He told me he wanted to do it for ages! He's very excited !

Hezbean · 05/10/2013 23:15

Ahhhh that's really cute! Bless him...

NannyPlumForPM · 06/10/2013 00:45

Sorry haven't posted for a while :( I am a grumpy plum at the mo.... moomin, mama hope you are both ok! Anyone heard from mumof2 recently? Hope everything's alright with her. I have fallen out with everyone this week!!! On the plus side, MS has toddled away can't say the same about f'ing MiL

randdom · 06/10/2013 07:03

I had an awful day yesterday. I went to a friends wedding and I just was so unwell. I don't know what happened to make it so bad but I just felt so tired and nauseated that I couldn't eat anything which made the nausea worse. I ended up bringing up bile when I got home after having to drive for two hours to get back and not getting there until after midnight. I then had to get up early for work today. I feel so sick I just don't know what to do :(

dobedobedo · 06/10/2013 07:46

Sorry to hear you're feeling so crappy randdom - I don't know what advice to give cos I'd use it myself! My sickness has increased day by day from just feeling sick a couple of times a day, to all day and all night nausea with added bouts of throwing up at least once a day. It sucks doesn't it? [solidarity fist bump] hopefully the fog will lift after 12 weeks for us Smile

I'm 9 weeks today. I got an olive Grin

I've been reading miscarriage stats (I know I shouldn't but I'm terrified so knowledge is power, right?) and after a heartbeat is detected the risk of mc at 9 weeks drops to 0.5% - and this is the risk throughout a pregnancy with no issues generally. So I'm feeling a bit more reassured. 3 weeks and 2 days until scan day. I just want to be able to tell people now! I'm very impatient.

Bohemond · 06/10/2013 07:47

randdom you poor thing. The best thing I have found for nausea is M&S sesame and sea salt crackers. Nicer than bog standard crackers and easier to eat. I am a salt fiend though. Hope you pick up a bit today.
Moomin sorry to hear that the hcps have been a bit weird. I am expecting the same due to my advanced age! Grin
By the way, is anyone in the South West?

Bohemond · 06/10/2013 07:50

Forgot - am going to post a standalone thread about this but shall also asks here:
I have my first doc's appoint on wed. I am keen to have as many tests as I can to make sure all is ok - with baby, with pg etc. Can anyone tell me in simple terms what I should be asking for/expect to be asked about.
Thank you!

randdom · 06/10/2013 08:46

To be honest from the doctor probably not very much. They will probably book you in with a midwife who would be the person to talk to about screening etc

Xavielli · 06/10/2013 09:33

Ime GPs just ask a few questions and give out some leaflets at the first appointment. One of the leaflets is screening options.

The basic tests are the Nuchal screening (12 week scan to measure the nuchal fold and a blood test)

IF you miss out on this you can have a quadruple blood test (also for chromosomal abnormalities, so you needn't have both)

If something comes back as abnormal they offer either Amniocentesis (usually around 16-18 weeks - a long needle is inserted and a sample of the amniotic fluid is taken - carries a risk of miscarrage)

Alternatively they do a CVS which is pretty much the same as above but they take a sample if the placenta. - carries a higher risk of miscarriage.

If all is well you have a 20 week scan for anomalies.

Other than that it's just routine urine, Bp and blood tests

mumof2aimingfor4 · 06/10/2013 11:37

Had my scan! Saw baby's heart beat and she confirmed only one, thank goodness as both sides of family have twins! She showed me the yolk sac and the black part on the scan showed plenty of space in my uterus already for baby to grow into Grin she took measurements and put me back by 4 days but she also said dating scan will probably change that as I was adamant that my periods are like clockwork.

dobedobedo · 06/10/2013 11:52

Congratulations mumof2 Grin

dobedobedo · 06/10/2013 11:56

Today I'm really feeling like I can't cope with this sickness anymore. I think I'm just tired and scared that I'm on my own in work next week so can't take time off even if I wanted to. I work long hours and I'm tired. My house is becoming a mess and I need to do a million loads of laundry and I have no energy. Poor dh is hopeless at laundry so him doing it is out of the question. He'll ruin everything!
Don't mind me, I just needed to vent Blush

mumof2aimingfor4 · 06/10/2013 13:29

dobe I feel your pain. Feel really crappy too. My oh wouldn't dream of putting a load of washing on and the ironing from last week is still sitting here. I haven't got the energy to do it.

rebeccax2 · 06/10/2013 15:07

Hi Gals,
Been on and off here because of the nervous ninny in me. Had a scan at 7.5 and all was well, strong 150bpm heartbeat.
Had a little brown/pink spotting which makes me nervous but trying to be cool and calm as it makes no difference worrying .... easier said than done.
Has anyone got some happy stories of spotting at 8 weeks? :-)
xx

moobaloo · 06/10/2013 17:18

dobe feel for you, I'm exhausted and working 6 days a week for the next month or so Sad and no one knows so no excuse for being less productive than usual! Hiding my nausea is hard when I just feel crap, but I've been eating lots and blaming my increased appetite on working so much, so hopefully they won't notice when I start putting on weight!

Just want to get to 12 weeks, have a scan, have it all be ok, and then tell people! But part of me wants to keep it a secret too?

rebeccax2 I'm sure spotting will all be fine, so many people have it and I've read plenty of stories of good pregnancies and healthy babies after spotting in the early days Smile and it's great you've already had a scan and heard its heartbeat! I'd love to have heard that by now Smile

7 weeks today Grin !!

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 06/10/2013 17:33

Dropped off the thread again! Have just had a week off work and signed off for another week with nausea. When I'm lying down and resting I feel ok but as soon as I do anything like walk to shop etc I am exhausted! None of my clothes are comfortable now so looking at maternity clothes online and have ordered tights and a dress but feel nervous having done so before the scan...

Going to catch up with the thread now!

10+4

dobedobedo · 06/10/2013 17:52

rebeccax2 spotting is common early in pregnancy, the vast majority of the time it's not an indication of any problems at all. Also you've had a heartbeat so your chances of miscarriage are very low - the stats are very reassuring. Thanks

dobedobedo · 06/10/2013 17:55

moo I know what you mean about keeping it a secret, I kinda want to keep it to myself too. That way I don't have to have questions from everyone, comments, advice and general sticking their noses in!

thistlelicker · 06/10/2013 18:29

I had
Spotting and brown discharge and a bleed I am now 9+4:-)

mumof2aimingfor4 · 06/10/2013 19:19

Its so true, as soon as you mention being pregnant people advise you. And when you get a bymp why do people feel compelled to touch it?! That really annoys me, a random stranger touched my belly in the queue at sainsburys when pregnant with dd2. Angry

moominleigh94 · 06/10/2013 19:53

If people touch my bump I'll go ninja. Pretty sure I'll be walking around uni with a fence around my tummy towards the end; some people on my course seem to have issues with personal space... one in particular who walks around messing with his knackers and touching people, hugging them... my friend's convinced he'll want to touch my bump all the time. No chance!

Think I'm going to need something like this Grin No touchy

lolablu · 06/10/2013 20:12

it might just be me being grumpy, but in the last 2 pages there have been at least 3 posts completely ignored. i thought mine was the only one, but there are others. because of ms, tiredness etc etc. it is very often not possible to stay completely up to date on this thread. a quick hi to a returning poster, esp when they say theyv been sick is imo only polite. i know its easy to miss.. it just seems strange..

pg rant over..

ThePFJ · 06/10/2013 20:27

lolablu

Here's my opinoin on missed posts - and it's an opinion I have tried to hold on to for years here.

It's really sweet that you are concerned over missed posts. I must admit that sometimes if one of my posts is missed the emotional side of me gets really upset - but then I try to remember...

Sometimes I forget to refresh this page (I try to read through as much as I can - when I have missed a few hours or days) before I post, so I may miss a really important post like someone having a really bad day etc. and then my post about something trivial makes it seem like I don't care - literally because I missed the important post by not refreshing the page. For that I am always sorry and I try to catch up.
Also sometimes on here posts WILL get missed. It's just sod's law. We should not take it personally... repost if you think we as a collective have missed it. We all care!! We are a group. A group of very pregnant girls.... so mistakes happen.
Hugs for you Lola - Love your right to rant!!! xxx

mumof2aimingfor4 · 06/10/2013 20:29

lolablu rant duly noted. Sorry ladies, I am a bit shite in general with communication, not just on here!
