pads for the bed/car? we needs pads for the bed/car? There is so much I don't know about Sad

Chelsealady · 03/11/2013 15:09

abc i dont do any off roading its not actually that chunky think it looks very nice. X

MollySJ · 03/11/2013 15:31

I'd recommend the lasinoh breast pads as the best all rounders, as for pads I used the full on tens lady pants for 3-4 days then just went onto nighttime Always as wearing a 'nappy' got a tad irritating

As an aside is anyone on the Christmas bargains threads? It's amazing!! I'm pretty much sorted already and all at BARGAIN prices

BohemianRaspberry · 03/11/2013 16:01

whisper the nct lady for us recommend picking up a pack of pads you put in kids beds for bedwetting for when your waters go, any accidents etc. I picked up a pack of seven pampers ones for £3 in ASDA. Good recommendation on the tena pants molly I didn't think about those.

We managed to get the isofix base into the car today with only one swear word ...

Counting down to maternity leave, marking my yr13 class for the last time, just yr11 lit essays to go and judging by the first five, they all look at C and above.

I really don't want little one coming late either - really don't want to be pregnant and overdue at Christmas. Already planning vast amounts of walking, curry, raspberry leaf and EVERYTHING else.

Onesliceortwo · 03/11/2013 16:07

Hi there,
I can only apologise for not checking in more regularly - no excuses, but now I'm on fat leave (thankk God!) I may have a bit more of a chance!
Some of you have been asking about maternity pads/breast pads. FWIW and from my experience last time, go for the thickest maternity ones that you can find - the extra cushioning is much needed in those early days. You do need to use the maternity pads though and nothing with a 'dryweave topsheet' as if you run into difficulty afterwards (as I did) your midwife will need to see what you're actually losing - looking back now I can't believe that I was so happy to readily show my midwife my 'waste products' but tbh, having not long had several hands and various implements up my bits and pieces, I seriously didn't care! When I had DD (2 years ago) I used both the Boots and the Tesco ones - they did the job. Sainsbury's ones were to be avoided as they weren't plastic backed (they may be now though.)
Regarding breast pads - best advice I was given was to buy the most expensive you can afford - it makes a huge difference! I used the Tommee Tippee or the Lansinoh ones.
Stom - I don't know if you're having a vb or a section and I can't comment on a section, but trust me, if you have a vb you won't be wanting to use a tampon for a while - it's like waving a pencil round the Albert Hall if you get my drift! I breastfed my dd, had a brief period when I went on the pill about 8 weeks after having dd and then didn't start properly again until she was 9 months and I was cutting down feeds as I was returning to work.
Hope that's helpful x

Stom91 · 03/11/2013 16:30

Very helpful thank you oneslice

May have to check out that Christmas thread :)

Those pad thingys are a good idea bohemien as our mattress is an expensive memory foam one so will definitely be getting some!

Stom91 · 03/11/2013 16:31

Oh and yay! To those starting maternity leave!
Have come cake Cake

13loki · 03/11/2013 17:14

We had to throw out our mattress topper after I accidentally gave birth in bed. I currently sit on a bed wetting pad when in the car.

Cake is what I'll miss now I'm on maternity leave. Unless I visit work every Friday for fika (Swedish coffee and cake tradition). I could time it so I could visit the different staffrooms and get 3 or 4 goes at fika, each with 3 or 4 different cakes.

My periods came back after about a year and a half with each of my 2.

ladymalfoy · 03/11/2013 18:45

Hello everyone. The thread moves so quick I've no doubt this is a 'drive by ' intro!
I'm 32+2 and edd is 27 Dec.
Got all the kit just got to set up the nursery. Bought first baby clothes today and did our first NCT class yesterday.
If I'm honest I want to start mat leave now as I'm tired and want to get stuff sorted at home.
Good luck all and I'll try to keep up with the fastest thread ever!

ladymalfoy · 03/11/2013 18:52

Whisper men ( and fellow Whovian?) I'm missing a proper wee too! There isn't any wee satisfaction at the moment although the more I move around the worse the urge gets.

Alyssa1978 · 03/11/2013 19:01

I bled for around 7 weeks after I'd given birth as the bf didnt go as planned and after that stopped, my periods returned after 5 weeks so I went back to normal pretty quick.....well! Until I fell pregnant a few months later Confused

I use Tommee Tippee breast pads and I just use always night pads or Kotex super pads they are both the thin ones but I found them better than the huge things. I have a few packs of mothercare thin maternity ones too, I just found the thick ones annoying.

I'm taking a break from my cleaning spree.
Just finished the downstairs toilet and then I need to finish the rest of downstairs tonight.
Upstairs is fine apart from our bathroom.

Think I may be nesting Grin

WhisperMen · 03/11/2013 19:02

ladymalfoy you are the first person to recognise where my name comes from. always nice to meet a fellow whovian

ladymalfoy · 03/11/2013 19:09

Whisper. They were scary. Like the floaty, quiet men in Buffy. I hope the bump can wait until after the Xmas special !

WhisperMen · 03/11/2013 19:10

they are properly creepy. im keeping my legs croseed till the special is over. perhaps the excitement will start labour Grin

Jessica1992 · 03/11/2013 20:57

Hello all :)
I'm new to the thread and due on the 16th of dec. However I'm meeting with my consultant on my 37 week app (in 3 weeks time) to discuss an induction date due to possible Cholestasis..
Anybody else suffer from this?

PinkWitch803 · 03/11/2013 21:07

Welcome Jessica

Chilli81 · 03/11/2013 21:46

Welcome Jessica and Ladymaloy
Sorry - not had cholestasis so know nothing about it except that it's supposed to be really itchy.
I have officially started on my evening primrose oil and raspberry leaf team regime. I know it probably isn;t going to make a huge difference but at least it makes me feel like I have some control over this whole process (even if it's imaginary)
re getting stuff ready. I also went for the mothercare 3 for 2 and got pads and breat pads. I'm slightly regretting it as I have no idea how soft the mothercare ones are and as oncesliceortwo said about the most expensive ones, I remembered how important it was to have soft ones when your boobs are so sensitive at first. From memory the johnson ones were the best but lanishoh good as well. NOT boots own.
Great tip about bedwetting sheets. I shall get some asap. My waters didn;t break until labour last time but you never know.
Am havign an early night after a lovely hot bath after an exhausting weekend. Had one of best friends hen dos yesterday which involved a very frustrating cocktail making class. I had saved myself for it and hadn;t had my usual glass of wine this week as it I decided I'd allow myself one alcoholic drink but the barman got all judgy and didn't want to make me one. I got really pissed off and told him it was my body and that i was an adult and that I wasn't planning on gettign drunk!. It's so much wore coming from a man. Grrrr! I got my drink in the end but by that point I felt like I;d been made to feel irresponsible for having it so didn't enjoy it that much.
It's my last week at work - hooray. Only working a three day week so finish on Wednesday. Can't bloody wait.
Hope everyone has good nights sleep.

MildredH · 03/11/2013 22:11

Welcome newbies!

Chilli- bloody hell that would have made my blood boil! How dare he judge. I had an episode in Starbucks a few weeks back where I was asked no less than three times if I was sure I didn't want decaf with lots of pointed looking at my bump by the 12 year old serving me. Grrr.

Stom91 · 03/11/2013 22:35

Welcome newbies :)
Chilli and Mildred that would have annoyed me too.
We are grown adults it's put bodies and our pregnancies is up to us what we want to eat and drink

Just spent the last hr in labour ward for
Reduced movement. Baby is fine I jut can't feel it.

It's so hot into here my cheeks are bright red lol
I'm so tired. And so fed up of being pregnant now I'm actually pissed off with it lol. I know I shouldn't be. But I've really had enough. 7 weeks seems so far away I could cry.

Roll

Stom91 · 03/11/2013 22:36

Bloody phone.

Roll on when I get into bed I was going to say lol.

Hope you all sleep as well as you can x

PinkWitch803 · 03/11/2013 22:51

I think my baby has moved, but not necessarily in the right direction. I only say this because, even though I am still weeing every 2 minutes, I am actually getting a satisfying amount and the places I felt rumbles and kicks have moved.

I am only 32+3 now, so if it has moved, I don't need to panic yet, but more enjoy the peeing.

it might even be that it hasn't moved, but has got bored with using my bladder as a pillow and shimmied across a little to allow my bladder to fill up a little more! Who knows, but I will enjoy my toilet visits while they last :)

Alyssa1978 · 04/11/2013 07:17

36 weeks today.....ds1 was born at 37 weeks Confused
Major nesting last night, I cleaned loads.

Now onto 6 raspberry leaf tablets per day but I've been on them since 32 weeks so maybe they do just help in the stages of actual labour.
I know one one mentioned primrose oil I've never heard of using that.....do tell?

Got my last growth scan today, the size of me he will be 7llb already Hmm

Featherbag · 04/11/2013 07:52

God what a terrible night! Whichever side I lay on hurt enough to wake me after half an hour, baby was really active (think he's realised he's the 'wrong way' up but hasn't got enough room to turn now), I kept needing the loo but then when I got there not needing it, then lay awake for 3 hours convinced I was in labour because of what I now know were need-a-poo pains. Oh, and to top it all off my sinuses feel swollen and coasted which made me snore like a fucking chainsaw, kept waking myself up with the noise!

But! DS has slept through for the second WHOLE night in his big boy bed! He marched into our room at 7am, clutching his cuddly toys and shouting GOOD MORNING!!! However he's now charging round the living room in his full Thomas regalia being an energetic bag of crazy, think I'm in for a very long day!

Featherbag · 04/11/2013 08:49

Hm, opinions needed please ladies! I did the whole graduation ceremony thing in front of my parents several years ago when I qualified. I've just gotten a 2:1 BSc, which I've sone bit by bit over the last couple of years. I'm the first one in my family to go to university, and my grandparents were upset that they couldn't see me graduate the first time round, but I was only allowed 2 guests. They've offered to pay for my cap and gown and stuff if I'll go to the academic congregation to receive my degree so they can have the experience - if it wasn't for them asking I wouldn't even contemplate going. Only problem is it's 15 days after baby will be born! Will I be well enough? I'd have to go by public transport (about 15 miles on train then short walk) as I haven't gotten into a car drive by my grandad since I found out I was pregnant with DS, he's dangerous but won't admit he shouldn't be driving. I'm assuming I'll not be driving by then. I have to make a decision soon, and as it'll cost grandparents about £85 I'll have to stick to it!

Alyssa1978 · 04/11/2013 09:37

Are you having a vb or a cs feather
I was fine to travel after having both my kids and my sister was driving the next day but if you're having a cs then I wouldn't even contemplate it Hun.
A friend couldn't lift babies car seat or drive for ages after her c section and by the looks of her I don't think she would've managed anything like that but maybe someone who's had a c section before can inform you better Hun.

Yah! to your ds for second night in big boy bed. Xx
