We went to an NCT sale the other week and got a barely-used bouncer for £15, retails for £50! Definitely worth the trip. There was so many lovely clothes as well but I didn't have the energy to look around too much, I'll definitely be going to another one now ms is on its way out.

Grey I loved Harrods at Xmas too :).

Owl I've given up trying to cover my bump up at work. No one has said anything yet though!

Jolleigh · 30/09/2013 10:07

Did make me chuckle grey - definitely one of her better ones!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 30/09/2013 10:45

Hope you got on ok at the GPs Kara

That's totally it Lumpy. I don't think mrM properly understood how I'll I was until I was signed off. And even now he seems to forget.

There's a nearly new sale here in a couple of weeks. I may have to take a look!!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 30/09/2013 10:46

And I prefer Selfridges to Harrods Wink

Madwife strangely my consultant was always really positive about me having a homebirth - it was just the MWs who were really negative about it. I agree about the NICE guidelines just being guidelines - I was quoting them in defence of my declining routine foetal heart auscultation at antenatal appointments as she was claiming it was needed in order to determine whether my baby was viable.

Pram, I wasn't bored by your stout tale - it must be good to know that you are able to do that now.

Welcome writer - it sounds like your pregnancy has been rather eventful so far, I hope the remainder is stress free.

greendragon, it sounds like your area is rather stingy on the antenatal appointments if you get nothing between 13 weeks and 28! I had one at 16 and the next is at 24! (and the MW offered me the extra one at 20 weeks that's usually just for primips in case I wanted to listen to the heartbest) I would suggest that you book yourself in for an appointment with your MW as soon as you can and ask for a consultant referral. There really should be an system in place that automatically deals with it.

I'm usually still in my regular clothes until 5/6 months and this time doesn't look like it's going to be any different. My clothing problem is going to be that most of my maternity clothes are dresses because I find them more comfortable with a bump but because of the smaller gap I'm still breastfeeding which renders them all useless. Although saying that, if I'm getting dressed every day I probably need more maternity wear anyway.

Prambo · 30/09/2013 10:55

Jolls, I could take our Liz far more seriously if her hatred for the smug middle classes was not equalled by her love of oily baths, Conran sofas and 'butter soft' Helmut Lang suede trousers. Besides, I believe one can only truly hate the middle classes if one is working-class Grin

Janice (the midwife) is on her way! Can't wait to hear my baby seeing as I'm feeling no movement whatsoever.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 30/09/2013 10:56

Oh Prambo it we be amazing!! I hope you have her tea ready Wink

MummyPig24 · 30/09/2013 11:05

Pram I was going To ask you the other day is Janice had ever come back since she cancelled on you.

I get to see Lovely Linda tonight. I must remember to take my pee sample! I really hope she can listen to the baby's heartbeat, I will be gutted if she doesn't and terrified if she can't find it.

rescoonetwothree · 30/09/2013 11:05

Good luck with our Janice prammy! Also I think that's my favourite thing about liz jones just the complete contradiction!

Hope the doctors went ok Kara!

Glad to hear about NCT sales and thanks for the info! Very useful, will get myself to the next one!

commsgirl · 30/09/2013 11:07

Pram how exciting :). I'm seeing mine tomorrow, it'll be the first time DP has heard the heartbeat.

commsgirl · 30/09/2013 11:09

Mummy they'll listen here if you're 16+ and promise to try and stay calm if they can't find it!

AbiBub · 30/09/2013 11:15

Hello!

pram hoping the mw appointment goes fabby :0)

I think I should change my username to illusiveduetosicknessandnausea (I jest!) Although that is pretty much the reason why I hadn't managed yo catch up before posting this!

I am truly a lousy mumsnetter! Please forgive me.

Am knackered today as ds woke up 2wice last night (he's 4 for crying out loud, why! !) This has been going on for months now. So feeling like crap, and worse still,I have the weekly shop to do after I pick him up from school! F.u.n. I think not! Nausea is just pants now, 14weeks+2 and still no sign of disappearing :0/

Sorry a bit ranty! Someone slap me now! How are we allggetting on?

Twins on the thread eh! Fabby stuff, congratulations!

LyraSilvertongue · 30/09/2013 11:23

Don't apologise, Abi (except for your misspelling of elusive Wink).

MummyPig24 · 30/09/2013 11:28

What do they do if they can't find it comms?

abi my 3 yr old was up several times last night crying, I don't know what was wrong with her. She usually sleeps well. I feel your pain today, I'm shattered!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 30/09/2013 11:38

Don't apologise Abi I feel your pain. 15 weeks here and no better. Am back to GP again this afternoon. Have you thought about shopping online? I cannot face supermarkets at the moment.

I'm sure they find it MummyP Smile

JK10 · 30/09/2013 11:51

Thanks pram been a horrid morning, bless her she held my hand going in and took the nursery leader hand so I made my escape, by the time I got round the corner she was crying her eyes out. I rang any 1030 to see how she was doing and I could hear her crying in the room. I've gotta ring back at 12. Flowers smell beautiful! Hope all goes well with miss Janice.

Nct sales are okay but it's kinda the luck of the draw as to if you manage to get any decent bargains, ad im not a Nct member u get last pick, I queued for about an hour to no bargains left!!

Can someone do a silly dance or song or something to cheer me up!?!

JK10 · 30/09/2013 11:52

Gonna google who Liz jones is.

commsgirl · 30/09/2013 11:57

I'm sure they will find it Mummy so try not to worry. My mw explained that not finding it wouldn't be a major concern for them at this stage (although worrying for you) as everything is still so small. They're only warning you to cover their backs though, I think not finding it is uncommon.

Edamame · 30/09/2013 12:05

Grey, we're gonna open our boy/girl envelope on Wednesday - it's DP's birthday, he really wants to know and I'm ready to find out now too.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 30/09/2013 12:07

How exciting Edamame!!

FoxMulder · 30/09/2013 12:07

Afternoon all. I'm back from weekend in Manchester.

Baby show was a bit crap, in my opinion. It was like paying to go see loads of products from the kind of businesses that would be turned down on Dragons' Den. Expensive stuff, too. There was no seating, which seemed really poor for an event with so many pregnant women, and the food offering was limited to overpriced packaged sandwiches. And I kept getting cornered by women talking extensively to me about their useless products which I then had to be polite and pretend were a good idea. Freebies were shit too. Mum was most put out that she wasn't allowed the goodie bag, as she had paid the same entry price as everyone else.

Basically, we would have been better off just going to the Trafford Centre and going in the baby shops.

Ugh, I'm so tired and work is thusly suffering. My boss keeps asking my questions to which I don't know the answers. I'm a bit of a useless employee since getting preg.

Prambo · 30/09/2013 12:42

BWP, please will you join the private Martians facebook group? I'm dying to see all your kids and if you are a hippy. Owl, will you join too, pliz?

Janice has just left after three cups of tea on the trot. That woman gets thirsty. It took her ages to find baby's heartbeat and I was getting very afraid. She told me to calm down several times. When she did find it it was 156bpm and she seemed pleased. I asked her whether I may have an anterior placenta due to feeling no movement and her taking ages to find the heartbeat and she said yes. I'll ask them at my 20 wk scan next Tuesday Smile

Fox, yep, that is precisely how I expected a baby show to pan out. What a load of toss. Sorry you had to suffer it.

JK, crying is par for the course at nursery, no? Doesn't make it easier on you, poor lamb. She's going to love it before you know it. Would this cheer you up?: Once, when I was a stripper, I was told to come off stage by the DJ as the neon light above the pole was highlighting the tampon string hanging out of my knickers. I didn't get a dance all night, strangely enough Grin

FoxMulder · 30/09/2013 12:50

Don't know about JK, but it cheered me up Pram. I would have thought as a professional you might have thought to cut off the string or something Grin

I feel like all my dreams have come true right now. I have just eaten a gigantic home made roast dinner. And it was free. Fuck Yeah.

Rockchick1984 · 30/09/2013 12:53

Ugh, DS is being a complete monster today Sad he's normally pretty good and chilled, we have got away without many signs of terrible twos. Today he's just being a nightmare - just had to deal with a 40 minute tantrum because he wanted to watch Fireman Sam (fine, I was trying to get us both ready for playgroup anyway so normally means I can put some make up on in peace) he wanted to choose which DVD (fine) but then he didn't want any of the DVDs we own, so he had a meltdown. Eventually he chose one, I put it on, and he had another meltdown that it wasn't the right one! I told him he'd made his choice so it was that one or tv off (been standard when choosing something for at least the past 12 months that once choice is made you stick to it, so not changing goalposts or anything) and he just lost it entirely. Crying, screaming, whinging, couldn't understand what he was even saying for most of it and he doesn't really do whinging Sad I feel really bad that he was so worked up, but didn't know how to handle it Sad

Sorry, needed to have a whinge!

commsgirl · 30/09/2013 12:57

Aw Rock. Sounds like you handled it well and stuck to your guns.

Pram Grin at your story. Glad things went well with Janice.

Fox I seem to have lost the ability to work too, you're not alone!

JK sorry you're having a tough day. I bet DD won't want to come home once she's used to the idea!
