Me too janey can't believe I am 39 weeks this Thursday....eeek. Have the HV coming tomorrow, hope the dog doesn't act up! Blush Not sure what to expect?

janey1234 · 29/10/2013 21:08

Can't offer any advice there - mine only came post birth?

BelissimaLol · 29/10/2013 21:44

Mother when exactly are you due?
I only use gro bags too and absolutely swear by them!! Started by buying one to try it out and bought another 3 from eBay!
Dogs name purple?!!! Ffs!
Yeah I've ignored the foreign comment and decided to use it as a winding up tool GrinGrin

MotherOfCleo · 29/10/2013 21:50

Due on the 7th lol, I really want to meet him now...getting so impatient. I'm crap at relaxing, so being at home just makes me want to either clean or go into labour Wink

BraveLilBear · 30/10/2013 01:54

HV will just drop off the all-important red book (put in hospital bag), probably tell you that you need to breastfeed, and will generally check you're not a dangerous crystal meth addict.

Mine only came post-birth, too, which was weird as everyone in hospital kept asking me for H's red book.

I'm using blankets at the moment but think I'll be switching to a gro bag as soon as I can get to mothercare because he keeps kicking them off. I'm fairly lucky that he tells us very quickly if he's too hot.

Sorry to hear about possible poorly cat - we have a bonkers kitty on our hands. Took her cone of shame off today, 8 days since being neutered, and she's been mental all day. This includes working out how to get over the stairgate at the bottom of the stairs. Not good.

Fingers crossed yours is better soon Alex!

In other news, I managed to get my hair cut today! Actually look 5 years younger. My mum ended up carrying H round the shopping centre as he was grizzling in car seat... he properly turned on the charm and was smiling and giggling at everyone, enchanting old ladies and clearly having a whale of a time. Was very cute biased :)

Cavort · 30/10/2013 03:51

I can't see why a HV would come in advance of the birth (mine never did) other than to nose at your living standards and suss out whether they should put you on a precautionary child neglect register. Total vultures.

Do any of the other Mums enjoy a brief foray into their previous baby-free existence? I went shopping alone for a few bits tonight (or last night now I suppose) and initially forgot I was baby-free, but when it did dawn on me I cranked the music up in the car as loud as it would go and sang at full pelt all the way there and back. It was great. Grin I find it's the small things sometimes. Grin Grin

They say it's to do with building a relationship ie you're more likely to trust them if you meet them beforehand.

Cavort I totally had that feeling when I went to that baby shower the other week after sobbing down the motorway for the first 30 minutes think it was partly due to having my car for a change, too. Felt nice to be independent for once. I also felt a teensy bit guilty butpprobably not as guilty as I should have

MotherOfCleo · 30/10/2013 08:11

That's exactly what I'm worried about, plus the dog will be excited at the unexpected visitor so I'm waiting for the 'will your child be safe around your over excited dog' speach. Maybe I'm just imagining the worst? I hope I am

Been up feeling ill a fair bit in the night, think it might be trapped wind....attractive. I felt like I needed to be sick or go to the loo...not good at 2am, 4am and 6am. Feel ok now though, plus its another sunny day so I wonder where I can walk pooch today.

BelissimaLol · 30/10/2013 08:35

I never met my HV until after birth. I was given book in hospital. Don't think it would have made any difference!!
On other news I've slept from 10-7 with no feeding breaks!!!!!!!!! Should I be worried it's too long with no feeding? She went for 10 hours (she went down at 9)!!! Don't know whether to be happy or concerned? She seems starving this morning and has emptied both boobs but otherwise happy. Thoughts??

BelissimaLol · 30/10/2013 08:36

Hope you're feeling better mother. They say wanting a poo can be a sign of labourWinkWink

Cavort · 30/10/2013 08:49

You should be happy happy happy Lol! I think it's perfectly normal for some BF babies to be able to go 12 hours overnight without feeding and will make up for it during the day. If she's gaining weight well then I can't see how it would be a problem. Consider yourself very lucky! Elodie now usually goes 7.5 hours after she first goes to bed before she wakes up hungry, which would still be pretty good if she wasn't so rubbish at staying up late. I just need to work on how to get her to go to bed at 11pm for selfish reasons Grin

Ooh Mother you are sooo close! I am v excited for you. V impressed that you can still do 5km walks too - anything over about half a mile for me and my lower bump starts aching and feeling stretched.

I had my first NCT last night, nice bunch of people and everyone seemed fairly up for the slightly embarrassing stuff they make you do. Turns out I am the first one due, which makes me a bit AGH! I was the most pregs person in my antenatal yoga last week too - bit of a strange feeling!
I've had 2 sets of friends scare me this week by saying how little I might have to go - one set delivered 4 weeks early and one set 3 weeks early. If that happened to me I wouldn't make the end of my NCT course!

HazleNutt · 30/10/2013 10:23

Aww all this talk about brand new babies makes me want another one!

Cavort · 30/10/2013 11:21

Get cracking then Hazle Grin Grin

Cavort · 30/10/2013 11:23

Does everyone else's baby's fingernails grow at lightening speed? Elodie's need cutting every few days to stop her from shredding her face and my boobs!

OP posts:
HazleNutt · 30/10/2013 12:34

Yes! I just cut them yesterday..

Well, we will get cracking but probably in a few months. Sigh, I don't really look forward to being pregnant again, it's so nice to fit into my clothes again. But the end result is worth it.

BelissimaLol · 30/10/2013 13:47

Ooooh so you will be the first berry on second baby???
I'd love another one but don't think it will ever happen as I'll be 40 in a few months and should probably count my blessings!! Plus we would need to shag a lot and that might prove tricky GrinGrin

BelissimaLol · 30/10/2013 13:48

Oh and yes to nails. Cut them at least twice a week or we both get seriously injured!

BraveLilBear · 30/10/2013 15:08

Yy to crazy nails. Also, my hair has started shedding, tho I think H may be helping it out - he likes to grab it. And pull it. At the same time my leg hair is making a comeback and then some. Sigh.

I definitely want another baby, but financially we need H to be in school hence the coil.

Exciting times Mother! Definitely sounds like things are starting to move... :)

HazleNutt · 30/10/2013 15:30

Oh yes, the hair - it's so beautiful, I've never had such thick hair in my life. And now Dh is hinting daily that I could maybe clean it from the shower myself, I leave tons behind.

At the moment, I don't miss baby-free life, I miss the baby. DH took him to see the other babies from our ante-natal class. They've been gone for 3 hours and of course I'm worried about how it's going and if they are ok and if baby eats and if they are not stuck in some traffic jam with baby screaming his head off and..well, the usual.
And as usual, he doesn't have the automatic network selection on and as they're meeting in Switzerland, his phone is out of coverage. Honestly, I tell him to check that almost as often as he reminds me about my hair in the shower..

BelissimaLol · 30/10/2013 16:16

Oh hazle I don't envy you!!!! Must be awfully hard for you!!! We should all play euro millions together Grin
Wow brave you will wait 5 years?! Must be a young berry then WinkWink

Purplemonster · 30/10/2013 16:25

Oh I'm glad it's not just me that's turning into alopecia lady, mine is coming out in handfuls, I've no idea how I can possibly not be bald the amount I'm losing. Knob head (his official name now) keeps moaning about me moulting.
Lucy's nails grow fast too but I pick/chew them off as I'm worried about cutting her with clippers by accident Blush

BraveLilBear · 30/10/2013 17:41

Lol I'm 33 now... think we'll get cracking after jan 2017 as H will be in school in Sept 2017. Ideally we wouldn't wait that long but 2 in childcare is simply not possible.

Hazle that must be stressful - men totally don't understand the importance of communication.

BelissimaLol · 30/10/2013 19:34

Yeah I can see that brave. I often wonder how people cope with two people in childcare!! My (possible)childminder says she gives a discount for the second one though! Will you go back to work full time? When?
I go back end of June and unless I go full time I would have to give up my job title so at the moment it's not an option. What about everyone else?
