Ok we don't. We're sick a lot, cry at adverts, moan about back/hip pain and if we got a quid for each new stretchmark generated we could all give up work and employ a nanny.

In fact if you know any teenagers feel free to show them our threads...we are the most effective contraceptive since sliced bread don't ask.

Ladies...as you were....

Shropshire the emily oster book has a bit on lying on your back - according to her the evidence says it's not a problem for the majority of women, but for some people it causes faintness, so not necessarily a bad thing (will need to check that though - book upstairs, me downstairs, too lazy breathless to go and look it up). The lazy daisy lady said it's most important towards the end - lying on your left can put the baby in the best position for a smooth delivery and sitting up straight instead of slouching back on the sofa can encourage it to go face-to-spine. Or something like that.

champagne I think it's just my dh who laughs at little preg related quirks. Irrational mood swings and tantrums, being a funny shape, clothes not fitting, drinking orange squash instead of wine... All hilarious. He doesn't laugh at my new snoring habit though...

Some tosser smashed my car wing mirror last night so now need to drag myself out from relaxed saturday morning to get it fixed. After months of diy saturdays this was going to be my first weekend off. Tosser. He should know better than to mess with a hormonal pregnant woman Angry (disclaimer - the incident happened well past my bedtime so I have no idea who it was. Instead my rage will be directed passive aggressively at all pedestrians who dare to pass through the village for the next 3 weeks)

CubanoHabana · 12/10/2013 11:05

I think we need a rota and once a day, someone has to mention pelvic floor exercises, as the only time I ever remember to do any are when I read about someone else doing them on here! So please, let's keep mentioning or I will never do them!

With regards to team yellow nursery's, we originally were going to go beige but now completely changed my mind and want some colour in there, think walls will be buttermilk / buttercup with a bright border, still trying to decide whether to fork out all the money for the mamas and papas jamboree set...

Breathlessness, omg! We have a three storey house and bedroom on third floor, can hardly breathe by the time I get there! Also, noticed when teaching, if I am standing at the board explaining something, I have to stop to catch my breath! Makes it quite difficult! But, only 59 days worth of teaching to go!

misskatamari · 12/10/2013 11:39

Sunflowered you've reminded me I need to go pick up the mirror but for mine too as some twat bashed it last week. Luckily the plastic bit is still there and I just need to order new glass!

Apparently there is an app to help you remember to do pelvic floor exercises! might get it and hope it's better than my reminder to take vitamins which I see daily and then just ignore as I'm too lazy to get off the sofa! Smile

EeyoreIsh · 12/10/2013 11:43

We're going for a light yellow bedroom too, once the work has finished.

we've got my whole family down this weekend. It's lovely, but I'll need another weekend by the end! It's peaceful and quiet now, but it'll get noisy very quickly.

DawnOfTheDee · 12/10/2013 12:22

Great news Zazou!

Thanks Sunflower, will stop panicking, potentially.

Jazz my team yellow nursery concept is grey and white and spaniels, I can then jazz it up with pink or blue accordingly. The room is already off white, as is the wardrobe, i'm making a mobile comprising of spaniels cahsing bones, i've bought packs and packs of Sainsburys grey and white star muslins and vests no spaniels, my change bag is cream oil cloth with grey bows and MIL is quilting in grey and white as we speak.

What happens if my baby's allergic to dogs????!!!

Milkandtwo · 12/10/2013 13:33

Yes - another grey and white nursery here (with little bits of colour here and there) My whole house is basically grey and white with flashes of bright colour. People think it's a really weird colour to paint but it's the new magnolia y'all... Goes with everything!

Milkandtwo · 12/10/2013 13:39

...though I'm quite looking forward to The Boy being a few tears old and expressing a love of pirates/dinosaurs/fairys/whatever and I will whip out my drill and paintbrush and go theme crazy. Dying to paint a huge mural but will wait until he expresses a love for something before unleashing. Until then the room will remain to my personal taste as I'll be the one staring at the walls at 4am whilst he will be largely oblivious to his surroundings. The more zen the better.

Camwombat · 12/10/2013 14:03

oh dear, the nursery is currently ds's room which hasn't been decorated since we moved in. So is currently coffee and cream.
In the old house ds had green and blue walls (grass/sky) with a lighter blue ceiling with white clouds painted on it, and a yellow lampshade for the sun.
When he moves into his "big boy" room when baby needs the cotbed that will be done along a similar theme with the addition of trains.
The nursery will then be decorated appropriately, it's fine as it is for now.

winterflowers · 12/10/2013 14:35

So nice hearing all your nursery schemes...

Pregnancy yoga is like no yoga I've done before. Lots of great stretches though and made me realise how rubbish all my muscles are! Oh dear...

Woohoo for days left at work countdowns!

Julietee · 12/10/2013 14:43

Milk That would be an interesting mural if it were all three :)

Our nursery room is a very dull putty colour and I suspect it's going to stay that way for the foreseeable.
Though there is an adorable lampshade from JL with dinosaurs that we've been eyeing up!
Also, really cute decals of various jungle/ zoo animals online which might make the putty walls seem more child friendly.

I had my flu shot - barely felt it.

Milkandtwo · 12/10/2013 14:52

Julietee I relish the prospect of a challenge! Plus I'd be proud of him for being a well-rounded individual with varied interests. Grin

Julietee · 12/10/2013 15:47

Plus, you know, Shakespeare totally wrote a whole play about fairies - very valid male interest area! :D He didn't cover dinos, to the best of my knowledge.

Milkandtwo · 12/10/2013 16:25

Aye - all interest areas are valid male interest areas in m opinion: Baby milk will be equally exposed to ballet and football! (For example) I won't be assuming he's into one or the other on account of his gender. Though I'm secretly hoping for ballet as I know feck all about football.

Julietee · 12/10/2013 19:01

We're very much hoping we can dissuade ours from taking any interest in football as we know nothing about it either :) Massively athletically disadvantaged genetically here, but he can have ballet lessons if he wants! He just can't expect to ever be flexible, alas.

Julietee · 12/10/2013 19:05

... Although saying that I did used to love tae kwondo and he does seem to love kicking :D

misskatamari · 12/10/2013 19:18

Awww loving all the nursery ideas. I'm keeping ours as it is and just giving it a fresh coat of paint (if I can be arsed). It's white with a lovely purple wall and furniture is white. Got my button rug to brighten it up and my rubber duck art work Smile

Interest wise DH and I hate football so I'm hoping that out children take a similar view. Hopefully our nerdy/creative interests will rub off instead!

Decided I needed to research some baby stuff today and am still so confused about what to get for the baby to sleep in! Hoping to get some sort of co-sleeping cot type thing in reckon so I can easily breast feed at night but don't know whether to go for drop sided cot or one of the fancy co-sleeper things. And if so do I need a Moses basket?!? Gosh there's just so much to think about! Confused

Milkandtwo · 12/10/2013 19:36

Hey misskat, we're going for the nct bednest as I'm a lazy cow and won't want to get out from under my warm duvet in February. We're hiring it rather than buying, which makes it more affordable. If you go for something like this you wouldn't need a Moses basket too. That said, we figured it might be useful to have something he can nap in downstairs too (so Moses basket is much more portable whereas bednest is less so) but I think we'll use the carrycot part of the pram for any downstairs naps.

Milkandtwo · 12/10/2013 19:40

And it would be so convenient and easy if he was into climbing, circus, reading and make-believe, but I just know he's going to be a football loving maths fan. Que sera.

Camwombat · 12/10/2013 20:43

when ds was little I used our pram carrycot and then bouncer/chair for daytime naps. he had a crib right next to bed so actual getting up was minimal. we will be doing same this time.

misskatamari · 12/10/2013 21:17

Thanks ladies. Using the carrycot sound like a good idea for day. I've been thinking of hiring the bednest from nct as it's so much cheaper than buying and it will last longer than a Moses basket too. So many people say their babies grew out of Moses baskets in a matter of weeks so it seems like a bit of a waste or money if that might happen. So much to consider.

vix206 · 13/10/2013 06:32

I will be doing as I did with DS. Moses basket next to bed for easy access, will breast feed in bed and probably end up co sleeping some nights as I just fell asleep with DS.

When she outgrows Moses basket (DS was 5 months and he was tall and 8lb 9 when born so not bad) she will go in the cot which will stay in my room until she's sleeping through.

During the day I expect she will sleep in my sling, in the pram but so going to really try and get in the habit of proper lunchtime naps in Moses basket upstairs if possible. I really want to try for better sleeping habits this time Grin

bugsyburge · 13/10/2013 09:03

morning ladies, hope everyones weekends are going well?
YES to feeling breathless.... I used to run marathons before I got knocked up, going back to that seems a far away dream!!!

has anyone else been more emotional than normal? I spent much of yesterday crying over absolutely nothing.... it's such an odd feeling because I very rarely cry normally!!!!

the joys of pregnancy eh?!

Julietee · 13/10/2013 09:22

He was SO active yesterday evening and woke me up with a little disco about 6am just as I was having a sexy dream. Unusual but nice! I can't help but wonder if it had anything to do with the flu shot yesterday, but probably just coincidence.

Milkandtwo · 13/10/2013 09:43

Bugsy I had a huge crying jag last night before bed. Literally couldn't stop and was very aware I was being mental and it was all hormones! Being breathless coupled with awful cold, friends all having a night out without me and all the other pregnancy niggles just got too much! Ordinarily a cig and a glass of Merlot would have seen me right but in their absence a bloody good wail ensued. Following that, though, I actually slept for 6 hours and only got up once which is a small miracle!
