Sorry Chilli & Bohemian- had a horrid feeling I might have got that wrong way round!

Roselau · 17/10/2013 00:37

all this talk of tearing is freaking me out. i'm getting more and more sold on taking the drugs... i'm a bit worried because the hospital i'm going to is 25 minutes drive with no traffic, but can be 1.5 hours with traffic. i'm so scared of giving birth in the car!!
ok now to go back a few pages and read what everyone said about hospital bags. i have not started anything on that front. hmmm...

DaleyBump · 17/10/2013 00:43

Catching up, I'm so rubbish at keeping track of this thread!

PinkWitch803 · 17/10/2013 02:49

Hey Rose, my american freinds tell me they love the drug options in the states. Make sure you do what you want.

As for the journey, either tell junior to pick the right time to make an appearance, or prepare your dh on delivering ;p I am sure it will all work out.

mumoftwoboysS · 17/10/2013 07:39

ring pistachio and nom thanks for the reassurance. He hasn't done this before- sure there has been the odd incident at nursery and he is a bit rough with his brother but not usually aggressive to other kids. He has been more aggro/angry at home and hyper due to tiredness so I'm hoping it's just an adjustment phase. Was also pissed off the teacher didn't tell is earlier. They don't talk to you at all during the term, pretty shit really. Doesn't help that DH thinks we're too lenient and just wants to come down hard on him. I agree we need to be firm and nip it in the bud but I tend to want to use various strategies (I did a psych degree) DH's solution is to shout louder/take away all privileges. It's hard when parents can't agree on how to bring kids up.

Re tearing, I tore with ds1 but tbh it wasnt too bad - didn't feel that bad and wasn't enough to need sewing up- healed by itself. So if you're worried about it, yes you may tear but it may not be that much and with everything else, if it's a small tear you won't even realise it. I didn't tear second time, I guess things were more stretched!

MrsEllsmore · 17/10/2013 08:29

Joining this thread fairly late at 31+4, due 15th December and just keeping fingers crossed baby will make an arrival before Christmas, guess there are a few people like that in here!

Gooseysgirl · 17/10/2013 09:11

Mumof2boys try 'Hands are not for hitting' storybook by Martine Agassi, available on Amazon for around a fiver (sorry haven't a clue how to link from iPhone). Really the teacher should have told you before now!

I've got about seven weeks to go now, have decided to go ahead with ELCS (hospital gave me the choice due to previous EMCS, my age etc) so just need to get date booked in. DH has lots of hols left to take aswell as paternity leave, DD will still be at the creche initially so recovery should be manageable!! Getting very excited now to meet our little man Smile

If anyone is looking for cheap and cheerful button down (passion-killerWink) nightdresses they have fab ones in Matalan for only £6. I got a couple last time and they washed brilliantly and were great for overnight BF. Also 20% off on voucher code sites at the moment, so a real bargain!

mumoftwoboysS · 17/10/2013 09:22

Thanks for letting me know about that book gooseysgirl will have a look. Will try anything to stop this bad behaviour.

Funny I got two button down (passion killer) nightdresses from Matalan years ago when I had dc1. They are good for hospital wen bf like you say.

Welcome MrsEllsmore well I'm due 22nd so have a much higher chance of an Xmas baby! Hopefully yours will behave and come out on time!

violetbean · 17/10/2013 09:45

Welcome MrsEllsmore! I'm due 16th and hoping baby will arrive either on 11/12/13 (cool birthdate) or after Christmas, but obviously just have to go with the flow! Smile

Bought some strawberry milk yesterday and am now slightly addicted, yum.

Backache this morning, hoping if I stay in bed a bit longer it'll magically disappear... Grin

ringaringarosy · 17/10/2013 09:59

I dont think pain relief makes any difference to tearing,as even with no pain relief you dont really feel it as soon as it happens, its afterwards it hurts, plus im pretty sure i read somewhere with an epidural you are more likely to tear or need an episiotomy as you cant feel the actually pushing so cant control how much orlittle you push.Swings and roundabouts i guess!

itsliz · 17/10/2013 10:49

Welcome MrsEllsmore! I was born on 16th December, so if your little one does decide to make an appearance before Christmas then I can assure you it's a good time to have a birthday Grin

mumoftwo You mustn't say things like that about yourself - it's not a reflection on you, it's not your fault and you weren't to know what's been happening, especially if they don't tell you! As the others have said, it sounds like he just needs time to settle in. You must be incredibly proud of him for doing so well academically though, so try not to let the bad things overshadow his achievements Smile

violet DP found me a meal planner that gives you an idea of what sort of things you should be eating during pregnancy. For the third trimester it mentions strawberry milkshakes, so I'd say that's a good enough excuse to get addicted!

Ended up taking my first trip to the hospital last night for reduced movement. I worked myself into a complete panic as I'm so used to feeling the little one give me great big kicks now but all I got yesterday was the odd flutter and pains both sides of my bump.
Typically, as soon as I got hooked up to the monitor he started kicking away quite happily! Got to spend an hour listening to him though which was nice... Although it also meant listening to crying babies and panting women on the labour ward, which made everything feel a lot more real and scary!

Chelsealady · 17/10/2013 10:52

Is anyone else not scared to be in hospital for xmas??? Im due 30th december and have this feeling ever since I was told my due date that i will be in labor on xmas!!! :(

WhisperMen · 17/10/2013 10:53

I just got an email from MNHQ saying I was nominated for the Christmas appeal. I don't know if it was any of you lot who nominated me, but if it was thank you. Made me smile. have Cake and Flowers

as you were...

ringaringarosy · 17/10/2013 11:24

I am having a home birth so even if the baby comes xmas day it will be fine, really lovely actually!I think if it was my first it woulnt really bother me being in hospital on xmas day but not now with all the kids,im glad ill be at home.

Whisper whats the christmas appeal?

Stom91 · 17/10/2013 11:49

Im due 21st Dec.. And as much as a don't want to spend Xmas in hospital.. Its only 1 Xmas day out of loads and I'll be getting a lil Bubba out of it.. Plus we can do Christmas on another day... I do hope that dd pops out early though lol.

What is the Christmas appeal? Well done whisper :)

Welcome MrsEllsmore

WhisperMen · 17/10/2013 12:10

The christmas appeal is where people nominate a MNetter who they think is having a hard time, or that they just think deserves a gift of some kind. It's all anonymous but quite a nice idea.

Got my care package today feather Thank you. I shall enjoy my caramac bar Grin

Featherbag · 17/10/2013 12:13

Pleased it's arrived - saw the caramac and fancied it, thought you might fancy one too!

PinkWitch803 · 17/10/2013 12:14

I am not scared of being in hospital over christmas (due boxing day) but I would prefer not to hit the christmas or new year dates for the sake of the little one and its future birthdays.

Welcome new people.

MrsShrubs · 17/10/2013 12:25

Welcome MrsEllsmore I'm due the 14th Smile

This might be way TMI so very sorry but is anyone else feeling really tight in the frouf area? It's really hard to explain but all week if I move one leg a bit apart from the other I feel as though I've pulled a muscle up there, like getting out of bed if I swing one leg to get out it really pulls up there so I'm having to sit up and move both legs to the side of the bed to get up and out in the morning.

MrsEllsmore · 17/10/2013 12:44

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone!

meandbumpy · 17/10/2013 14:09

Welcome MrsEllsmore and congrats Whisper. Hadn't heard of the Christmas appeal but it sounds lovely.

I had my first look at a labour ward last night as I had to go in for a check over because of the abdominal pain I've been having. The doctor is pretty certain it's either gastritis or gallstones so we're starting off with treatment for gastritis in the hope that's all it is. It was a good experience to meet the midwives and see what the ward was like, it'll feel a little more familiar when the time comes. Was also lovely to sit and listen to baby's heartbeat too. I was really surprised at how much it changed depending on whether I was moving or talking etc.

I suppose tearing is a very common and manageable thing in reality but the thought of it is worrying. My main concern about labour is not knowing what sort of labour it will be and what will happen. I'm trying to read up on as many good and bad experiences as possible so that whatever happens there's a chance I will at least have heard of it before or be able to understand what the midwife is telling me.

I've not had a feeling of pulling a muscle there Mrs but it gets quite achy and painful, often in the evening or after I've been walking, to the point where I'm limping. More like a constant dull ache and then shooting pains when I try to walk. It usually goes after a rest though.

Dusty04 · 17/10/2013 14:10

In due Boxing Day too pinkwitch and I'm not bothered about being in hospital over Xmas but about dc birthdays.. Hoping for an early or late arrival!

Stom91 · 17/10/2013 14:17

meandbumpy I had a tour of the labour ward/birth centre a couple days ago.. DP said I looked terrified the whole way round!

I actually am now! Everyone i think of labour I get this wave of anxiety... I try to get rid of it by tui king that im having a water birth so hopefully it'll be nice and calm... But it's going into the unknown... As no one knows how I will cope or what will happen...

I've still got 9 weeks to go... But I can't tell you how much I'm bricking it!

I'm scared of the ring of fire bit people talk about and tearing... Why can we all have a little zip on our belly button so we can just unzip and pop them out lol

Stom91 · 17/10/2013 14:18

Sorry Damn phone.. Hope it makes. Some sort. Of sense

LadyMedea · 17/10/2013 14:55

Hey mrs shrubs pain in foof on seperating legs sounds a bit like SPD.... Keep those knees together. If its a tight pelvic floor you could try the side lying release on the spinning babies website. Live the diagram of the pelvic floor as well, I had never realised exactly what it was!

I've been getting increasing pain in my bum/hip and down my right leg on waking and during the night Currently sat on a hot pad. 4 to 9 weeks (I'm 33 weeks today) seems a long time to wait to get my body back!
