Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NomDeClavier · 01/11/2013 11:25

Wow Mrs that's really irresponsible of her for her health as well as yours. When DS had pneumonia he was in hospital for a week. First sign of a cough you should get yourself checked out.

mean my boobs don't change until my milk comes in and then it's up a couple of cup sizes but I was back in normal bras by 6 months or so. I don't know whether they'd have deflated at the end of BFing as I was already expecting this one!

I've had an amazing lie in, which I really needed after a crap night, and DH has told me to take my time getting up. Bliss!

AngryByrd · 01/11/2013 11:58

congratulations chelsea :)

So I really want to compare the ameda lactaline double electric pump with the lanisoh one and then compare those two to the medala one.

wonder if lanisoh and medala will contribute breast pumps for my research.

MrsShrubs · 01/11/2013 12:00

I know I am slightly annoyed she's come in knowing I'm preggers and how close a proxmity we'll be working in, will be going out at lunch to buy that antibac gel!

NomDeClavier · 01/11/2013 13:02

I think if I'd had a Medela it would have been disgusting by now because my oversupply would have just backed up the tubes!

I need to pack my hospital bag really. And freeze some colostrum in case.... And pack my 'in case I have to stay for ages' bag.

meandbumpy · 01/11/2013 13:23

That's great news Chelsea

Haha, glad it's not just me Nom. I'm usually a 30D, boob size has remained exactly the same but my ribs have stretched nearly 4 inches now, ouch!

Nearly finished all the packing and I'm off tomorrow to stay at dp's mum's with him for the week. Then next Saturday it's the big move and we can finally get ready for the babbles. Totally making the most of being preggo and not going to help with the moving at all, just going to wait at the new house and direct dp, his bother and dad with where to put things Grin

Gannetgob · 01/11/2013 18:17

Do we need to start expressing colostrum now nom? And in case of what?

How would I store it? Can I put fresh colostrum in with frozen colostrum? Gosh, you have introduced me to a whole new confusion!

AngryByrd · 01/11/2013 19:07

I have stuff in my boobs! can i start pumping?! I didn't know that. Tell me more.

Must get those freezer bags.

Alyssa1978 · 01/11/2013 19:09

Great news chelsea

mrs ill just echo what everyone else has said, first sign of a cough and go get yourself checked out.
I've just booked a flu jab today for Tuesday, I wasn't gonna bother but one of my staff came in ill today with what looks like a cold, but then informed me her entire family are bed ridden with actual full blown flu.
Now my hypochondriac tendencies have surfaced and I immediately got a sore throat and headache, so I'm going to be on the safe side and put aside my needle phobia to get myself covered.

nom I'm also confused lol, I expressed my colostrum a syringe full was all I managed for ds1 but that was after I'd had him and they were tube feeding him for the first 2 days and didnt want me to waste the good stuff but I never did that with ds2.

NomDeClavier · 01/11/2013 22:02

A pump probably wouldn't be too effective but you can hand express and freezer bags is excessive! I have tiny syringes (maybe 20ml?) because you'd only need tiny amounts and I just froze whatever I got out of both boobs at a time last time and the syringes weren't full. I have to say I never used it though because it wasn't needed.

It's definitely not something you have to do or even need to consider unless you anticipate complications!

Seeing as most of you live in the UK where there would be access to donor milk in very bad case scenarios I wouldn't worry! I don't have that option, plus if I have to have a CS it would more than likely be under GA so expressing colostrum for the first 12-24 hours will avoid pressure on DH to consent to formula.

Didn't mean to worry anyone!

PinkWitch803 · 02/11/2013 00:44

Angry someone on this 'ere forum recommended the ameda lactaline double pump and after doing some research, I am pretty much sold on it.

mumoftwoboysS · 02/11/2013 07:49

I've just about caught up on all the posts! Half term and DH is off so been really busy this week!

I'm not one to buy clothes with slogans etc on them normally but u saw the cutest baby gro/romper suit in Mothercare. It has 'mummy's best christmas gift' on it. So cute and I'm tempted to get it. Haven't bought anything for baby yet. Tho both of mine were in tiny size for a few weeks so don't know what size to get!

Hope everyone slept ok. I feel like I should make the most of the lie in DH has given me but I'm awake now so just lying here...

mumoftwoboysS · 02/11/2013 07:49

'I' saw., not 'u'!

MildredH · 02/11/2013 08:04

I saw that Mum- like you I'm not one for slogan/ characters on baby clothes but thought that was lovely.

Alyssa1978 · 02/11/2013 08:09

Ah that one sounds lovely mum, might have to look it up.

Last day at work today woooo hoooo I finally got here lol and bless my area manager he got me a pay rise to say thank you for the hard work, that and I'm on an increase of 50% on last years figures Grin

Have a good Saturday everyone xx

kchapper5 · 02/11/2013 14:40

How's everyone fairing today then?
I've just been swimming and absolutely loved it would definitely recommend :) and there was a little baby probably 6 months old there and It made me really excited for when I can take bump.
Mum that sounds so cute and I'm not normally one for slogans either.
Hope your last day is going well Alyssa and brilliant news about the pay rise :)

WhisperMen · 02/11/2013 14:57

ooh that sounds adorable mum we have a few slogan babygros but they were given to us so can't complain Grin
I wish I could swim and wasn't so petrified of water chapper I have heard it does great things for the aches and pains. I think when baby is here I will make an effort to get over my fear. We live two minutes from a pool which is handy.

Hope your last day flys by alyssa

I am feeling alright today if I ignore the constant nausea headaches and pain whenever I move

I have been a busy bee though, been up since 6am. My washing basket is empty I took a picture of it just so I can look at it on days when everything seems to much and know that for one day it was empty. I have also baked a chocolate fudgecake, darned some socks and knitted some more squares for my baby blanket as I realised seeing as I give birth next month I should probably get on with it. Just about to go and start a chicken casserole as I have my parents coming over for dinner later. However I have now sat down and I am not 100% sure I can get up again thanks to my useless hips Grin

Featherbag · 02/11/2013 15:25

Whoever it was that bought the Mothercare Xtreme (on phone and can't check, sorry) be really careful to make sure it NEVER gets folded down with the back clip that holds the seat back upright fastened! I've never done it myself, but yesterday my brother has forced the buggy shut without unfasten ing the back clip, and the seat back has snapped in 2. Just had to fork out the £40 I had earmarked for the last of the Christmas shopping to buy a new seat unit. And then walked around town sobbing about it for the best part of 2 hours, in 8-months pregnant hormonal fashion. There's zero chance of my brother even admitting to it, let alone paying for it, but it was definitely him.

AngryByrd · 02/11/2013 15:36

for anyone interested and pink

the lactaline was what i used during my last breastfeeding experience. I did find it impressive. It's much more affordable compared to the other brands, but it's just not as pretty. I'm used to having beautiful things attached to my breasts, like pretty coloured bras and lace...

i'm shallow.

Featherbag · 02/11/2013 16:53

I think we've finally decided on a name! Opinions welcome - Benedict Anthony (will prob get Ben).

WhisperMen · 02/11/2013 17:11

oooh I love the name benedict (probably because I am in love with mr cumberbatch though)

we have gone for toby or olivia depending on which it turns out to be Smile

mumoftwoboysS · 02/11/2013 17:28

Took the kids swimming earlier but not quite the same- didn't get to do any swimming myself. Quite knackering just holding them, then walking back. So unfit!

Friends came round with their 12 week old- he's so cute! You know how you say people's kids are cute to them (even if they're not!) well this baby really was cute! But it's so funny, I have 2 kids but a small baby like that felt weird when holding him- I felt awkward and didn't know what to do with him! I know that'll change when I have my own again, just funny how it didn't feel natural!

mumoftwoboysS · 02/11/2013 17:37

Sorry to hear about your buggy feather so your brother just didn't admit to doing it? Shame on him- not fair on you! Tho I know my brother is a bit similar- he helps or quite a bit with DIY but he's so brutal with stuff sometimes he forces things and breaks them or makes a mess and never thinks he's to blame!

whisper very productive! I so want to make something for the nursery (am going to order some fabric off eBay) but we never seem to have the cash - something else always crops up- and I feel like I need to paint and put the furniture in before I can start doing all the fun decor stuff.

Car boot tomorrow morning so fingers crossed I make some money to put aside. DH is really good with money and we have a weekly budget we have to stick to but sometimes I get so frustrated. This week we can only take half out as we need to pay for petrol from his work car. Which means we can't get the electrician in to change the nursery light fitting. So I'm pushing that back yet another week...

Alyssa1978 · 02/11/2013 17:52

Ah finished work, flew over but what a busy day to leave on, we had to put the shop into full on Xmas mode, every inch of it looks like Santa threw up lol looks bloody lovely though if I do say so myself Smile

Always bitter sweet when I leave cos I miss everyone Sad but so need to not work until bump is due in 4 weeks, omg 4 weeks is so soon.

Got a beautiful outfit and blanket from everyone and they bought my 2 boys a Spider-Man balloon each bless them.

MrsShrubs · 02/11/2013 18:47

Well done on finishing alyssa must feel so nice!

feather that's really awful bless you, don't blame you for crying!!

We went to the NHS birthing class at our hospital this afternoon and feel so much more confidant about what's going on, might go to the breast feeding class on Thursday too.

froubylou · 02/11/2013 19:09

Tis me with the extreme feather. Thanks for the tip. Because mine is ex display I didn't get a manual with it so would never have known.

Feeling you on the hormonal tears. Nearly cried earlier cos I couldn't decide what I wanted for tea apart from a Sunday roast and a banana milkshake pmsl.

Can you all remember takingthestairs that posted quite a bit in here? It looks like she is having her baby tonight! Got a thread running in pregnancy bit! Pop over and wish her well if you get a min.
