baby seems to have wedged itself under my ribs tonight and it's soooo uncomfortable. I remember this feeling well from last time, didn't get it till the last couple of weeks then though.

Unplastered · 14/12/2013 21:50

I want a birth like the girl on Casualty.
One push. That's all it took!

bugsyburge · 14/12/2013 22:46

eugh joining you with the insomnia.... I'm normally an excellent sleeper, could sleep through a war but by 5am I'm wide awake nowadays Envy

had a very productive day though, I've cleaned the house, I've washed & dried the sofa cushions, I've cleared and organised all my kitchen cupboards, finished my Xmas shopping & wrapped all but 2 presents...I love days like today Smile

those clementines sound amazing, will deffo give those a try!!!

well done on the masters, that's great going whilst preggers!!!!

looking forward to some kip now!!!

night all

Littleen · 14/12/2013 22:51

Hello again ladies! I've got internet again now, starting to get settled in our new flat. It's very nice, but I am so stressed out that I keep throwing hissy fits -.- then I get pissed off at myself for getting pissed off. It's all very annoying frankly! Hopefully can calm down this week when most of the work has been done, so I can be 'me' again! Anyone else get like that? I just don't recognize myself behaving like some sort of spoilt brat ><

Hope everyone is doing well, and don't give any spoilers for the hobbit please, although I've read the book so know how it ends! Want to see it soon!

Little one in here is active as per usual and seems more than happy in our new home :) A friend of mine got to feel him kick for the first time today, she got very excited and broody :P hehe!

Littleen · 14/12/2013 22:54

Oh and btw - my other half has been amazing since moving! Sorting out everything!

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 15/12/2013 06:36

Yay welcome back Littleen Grin

EeyoreIsh · 15/12/2013 07:09

Good to have you back litleen Smile

Another early morning, but at least I made it through to 5 before waking. And then lovely DH made me breakfast in bed at 6 as he knows I get really hungry in the morning.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 15/12/2013 08:22

I've been making Xmas cards with DS since 7am. Glitter everywhere and he lost interest after the 1st 5 mins!!

EeyoreIsh · 15/12/2013 13:54

33 weeks today and apparently baby's brain is fully developed. It's amazing!

Baby currently jumping around to show its appreciation of chocolate cake Grin

Julietee · 15/12/2013 14:20

LO has been so quiet these last few days, I still feel him squirm now and then but there are no kick fits :( I'm worried but trying not to be - DH keeps saying 'he's fiiine!'.

So jealous of those of you 3 weeks ahead - I just turned 30 weeks today, I fear the next 10 ish weeks are going to draaaaag.

marzipanned · 15/12/2013 15:29

Welcome back littleen!

I enjoyed Hobbit Part 2 as well, though the Hobbit films are just nowhere near, for me, as brilliant as the LOTR ones. Baby is generally quite active at cinema, but that's no doubt the popcorn effect rather than the noise effect. Today she and I played musical bumps at a kids' Christmas party and she didn't seem bothered at all. (Bloody hell that was exhausting!)

Julietee I'd imagine it's his position and size? All the guidance says as long as you feel movement of some sort, that's the important thing - less important what sort. I very rarely get full on kicks any more but when we had scan on Sat she looked completely squished so no wonder really! More often I feel her press into me or squirm around a little bit.

So after all the terrible commuting stories, this week I've had two people give up or find seats for me and one let me go in front of her at the supermarket! Lovely people!

winterflowers · 15/12/2013 17:34

Welcome back littleen glad the move went well and your OH is helping out lots :)

Julietee I only hit 30 weeks next week as well. Feels like such a milestone! At least we have xmas to break up the next 10 weeks (and only 7 till full term!). My LO is decidedly squirmy and I rarely ever get proper kicks. I can see her moving tho, which I love.

CubanoHabana · 15/12/2013 18:06

30 weeks today for me!

With being off ill on Friday, I managed 35 hours of sleep in 2 days - clearly needed it!

Felt a lot better today, so braved metro centre.... Got there half an hour before it opened and only just managed to get a parking space! But all presents now bought (although ended up having to online shop a lot of it). I to ended up in pain in the bump and having to hold bump as we walked around because I felt like it was going to be born!

Walking is killing me though!

sunflowered · 15/12/2013 19:06

Welcome back littleen - hope you're settling into the new place and enjoying getting nursery stuff sorted as well as the more boring unpacking Smile

Julietee I was 30 weeks yesterday and noticed definite changes in movement over the last few days. More squirming, less defined whacks. Think it's partly space but also partly getting used to the feeling - was lying in bed this morning with a ball of wool on my lap and what felt like a light kick moved the wool through dressing gown and thick duvet! I'll be keeping you company in 10 weeks time though (would put money on still being preg in 11 weeks+ while others on here are enjoying first smiles and growing out of newborn clothes...)

Have spent most of today on the sofa today after being on my feet pretty much all day yesterday - back and hips were protesting today.

Julietee · 15/12/2013 19:26

Yay for the 30 week brigade! I'm hoping to be the 7-8 week brigade, but I guess it'll be what it'll be.

I've spent the entire afternoon/ evening thus far on the sofa and feeling bored/ lazy. I'm almost looking forward to LO's arrival so I'll have actual stuff to do, which I'm sure I will regret ever saying when the time comes.

I'm wondering if I can get through the next weeks with what maternity wear I already have, because all my leggings are thin and aren't going to hold up to proper winter very well.
Does anyone have recommendations for warm mat trousers/ leggings?

I've also ordered a swimming costume (and will be buying an electric razor/ trimmer - any recommendations there too?) so I can switch up walking with swimming when my body increasingly says 'No joy!' to walking.

DawnOfTheDee · 15/12/2013 19:53

I finished work on friday! Such a nice feeling but hasn't really sunk in yet. I don't think it will till after Christmas tbh as lots more people are off work/around at this time of year anyway. Last time it was Jan that I properly felt like i'd 'left'.

Work was nice and they gave me a voucher for a Clarins pregnancy pamper and £30 of high street vouchers too! I'm going to get booked in asap.

I really need to rant about my IL's at the moment but tbh it'd take me too long to write it down and i'm too pissed off right now. Basically we keep being let down due to the fact they are spending the majority of their time, energy and money on dh's middle brother and his kids. I feel bad for dh but even more so for my dd. We always get the fuzzy end of the lollipop. Not sure why but it's horrible to see. Urgh. DH stood up to them this time though but in a v assertive way. I was very proud of him. Won't make a blind bit of difference but i'm glad we don't just let them do this to us without comment thereby normalising their behaviour.

Grrrrrr.......ok that was a bit of a rant and rambled on bit but i feel a bit better for it.

Evening ladies.
Is 8.30 too early for bed on a Sunday now that Downton has finished?

LittlePandaBear · 15/12/2013 21:18

Judging by the silence, maybe everyone else is in bed after all!

I'm waiting for the end of the X Factor final first...

Have been trying to catch up on the thread - pleased for those who have finished work, nice and scary at the same time I guess. I only have 9 days left and as each day passes I get more excited and my boss gets more nervous. I've already started handover with my replacement so everything will be fine.

Had a few 'near the end' moments this week. Buying more preggo vitamins, on 3 for 2 in Boots, and I realised I only needed 2 months worth of the pregnancy ones and so I got one pack of the 'new mum' vitamins. I've also booked my DD on her dancing group for the next half term and realised I'll have the baby somewhere in the middle of it! Don't want her to miss out though so DH will just have to take her if I can't!

I'm still feeling okay but have got an increasingly achy back this week and am uncomfortable in bed however I lie and on the sofa. I think I'm better walking about (just not up stairs - get so out of breath).

Baby has been kicking/squirming/punching lots in the evenings. The minute I've eaten something I get a kick - I can't believe it gets to him so fast! I'm trying to saviour having my bump as I'm not planning to get pregnant again after this so want to remember the feelings.

This week ahead I have my 32 week midwife appointment with whooping cough jab, another work Xmas party and then I have two weeks off work for Xmas.

Hope everyone has a good, non stressful and non-feeling rubbish week. XX

marzipanned · 15/12/2013 21:44

I'm in bed! Watching the WORST Christmas film ever - 'Anything but Christmas.' However, it's jolly and I need jolly as DH is overseas on business again and I can't watch scary or sad if he's not here!

LPB That's funny about the vits, I have just the right amount to get me to EDD on bedside table. Visual pregnancy countdown!

Dawn sorry you're having such a rubbish time with the ILs. Good for your DH standing up to them. Who knows, maybe they'll finally get interested in your family with arrival of new baby?! Or perhaps too much to hope for.. Not on the same level at all, but my MIL has taken to calling the baby "my baby". It is starting to grate on me a touch!

Julietee I pretty much live in my maternity jeans, very toasty. Can't recommend a place to buy from though as I got them abroad. Wrt to trimming, I just do it with a pair of little scissors (guess they are meant to be nail scissors?!) and luckily my bikini bottoms are basically large enough to cover the offending areas!

KalevalaForMePlease · 15/12/2013 21:52

Hi everyone, I haven't been on for ages it seems, but just wanted to come on and commiserate with Jazz, I've just been diagnosed with GD as well. Had a few days of blaming myself and going over and over all the things I've been eating, but I'm starting to come to terms with it all now.

I have my midwife and doctors appointments this week as well, and will get a monitor to start taking my bloods during the day, so the fun can really begin!

EeyoreIsh · 15/12/2013 22:24

jazz, kalevala, sorry to hear you've both got GD, I hope it doesn't cause you too many problems.

dawn I spent the first day off last week feeling a bit weird about finishing work but I've got into the swing of it so far. It helps that there's lots to do over the house so I've had things to do each day. I have to do a bit of a work tomorrow, and then Tuesday go into London for last time in a year.

I'm so tired, I hope I sleep beyond 5am tmw...

gnittinggnome · 15/12/2013 22:29

kalevala sorry to hear you've got GD as well. Please don't blame yourself, it's just your body getting a little muddled. My skin is super-dry and sensitive at the moment, which is just my hormones - my GD is like that. I felt bad when I was diagnosed, but it's the most common medical issue pregnant women have to deal with, and there's really nothing you can do to prevent it. Managing it is fun (!) but possible, and if not and you need medication that's not a massive problem either. At least this way you'll get lots of extra checks and scans!

Shropshiremummy2B · 15/12/2013 22:47

marzi no where near as bad as your situation but DH and I always referred to the baby as the badger..... Until MIL took it on and now always asks "how's badger?!". Totally ruined it for me. Now I want to slap her and say "it's a fucking baby you moron".

It's so odd that as some of you turn 30 weeks I'm turning 34 at the end of the week. I must always remember to have babies due at the beggining of the month as I'm sooooo impatient. Nice to know I'm not going any later than valentines day.

Yikes I'm tired. I wish I could nap. I don't have that ability to take myself off for a snooze knowing there's a squillion other things that need doing. A problem DH does not suffer from.
