Ok we don't. We're sick a lot, cry at adverts, moan about back/hip pain and if we got a quid for each new stretchmark generated we could all give up work and employ a nanny.

In fact if you know any teenagers feel free to show them our threads...we are the most effective contraceptive since sliced bread don't ask.

Ladies...as you were....

I slept in until 9.30 this morning, which is the longest sleep for ages. I feel great! I wish I could sleep that well every night.

DH is suffering though, he went to a beer festival last night and is very sore this morning. bless.

Time to get up and hosting for my family now! I had lots of new nephew cuddles last night, it was fab Smile

sunflowered · 13/10/2013 10:13

Eeyore I'm extremely jealous of your lie in! Up at 6.30 again today - feel like I'm 4 again, looking outside and thinking "it's getting light so i can get up and stop pretending to be asleep now"

Hangovers are a thing i don't miss. Am looking forward o drinking the best part of a bottle of wine (pref with pate and brie) some point next year though (but having been out with a friend on her first post-baby big night out a while ago I'm also a little nervous of the consequences)

vix206 · 13/10/2013 11:18

I've had 7 hours sleep in the past 48 hours so I'm jealous of anyone who's had more than that ConfusedGrin

Littleen · 13/10/2013 11:40

Ammigad! Had a long walk round the mountain, really hurt the rest of the day in my pelvis, but have had comfortable sleeps for two nights in a row after that. My physio and midwife both recommended going for walks in grassy/soft areas. I called BS, but so far it's worked wonders. Still hurt in the day when I walk a lot on hard surfaces, but the lovely sleeps, ahhh :) Not slept comfortably for months until now!

misskatamari · 13/10/2013 14:17

Glad to hear some of you are managing to sleep a bit better - sorry for those who are still struggling. I'm generally sleeping okay but needed about a million wees last night which was annoying.

We went to our first hypnobirthing class this morning and it was great! We both really enjoyed it and i really feel like I know more about birth and am starting to feel more excited than scared by it. I'd really advise anyone interested to look into it. Our classes aren't cheap (£200) but I'm happy to cut back elsewhere to try and feel call about birth. Ours uses the Mongan method and I've started the book which so far is very interesting and makes a lot of sense, plus we get a cd of hypnosis and a positive affirmations track which you listen to daily to help you prepare and think positively about birth.

Now I'm in for an afternoon of vegging on the sofa me thinks as I feel like I'm getting another cold Hmm so wanna rest up before a hectic week of work filled with random observations and work scrutiny - joy!

ch1134 · 13/10/2013 15:37

Enjoy the rest MissKat and good luck with the busy week.
I had friends to stay Friday and went out with friends last night - which involved driving us home late last night. It was the first time I'd ever driven on the motorway and it was terrifying!
This morning I've woken up on our 1st wedding anniversary to non-alcoholic champagne and strawberries! We had a lovely breakfast, watched some TV and I fell back to sleep... until 3pm! Still in my pyjamas! We have nothing but DIY planned for the day - lovely to chill out and just be at home.
I get my day off this week and school closes for the strike too, so I'm only working 3 days, and 4 next week as we finish on Thursday. Nearing the holidays and ready for it!
I've got a place on an NCT course and have to pay a deposit by tomorrow. Have been ummming and ahhing for 2 weeks so my husband says just do it. It costs £210 but we don't really know anyone in the area so could be an investment.

laura0007 · 13/10/2013 18:08

God that Johnson's baby advert gets me everytime! They should put a warning on the tv prior to it coming on so pregos can leave the room!!

gnittinggnome · 13/10/2013 22:14

Ugh. Today is the first day I've really felt browned off with being preggers. I'm getting fatter, weaker, out of breath and am constantly worrying about the state of my bowels.

Plus my sister, who has decided we are talking to each other again now, has decided she is going to throw me a baby shower. I don't want a baby shower, and I don't want my emotionally peculiar, deeply stressed and unhappily ttc sister throwing me a baby shower where she will deeply disapprove of all my friends.

And of all the many exciting and interesting things we had planned this weekend, I've made it to my knitting group (all good, but all seriously qualified professional ladies, throwing my own non-career into sharp relief) and tidied the living room, in case DH's friend stays over on Wednesday.

Yes, I am moaning about a perfectly normal, happy situation. Apologies. Will apply hot chocolate until normal service resumes.

Shropshiremummy2B · 14/10/2013 07:18

Oh dear knitting, hope the liberal application of hot chocolate soothed the pain.

Talking of showers, by best friend who lives in Cyprus is only coming to the uk once before I pop so kindly suggested we do it on that weekend in December, in London. I live in Shrewsbury. Don't mean to sound ungrateful but..... Anyway, if I can be arsed to waddle to London it's free gifts ahoy, so score!

Julietee · 14/10/2013 09:02

I don't think I have any friends who would even think of throwing me a shower!

Last night I was lying on my right and put a pillow between my legs - sudden shooting pain on the lower left and then loads of crazy baby movement - I really hope I didn't hurt him :( Now scared to lie in that position again. It's always been weirdly awkward and uncomfortable, but never painful so unequivocally in that way before.

jazzcat28 · 14/10/2013 10:20

I'm torn on the idea of a baby shower. Some of my friends have had them, others refused as they saw them as 'grabby'.

From the ones I've been to so far they consist of a girls night in with lots of speculation about impending motherhood, silly games involving nappies and chocolate and presentation of gifts.

Not sure yet whether to have one. If I do, it'll probably more so I can see all my girlfriends for a nice night in, the gifts and cake are a bonus!

Shropshiremummy2B · 14/10/2013 11:47

I've always thought they were massively cringe. Having said that, I've been to sooooo many, spent sooooo much money (quite competitive with gift giving), and then spent mooooore money once the child has been born, I figure it's my turn now! Plus it's usually the organiser that makes me feel nauseous, never the mummy to be.

Anywho, you're all invited, but understand if you can't come, I live in the arse end of nowhere, turn left up the track and follow til you've lost the will to live, so you can just post your gifts. Remember- team yellow, colour theme is grey and white, child will have to love dogs or deal with it.

On another unrelated note DO YOUR PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES NOW.

does anyone have a copy of the letter they sent their employer informing them of pregnancy/ mat leave etc?

I'm just writing mine but not sure what it should be like..

mm

DawnOfTheDee · 14/10/2013 12:33

My best mate threw me a baby shower for DD1. It was basically just a girl's night in, no cringey games and we did it after DD was born so I could drink. Some people bought pressies, some didn't.

Champagne I like the idea of getting together with various groups. Since I also don't have anyone who'd organise for me, I might be doing that :)

Today is a bad anxiety day. I shall reward myself with sentimental songs on Spotify (So far, 'Miracles' from Price of Egypt! And some Paul Simon - I'm not a total sap) and a baked potato.

Julietee · 14/10/2013 13:44

That should read: Prince of Egypt. And getting teary because I'm having a tiny red sea pedestrian of my own :D

winterflowers · 14/10/2013 14:21

Ladies does anyone know much about colposcopies in pregnancy? I'm due.one this week as I had a slightly but not very dubious smear in the spring. Actually it was at my initial colposcopy appt they confirmed I was preggo and then rebooked me for this week. They said it was fine after 12 wks but my gp said not at all in pregnancy... very useful conflicting advice.

So any experience much appreciated!

sunflowered · 14/10/2013 14:26

Winter I was told by mw not to get my overdue smear done during preg because natural changes to the cells make the results unreliable. Not sure if that's the same for a colposcopy?

bugsyburge · 14/10/2013 14:52

thanks champagne.. do I need to put how long I intend to be off?

Littlestgirlguide · 14/10/2013 15:15

Our form at work (for a government department) asks you to record what date you want your mat leave to start, due date and your intentions after the leave, any annual leave is requested separately.

Poppy954 · 14/10/2013 15:17

Winter - I've sent you a msg on fb ( I hope!! ) if Amy
Of you get a random message from me I've done something wrong!
