You other mothers can't deny,
When a girl walks in with an ever expanding waist
And a round thing in your face
You....'d better give her some cake....

etc, etc,

New thread! Enjoy!

God sorry Jazz - posted the recipe without catching up on the thread. A bit insensitively timed! Sorry to hear about your GD and hope it's not too much of a pain in the arse to manage. Not too long to go now at least... you'll have to have a second christmas after the baby is born and feast on sugar and booze! (tell your DH you will also require a second round of presents for authenticity)

laura0007 · 13/12/2013 20:04

That sucks jazz but at least you can get another scan.
Marzi I'm also measuring a week behind and baby is definitely head up!

misskatamari · 13/12/2013 20:37

Sorry to hear about the GD jazz Hmm that sucks. Hopefully you don't find it too hard to manage and hopefully the time will fly by. Second Christmas sounds like a fab idea too!

Notone - thanks for the recipe - looks yummy! Do they turn out kind of like sweets then?

Great news about the mat cover Harlem! Although a shame about the lack of pud - I hope you rocked it for the rest of the day!

Phew I don't know how some of you are still commuting and being so busy at work - I went to do last bits of chrimbo shopping in Manchester today and it was so tiring and horrid! Does anyone else find they get light headed really easily? I think it might be when I get a bit overheated - had to had a few sit downs as felt a bit woozy. Took bloody forever getting round town too as it appears I can't walk at a speed faster than "old lady trying not to wee herself" lol. I think I managed to get every thing I need pretty much though, besides maybe some bottles of wine, so that's a relief. Now I must try and get the presents I'm making finished Confused.

Gosh I realised before I'm 33 weeks tomorrow - that means I'm classed as full term in 4 weeks ShockShockShock scary stuff!

jazzcat28 · 13/12/2013 21:06

Thanks for all the lovely messages! notone don't worry about the recipe - looks yum and well worth sharing! Loving the idea of a 2nd Xmas too...

gnitting thanks for all the tips, might take you up on the offer of a pm once I've had my consultation on Tuesday in case I need any more. I'm trying to focus on the up sides (possible early birth, extra scans and a healthier Xmas meaning less weight gain) and throw myself into organising stuff which isn't done yet. I am Monica Geller and will clean and organise to cheer myself up! Need to sort hospital bag and blankets then I'll feel better.

In more positive news we have our refurbished cot from my parents up in the nursery now and it looks fab. Just need to order my made to measure mattress now. Also graduated today from masters and that sense of pride felt amazing!

cubano glad to hear you've got a ml cover in place, that must be one weight off your shoulders.

misskat I'm getting breathless getting up/down stairs so feeling your pain!

jazzcat28 · 13/12/2013 21:08

Oops sorry it's harlem with the ml cover, my mistake!

notoneforselfies · 13/12/2013 21:40

ooh congrats on the graduation jazzcat!
I'm shattered. Today I've made candied clementines (yes - they're like natural fruit pastilles misskat), marzipan and blueberry muffins and brandy snaps, been out to buy packaging and put it all together (with apple and cranberry chutney and damson gin), made it look pretty, been out and bought a Chirstmas tree and decorated and done all the housework and laundry. I have the most swollen cancels ever.
Does anyone else feel really claustrophobic in their own body? I feel like I have too much blood in my veins (esp in my neck), too much fluid everywhere so I'm all swollen, squished lungs etc etc. I just get really claustrophobic and panicky sometimes and have to keep having moments where I stretch out and concentrate on breathing. Horrid.

misskatamari · 13/12/2013 21:51

Wow notone - that is a productive day and a half! Your hampers sound amazing too!

Congrats on your graduation jazz! Do you know what kind of mattress you are ordering? We need to get one for our cosleeper and I've been looking at foam ones on babymattressonline - but I am so confused about all the different options for coverings as there are so many different ones to pick from Confused

HarlemWobble · 14/12/2013 03:39

3.30am and wide awake. Thank god for MN!

Notone you're productivity puts me to shame! I've bought no presents (except our secret Santa) and we have no Xmas tree. Hoping to make good progress on the decorating this weekend though and get the living room somewhat liveable.

Misskat I'm looking at mattresses for our crib and must say am a bit overwhelmed by the choice. All I do know is that I'd like an extra removable cover for when one is in the wash... Other than that I'm stumped! Recommendations very much welcome!

HarlemWobble · 14/12/2013 03:40

Your not you're obvs!

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 14/12/2013 03:50

Confused I'm here too Harlem. Wide awake and DS will be up in 2 hours.

notoneforselfies · 14/12/2013 05:09

Giving up tossing and turning. Time for a cuppa.

Ugh DS didn't give me 2 hours. He was up at 5.45. It's going to be a loooong day because this guarantees that he's going to have lots of meltdowns ConfusedConfused

I don't know if it makes me feel better or worse that I'm not alone with pregnancy insomnia. Thursday night I slept for 5 hours straight but woke up in a twisted position as my body tried to sleep on my front without squishing the baby. I feel sorry for baby, he can't have much space as it is without me squashing him.
notone, I felt squashed last week like I couldn't catch my breath so I tried some yoga. The position which pushed out my chest and expanded the ribcage made me feel almost euphoric. It feels so good to get a full deep breath. Perhaps that might help a bit.
Ds2 is fully booked up at various parties and sleepovers this week so it'll be pretty quiet. We've decided to take ds1 to watch the hobbit at the imax this afternoon. I know that cinema trips become a rarity with babies so we're planning a couple of cinema trips with the kids this month.
Anyone else planning any last trimester trips out? I really should organise a date night with DP in January thinking about it...

EeyoreIsh · 14/12/2013 08:02

Another one with the pregnancy insomnia. I drop off ok but then I wake up at 2, 4, 5.30 etc! I'm finding it easier to cope with since stopping work. I really wanted some toast at 4.30 but our house is a building assult course so I didn't trust myself to get it without injuring myself Grin

I baked a chocolate bundt cake in a new bundt tin I bought, but it is now stuck in the tin Sad I really don't want to scratch the fun getting it out so I think I'll have to break up the cake Sad Big baking fail.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 14/12/2013 08:10

Thingy - DH and I plan to go see the hobbit one evening over the next fortnight as a final date night before baby arrives Smile

Aside from that, not much planned. I'm so tired, massive and uncomfortable now I'm just counting down the days (39 left until due date Grin)

marzipanned · 14/12/2013 09:29

I should have come online last night, the pregnancy insomnia is back with a vengeance! Not assisted by DH coming home very drunk from his Christmas party at about 3am and having the audacity to try to hug me (drunken fumes plus pregnant woman does not a happy bed make!)

jazz Congratulations on your graduation!! You are my inspiration!
(She says, still with 5,500 words to write...)

eeyore get out as big chunks as you can, then you can either make sundaes with them or stick them back together with copious amounts of frosting...no such thing as a baking fail as long as the goods are still edible :)

misskat I ordered from that website for the replacement carrycot mattress; to be honest, I just went for the most basic option. I know you can order lovely organic ones and all these sorts of things but I think as long as the mattress meets safety requirements (which they all do on there) then you might as well just make life simple for yourself!
And the mattress has arrived and seems absolutely fine (much nicer than the Arms Reach one, anyway!)

We're hoping to go and see The Hobbit today post NCT bf class. Have a lovely Saturday all!

winterflowers · 14/12/2013 10:19

Congrats jazz! 5500 words must be half way there marzi you can definitely do it.

notone sounds an amazingly productive day, and thanks for posting the recipe in absolutely going to make the clementines. If you eat enough do they still count as ine if your five a day? Xmas Grin

And sorry to hear about the gd jazz but good to know before the food overload of Christmas so you can take charge a bit. And pigs in blankets aren't carby are they? So you can eat heaps of them and that's a winner :)

misskatamari · 14/12/2013 13:05

Good plan on the mattress Marzi - I know were gonna go for the bog standard foam one - will probably just try and pick one of the simpler covers (but not just the PVC one as want it to be breathable).

Harlem - this is the website that I've found - with the crazy array of covers

Eeyore sorry to hear about the stuck cake - Just bung some custard of ice cream with it though and no-one will care!

Thingy - We're hoping DH can take some holiday time after Christmas so we can do some nice stuff together before the baby.Cinema and meals out seem like good options. I'd like to get away for a night here or there, but part of me just thinks BAD IDEA as i'm sure i'd just end up bloody knackered and moany waddling around whatever place we decided to go to! We shall see.

Oooh i managed to actually make preggo yoga this morning and found out they do monthly "partner sessions" where both of you go and learn relaxation, breathing and massage techniques. The next ones are either tomorrow or 26th Jan though so poor DH has now been roped into yet more baby things tomorrow. Feel bad as he's sooo busy at work (he's in today again after working 15 hour days all week) - but he seemed all for going, bless him. Hoping to make a nice roast for tea (which hopefully he will be home for) as a bit of a thank you. And also because i just want to eat a big giant roast! Grin

Hope those of you with the dreaded insomnia are feeling okay and can try to take it a bit easy today!

EeyoreIsh · 14/12/2013 13:42

Oh dear, my nesting instinct has gone crazy today and I'm getting really stressed about the state of the house. In trying really hard to keep it under control but it's hard!

Everything is so messy, we still have plaster dust everywhere Sad

camwombat · 14/12/2013 14:13

I so should have come on here in the night. DS was up for hours with sore ears and generally being a pain so we were watching Thomas in the night.

Crib mattress wise, we have gone for the same mattress as last time which is 12.99 (I think) from Babies r us, with a crib sheet over it. A wipe clean surface is perfect at 3am when baby has been sick or a nappy has leaked....

Cake wise, I agree break it out and add a bit of custard. I am a convert and use a cake release spray now so I don't damage my lovely tins!

Good news on all the mat leave replacements, sorry to hear about the GD though. Now DS is napping I'm off to bed for half an hour....

Julietee · 14/12/2013 17:42

Went for a walk into town with DH today, which would have been lovely if not for horrible discomfort and shortness of breath. I've worked out a good description of what I'm feeling - it's like someone's inflated a balloon inside my bump, especially at the top and then any walking/ sitting in one position is horribly uncomfortable and I want to go and lie down. Anyone else get this?
What's weird is I've been able to walk for exercise all week and I thought this particular symptom might be going away, or controllable, but apparently not :(
I could imagine feeling that way all the time at 37+ weeks, but I'm only just a day away from 30 weeks! It seems unfair! It seems to get worse after I've eaten, so I don't know if it's bloating, baby position, too much fluid or some f-d up combo of all of those.

Does anyone worry about the loudness of cinema trips for the womb dwellers?

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 14/12/2013 20:00

Julietee yes I have the same ballooned feeling. When I have Braxton's it's like I'm a puffer fish!!

I'm so uncomfortable now and just want to not be pregnant anymore!

Here's hoping we all get some decent rest tonight preggos Thanks

camwombat · 14/12/2013 20:26

We went to see Love Never Dies when I was 7 months pregnant, and saw apocalypse now at cinema when I was 38weeks (it was my birthday treat). Baby seemed relatively happy throughout both, apart from sitting on my bladder throughout the film.
