Ok we don't. We're sick a lot, cry at adverts, moan about back/hip pain and if we got a quid for each new stretchmark generated we could all give up work and employ a nanny.

In fact if you know any teenagers feel free to show them our threads...we are the most effective contraceptive since sliced bread don't ask.

Ladies...as you were....

Julietee · 04/10/2013 20:13

Yeah, I would mention it directly. Just be honest.
Though that didn't work so well with my dad when I told him his aftershave was making me nauseous as well as stale cigar smoke smell! Then again he can be a giant baby, and is rather not sensitive.

EeyoreIsh · 04/10/2013 20:22

mmmmm, I just had fish and chips, tasty! I may regret it later as I had a repeat of ms earlier, but they tasted so good.

champagne I would say something to your colleague. Or can you move desks?

Baby really kicking away today, I've gone from feeling almost nothing to lots of kicks.

Thingymajigs · 04/10/2013 20:28

I am, thanks miss. Smile I think you've just reminded all of us to do this- One, two, three and SQUEEEEEZE that pelvic floor everyone. (gives up and invests in Tena lady).

tinypolkadot · 04/10/2013 21:33

Good luck with the move thingy we moved on Monday, I felt pretty useless but I was still exhausted by the end of the day! Grin we took the week off work to unpack and clean the old place and come today I feel like I'm falling apart, I've become very accident prone!

I know what you mean about moving to a new area and away from bad neighbours, sheer bliss.

champagne maybe just tell him. Can you take a piece of cloth sprayed with perfume to sniff when it's bad? That's what I've been doing when dh's garlic breath makes me feel ill in bed! (He doesn't know that though!)

I changed my address at my surgery thinking I'd stay there as I work nearby and was still convenient, also don't want to muck up my antenatal care, anyway I got a letter today saying I now live too far away and they're going to delete me after 7 days. Charming!

I've also been worrying about premature birth. Must stop!

vix206 · 05/10/2013 07:34

Tiny you've just reminded me, when I was pregnant with DS smells made me nauseous and I bought some lemon essential oil and put some drops on a tissue. It always helped. Maybe worth a try Champagne?

rueyrichardson · 05/10/2013 08:42

Good luck with your move, Thingy. Think of all the lovely nesting you will do afterwards! Poppy I am working til 38 weeks too. Last times I was utterly bored waiting for DS to arrive so I figure I may as well be useful up to the last minute. I can do my nesting at the weekends. Champagne, I would mention the cafetiere thing, your colleague will probably be really surprised and want to help, if he's sensitive.

Poppy954 · 05/10/2013 09:41

Champagne, if it was me I wouldn't say anything and I would take it badly if someone asked me not to drink coffee at my own desk. My view is it's my choice to be pregnant and I shouldn't expect other people to change their behaviour as a result. That's not to say I'm right though, I'd probably have a good winge about it to everyone else! I sit next to someone who crunches apples with his mouth open and it makes me want to be sick even when I'm not pregnant but I haven't got it in me to ask him to close his mouth while eating or switch to bananas!

Poppy954 · 05/10/2013 09:42

Good luck thingy. Exciting times!

Poppy954 · 05/10/2013 09:46

Sorry - should get all my thoughts together in one go!

Misskat- your pupils sound like they are really interested. That's lovely.

Durk - That's amazing about the ring. What good luck!

barebranches · 05/10/2013 10:01

just had my flu jab.
had to queue with old ladies and other preggos and get a ticket. Was very efficient though... and in and out in 20 mins!

All you ladies who had the flu jab last week, did you feel ill after? I think I have decided to have it now but I am not keen on having a temperature and sore head etc. I am still being sick with HG now and then and I really cannot be dealing with any more illness.

I really don't ever get colds or flu. Stomach bugs are what I pick up easily, I wish there was a jab to prevent those. So I do feel unsure getting the flu jab.

My little boy just felt his little brother kicking for the first time. He has been so desperate to feel something it's been weeks of "oh quick babies kicking" and then baby stops as soon as he puts his hand there. But today he was lucky, baby was having some sort of disco in there. His little face was so cute I think he is going to be a great big brother.

Ruey how have you been finding Epsom hospital? I really don't like it. It is so weird that they don't have a proper and seperate maternity wing. I just felt weird waiting for my 20wk scan in the X-ray area. It felt smelly and dirty and I just wanted to be back in my old hospital. Plus so far I have not actually met anyone there that has been very nice. The midwife was awful and the consultant was pretty lame too. I had to ask if I could see someone else next time. I just feel that the level of care is no where near what I had at Queen Charlottes in London. It was so clean there and the staff were fantastic.

I may go and have a look at guildford when I am 30wks as that's when you can have a tour of the labour and maternity ward.

Julietee · 05/10/2013 11:27

poppy that crunching apple thing would make me feel very rage-y! You're more patient than I would be.
I was once working with a guy in retail who stank so badly I would gag if he got near me. Don't know how I would deal with that while pregnant! Do these people have no self awareness?

rueyrichardson · 05/10/2013 11:32

Somany, so far I've found Epsom OK from a care perspective. I agree it does feel like the facilities are less dedicated than bigger hospitals, and it is a dump! But my booking midwife was OK. Consultant also a bit limp but I've yet to meet a good one so I didn't have high expectations. Sonographers both good. You've got me thinking maybe there are other options though, oh goodness, I am sick of making decisions!

misskatamari · 05/10/2013 12:11

Champagne I'd definitely say something to mr cafetiere. It's not like you're asking him to not drink coffee - just to brew it somewhere else.

Yaaaay managed to make it to pregnancy yoga this morning. Now I need to try and make DHs bday presents so they don't end up too belated (bday today!) I did get him other stuff as well but want to give him the hand made things ASAP. Hoping he picks something tasty for birthday tea as well Smile

Littleen · 05/10/2013 12:17

miss I had the same issue a few days ago, so have been doing kegels religiously since. It helped after only 2 days and not happening now, thank god -.- Was rather shocked/disgusted/freaked out when it happened!

Premature babies, uff! It's so random what happens really. One of my good friends was 3 months early, but completely healthy and allowed really quickly out of hospital. She has no problems caused by it at all!

My sister in law had both her kids premature, although only one very early (25 weeks), he's deaf due to it and has aspergers (not sure if that was caused by it) and also very stunted growth, and a slightly unusual face as well. You can see he is not "quite right" but he is an amazing and lovely little 10 year old now.

Here they actually keep babies alive from 21 weeks, and a girl I used to knows sister had a little girl at 21 weeks. Unsure how it all turned out really, but hopefully she's ok.

We're just hoping that my boyfriends family has had more than their fair share of premature babies, and ours will come out on time! :)

Since scan, I have felt a lot less movement :( Think he must have moved so he's kicking the placenta instead, and I just can't feel it! Lady said not to worry, as I'm not even 20 weeks yet and I'll feel it less than those with differently placed placenta, but can't help worrying anyway!

EeyoreIsh · 05/10/2013 13:58

I've had such a lovely relaxing morning. slept in until 9, had breakfast in bed, then a bath and a hair cut. All v relaxing Smile I've gone back to having short (well, chin length hair) as I couldn't be doing with the faff of longer hair.

Now I'm feeling kicks lots, it's great. But do others find that you can feel it kicking something internal, like bowels or something?! It's most strange.

EeyoreIsh · 05/10/2013 13:59

ooh, meant to say good luck to thingy for the move. Hope it goes well.

champagne that sounds like a good solution and you're entirely in your rights to ask him.

I need to get my flu jab too. It's only laziness at yhe thought of trekking to the dr that has stopped me. Would be interested to hear if anyone has side effects from it though.

Good luck for the move thingy it's a good time to move and get all settled before baby comes.

I'm hoping to only work till Christmas, when I'll be 30 weeks. It seems really early but I don't really enjoy work, and I'm going to have to move back to be near family so figure I will need the time to get settled somewhere new (/old as I grew up there)

Happy bday

winterflowers · 05/10/2013 14:48

That sent too soon... meant happy bday to your DH misskatamari x

TeaAddict235 · 05/10/2013 15:03

That sounds like a lovely morning eeyoreish. By the end of my baths I am quite exhausted, sometimes I don't even want to do my hair at all. I think that i've been neglecting my hair for these past 4 months, very few deep conditions, short and irregular washes, basically i've been a bit of a barbarian.

On the horny issue, yeah i've been up for it more recently, but dh has been rejecting the advances on the basis of the presence of the baby. Plus I suppose my weight increase and unkept hair must add to his confusion Confused

misskatamari · 05/10/2013 15:12

Eeyore your morning sounds lovely - I a currently running a bath myself whilst my banana cakes bake in the oven. DH has bought GTA5 with some bay money so I'm sure he won't notice my absence and I can then veg on the sofa and do my crafting when I nice and clean and relaxed Smile

My appearance has also become a tad more shambolic in recent months - I just can't seem to care/be arsed about making an effort to look nice. I might attempt to put some makeup on later so DH can remember he didn't actually marry an elasticated wasted hag lol!

Littleen - glad it's not just me. I have been clenching lots since so hopefully it's a one off Blush
