Hello!

So I'm actually due around 27th July but I went two weeks overdue with my first so I'm pretty sure this will be an August baby Smile

Is there anyone else who is newly pregnant and would like to join me?

Hi polka. Is this your first?

Polkadot1 · 06/12/2013 19:29

Hi travis no, got a little boy who's 13 months, and very cute! But I'm 40 next year, hence the small age gap! What about you?

isitnearlyteatime · 06/12/2013 19:37

so pleased you'll get your prescription soon Holly - that must be a relief for you - do hope you feel much better soon

Im very much hoping like you say that Im one of the few that lack the symptoms as Im starting to really worry where my symptoms are :(
Have heard that few symptoms are not good so am panicking but just trying to take one day at a time

reassuring to hear that your boobs didn't get bigger - mine are exactly the same - a slight wave of nausea this pm but probably because I ate far too much!

mrsmusic · 06/12/2013 19:55

Hello ladies, can I join?
Got bfp yesterday - have a 4 year old dd; been feeling a bit 'weird' and having really mild cramps for a couple of weeks so finally did a test (well, 2 to be sure!) last night!
Got an appointment with the doc next Friday which seems ages away then I've no idea how long it'll take to get the scan date through, but I'm not sure really how many weeks I'm likely to be.

I came off the pill in August, had a period in the second week of September and haven't since. The weird thing is, I felt pretty sure I was ovulating at the end of September but then had the same thing during one week sometime late October, but no period in-between.

travispickles · 06/12/2013 20:27

So

travispickles · 06/12/2013 20:31

Wrt my job, I need advice. Am a teacher so August birth really badly planned for mat leave! I am currently working 4 day week so I have a day off a week with DD. should I ask if I can go back to full time in Sept before I tell them am pregnant. A full time wage is the only way I will be able to take more than 3 months off! But will they've really annoyed that I have gone full time with no intention of working it? Should I care?!

mrsmusic · 06/12/2013 20:47

Hi there, I'm a teacher too. I'm not sure how it'd work to be honest - would you not have to pay back the extra payments you got for the extra day a week you then wouldn't be working? They could refuse you part time when you go back. Sorry I can't be more help.
My dd was August-born and this might sound awful but her going to school this September a month after she's turned 4 has potentially saved us hundreds of pounds in childcare.
Btw, congratulations :-)

travispickles · 06/12/2013 20:54

Thanks! I suppose; it's just that my partner is only part time and we can barely make ends meet. I wouldn't be able to afford any time off at the moment. Was a bit of an accident, so gutted that half of my 6 weeks mat pay in hols :-(. Thanks for your reply, I hadn't thought of that.

travispickles · 06/12/2013 20:54

And also I am leading a school trip to Paris in July. Would it be silly to go?

mrsmusic · 06/12/2013 21:00

I ran a trip to Sweden when I was 6 months and all was fine; I didn't slow down until the end (big end of year concert a few days before I had dd) but not sure I could have done an abroad trip at 8 months tbh! How long is it for? Could you go with the idea that you're going to do it but have a plan B (ie. someone else to lead the trip and another member of staff to go) if necessary nearer the time?

Sconeintheoven · 06/12/2013 21:01

Thought I might timidly poke my head above the parapet and say hello.
I'm 6+2 weeks and supposedly due July 30th, but that seems a ridiculous journey away. I've had 3 miscarriages this year and now just trying to make it to Wednesday when I will have my first scan at 7 weeks. Feel sick a lot - at first I thought it was just nerves, but now is full blown nausea. Am embracing it and hating it all at the same time.
Good luck to everyone in their pregnancies. These really are very anxious times for us all. It's tough trying to remain positive while preparing yourself for heartbreak.

Sconeintheoven · 06/12/2013 21:05

Oh and meant to add I have a 2 year old dd who is just brilliant and makes all of this worthwhile. I really hope I can give her a little sis or bro.

travispickles · 06/12/2013 21:11

Thanks mrsm. Advice much welcomed. Hi scone am sure this one will stick! But yes, difficult not to worry. I am feeling better than I did which worries me :-(

Sconeintheoven · 06/12/2013 21:28

Just typed a load and lost it. But yes, symptom spotting is where madness lies.

funnyfish2 · 06/12/2013 21:54

sconeintheoven , wishing you all the most wonderful and reassuring news this wednesday! i had one MC earlier this year and i can barely manage my anxiety with this pregnancy, so i can only imagine how unbearably tough it's been for you. glad you have a DC that gives you smiles and hope!

Sconeintheoven · 06/12/2013 22:05

Thank you Funny. I'm really sorry to hear that you've been through it too. It truly sucks. I'm amazed how many ladies on here have had miscarriages. And I'm really sorry for possibly spooking those who haven't.. The odds are very much in your favour that everything will work out fine.

funnyfish2 · 06/12/2013 22:06

travis, i went on a ten day work trip to South Africa when I was 33 weeks pregnant. It was tough but do-able. I also went on the Eurostar to Paris when I was 38 weeks, though I insisted on a business class seat b-c they really are more roomy and comfortable. In general, train trips are much easier late in pregnancy than plane.

Also for a Paris trip, make sure you have health insurance or your EHIC card (if you're an EU citizen) sorted out, it's good to know in the back of your mind that you can get medical care in the rare case it's necessary. I know from personal experience that the French medical system, while very good, is also terribly bureaucratic so it's important to make sure your documents are in order so they don't slap you with a ridiculously expensive bill.

talulahbelle · 06/12/2013 22:37

So today - definitely more sickness, good. Also some brown/yellow/reddish spotting when I wiped.
So very worried and scared, heading to bed to try and relax.
I'm 7 weeks tomorrow. Next scan at 8+2.

eeyore2911 · 06/12/2013 22:48

Like the fbook idea Smile I'm feeling v pukey, only been sick once but constant nausea is driving me bonkers!!!! Never had an inkling of it with either of my boys...Only thing that makes me feel less pukey is full fat coke.... I'm not exactly svelte so that's really going to bloody help. Confused

Howly · 07/12/2013 05:41

Awake early, on a weekend, feeling sick! It's horrible! My first pregnancy and I already don't like it, 7 weeks today!

HungryHorace · 07/12/2013 06:51

It's not compulsory to enjoy pregnancy, thankfully! I'm not its biggest fan. It's bloody worthwhile at the end though :-)

DD has just slept for 7.5 hours. Longest stretch yet. Hopefully we are finally getting somewhere now!

Did my morning OPK as HPT and the test line was so dark and strong that I decided it was worth doing my last FRER, which also has a dark and strong test line. Both came up quicker and darker than the control line so feeling a bit happier today about increasing hcg levels.

How are you today Talulah? Did you get much sleep?

Howly · 07/12/2013 07:14

So pleased for you hungry ! It's great when the lines come up straight away, after spending weeks squinting at a fuzzy faint line!

I'm watching one born every minute 'what happens next' and getting a lovely feeling of 'it's all worth it'!!

Telling my younger brother I'm pregnant today as mum is scared she's gonna let it slip, very excited!

HungryHorace · 07/12/2013 08:26

I think I'd be an emotional wreck watching that.

Post partum hormones are bad enough on their own. Now I'm pregnant again I may end up in a soggy meltdown!

How old is your brother, Howly?

PinaColadas · 07/12/2013 08:35

Hello newbies, scone I've only had one MC and am beyond obsessive and panicking so can't imagine how you're feeling, all we can do is take a day at a time I guess.

Thought I'd update you all on my attempt to pretend to drink to trick my colleagues.... Well it bombed, and I must say they are absolute twats and I'm pretty annoyed with them really. (I'd told a close friend colleague so she could try and help because I trust her) anyway, one asked me straight out had to deny and then a group of 2 girls came over and sniffed my drink then gave me a clever dick look. I never gave in but really I wanted to scream at them to piss off and that if I wanted to tell them I would!!! I'm so cross. I've also no doubt that everyone in the office along with a few othe people (as the main gossip I worry about knows me outside of work) will know and it really upsets me. Completely out of my control.
I don't know what I would have done without my other friend, I think she managed to convince them a bit but it's hard.

talulahbelle · 07/12/2013 08:36

Hi horace I slept surprisingly well, except for the nightly pee wakes. Is anyone else having really vivid dreams though? Not pregnancy related ones, just bizarre.
My CM is still tinged a pinky brown, so I'm going to have a quiet weekend and hope the spotting stops.
How's everyone else today?
