fem I don't really no how it works as although he is self employed he is contracted to his company, and the holiday pay isn't in his contract either but they agreed to that and have honoured that, the think is they've known for a long time I'm having a baby so why not flag it up before, he works for vauxhall and can't just take time off as such all as too be approved by a manager even if unpaid and only two ppl can be on leave at a time and holiday for October we is already booked, everything is so unfair! I'm seriously panicking that I'm gunna be on a school run with dd within 24 hours of giving birth my family have said they will help but its entirely not the point isit? I no singles mums do it but I'm not a single mum and have since spent the entire afternoon crying dh said he can't do anything till next week now as the person he needs to contact to conveniently on leave, I'll be 38+ next week and having a sweep Monday so he may not even get a chance too sort it out :-(

Flyer747 · 24/09/2013 15:57

Congratulations textbook such a lovely name.

Parents and Nan have left and I'm now in bed.

DP just announced he is going away for the night on Thursday (to see a friend in Angelsey) about 1 hour and 30 mins from where we live. I will be 37+4 at this point, do you think this is reasonable or not? I'm umming and arrhhing.

Nat that's a bit low of dh's work I'd be pretty pissed off too.

BowlFullofJelly · 24/09/2013 15:57

Thanks for the sympathy re houseguests - I am just trying to focus on the positives, like mum looking after ds while i nap!

Ok, so now we have quite a few ladies whose babies have arrived, whats the best thing about no longer being pregnant (apart from the baby!). I have, as the thread title suggests, completely forgotten what it is like to not be preggers.

cuillereasoupe · 24/09/2013 16:17

Cuille sorry to hear that, hope I don't sound too spoilt and ungrateful

No worries, I've had 39 years to get used to his ways! He's your classic undiagnosed aspie, like my sister.

By contrast, my ILs are trying to invite themselves from 7 November to 19 December. DP is aware that this will be over my dead body Wink

Sanjifair · 24/09/2013 16:20

Many congratulations textbook! So many girls on the thread now!

Natalieand · 24/09/2013 16:22

Do u no what gets me about people's in laws inviting themselves for extended periods? Especially that long cuille I could not personally stand the thought of stayin at someone else's house that long, I love my home comforts too much!

MrsHoratioNelson · 24/09/2013 16:25

Cuille did I read that right - 7 November to 19 December?

Shock
Flyer747 · 24/09/2013 16:25

Me too Nat a few nights away and I'm looking forward to my own bed and toilet Grin

Flyer747 · 24/09/2013 16:31

Clapham I presume you are quiet this afternoon as you're enjoying daytime tv, I believe deal or no deal is the game show popular at this time of day Grin

MrsO27 · 24/09/2013 16:32

Lol at boak face mrsh! I like dogs but not when they lick your face, especially when you see what else they lick Shock

nat definitely advise giving citizens advice a shot, nothing to lose. Some companies just take the piss and hope people won't challenge them. The thing my dh has learned about being self employed is that you look after number 1 first. Good luck.

legallyblond · 24/09/2013 16:33

Congratulations textbook! A lovely name!

Jelly - you asked ages ago about DD while I'm feeding... So far so good. I have made quite s big deal of reminding her that she used to have mummy's milk. I have also been quite "lets just shove these babies in then you cuddle in and we'll read your favourite story etc...".

cuillereasoupe · 24/09/2013 16:35

You did read that right MrsH... we already had them for six weeks in May-June, I think that's quite enough for one year...

MrsHoratioNelson · 24/09/2013 16:35

Thank you for reminding me MrsO Hmm Grin

I came home and scrubbed my hands and considered putting my jeans in the wash, even though they were clean on this morning...

MrsHoratioNelson · 24/09/2013 16:36

Absence makes the heart grow fonder Wink

claphammama · 24/09/2013 16:37

congrats textbook! such lovely names and what great weight. Looking forward to pics on FB! Flowers

nat this sounds harsh... surely they must give him at least unpaid leave? you shouldn't be without any support in these first days. Hope he will manage to work out something with them xx

cuille I also understand your pain - sadly, my own family is the same as your dad and sis... and DP's mum the same as your in laws - lovely but overbearing, so I'm "lucky" to get both opposites... hmm... Confused feminist, I'm not sure if this magical middle ground exists! The longest I've ever had visitors was 4 weeks - I now know my limit is 10 days, I get ratty afterwards

as we are on the topic, MIL now safely delivered from Victoria station and planted in front of Deal or No Deal but she keeps talking to me and discussing every single box they open... I'm tired and just want not to talk for 15min... just 15 min... please...

falcon best go and get checked. Better safe than sorry! fx everything is good and it's the last time it happens

claphammama · 24/09/2013 16:40

crosspost with flyer! LOL - how did you know she was watching Deal or No Deal? Grin she is discussing every single box though... and was very quick to point out that the playing lady's baby's name is Joseph "a perfect name" - her favourite!

Flyer747 · 24/09/2013 16:43

Random guess Clapham Grin I have been told I'm psychic though.

MrsHoratioNelson · 24/09/2013 16:48

Oh god Clapham is your MIL another one who can't watch anything without giving a running commentary?! My MIL is the same. Constantly making guesses as to who dunnit or asking "who's he?" when we've all been watching from the start, just like her! It's exhausting...

Flyer747 · 24/09/2013 16:48

Pinkforboys, the cabin crew sindy we used to sell onboard in our duty free magazine it had the virgin uniform on, it was £10 I think, I looked earlier and one on eBay is going for £65 why didn't I ever buy one!!

I did have the Natwest Pigs and sold them on eBay 2 years ago for about £100 I think! Wish I'd kept those now as well...

BowlFullofJelly · 24/09/2013 16:52

Haha, clapham pretend you have a dodgy tummy and go and sit on the loo for 15 minutes. Also i am getting the feeling flyer and your mil might have the same viewing habits Wink.

How is dd with the twins generally legally? Also has she asked to go on the boob? Am intrigued as to whether ds is going to want to - we have already discussed a bit and told him boobs are for baby, but he is showing a lot of interest in them lately...

Natalieand · 24/09/2013 16:55

I've lost track of who's in laws and relatives do what.... But one things for sure, I wouldn't want any of what's been mentioned we live in a 2 bed house and will have 2 children when this baby is born so no room for anyone to stay fortunately, plus I have very little tact on that front and would simply say NO! They soon get over it if they r desperate enough to see the baby lol

Flyer747 · 24/09/2013 16:55

Bowlful how did you guess Grin
I actually don't like Enders or Emmerdale....deal or no deal take it or leave it....can't be doing with the sob stories and Noel Edmunds and that banker get right on my wick.

favellio · 24/09/2013 17:00

Massive congratulations textbook GrinThanksWine

Flyer747 · 24/09/2013 17:04

Is anyone else aching all over? I feel like I've been hit by a bus. In bed and still achy and can't get comfy.

HotSoupDumpling · 24/09/2013 17:06

Hah, my MIL is also incapable of sitting reading/watching tv etc without a running commentary. She has the concentration span of a potato.
