Okay I don't like to run out of things, even threads, so here's the new one.

Can't remember who described their baby kicking like an octopus but it's very true :)

I've never even heard of slapped cheek, yikes. Hope all is well Somany.

LovesToBake · 15/11/2013 22:14

Thingy I think you'll be absolutely fine with a chest of drawers. DS is 21 months and we have done absolutely fine with one small built-in cupboard (with nappy change surface on top) so the clothes are in little piles in there. I guess it would be different for a girl as you might want to hang dresses? As long as you pack away the clothes as soon as they've grown out of them, you don't need much space for their 'current' capsule wardrobe I would say!

Re. DTD I honestly think it's been 3 or 4 times since our BFP. One was this week when I totally out of the blue woke up presumably from a rather nice dream (!) and pounced on DH but other than that I am never in the mood and always too tired. Luckily he doesn't seem to mind too much!

Unplastered · 15/11/2013 23:03

Opinions on Seren as a girls name please?
DH has decided he likes it but I really don't. It's Welsh and we are not, for a start! He also suggested Lincoln for a boy, which just makes me think of stovepipe hats and beards... Need to steer him kindly towards something better!

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 16/11/2013 07:26

Dropped off thread so just marking place.

pettyprudence · 16/11/2013 07:34

unplastered I like seren (being welsh) but there are an awful lot of them over the border Smile my friend went with another variation, Seirian, but that might be a bit too welsh if you are just looking for a nod to Wales Grin

EeyoreIsh · 16/11/2013 07:55

I love seren, it's cute. I don't think it's obviously Welsh, there are lots of names that mean something in a different language.

lastnight how are you doing?

Awake early this morning, feeling so much better now I've caught up on sleep (went to bed before ten last night, party animal that I am!). I caught sight of my bump in the mirror, it's like a proper pregnant bump Grin my ribs are disappearing behind the bumpage!

EeyoreIsh · 16/11/2013 07:56

mind you unplastered if you don't like the name then you should veto it!

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 16/11/2013 08:11

Hi eeyoreish. Tough time for me still, plus today was my due date for baby I lost in March so been keeping a low profile. Finally the suicide note from my sister has arrived from the coroner and my dad is bringing it to me on Monday to read. There's a whole section addressed to me so I am dreading it/looking forward to reading it in equal measures. Not really accepted her death yet but I think it should hit me when I see the note.

Anyway, as you were - sorry to be so heavy!

Thisisfreakingmeout · 16/11/2013 08:25

lastnight
I can't imagine what you're feeling but not going to read and run. Sorry for this horrible time for you.
Do whatever you need to get through

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 16/11/2013 08:27

I'm ok - I'm just in robot mode. Just wishing DS hadn't turned into a threenager overnight, he's so argumentative and demanding at the moment!!

EeyoreIsh · 16/11/2013 08:32

lastnight that sounds like a lot to be going through. Can you do something to mark the EDD of the baby you lost? Go easy on yourself and allow yourself the time to grieve your baby and your sister. Flowers

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 16/11/2013 08:36

I don't really feel like doing anything to be honest. Just distract myself I think. Feeling so ratty and impatient at the moment which is a mixture of tiredness and hormones, just looking forward to getting through November (it's my sisters birthday next weekend) and focus on more positive things Smile

misskatamari · 16/11/2013 08:45

Lastnight - look after yourself at the moment. Thinking of you with everything you're going through xxx

winterflowers · 16/11/2013 08:54

Hugs lastnight Thanks it sounds like a really tough month for you. Just keep thinking of the bundle of joy you are carrying and all the goodness of feb to come.

somany hope you're doing ok. So many of these things are worse early on when baby is still developibg whereas ours are much more at the get fat and make it more pain to push out stage. But what cam suggested is a good idea and may put your mind at rest.

Hope everyone going to nearly new sales get lots of good and exciting bargains and thanks and more thanks to all the second and third timers for all the advice you keep imparting

bugsyburge · 16/11/2013 09:46

morning all, just catching up on the past few days...

I too am enjoying pregnancy, it has so far been better than I thought it would be but I have to say that the bit I have always feared is actually giving birth. I really do admire you ladies who are having challenging & difficult times, particularly when you have children to look after too.

shrops your lifestyle sounds to be my idea of heaven.... I grew up as a proper city girl but me & DH would love to move out to a Georgian house in the country....particularly Shropshire as we got married there so have a fondness for it.

I'm an only child and I have to say that I don't think I missed out on anything; it always encouraged me to go out and make friends or develop my own imaginative games Grin . I think I'd be quite happy with just the one but equally I always envisaged having 3.... I think I'll see how this one goes and report back!!!!

bugsyburge · 16/11/2013 10:30

does anyone know how you get the free boots changing bag? I made myself a note to pick one up but didn't write down how you actually go about getting one!!!Envy

laura0007 · 16/11/2013 11:17

Hi bugsy you have to join their parenting club, then they send you a load of vouchers including the one for the changing bag!

Awww don't worry Champagne - moan away! We can be the preggos in the whinging corner, jealous of all the glowing preggos Wink

Oh my god the nct sale was AMAZING! We ended up first in the members queue and we got so much stuff! Our mouths were hanging open when they cashed it all up and it came to £48! Got clothes, cot bumper, breast pads (80 for a quid!!), dribble bibs, changing bag, breast pump (lol yeah I'm not classy ill use a second hand one!) plus stuff I can't even remember. DH was so surprised - he was expecting it to be rubbish but got really into it Smile. Honestly ladies - check out when your nearby ones are and get down there! So many ridiculous bargains to be had!!!

notoneforselfies · 16/11/2013 11:51

Picked up another sodding cold. Don't know how seeing as I rarely leave the house. Bleurgh. Lying in bed feeling like shite while DH clears out the loft. Bit perturbed he's going to fall through the ceiling on to me but not enough to actually move. I miss decongestants so so much.

LovesToBake · 16/11/2013 12:52

Just found out that the one really strong candidate we interviewed for my maternity cover has turned the job down. They suspect it's because he's nervous to give up a permanent role at a big organisation for a punt on a maternity cover. To be honest I also don't think they offered him enough money to make the leap of faith worth his while. Feeling fed up about it on the one hand but also weirdly detached as I'm increasingly feeling that it's really not my problem any more. The organisation has take such a huge hit from a recent restructure that morale is rock bottom and I just can't wait to get away from the place. Makes me a bit sad though as I've had 7.5 mostly happy and fulfilled years there and don't want to end on a low note...

Anyone else got their maternity cover lined up yet and will you have a handover? They'll try and get someone via an agency now but I'm hoping it will be too late for a handover to be honest, just want to write a few handover notes and walk away.

On a brighter note, the flapjacks I made this morning are bloody delicious and we have also inflated the birthing pool today to check it seems ok!

I'm with you on the countdown Champs - I met up with a friend yesterday with her 3 week old DD2. Her first DD was born at 38 weeks. This one was born at 42 weeks. That's a whole extra month of being pregnant which terrifies me. Because DS was born at 37+4 I've sort of shifted my countdown to around then for this pregnancy, but really need to mentally prepare myself that I could have many more weeks after that. Aaaargh!

EeyoreIsh · 16/11/2013 13:32

Off to a 'Sling meet' shortly, bribing DH to come with the promise of tea and cake! I'm a little nervous, I'm not v good meeting people for the first time....I get all nervous.

I'll report back on what it's like though, for those of you thinking about slings.

I've had such a baaaaad lunch. pork pie, salami, pickled onions, houmous, doritoes and salsa. It was yummy though, I must admit it! I was really craving salty food.

Thingymajigs · 16/11/2013 13:42

Glad you had such a good experience at the sale misskat. I was beginning to dread going next week with all the negative feedback.
I've just had a 4d scan. 3d with video makes it 4d apparently. He is so cute! Well he just looks like a baby but he's ours so he's adorable to me. He had his hands over his ears and then tried sucking his toes. According to sonographer he has small, delicate features and won't be very big which seems likely with DP being 5'7 and me only 5'2. Thanks to whoever it was that found the wowcher deal for the scan back in August.
